I wanted to give this series another chance after the dismal Loving My Enemy. Didn't turn out too well as the author has her formula down.

Hero is in love....with himself. He's convinced he's the cutest, the best, the whatever, and the heroine should just lay down and satisfy him when he decides it's time.

IN this book, heroine has had a crush on H for years. They hook up and he ghosts her for a year. A year! He gets miffed when she gives him the cold shoulder because he needed time to process everything. A year to process and he only sees her when she moves back to town. What a delicate flower. The heroine teachers him a lesson by having sex with him. That'll teach him.

He has a list of the perfect woman. Just a few items on the list that stood out are she should want to experiment in bed and is obedient as well as has her own money. Obedient. 2024 and obedient. Goodread readers I don't think he was talking about BDSM. Anyhoo, the heroine cold shoulders him emotionally while he thinks he is as irresistible as a Golden Retriever and she should get over her miffed-ness so they can have sex again. Sorry, dude, you may be blonde, but you are nothing like a Golden Retriever. In theory, she rejects him emotionally, but physically she's on board. This book is full of mixed messages.

She overhears him telling her brother how unsuitable she is. The heroine distants again, this time with a little something special he left behind, until he decides he'll settle. He convinces himself she'll clean up well when she has to and she is self-sufficient so she must make some money. The angels weep.

Her brother is a manwhore as she identifies him, and will no doubt be putting some poor girl through the wringer with mixed messages and alerts that she's not good enough in a future book. I kind of wonder if the author let a man write the H or she took input from one because her heroes are terrible with their entitlement. It's not romantic at all.

He says he loves her and outs himself to her family and all is forgiven.

No clue where I found this.

She’s justifiably prickly and he’s an idiot.

This book was a struggle from beginning to end. I didn't like Audrey at all or at any point throughout the book. I liked her even less at the very end. I hoped her attitude would change at some point and she would not not be so flipping unpleasant.

Walker ghosted her at the beginning. You try to give the H the chance to redeem himself. The way Audrey treated him, I just wondered why he tried to have a relationship with her. Just as I wondered why she didn't just shut Walker down, once and for all. The way they kept coming together was so dysfunctional, it took any pleasure out of reading the book.

I understand why Audrey was angry and hurt after her first encounter with Walker. If she was going to stay in that frame of mind through the majority of the book, why even try for a HEA?

There didn't seem to be any connection or chemistry between Walker and Audrey. I don't care how many times they had sex. No built up sexual tension, no heat, no nothing.

There was too much friction for this to be an enjoyable romance. Even during the moments when they were acting like they liked each other, the thoughts Audrey was having would not allow me to enjoy them getting along.

I tried to like this book. There was no sense of romance, of fun, of liking or respecting each other. It didn't make me feel good. It didn't make me smile. It was just frustrating. It felt like a really angry book.

I have read other books in the Hometown Heroes series that I liked much better. This was my least favorite. I would recommend you read this and judge for yourself.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.

1 town, 12 heroes. This story is about hero number 4 and so the fourth book in this serie. I really like this serie so far. It's well written and I love the stories. I really liked this couple although I would have liked if the ending wasn't so abrupt.

Walker and Audrey

This is my first read from this author and I really enjoyed this story. I love these small town second chance stories.

Walker did the unthinkable with his best friends baby sister then he ghosts her, then feels she doesn't have what it takes to be with him other than a fling. Too bad Audrey has been in love with him for a long time.

I loved that Audrey held her own and made Walker work for it. Especially since he he quite didn't know his feelings. Loved how the story played out until the dance, she needed to punch him a good one. Ugh..

piper’s best.

This is now my favourite book of Piper Sullivan. I hate to think I almost didn’t read it because book 3 was so bad the woman in it was a doormat and man, we’ll calling him that makes my stomach churn, was an abusive a-hole.
This book was amazing. Audrey had a back bone and I loved how she made Walker work for it and apologise. Walker was man enough to admit when he was wrong too. Swoon.

This book, like the others in this series, is a quick read.
Audrey is in love with her brothers best friend.
Walker has a list that he thinks his perfect woman needs to fill and Audrey doesn't fit it.
A great addition to the series.

This book was ok but slow at first. Audrey sleeps with her brother's best friend Walker a year ago. Walker left like she didn't mean anything to him. They both are home and sparks start flying again. Walker says Audrey isn't his type. He then falls in love but is it too late?

Squeee...

