For years Burt has supplied the tools others needed to enter the darkness, taking their coin and shaking his head at their foolish quests for riches and adventure. He was merely their merchant, handing swords and torches to men hungry for their own doom in the depths of the Pit.
But when his daughter goes missing, Burt begins to fear those same dark gloomy passages may be his only chance of finding the last light in his life. With only his young apprentice Pete at his side and hope fading as fast as his torch’s oil, will Burt be able to locate his beloved Bea and save her? Or will the twisting menaces within the Pit claim the life of the SHOPKEEP?

A truly gripping short story about a shopkeep risking it all to go to a very dangerous place, and this short story gets better at every turn. I loved the mystery and the ending is very surprising. I enjoyed this short story. It was dark but yet had enough light to keep me guessing at every turn. Worth a read this short story is unique and quite riveting. 5 stars
