Her magic is out of control and she caused someone to die using it. She then got together with a man that exploited her magic. She has been doing bike races, working as a waitress among the humans. She is having hard time dealing among her own kind after so long. West and Jinx met up with the person that knows what came to town. He says the words he she dreads, The Blooded is in town. They are looking for someone, there is a lot of them.
Jinx decides to get out of town while she has the chance. West talks her into waiting at her job for him. As Jinx waits at her job, she is going to leave. West shows up, Jinx and West start to talk. She then hers a voice she has been dreading. Darius, the head of the Blooded found her. She also finds out West is not who he claimed, he is a member of the Blooded. His job was to watch her.
Darius has a deal with Jinx, return to her life and take down the man she ran from. Jinx knows she will die either way. Jinx decide to take up on his offer. She will go to the Proving Grounds
She meets Bastian, he is something. She sees Cnyth, the brother of the man she killed and West. They are told to train her for her meeting with the man that had control over her.
Jinx will have to keep her head about her. There are several people that want her dead and she doesn't know any magic. Things with the three guys changes. Jinx realizes things are not what they seem, she knows she might not make out of alive or even to face her biggest nightmare.

This was a good start to story, this book lays the plot and ground work for the upcoming books. There are some steamy scenes that do not take away from the story.

** 3.5 on it's way to 4 stars **
I will tell you that I'm a huge fan of Ms. Sable's. This series, so far, seems like it will be full of the type of twisted, kinky, fun she brought to the Omega series and her other series. This book is easy to slip into the world of the characters and has some interesting world-building. Expect some, steamy scenes because Ms. Sable won't leave you disappointed in that department. All-in-all, it is what I expect with a paranormal RH plot. I am annoyed with Jinx, in that she goes along with this blackmail scheme to go to this school in exchange she will find out what the "dark voice" is and how to control her powers, but the whole time she ends up being told how to get her powers to work. Not once does she say "Hey, you told me you knew what was going on. Liar!" She is supposed to be this bad@$$ witch, but she just gives in too these bullies so easily. It's too convenient. I hope the next book is a little bit more true to the character narrative because I'll be waiting for it.

ONE MESMERIZING EXPERIENCE!!!
Hold that thought! Sable blazes the trail, levels the path and rules the passage with this jaw dropping, block buster, revving it up and laying it out, wielding this jewel together piece by piece fluidly. Amazing well rounded scenario's that punch dead center, ramping up the anticipation and adrenaline with such intensity and precision, thrusting this gem to life spectacularly. Sparks fly as drama, intrigue, danger and suspense surges, ruling the roost as tension spirals. Toss in distress and turmoil and you have the recipe for one exciting experience. Grappling with the intense chemistry and undeniable attraction, forging an soul deep connection as emotions run rampant, charging ahead full force blasting this gem to life spectacularly. The personalities are well matched and balance with enough flaws for diversity. The characters and scenes are strikingly sharp with such colorful descriptions it gives you a full understanding and realism that flow smoothly. Remarkable job Sable, thanks for sharing this incredible jewel with us.

Jinx (FMC) has been on the run for a long time. Running from a family that hate and class her as lower than them because she has no magic. Until on one occasion where she is assaulted with devastating results which is the reason she is on the run in the first place. When her past finally catches up to her it does with plenty of complications including giving her a deadly proposition. She has to help Darius (Hes untrustworthy), West (A shifter with a lot of history with both of them. Not all good), Cynth (a vampire who hates her with a passion and wants to kill her) and Bastian (A flirty fae) defeat her Ex Valentine. Not something that she wants to be involved in but she has little choice but too. So she is forced to attend the Proving Grounds. A place where the supernaturals go to study magic amongst other things as well as being full of people who hate her and want to see her dead. Its a fantastic book full of sly, underhand people all vying for their own ends. JInx is great as a character full of wise cracks and banter. Just brilliant

It's probably a 3.5 ⭐ book for me. I read it looki for a fast laced story, something this book claimed to be. Reader it was far from fast paced. She didn't even kiss someone until halfway through the book. 🙄 there's nothing wrong with that but don't false advertise.

The author is great at world building, people's interactions are a different story. Jinx was prophesied to be a great witch that brings them into a new age... except no magic emerged from her until one night she was attacked. Then ALL the power came out but she doesn't know how to control it

So here's what I dont get, she HAS power. So why the fuck are people treating her like she is weak and useless at school when she made a very public example of powers that shouldn't exist. I get the author needed to create conflict but maybe have them be afraid of her instead?

Another example of this is jinx keeps a demon from killing her when she shouldn't be able to do that. Instead of anyone being like, she really can't be messed with, they act like it's no big deal. So bizarre

Vampires, shifters, Fae's ,warlock's oh my
What more could you ask for this was one spicy tantalizing over-the-top sexy a fast-paced read
The way this stoy unfolds is like a wet dream come to life torchering every nerve fiber of my being making me warm moist and intoxicated from one eye popping ravenous page to the next. This story was definitely smokin hot with an intriguing storyline that kept me thirsty excited and on edge from the very beginning to the jaw dropping end a perfect dessert to a long day and an amazing fantasy of taboo love that I just could NOT get enough of this naughty little morsel it was a tasty little treat !!!

I really enjoy L.A. Sable's books. She has disappeared a few years ago but I hope she'll come back.
"Fiendish Magic" is your typical bully paranormal academy romance but it kinda fell flat for me.
Jinx just let events come to her, she doesn't fight at all and goes willingly into traps.
I didn't connect to her relationship with her mates at all: Two specially went from hating her and one of them tried to kill her twice. Like girl RUN. The hate to love feelings were rushed.
She also accepted to go to this school to learn about her powers and went to one class and that's it for the whole book.
Darius was barely in the book which was weird as he needs her.

Jinx's past is about to catch up with her, she trying to avoid using magic and gain the people hunting her attention, but those that hunt her are not going to give up. To raise extra money she does some bike racing, on the side, until a magical gust tells her that things might no longer be safe. I loved this trilling/intriguing story, it's mostly through Jinx's point of view, with some scattering of the points of view of the men.

Good story

This was a good story. It was easy to get into, and moved along at a good pace. I will read the next installment. My only complaint was a bit of dissonance between the beginning and end of the book, for instance, all three alpha males had seen the shifter naked early in the book, but toward the end one of them was surprised at his girth... also some incorrect placement and tense of words. Not huge, didn’t interrupt the read too badly. a number of hiccups is all.

Wow

I absolutely adored this book, could barely put it down. The FMC is funny, tough, but still vulnerable.
Not taking BS but not in a cliche way. So looking forward to the next installation when we her united with her men. Great take on a light bully/academy theme. Highly recommend this read.

This book was pretty good. For some reason it lost me in the middle and I had a hard time pulling myself back to finish it - really I wasn't sure I was going to. But I plodded through and I'm glad I did. I think the horribleness of the guys were really getting to me, but I just had to push through that and keep going. Overall, I enjoyed the book and will be most likely reading the next.

3.5
This book could have been 4 stars (maybe more) but there were quite a few errors throughout the book. Some scenes jumped as if the author just stopped writing mid scene and moved to the next.
It also would be more stars if the author was going to continue with the trilogy.
Overall, the plot is good. Not as fast paced as I expected, and no romance in this book. Spice towards the very end.

Ends on a cliffhanger with no sequel in sight. Was a quick read but took a while to get going.
