Changing Seasons is a short story written by Timothy Zahn that appeared in two Guardian of the People in Star Wars Insider 76, and People of the Guardian in Star Wars Insider 77.
The story takes place during the Clone Wars, whilst Anakin Skywalker is still Obi-Wan's padawan learner. It is set on the world of Dagro, where Obi-Wan Kenobi has gone to check out rumors of Separatist occupation.
Timothy Zahn attended Michigan State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in physics in 1973. He then moved to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and achieved an M.S. degree in physics in 1975. While he was pursuing a doctorate in physics, his adviser became ill and died. Zahn never completed the doctorate. In 1975 he had begun writing science fiction as a hobby, and he became a professional writer. He and his wife Anna live in Bandon, Oregon. They have a son, Corwin Zahn.
This is a very action packed conclusion to Guardian of the People. Again, the characterisations of Obi-Wan and Anakin are spot on.
Aside from the fact that the denizens of the world of Dagro are presumably human, this fits very well into the style of the 2008 The Clone Wars TV show—in fact it is strongly reminiscent of the Jedi Crash/Defenders of Peace arc from season 1: We have reluctant-to-help-the-Jedi farmers (like the Lurmen), nefarious Neimoidian weapons scientists (like Lok Durd) and and an injured Jedi hiding amongst the natives (although this time it was Obi-Wan and not Anakin). Whilst that might make it a little redundant, it is still an energetic romp in the Star Wars universe, and that's precisely what I was expecting.
Recommended to anyone who's suspicious of Neimoidians setting up secret research bases in their neighbourhood (and everyone else interested in Star Wars Clone Wars-era deep cuts).
