The Sound of Us #3

Remember Me This Way

Rate this book
The Sound of Us are supernovas in the sky and I’ve been following their light from the moment we met. It was easy to get wrapped in them, for me to feel like I wasn’t a real person unless I was in their presence, helping them, loving them.

Since Gentry’s attack we haven’t been the same, and I’m afraid that the magic we had been working so hard to build may be gone forever. Addiction, jealousy, and fear fill our nights, replacing the spaces that our love used to live.

When an opportunity of a lifetime arises for me to chase my dreams, I leap at the chance to do something for myself. But it’s harder than I thought to follow my own path, especially when it begins to divert from theirs.

Growing up, I never thought a happy ending was in the cards for me...but a happily ever after with the boys from the Sound of Us has been my dream since I met them.

But dreams change, and even though our love story is written across my soul, our path won’t be easy.
I know their hearts though, and what’s there is the same as what you can find in mine.

My name is Ariana Kent, and losing “us” is not an option.

Read other books by this author in the future: yes

At the beginning of this book Ari recovers from being shot by her ex husband. She visits a psychologist and she tells her to find out what she wants to do, because she always lived her life taking care of others and never pursued what she wanted. And Ari has a dream: Becoming a famous singer and songwriter. This book is about her career and how her relationship with her guys drifts apart because of this. There is a HEA.

Ari and her boys got together again, but then there is a three month gap after that we get the show down of this book and another gap, which tells how they live years after the end. But we never get how Ari and her guys managed their relationship and their separate carriers. I think there should have been a chapter about how this goes on after the show down. And somehow this book feels unfinished because of this.

Okay, I’m just going to write one review for all three of these books because it should have just been one long book with the way it was written.

To start off, this was my first dive into the Reverse Harem/Why Choose? genre of romance, and it was a very shallow dive compared to everything I have been seeing blowing up on Booktok, and I think I’m okay with the shallow end? I liked that they were in individual relationships with Ari and that they didn’t ever mix it up with each other. It felt much more ‘realistic’? Idk if that’s the right wording.

The premise was very interesting, and how they found each other and managed to be what they each needed for one another was a unique perspective.

The writing is definitely fan fic level and in desperate need of an edit, but I enjoyed it in general. Definitely had a LOT of needless outside drama, but whatever.

For those wanting more juicy details:

🎸 there is lots of 🔥🔥🔥 in this book, but it’s all confined to each of their individual relationships
🎸I liked how they addressed the structure of how a set-up like this would work because I have never been able to wrap my head around a RH relationship.
🎸after reading this, I think I would try another RH, but I think I want to stay in the shallow end. 😅

This book wasn’t what I was expecting it to be. For a final book, it introduced a lot of new plots lines and started to develop some that had only been hinted at in the previous books. While this is great in itself, I felt like it took away from the romance and changed the book into something it wasn’t before. It also lengthened the story in a way that I feel was unnecessary. Ultimately, it’s definitely my least favorite in the series.

Whatever it was, every girl we were around wanted to be the one to fix Tanner Crosby.

***THIS PART HURT....
"Princess," he finally says.

⬆God dammit, Tanner!!!!!!! How could you?!?!?

I'm so sad for this series to end. I could read about these characters for many more books. Everyone ought to read this because its such a beautiful story about young, true love and getting that second chance. So good!

(Tanner's book)

Ariana Kent will forever be my good thing.

I detest series....so one star take away.

Still, I love this fantasy of three guys who really love a broken girl, who is strong enough for her shit and theirs also.

Grammar was a bit sloppy because Their and There were mixed up occasionally.

Lovely story and I agree with author's choice of "husband" but it hardly matters as there is lots of love between the guys and United in love with her. Fantasy and fantastic.

Well, what can I say, by the end of this series I had cried quite a bit, but seeing the hea for Ari and her boys was so worth it! I wasn’t sure what to expect as I’d seen some reviews mentioning it was based in High school, but it actually wasn’t, Ari would look back on her time when she first met the boys in high school and about their time together. It was character building that showed the broken pieces of their worlds. So, you will see now and then chapters. It’s dual pov which I love. The books do have some dark issues for both Ariana and each of the boys. So, for this reason you may want to check triggers. The story is a love story of 4 souls of a found family. The drama follows their lives into rockstars and so much they have to overcome to see their hea. I enjoyed the story. Though it is RH, I didn’t find it to be overly spicy. I find most of this authors books to be a bit milder, but it’s still there. I’d probably give it 3 🌶️🌶️🌶️. You will need to read all three books in order.

i feel sick in the head for how quick i read through this series but also not too much since, again, this should’ve been one big book. i enjoyed this one almost as much as the others but there were some minor chekhov’s guns that never fired if you know what i mean & the introduction of some plots kinda threw me off since this was the last book in the series. some points felt like they dragged a little, with the use of not-blatantly-obvious time skips not helping in the slightest, but the points where it dragged just felt realistic to reality so i’m not terribly concerned over them. overall, i still enjoyed this book, especially with the epilogue tying into the original book title.

