A new century brings change to the carefully ordered world Eden Harris maintains, change that threatens all she holds dear.
Despite years of devoted service to the Bradburys, the leading family of the community, Eden hides a secret that would affect them all.
When an enemy returns, her world is shattered and her secret exposed. Torn and provoked, she strains to protect her family until a devastating accident leaves her alone and frightened. As the threat against her grows, Eden takes her precious daughters and flees from the only place she's called home, to live amongst masses in York.
Her attempt to start anew is not so simple as the past haunts her, and the one man she thought lost to her so many years before, returns to claim what has always been his. Eden must gather her strength and look into her heart to accept what the future offers. Can she find the happiness she longs for?
Australian born AnneMarie Brear writes historical novels and modern romances and sometimes the odd short story, too. Her passions, apart from writing, are travelling, reading, researching historical eras and looking for inspiration for her next book. https://www.facebook.com/annemariebrear http://www.annemaribrear.com
Eden Harris was happily married to Nathan, and with her two daughters Josephine and Lilly, plus her grandfather, the future looked rosy. But a cruel and evil man arrived at the Bradbury mansion - a man from Eden's past that she didn't want anything to do with. Her life was about to change in a terrible way. Eden had been part of the Bradbury family most of her life. She grew up with Annabelle, Charlie and Joel, then became a companion to Annabelle. Now as adults, Eden held secrets that she didn't want known...
When tragedy struck more than once, Eden couldn't take it anymore, so took her two daughters and fled to York. She didn't know how long she'd need to stay there, but needs must. Would her life get back on an even keel or was she destined for unhappiness?
Eden's Conflict by Aussie author AnneMarie Brear is a lovely story, set at the turn of the century - 1901 - when the Boer War was on in Africa and class mattered. Eden is a great character, as is Charlie - and I enjoyed the historical romance very much. Recommended.
es un historico ambientado en la inglaterra de comienzos de 1900
no me gustó... ni la trama ni los personajes me gustaron... el único personaje que me medio me agradó lo terminaron matando a casi la mitad del libro, pero ningún personaje se hizo querer
Quick and easy read. If you have read other AnneMarie Brear novels, you’ll pretty much know the outcome of the story, so it is rather predictable. Still, it was a nice book. Something for the heart. Easy read for a day on the beach/in the park or garden/on a flight. I still think that “The Slum Angel” is the author’s best novel so far, so if you only have time to read one Brear book then definitely read “The Slum Angel”. I loved that one.
Will definitely read more of AnneMarie Brear’s novels as they always have an uplifting outcome despite the hardship and struggles the main characters go through. Reading a Brear book always makes me smile in the end and I finish it with a good feeling.
A well written story of a mothers love for her children, who will do whatever it takes to protect them, from evil. A story of a love for family, death of loved ones causing pain. And enduring love that wins and all live happily
All of AnneMarie Brear’s stories are very good, the content holding your interest until the end. All of the stories are different and although there is always a very small similarity it is never obvious.
I love reading Annemarie Breeds books. I have read most all of them I think. And hope to read more in future. She is such a mesmerizing writer and it is hard to stop reading thank you for making my life more enjoyable