That was my reaction when I was scrolling along on Facebook and one of those teaser ads that pop up every other post announced that Piper Sullivan had finally released another book in her fantastic Small Town Heroes series.
Walker and Audrey have the age old problem of being best friends and brother with someone they just assume will not be ok with their being together. But thank goodness Piper doesn't make this trope the focus of this romance.
Audrey has loved Walker nearly all of her life and was secretly thrilled when they hooked up. But she wasn't thrilled when Walker in typical book boyfriend fashion wigs out over what he has done and how he can't face his best friend. So what does our boy Walker do? He ghosts poor lovesick Audrey and she flees Tulip to get some physical distance to shore up her heart against having to see Walker around town.
But as soon as she is back in town, Walker is everywhere and doesn't take to kindly to the cold shoulder Audrey gives and he pursues with a weak apology and gets started with the hot and heavy immediatley. This leaves poor Audrey even more confused especially when it happens over and over again. She sees herself as weak and unable to resist Walker's charms and she is right, everytime he is near her she falls into him over and over.
When she discovers that their time together creates a wee little problem, she must decide if she will handle this on her own or allow Walker in after she feels his rejection once again.
In the meantime, Walker is finally getting that what he has been searching for has been right in front of him all along and he needs to man up and face the brother and make Audrey believe that his love is for real.
Even though the outcome was certain, I have to say that I think I may have enjoyed this book in the series the most yet, and I can't even really pinpoint why. It just feels good to see people fall in love even when they get in their own way of finding their happily ever after.

This is the 4th story in the Hometown Heroes Series. In this beautiful love story we meet Audrey and Walker. Audrey has an older brother Will who has a best friend Walker since they were kids growing up in Tulip and she has had a crush on Walker forever. One night away from home Walker sees Audrey in NY and they have one wonderful night together and then Walker ghost her and she is heartbroken. When Audrey returns home she purposely stays away from Walker but fate keeps bringing them together. Walker has a past he does not share that makes him act they way he does. He knows that Audrey is off limits as Will will not be okay with it but he wants her and sets out to show Audrey he is a good guy and sorry for his previous behavior. These two are to wrapped up in their own minds and can not see what’s right in front of them. Audrey becomes overwhelmed with wanting Walker but he keeps messing up that once they walk away from one another she is forced to hide a life changing secret. Can these two find a way to come together and share the love they have for each other? I hope to see some of the other characters in the next story. Growing up, Audrey had a crush on her brother's best friend Walker for as long as she could remember, but he never saw her more than a kid sister. But once they were out in the world, and grown up, Audrey ran into Walker and they shared a night of passion, they haven't forgotten. But when Walker ghosted her, can she forgive and move on?

Walker always saw Audrey as a kid sister that was too young for him among other things. But after their wonderful night together, he got scared and ran, never talking to her, but when he went back to talk to her, she was gone. But now she is back in town, can he make things right? Can he see past his "list" to see the perfect for him woman is right in front of him? What will Will say?

The story of Walker and Audrey is a sweet story, albeit they had some rough patches they both had to get passed to get their happy ending. Audrey knows who she is and who she isn't, but will Walker realize she is the one for him before it is too late? There were times I wanted to shake Walker to realize what he had, but he is a bachelor and had been burned once before. I received an ARC of this book from the author.

For the fourth book in the Small Town Protector's series, by Piper Sullivan, we find our fourth Hometown Hero, is a bit of a GHOST! Oh, wait, NO, "Mr. Justice," is a second chance romance, where our hero, Walker, "ghosted" Audrey. Kind of made a habit of it, truth be told. Just left without a word, and there was only the faintest impression that he'd ever been there, except for the hole it left in Audrey's heart. Now, this is a quick-read, and it's fast moving, as well, but I was really on edge, all the way to the end, as to whether or not, Audrey could ever truly forgive Walker. Expect plenty of drama, angst, heartache, misunderstandings, and some wide emotional swings. (Maybe, that was just me?) I kind of enjoyed that this series features such different couples, in such diverse situations. I can't wait for the next story, in this exciting series. I received this book as an ARC from the author, and I volunteered this review.

I liked this book and thought that the plot had potential. That being said, In the end though I was not a fan of either character. I thought that Audrey and Walker were at their best dysfunctional and at their worst just outright annoying. Walker in my opinion, was not a great guy. And I know. Yes, he had his reasons. Yes, she was his best friends sister. Yet, I still found he's actions unlikable. As for Audrey. Buy a vowel. Get a clue. And if the guy you have feelings for keeps treating you like that move on! Do not keep going back for more, again and again, while you wring your hands and bemoan the fact and make everyone miserable (yourself & him included) in the process. So, for me this was only an OK read because I found the characters so frustrating. This is my independent, impartial review.

