Three vampire realms. A shift in the balance of power. And one reject.

Malik Demonbreun, the rejected heir of the Southern Vampire Realm, is thrown in the center of a deadly controversy, which may cost him his life. Again.

Malik sleeps during daylight and drives a wrecker at night. When his father forces him to return home, he becomes the focus of a deadly bid for a change of leadership within the realms. With no idea who is friend or foe, Malik searches for a way back to his disavowed life. But each step he takes moves him closer to his father's throne. A throne that Malik has never wanted.

He had no claim to riches in the reject life. But at least he wasn't living in a sick game of fifty ways to kill a vampire. He never thought he'd miss licking the blood from the seats of wrecked vehicles. One thing was for sure, rich or reject, Vampin' Ain't Easy.

Start this gritty and humorous series, Legend of the Vampire Reject, with Vampin' Ain't Easy by Kimbra Swain, author of the Fairy Tales of a Trailer Park Queen series. This is book one of four in the series plus a prequel which can be found in the Urban Magic Anthology.

I love this first book in a new series! A little darker and sexier than the author's other series' Malik will be your next book boyfriend. The characters are developing while still being complex. The mystery in this one goes in several directions keeping you guessing right up until the end. There is a lot of action and world building that makes the reader anxious for more. I can't wait for the next book.

A darker, sexier, quirkier side we’ve never seen

I loved the first book of this Vampire reject series.
Malik is darker, hilarious, and a fantastic new addition to Kimbra Swains books because he is definitely out of the ordinary.
The characters I was instantly attracted to, the plot thickens and the sexy appeal of it all definitely had me craving more.
I loved this book! I seriously can’t wait for the next one.
Not to say I don’t love FTOATPQ but this is a tasty, delicious and different treat than what we normally read from Kimbra, but in all the best and most delicious ways.

Malik grew up in his father's home, changed at 25, hating everything about what he was. He has a lot to learn about the ways of his people and his family's hidden secrets. As his father's sole heir he is supposed to eventually take over rule over the Realms. But he is a reject, who wants nothing to do with any of it. Malik has a dark sense of humor and is fun to get to know. I loved this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series. For those who enjoy the Trailerverse, Trust me on this....Kimbra does not disappoint with this new series at all.

Vampin' really isn't easy!!!

Malik hates vampires and his family. But wait, his family are vampires. And so is he. Poor Malik, heir to the realm and self proclaimed reject. He left the family home and survives on the bare minimum. Working nights driving a wrecker, cleaning up after accidents. As in literally. Liking the blood from the seats for food. Until his dad calls him home. Blackmailed to play nice for one weekend and then he can return to his reject of a life. All the Lord's are meeting for the stepping down of the Lord of the West and his son taking over.
Now starts all the intrigue. Shot at, kidnapped, framed. Malik doesn't know who to trust or believe. Somehow he needs to get to the bottom of this and stay alive.

Oh my God Becky! Look at that vamp...

A Vamp hating vamp who discovers that black and white is often pretty gray when he is thrust back into some particularly pointy politics.

Moody, broody, and a pro at the (mostly) friendly trolling; Malik speaks my love language- snarky sarcasm. He’s a vamp you’d want to have a meal with, or be a meal for.

I solid begging to a series I can’t wait to finish.

Vampin' ain't easy, but reading this book is!

I'm already a fan of Kimbra's. I knew from the start that this book would be a fun read, but seeing Malik's story progress, seeing his priorities shift and change as events unfolded around him, was great. He has potential as a character. A few of the side characters make me laugh, and I sincerely hope they make it into the next book.

Another amazing story by Kimbra

Starting out level: I started reading just because I absolutely love Kimbra's work.

However, even if i didn't already have a girl-crush on her, this book is an exciting start to a fun and fresh new series. I definitely dig the humor, questionable phrasings, and snark throughout a refreshingly not-overdone plot. I couldn't actually guess what would happen next and I love it! Cannot wait for the next one!