From 0 to 100

I struggled to get into this one… it started so slow and was a drag at first. But turn the page and now we’re on the fast track to the end and I can’t put it down. I love the story, but felt like it was still slightly lacking. 3 stars. It’s not a series I would pick up and read again.

So I was most excited for this book because there was do much built up potential to what their lives would turn out to be. But his book let me down a bit.
So many new plots are introduced in this book. So many new scenarios, and so much going on. Before one scenario was complete another started.
The relationship with the boys also just didn't work for me. I thought maybe this would go more into the realm of RH as the books went on but she's still just individually dating the 3 boys. And her relationship with them is so different, almost no dating/romance. They basically just sleep together and fight, or ignore eachother completely. It seemed to me her relationship with Jesse was the one she put the most energy into since he was the easiest, where as Jensen and Tanner were just kinda there when they were there. I don't know if that was supposed to be because they're more damaged, but she barely had any personal time with them it was always with Jesse. As I got through the book I was really looking forward to the end especially when Tanner came back but it was so anticlimactic, and the epilogue just felt unnecessary as there was barely anything to it.

Overall I did really enjoy the series.

I had to finish this trilogy because its all about the same 4 people. I read all 3 books in a row so noticed things that people that read them as they were released may not have. Like how many times thru the books the length of time Ari was with her monster, it goes from 3-5 years throughout the books. The author needs to take notes in the future , so that she can fact check. There were other things to, but that was a main one. The writing itself was good, it has potential to be an amazing trilogy if it were gone back over with a fine tooth comb and the issues fixed. The story kept me pulled in even thru the problems and I had to finish it. The story could be amazing with some work...

I read this book and so much that I love it like I'm fell disapoinment.
The author never talk about how a person who the chilhood like Ariana learn to play guitarr or piano so well.Or worst, what happened after she was raped and goes to the house from the woman who save her in the hospital. Most important, never explyning how she get better because un the first book when she finds the boys again, she doesn't have any problem in have sex with they...and is not realist than a person with that trauma and also a abusive husband can make like nothing happens.
Gentry is a shadow hunting Ariana during all the books and at the end he attack in the concert right like in the second book(seriuosly?security guard where are?) and then he is stopped for one of the principal characthers.
It't like all that facts where in just to add dramma but at the end everething is resolved so easily that it's make me frustrated. The first session in theraphia and the professional have a diagnostic and resolves all her problems.WTF!
And I don't like it that when she finally decide to be with the boys all the greats things happens one of other. Is not credible that somebody unkown have three number one of the the first single and a grammy.I'm not get in it.
I have to say that instead I don't like the instalove, I loved the relationship betwen the characters and the music, I loved the music! I repetead the soundtrack over and over. And this all that a rescue from the book. It's a little original and sweet story of love but that's all.
Sorry for my grammatical mistakes.🙏

This series could have definitely been one book.

I tried. I realllllllly tried to like this book. The guys are great each in their own way, but Ari was a hard pill to swallow.

I wanted to DNF so many times, but I just kept holding out it’d get better and I’d forget about all the DUMB nonsense that Ari makes herself believe… but that wasn’t really the case. Every poor decision she made was just demons in her head and not actually valid or real scenarios. The way she holds out on the guys who have been showing her how much they love her from literally day one, was not right. She may have thought she had reasons (which she mentions in book 1 and 2 but REFUSED to tell us what it was until book 3! 😠) but it didn’t change anything between them and was a waste of 5 yrs and wound her in an abusive marriage.

It’s not all negative though… the guys are just so great and literally the only reason I kept reading.

Sweet and sensitive Jesse is the charming guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and keeps everyone together 💙.
Jensen is the brooding strong silent type, who loves just as fiercely 💚.
Then there’s Tanner, the definition of a tortured artist. His third Book redemption arc is chefs kiss perfect 🧡!

Would I recommend this series? No, not really and here’s why.
❌Very little bits of spice considering it’s a why choose, RH, rockstars book…
❌ Super annoying FMC
❌ could have/ should have only been one book

With THAT said.. I would, and do, recommend the pucking wrong series by CR Jane all day every day! 😘

Loooorrrrrrrrddddddddddyyyyyyyyyyy what a fudging ending!!

C.R. Jane is pulling out all the emotional stops in this third and last book, in her rockstar trilogy.
I don't even know what I can say, except she slayed me... once, twice, thrice! I even had to PM her at 80%, to tell her I was afraid to continue reading 😂 While I imagine that some of the darker subjects could present triggers to some, I was floored with the depth the author went into. And I'm so impressed with the character growth. While they all grow leaps and bounds, it's still kept realistic to the plot and their personalities.