Mr Justice made me feel sad at times, sad that Audrey's talent hadn't been celebrated enough that she was confident and proud about it. She had achieved so much and had so much in the pipeline; times have changed, people work from home, have home offices, can and do have meetings using computers! Sorry that just touched a nerve with me.

Mr Justice made me smile at the banter between Audrey and Will and some of her and Walker's journey. This story has strong connections, love, chemistry, friendships, family, hope and forgiveness shinning through. Once I started I had to continue until I had finished. Personally I would have liked to know what happened to Charlie....but that's just nosy old me! Looking forward to the rest of this series. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an ARC.

Short review. Mixed feelings. Walker and the side characters are likable but not enough to finish reading this book, Audrey sucks all the enjoyment out of the story. Her interactions with Walker are one dimensional, Walker shows up she asks him why he here's, she mentions for the thousand time that he ghosted her a year ago, he apologizes again, she doesn't buy his apology again. Wash, rinse, repeat. The only thing that changes with their interactions is the location and sometimes they kissed or have sex. I swear you could read the first chapters and skip to other chapters and wouldn't missed a single thing. When she found out she was pregnant and didn't tell Walker because she's determine to hold him ghosting her over his head no matter how much he tries to make it up to her. I couldn't finish reading this selfish, self-absorbed character any more.

one of the most unlikable heros

Spoilers ahead!!

Walker is one of the worst heros in this series. He never once actually listens to Audreys nos and steamrolls right over her and her feelings at basicaly every oppertunity. I dont care that his ex wife made him warry of woman or that he has a list of perfect qualities to be the woman for him (ok so that list is irritatting). Nothing about his behavior makes him likable. You say he redeems himself with her? How with what effort? Did he ever actually call her after spending a night? Did he ever stick up for her or wven speak well of her in front of say her brother? No he lies and lies some more. He dowsnt wver see her. I also think she was stupid to forgive him just because he saod he loved her. He never showed he loved her and words are cheap. Its a toss up between Antonio and Walker on who i hate as a person more.

Mr. Justice is local Prosecutor Walker Reid, also know as Mr. Spring Fling. That’s what he gets for missing a meeting of the Hometown Heroes Calendar men. Walker is the whole package—intelligent, hot, gainfully employed and going places. And he has a list for the perfect woman for him. Unfortunately Audrey Pearce doesn’t tick off any boxes on that list, even if he’s irresistibly drawn to her. Gorgeous and full of life, she’s also his best friend’s little sister. So after they have an amazing one night stand, he ghosts on her. Then when he needs a date for the Spring Fling, he tells her she’s his fate. A stubborn man with a plan, a feisty beauty who’s crushed in him for years, a wild attraction that won’t quit, and a several explosive secrets make for quite the read!

Simple but beautiful story
This story is a simple romance, sometimes hot, but it's mostly the characters I liked.
There is Walker who takes a while to understand what he wants, and Audrey who tries to forget about him all along. They are locked in their opinion of the other, of what they expect, without really looking at what they have.
Audrey might seem horrified by the rejections she inflicts on Walker, but she herself has suffered a lot from his previous behavior and they need a while to realize where they are in their relationship.
That's a beautiful story.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

This is the fourth book in this series, it can be read as a standalone story, there are no cliffhangers.
This is a well-written story, it's a quick fast-paced second chance romance, Mr Justice is in love with his best friends younger sister and she is nothing like the list in his head for his perfect woman, especially after getting hurt by his ex.
He ghosted on Audrey a year ago and now he realizing what he left and sets out to get her back but she is having none of the teenage crush eyes like she used to have. Walker has to work hars to get her back. This is an emotional read, plenty of back an forth, loads of angst.

Audrey and Walker have known each other since childhood, since she is the younger sister of his best friend, Will.
When they meet one night in New York, the attraction between them is so big that they can't contain themselves and spend a night together, but after that Walker disappears from Audrey's life.
When Audrey returns to their small town, the attraction between them remains strong, but she's afraid to open her heart to Walker and get hurt again, and he doesn't think Audrey has the requirements of his perfect girl list.
I loved the story and how they built their relationship. I highly recommend the reading.