Clear your schedule and get reading now!

Did I think Kimbra Swain was going to pull off a vampire novel? Not really. Did she? Oh my heavens yes!!!

This is INCREDIBLE! A wonderful story about vampires in America. Terrific southern lore and general mythology. The characters have depth, they are humorous and they are definitely rated PG. it’s fast paced and you are not going to want to put it down for one second.

A New Series On The Rise

Malik is a young hot headed vampire rejecting his inheritance and hiding from his responsibilities. He is being forced to return to his father's home for a short time to fulfill his regal duties. He got way more than he bargained for. Between ex girlfriends, daddy issues, meeting a new sexy female vampire, becoming allies with her a new series is on the rise. A must read with strong characters

This book is an absolute riot. Malik wants nothing to do with his fangy birthright, but is forced to return to witness a Rite of Ascension. When he's drawn back in, he's battered by schemes within schemes wrapped around more schemes. A whole lot of fun watching him unravel this chaos with his trademark aplomb... Sorry, I misspelled snark.

What an appropriate title

Vamp in’ ain’t easy especially for Malik. He doesn’t want to be a vampire and fights it every step of the way. He’s snarky, handsome and a vampire Lord’s son. Lots of action, intrigue and hilarity. Stella is awesome ( you need to read to find out about her 😉). Great start to a new series by Kimbra. She’s such a talented author.

Ready for your new favorite vampire? Malik is here and you won't want him to leave. I won't give anything away, so just read the book. It's a fantastic story that leaves you wanting more. Depth of character, snark, humor, and a well thought out storyline. You thought you knew vampires, you were wrong.

Wow!

Loved this new series by one of my favourite authors! It’s a different take on the vampire books you read every day. A little bit dirty, a lot of laughs, some pain and pleasure! Roll in some intriguing twists and it’s got everything you want in a book! Congratulations Kimbra Swain on another great book!

The vampire that you never knew you needed!

I started out with the assumption that this was going to be just a silly vampire comedy. Holy carp was I wrong! While full of snark that I expect from Kimbra Swain it quickly became an action packed story of a leader destined for greatness! Pick it up today!

Wow

Love kimbra and was excited to read another of her series and she did not disappoint. Love that her main characters are not perfect and they might be vampires buy you can relate to the having to grow and adjust to the life you have and not the one you want and learning to love the life you have.

An interesting mix of WOW! And MEH...

I loved the idea of this book and the humor was a much welcomed respite from the blood and gore of the genre. However, the flow seems so stilted at times that it was hard to read. I was super excited to see a non-binary character represented. More of that please!

Pretty good

Great continuation to the series. There were a few places where I found it a little difficult to follow the conversations. I wasn’t sure who was speaking. A few action packed , heart pounding moments that I really , really enjoyed. I’m looking forward to the next book.

Life ain’t all parties, bling and upmarket homes for the heir apparent of the Vampire Empire of Nashville. Mainly because Malik would rather ignore the hated vampiric parts of himself, but life has a way of ruining his plans

First book in what will be another great series!
If you like your books snarky and unpredictable then this is for you. Yet again Kimbra has managed to take a popular theme and put her own very readable and different slant on it. Can't wait for more!!

A new take on Vamps

A truly fun read. It had enough twists and turns to keep my mind engaged, and enough snark and action to prove it was a Kimbra book. Malik makes being a reject look good.

Great vampire story

Great introduction to the vampire stories. Malik is an example of a man who didn't like where he came from, but the time came that he realized he needed to embrace his history and future. I'll be looking for the next book.

Loved it

I normally don’t leave a review unless I immensely enjoyed it. I loved the take on how he never lost his human self and all the jokes. Most vampire books have them as serious or even brooding types. And thankfully he didn’t sparkle in the sunlight.

This is a great start to what I hope will be a wonderful series. I was not sure if I would like it or not, since I prefer my vampire reads to be a little on the dark side. I found myself chuckling thru-out the whole book. I cannot wait to read the next one.