Everything is revealed in Remember Me This Way.
While two wrongs doesn't make a right, it's clear that four broken people makes perfect sense.

I guess all that's left to say it: if you haven't read this book, why not? You're in for an epic emotional roller-coaster, that you don't want to ever finish while simultaneously craving a HEA for Ari, Jensen, Tanner & Jesse 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

Meh

2.5 Stars but I am rounding up.

This series got progressively worse the longer I read. The first one was enjoyable enough, the second one predicted and the third was a total shlep to get through. It’s as if the author was ‘saying’ all the right things but the characters never really did them.

The emotional resolutions and what they went through often felt disjointed and sudden. She would be angry one minute and fine the next and I’d page back and try to figure out when she moved passed this or when she actually forgave the guys.

At some point it seemed as if the author wanter her to have two stalkers, then she decided against it and just left the book as is. Now we have three mentions of a possible stalker that never went anywhere. The guys are all annoying and remind me of children with how mature they act to anything happening in their lives.

Super glad I am done with this series as I would not have it in me to sit through another book.

Book 3. I had to finish it. Well, it was cringe I loled out loud, genuinely bad but I still weirdly was engaged. Every issue you’ll have a character go thru, our FMM went thru it all. She even started a famous singing career and was on radio in a day. Then number 2 on billboard. I can’t. Hahahah.

Remember Me This Way is a beautiful, soulful, romantic way to end the series on and it starts where the previous book left of, focusing more on Ari and Tanner's relationship, their character growth, their love, their journeys. I loved everything to do with this entire series but this book had to be my favourite. If your new to the why choose/reverse harem scene this ia a good series to start with because the guys have that connection and agreement to share Ari already and the steamy scenes are usually still between just Ari and one of the boys, not all of them together so it's a nice introduction.

Ari and Tanner are similar, broken children, from broken homes who know the true ugliness of the world but from different viewpoints. Even after all this time, they both are still so broken, Tanner really struggles, he's overcome by fear, fear of losing Ari again, or living a life without her, of failing her, of not being enough for her that he succumbs once more to his vices. Tanner is in self-destruct mode, he can see the pain he's causing, he's experiencing his own crushing anguish and demons. Deep down he wants to be good enough for Ari, but finding that inner strength to change is hard, he has help from the guys, their support and love including Ari but when he does something that threatens their relationship with Ari as well that's the one thing that could break them. It's the shock he needed, but is he strong enough to pull himself out of the darkness on his own or will his lose Ari's light forever?

Ari is now in the spotlight, she's been stuck following behind three sexy, charismatic, rockstar gods, caught in their light and their enthrall for years even when she wasn't with them and now it's her turn. Arianna Kent, an abused, unloved, girl from the trailer park gets the biggest break of her life to finally follow her dreams and become the star she's always been. Her journey is hard, full of anxiety and fear, will people even like her? Can she do this on her own? Will people assume she's riding the boys' coattails and will that be the only reason people like her music? Will the boys support her dream? Can their love survive this?

As much as I loved this series I have to say there were times when the pace seemed to drop of slightly and Gentry disappears mostly until the end. Everything else was perfection, this is a really emotional book as the guys find out what Ari's been keeping secret all this time and it's worse than they could possibly imagine. It's what sends Tanner fully into self-destruct mode but gives Ari a new lease on life, a new determination and her relationships with Jensen and Jesse grow stronger without the secrets. Tanner also opens up about this past, his struggles to Ari and mostly importantly his boys who have stuck by him through and through everything but should have pushed him a little harder for the truth. A perfect ending though the epilogue could have been a little longer because I needed more of that, but that's probably my reluctance to let these characters go.

This review is for the overall 3 book series.

This is a second chance, rockstar romance that is full of angst, anger, gritty hard hitting truths, and a female character who discovers who she is with the support of her 3 rockstars. Please note this book deals with substance abuse, SA, spousal abuse, and child abuse, so be aware of these potential triggers before reading. I didn’t realize I had actually read book 1 of the series when it originally came out and then had forgotten to go check to see if the others were out yet, so I'm glad I rediscovered this series and was able to get their completed story.

I love why choose romance where each guy has a very different connection/relationship with the girl and I also don't mind if they have more of an individual relationship with her vs. more of a group that always shares during the spicy scenes. It would definitely be a great place to dip your toes into this genre to see if you can enjoy books where she has multiple boyfriends.

I did struggle a bit with Tanner's character as I never felt we really got to see his character grow due to his alcohol/drug issues and it was more of a sudden insta change vs. a gradual progression, but I'm glad he decided she was worth putting in the actual effort to make the changes in his own life so that he could be a better partner for her.