I guess I just don’t get it

Professional men and women, adults, single, mutual attraction. Yet, they side-step around it because his (and it’s always HIS best friend, and HER brother) might not approve of their relationship.
Guess I find it hard to believe, in this case, a city attorney, considering a political career, would walk away from a woman he purports to love, because the friend/brother might not approve.
It’s a goofy, yet oft used concept that I never understand.
Aside from that point, it still wasn’t a very good romance. Have sex, walk away. Have sex, get mad. Have sex, run off. Not my idea of a good story, or a good romance.

“...you are special and precious. A treasure I didn’t even know I needed.”

Absolutely one of my favorites from this series. Walker and Audrey definitely don’t have it easy getting together. There is a lot of anger and hidden hurt from Audrey towards Walker and he must fight for the chance to prove to her that he’s the right man for her. She’s not sure she even wants to give him a second chance, he hurt her worse than any single person ever has and to complicate matters even more he’s practically family. He’s her brother’s best friend. They need to just remain friends. But that seems impossible when all she wants to do is either yell and scream at him for being a jerk and ghosting her or kiss him like her life depends on it....decisions decisions! One night in a fit of anger with him their passion takes over and everything changes, again. Walker realizes he’s in love with Audrey and Audrey decides she needs to walk away nothing good will come from this path. She knows, been there done that. Now Walker must fight for her, she’s giving up, and that’s worse than the fighting. But when Audrey learns she’s pregnant she must decide whether parenting together with Walker will be enough, or is she strong enough to make that leap with Walker, praying he’ll catch her this time? A must read!!

Man child and his list

Man child makes a list of what he wants his wife to be - nothing too awful - until he starts telling everyone what’s on his list then he becomes a misogynistic man child with views from the 1950’s.

Man child starts a covert romance with best friends foster sister but it’s all hush hush because she’s not got anything that he wants from this ‘list’

Best friends foster sister suddenly wears a beautiful dress, man child mysteriously realises that she’s everything he wants because she IS everything on his list and suddenly she’s enough and he wants her.

Woman melts at his feet.

The author takes us back to the small town of Tulip in Texas again...in this second chance romance we meet Walker and Audrey.
Walker is Audrey's brothers best friend and she has had a crush on him since they were kids but even though they have toe curling sexual chemistry Walker has a list of the ideal woman he wants to marry........and Audrey doesnt tick off all the requirements.....plus her brother would beat the hell out off him if he found out that he was sleeping with his little sister.

Audrey and Walker's story gives me mixed signals. Walker is this big shot lawyer who may or may not have political aspirations. He doesn't always act like that though. Audrey hold's a grudge like no ones business, but I understand her work personality. These two literally clash and the only thing they have in common is Will and their childhood together. The story was messy and rushed in some places, and drawn out and overdone in other places. It was entertaining, but couldn't have been better executed.

Loved Walker, a little annoyed with Audrey. Just because Walker is her brother Will's best friend these two dance around each other despite the obvious chemistry between them. Would have liked some more further interaction with the other Tulip residents as in other books in this series. Walker saved this book for me, so hot and so caring of the frosty, feisty Audrey. Looking forward to what I am sure will be Will's and Hope's story in the next in the series.

3 1/2*
Walker is Audrey brother Will’s best friend so typically hands off.
As he’s been married before he has a list of what he needs this time. Audrey doesn’t meet the list he’s made that clear, so why can’t he stay away?
Audrey knows she doesn’t meet the list but can’t resist him at times, but things are about to get more complicated and she has to put her foot down. Is she strong enough to cope without him and to keep her secret?

Sex, ghost, repeat...and repeat again and again. Sure, everyone deserves a second chance but at some point enough has to be enough. While I'm enjoying this series, this was not one of my favorites. I never really "liked" Audrey. At some points I wanted to shake her. Walker wasn't much better although I did warm up to him. With 4 of the 12 heroes down, it's time to look forward to #5.

He is her brother's best friend. She has had a crush on him for years. They have a one night stand. He ghosts her after that and it both hurts and makes her angry. He does not want to hurt her brother. She decides to leave him alone altogether. He still wants her but has this sill list of what a woman must do or meet to be his wife. Can they work through this before they really hurt each other for good. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.

This series is a smash Hit. Walker has a list he thinks his ideal wife should meet and fulfill. Audrey did not fit those requirements but he still wanted her. They are both stubborn and determined to deny what is brewing between them. The author continues to tell wonderful stories in this small town about people who love and care about each other and the town they serve. It is a pleasure seeing their lives intertwined and being fulfilled.
