Such an interesting, amazing book that I learned many things from it and totally enjoyed spending time reading it.
I like this type of books that introduce me more to the writers, and give me insight into their lives and how they started their careers. It was interesting for me to know the birth dates of the writers so I can see which authors lived in the same period of time.
It was a light reading but very enjoyable one.
The book’ contents are:
- Agatha Christie - Arthur Conan Doyle - Charles Dickens - Dane Alighieri - Ernest Hemingway - Ezra Pound - George Bernard Shaw - George Elliott - George Orwell - J. K. Rowling - Jane Austen - John Keats - John Lyly - John Milton - Lewis Carroll - Mark Twain - Oscar Wilde - Rabindranath Tagore - Sir Thomas Wyatt - T.S. Eliot - Virginia Woolf - W.B. Yeats - Walt Whitman - William Shakespeare - William Wordsworth
My version is missing pages for JK Rowling. I’d loved if there was a chart showing their timeline of intersections and when some lived on the same time. I’d also preferred the marriage and kids come as per the timeline, not at the end.
I also expected to read the train incident of Ernest Hemingway, which was the top highlight I recall about him, but not mentioned!
I’ve also expected to have some relatively modern writers, like Roald Dahl, and more diversity to other greatest writers from around the world.