I typically am not a huge fan of the jump back and forth between past and present and this is one instance where it was definitely harder to follow along because the past chapters didn't always seem to be in chronological order. My brain just processes things in a very linear way so it is always harder for me to have past/present jumps throughout a book, but even harder when the timeline isn't clear as far as being linear for the past chapter order. The third book is the one where it was harder to really determine where in the timeline the past events occurred and that made it seem like the pacing was a lot slower compared to the first 2 books because my brain just struggled to process things because it wasn't always clear at what point in the timeline it was taking place. I didn’t remove stars for this as it is honestly a personal preference thing, but wanted to point it out in case there are others who struggle when reading a non-linear storyline.

35/75 Physical Books

I purchased this book in December 2021, and I was thrilled that the entire series was available for purchase. The covers initially drew my eye, but the storyline was so interesting that I just had to get a set for myself! It was about 225 pages long and took me about half a day to finish (I was so addicted to the storyline at this point).

This book had all of the great elements that I was still missing in the other books in the series. We finally got to see some major character growth in Ari, and I loved how we followed the vast majority of her ever-growing career along with the guys and their career. So much of the first two books was focused around Jesse, Jensen, and Tanner that this novel finally covered more details about who Ari is and what her dreams actually are. I also love her individual relationships with the guys, since they were fully developed finally, and she got to entwine herself completely in the band's lives.

The author was new to me prior to this series, but I definitely liked the way she created the backstories for her characters. Not only was there alternating between the past and the present, but there was also alternating between POV's at the most appropriate times. It created an interesting way of telling the story that kept me enraptured until The End. Each novel also primarily focused on providing the back story to each one of the men, which was neat aspect that made it simple to learn more about them. This series was also very low on the spice scale for a reverse harem series, and it was set up to be more like one girl dating three guys at the same time and everyone being okay with it rather than the typical elements of that type of novel. I was unfortunately expecting to get bored since the plotline did not really change throughout the series, but I found myself surprisingly enjoying it the entire time! It was not as repetitive as I had feared, and I could not put these books down! Would reccomend to anyone who enjoys novels based around rockstars and their crazy lives, second chance romance, and a group of characters that pulls at your heartstrings constantly!

This series and this book was a little over dramatic, but i loved it. Emotions were high, but it was beautifully written to invoke so many emotions, and I really appreciated it.

I had a hard time in the first book with the constant then/now for the first half of the book, but it got better throughout the series. Now that i think about it, i still have questions; such as what did Ari say to them to not go to LA, why did only Jensen ever try to pursue her and then left without even confirming anything, why did none of them try to hunt her down in the five years that passed? It seems like only Jensen truly thought of her in that time because of the letters he wrote her, because even though the others say that they missed her the whole time, we don’t get much shown for it. I wish i had seen a bit more about Ari’s time after her trauma to when she met Gentry, i feel like we only got snippets that didn’t form a full picture, especially since she went to live with Gene and we never hear about her again, and then her parents die for good.

The Gentry storyline felt like it dragged on forever, tbh. Don’t totally understand how he was able to get inside a packed stadium with a gun, but ok. The time frames in this book were also a bit weird, just because something happens and then a week or so has gone by, and before we know it three months or more have passed? And we don’t have much interaction with the guys.

Tanner’s storyline was well written, i could really feel his pain. I wish he hadn’t been an absolute idiot, but maybe that’s the push he needed. I’m happy for Ari’s growth with her career, even if you have to suspend belief of how the music industry works a bit lol. She still didn’t feel like she had a personality outside of loving them and having trauma.

The romance was so well done and i got really pulled into their story. I would still love to read more from all of them!

I am not the type honestly to write reviews, but this book series had become my obsession. Personally out of all three books, I had a love hate relationship with this one, while the other two I was absolutely crazy over. I waited over a month for this to release, and though I love the book, I will admit I was dissapointed in certain parts. I am trying to avoid spoilers, but Ariana goes through something terrible, something that prevented her from going to the boys. This hit me hard and I was so angry that it was only recalled for less than a chapter. This book I felt was more about the boys specifically Tanner and the thing is there was no justice for him and nor was there for Ariana. But Ariana went through so much too and I simply wished they acknowledged that. After All none of them bothered to go after her and instead had their fun for five years. Then she was the one who went to them. Then she kept on taking care of them, and though they kept saying they needed her which made my heart swoon, I personally didn’t think they were really there for her. I wanted more of taking care of her, rather than the other way around. I understand Tanner was the fucked up character and he is the least of my favorites, but the others could have fought for her more. The author builds up this reason why she never went after the boys till five years later, and when you find out. It’s just so quick I was honestly dissapointed, but this book series is amazing to read. I simply wished for more for this book.
