Wow I was really surprised by this book it was a little to start but. But once the action started it held and kept my attention sir I do hope there is at least one more book to this one thank you
I have not read a lot of stories in this genre; so I though that I would give it a try as the premise here seemed to at least have a good supporting plot ... The audible narration was pretty good and actually made the story better than it would have been. The simple, over the top adult content was pretty amusing most of the time when somebody else is reading it, but that didn't save the story from its short comings. The most significant is that, by the end, the story seemed to be recycling and nover really going anywhere. Do some combat ... die ... wake your clone ... get lucky ... repeat. There was also a fair amount of just backgrounmd text (info dumps) that seems to be a common pitfall for authors these days that, while not necessarily terrible, does tend to hinder the story from being anything that stands out from the rest ... which is my take away here ... it was absolutely a fun distraction and if that is all you are looking for, I can recommend the audible version of this book. If you don't like harem/adult content, Mary Sue's or tropes in general, you might want to give this a pass.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I've read books with a similar premise, but I hated this one. There is very little character development, a lack of world building, shallow characters, and the decision the main character makes at the end of the book is him committing genocide, not acting for the greater good. There are no heros in this book.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Great storyline with a lot of room to grow into an excellent series. Plenty of action and characters that are easily likable. Can’t wait to see more of this from Marcus, none of his books disappoint!!
Someone else's review said it, and I agree that this started stronger than it finished. It's a real mash-up: harem space opera with notes of gamelit and Altered Carbon. It also appears that the author's first language isn't English, as there are are typo artifacts and the general writing style which reminds me of Eastern European/Russian writers.
Not fatal flaws by any means, but I feel that this book could have benefited from a more ruthless editor to tighten it up. This supposed to be a series, but honestly it didn't set the conditions for that very well, i.e. the ending seemed like a natural place to stop. Overall, interesting up to a point, but it loses its way somewhat.
I loathe idiot MCs. However, the book is soooo good. Bery unique take on the universe. I will read the next book, but please give him a brain. Too many died cause he is an idiot. If the idiot is not fixed then I will drop it as it is NOT entertaining to read about idiots. That is not a hanicap you give a MC if you want your book read. I want to read about people I can relate to. Not someone with an intellect i the negatives.
Really enjoyed this book. The story hits a good stride all the way through and there's a few unexpected twists that make you wanna read till the end. The world itself is quite interesting and makes you really think on how things would turn out in the space age era. Very likable characters in the story as well.
Story started out pretty good then went downhill. The main character went from being pretty smart and tough, to just plain stupid in several situations. The proof reading was absolutely the worst.
This has a few grammatical errors, but plenty of action and twists. The character development is detailed and paced well. This would be a 5 star after a little editing to be honest. The story is great otherwise. Interested to see if there will be a sequel to the book.
Really enjoyed this book a lot. Wasn’t sure what to expect but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely want another book or 3 on this series.
