I like to call this book, a good campfire story. It would spook the little ones. I actually liked the book and wish there was more to the story than what it is. It kinda reminds me of the story, Christmas Carol.. Except the story does not have 3 ghosts to haunt the character, only one . Also this story is with tweens not adult. Great book!!

Hallowmas by Chad Schimke delivers a gripping blend of classic Halloween charm and unsettling suspense. The story revolves around a group of kids decorating a haunted house for All Hallow’s Eve, blissfully unaware of a sinister figure observing them. Schimke expertly builds tension as the eerie setting and the stranger’s presence create a sense of unease, hinting at supernatural possibilities.
At just 39 pages, the story is a quick read that effectively captures the spooky spirit of Halloween night. While its brevity leaves little room for in-depth character development, the vivid descriptions and atmospheric tension keep readers engaged. The story leans heavily on the traditional motifs of Halloween but manages to infuse them with a fresh, chilling perspective.
Perfect for fans of short horror stories, Hallowmas offers a haunting narrative that will linger in your mind, making it an enjoyable read for the spooky season.
Couldn't really get a handle on this book. The story takes place on Halloween. Parents are out at a party the boss is throwing and their boy is having a party for his friends. Deadly things are hinted at, things that might potentially kill the kids. Nothing is resolved. It's a short story. It really needed to be extended in order to lead us through the possible, or eventual, outcomes. The author writes well and pulled me into the story, but in the end, it was a major disappointment.
This short story describes the world in great detail and the characters are easy to visualize in my mind. It's potential for creating nightmares make it a perfect tale for Halloween or around a campfire where everyone is trying to outdo each other's scary stories. I throughly enjoyed reading it and hope you will also.

Hallowmas Chad Schimke I loved this short graphic tale! Reading it gave me the same chills up my spine that I got when as a child listening to scary campfire stories, or saying Bloody Mary three times into a mirror! Received this ARC and am leaving an honest review.
