Born the oldest of three children, Patricia Haverton grew up believing that she'd follow in her father's footsteps and pursue a career in science. However, her worldview changed when she decided to explore her British mother's roots. The trip to her ancestral lands solidified her conviction that she had found her true calling in the romanticism of the Era of Kings and Queens.

A hopeless romantic and a firm believer in the idea of soulmates, Patricia changed the course of her life and decided to get her degree in Creative Writing and Psychology. As she jokingly says ever so often, "she lives in the past now, where love shows the way and Dukes save the day!"

When she's not weaving tales of love that prevails, Patricia enjoys spending time with her husband, roaming the British countryside, where they have been living in for the past decade.

Now would be the time to let yourself go and experience the true magic of the Regency Era! Let your imagination run wild, live amazing adventures through the eyes of brave heroes! Like the legendary wise wizard, Patricia will be your guide!

Book : The last lady of Thornhill manor
Author : Patricia Haverton
Pages : 186
Edition : Kindle

The Last Lady of Thornhill Manor is a regency romance novel set in England which has all the elements typical to a period novel slow paced, loss, love, villian on trail, trickery to gain the land and lady and the perfect happy ending.

Lady Amalia the sole heir of the Duke of Thornhill, after losing her brother Marshall to illness and his Father down with an illness that their physician couldn't quite put a finger on is being pushed to get married. She doesn't want to give in to a marriage of comfort but only for love, while making sure her husband loves her and not her inheritance.

The every endearing Reggie, Reginald Davidson, Marquess of Lyonhall, Amalia 's brother's friend, A suitable candidate to ask for the hand of Amalia in marriage, someone who holds feelings for her ever since their childhood but doesn't confess them for fear of rejection but stands by her side through thick and thin, waiting for her to acknowledge and return his feelings is nothing new for a typical regency romance novel but still beautifully portrayed.

Trouble comes in form of Freddie, Earl of Eastcairn who conspires with Patrick, cousin of Amalia to gain the title, inheritance and the Lady's hand in marriage.

While a sequence of planned mishaps gets inflicted upon the Main characters and how they find the culprit and then how Amalia and Reggie find their happily ever after is the story.

A short and sweet read for all those who love to read period novels.

Lady Amalia Gallagher is under a lot of pressure to get married. Her father is ill and he is worried about her future--all she is worried about is him!! She simply refuses to marry just anyone--luckily her father is in agreement with that decision. Her brother has recently died. He had a couple of friends who all used to hang out and have fun together--Amalia used to join them. One of those friends is totally in love with her--but thinks she thinks of him as only a true and trusted friend.

Her cousin, Patrick, brings one of his friends to dinner. This guy will not take no for an answer and as you will read ultimately goes to extraordinary lengths to get her to marry him. Luckily for Amelia she is strong willed and also knows that Reginald will always be there to protect her. Meanwhile her Father keeps having relapses--the physicians can not figure out what is wrong.

There is a shocker at the end when all is revealed---but also a very happy ending!!

There's no doubt there are many exciting moments in this book, and I enjoyed both MCs, but this is a Regency novel. The thought that whoever marries the daughter of the duke would become the next duke is not possible. That made it impossible for me to truly enjoy this book. I would suggest the author do some serious research regarding titles and inheritance of them. Sorry, but for me, this just didn't work. I even went back to the beginning, thinking I may have missed something regarding how the daughter and a future husband could possibly inherit, but to no avail. Thank you for the free copy of The Last Lady of Thornhill Manor, not sure how I ended up with this book. Also, I can'r find this book on Amazon. Happy reading!

This story is well written and the mystery in the plot is daring. The main characters are lovable. The problem with the story is that the author doesn't incorporate "the last in line" rule. All that the present Duke has will go to the crown. His daughter will marry whoever the King decrees and this man will be come the new Duke. The King may have agreed before the man's death if the daughter married who she willed, as long as he was an acceptable, he would appoint that man the next Duke. None of this is actually explained in this book. I just happened to know this rule through some studying. This book is only available through subscription to Patricia Haverton's newsletter. It is a great read, but it's kind of off putting without knowing the rules for "last in line".

Ms. Haverton does not disappoint in this novel. The unrecognized love between the two main characters BARELY save the lives of themselves and their loved ones. Ms. Haverton expertly weaves a growing love that has the power to heal lasting grief throughout an adventurous tale of greed and resentment. While some reviewers have taken issue with the author's artistic license, the bending of Regency protocol s did not deter from the story for me. An HEA was assured, however the road to it was winding indeed!
I received an Advance Reader Copy in return for my honest opinion of the book.

A well written period romance, with the author providing excellent character development. In my view one of the most enjoyable books I have read in this genre. The story line starts a little slowly, but picks up the pace and you find that you don't want to put the book down. I would recommend it to anyone with any interest in period novels. Will definitely be reading more of her novels in the future.

A ton of editorial errors, mostly words being run together. Somanyofthem. They kept talking about the title passing down through the daughter? I don't think that's a thing. I know romance doesn't have subtext, and as a new reader to the genre that still stands out to me, but this was clumsy. Just didn't hang together.

Will she ever find true love?

Most of England's nobility married forgai, wealth, title. Very few married for live. Amelia's brother was dea
d and she is list of title family. Her father in frail health. Reggie is her friend from childhood and loved her forever. Then things start happening. Reggie's mares are mysteriously killed. Amelia is kidnapped. HEA.

This was a very good story that had mystery and some intrigue. Reggie and Amalia are very old friends destined to be more to one another. They are drawn to one another through a series of events that threaten all they hold dear. Believable and entertaining characters.

Lady Amelia Is not one to be forced into marriage. When her father becomes ill, she has to rethink her decision. I found this book to be a little dry, too sweet for my taste. The mystery portion of the book is compelling and the reveal will leave you stunned.

I found it slow the first half of the book than it picked up and let my interest to the end. Each main character was described well. It was well written. Did enjoy the suspense in the story. When suspense started I could not put book down.
I did enjoy this book.

Absolutely kept enthralled by this novel about Amalia and Reggie. There's was an unconventional love story as they knew each other from childhood. It took dire circumstances for them to acknowledge their feelings for each other and get their happily ever after.

The last lady of Thornhill manor is Amalia and Reginald’s story of constant friendship and love. Although no surprises as such it made a great read. (Soft)
