This book seeks answer to the questions that may hover in the minds of contemporary Muslims. It is a book not for the pious but for struggling Muslims trying to balance their faith with their aspirations. It is what the author has learnt about God and believes everyone must know, too. This book wants you to question and then, find answers that will lead towards eternal success.
Maham is a 19 year old self published author. She's a student of Social Sciences among many other things. She loves to explore new things everyday and polish her spirituality. Her search for inner peace led her to write her first book. She lives in Karachi with her huge collection of books and an unlimited supply of junk food.
I LOVE this book. I was thinking how to rate this book but honestly how am i suppose to rate a book which is based on someone’s journey towards God? Its the most difficult thing!!
I think this is the kind of book every teenager should read. The questions that arise in Maham’s mind are very common and I can tell you that almost every muslim teenager or even adult go through this phase where we question everything around us even our faith. Why we are doing what we are doing? That sort of questions.
Maham’s thought process was simple but very engaging. I never felt that someone was shoving their opinions down my throat. It felt like a conversation with a friend about faith, religion, and our creator. There were some things I didnt agree with but then again we all have different opinions on certain things and our thought process tends to differ but I REALLY REALLY LOVE THIS BOOK!
I would 10/10 reccomend this book to everyone. Its a very easy read but also very thought provoking. It’s the author’s first book and I think she did an amazing job!!!

An ebook for this book was sent to me by the author. For those of you who don't know her, she's an emerging Pakistani writer and this is her first book. She's a 19 years old girl from Karachi writing about her journey to find God in her book. The book revolves around one prevalent theme i.e. the journey of a person to find his/her Lord. It is food for thought, especially for those who are on a similar journey; those who need to discover who they are and what's their purpose for being alive. The book poses questions that are serious in nature but by no means strange or alien to us as most of us are, have been or will be facing such questions at one or another stage of life. This book takes the reader on a long journey of self discovery and soul searching. It will illuminate such corners within your heart and mind that you didn't even know existed. It will take you out of your comfort zone and show you the ugly realities of life. It will show how this world is just a bed and breakfast in the long journey of man to his Lord. We have always been so indulged in the petty affairs of worldly life that we forget the real reason why we're here. And this book does a great job at giving a gentle reminder that جگہ جی لگانے کی دنیا نہیں ہے یہ عبرت کی جا ہے تماشہ نہیں ہے Kudos to you Maham for writing such a thoughtful book and that too at such a young age. The writing may not be as mature as one would hope but the thought behind those words is definitely a solid one. I wish you good luck Maham for the book launch and I would appreciate if you would all read her book because #TogetherWeGrow.
The author writes about her Journey to find God, which is honestly so relatable because I remember we both started our journeys together, encouraging each other we reached a point in our lives where we knew what is wrong and what’s right and how to abstain from what’s wrong. The book Journey revolves around one substantial theme; the Journey of a person towards their Lord. Maham also differentiates between happiness and contentment, which really opened my eyes, because we always focus on the happiness and not contentment. Hence my favourite quote from the books is “Happiness might not last, but contentment does”. The book has questions that are serious in nature and no one dares ask them, but they have been there at one point or another. It talks about the doubts one may have about the major concepts and facts in Islam and how logical they actually are. This book reminds us of our actual goal in life and that this world is just a journey of a day or two. We are so busy in our lives, trying to achieve one thing after another in the world, fretting over petty issues that we forget the actual purpose of us being send here in the world, which is to prepare and achieve the hereafter. The book also unleashes some bitter realities of life. It also makes one realise that how people have the concept of reciprocity, being nice and helpful to one because they were nice and helpful to you, but they have no concept of being kind and helpful anyways.
Having confessed to where the author stands in her religious point of views is the main attraction of this book. As a Muslim where you see yourself in the Islamic ideology would be the question you may encounter, topic by topic. In general, the thoughts are shades of tiny experiences and observations the author performed to write this explosive journey of many realizations she learnt in her adolescence. Leaving a reader with questions that one would think and may not find answers if your belief in Allah and what He has told us is fragile and way backward.
The glance towards this Journey is also of transforming where she introduces the readers towards a path of what rectitude truly means. Not neglecting the fact, that each of us are flawed to a certain level, and every individual despite various Islamic beliefs should manifest the wisdom Allah has asked from us.
I have seen this book from a perspective of an outgrown muslim because of my strong and perpetual connection with Allah, since Childhood. But, I surrendered myself to see between the lines my blunders and unthoughtfulness towards the right and wrong.
The author has drawn light towards the darkness we are indulged in, and the best thing she has put herself accountable on many occasions.
This book is written with a simple and discreet language. Poetry in the last section worked like a total recovery of this book.
From The Book: Dying yet surviving, You are the one who has kept me living, Years and years have I wasted, By many others death has been tasted, My time shall come too, For me to meet You, Never preparing, neither caring, warnings of death though always hearing. What won't come easy Promises to set me free. Under shades of heaven's tree I wish to be, Yet my deeds are doomed My fate might not bloom Unless you guide me, Be pleased with me, Only that shall save me.
Do Share your journey of finding Allah's closeness!
I LOVED THIS BOOK. Journey is basically a journey of person towards the Lord ALLAH. And we all know journey towards Allah never be an easy thing. This book was divided into four sections : The beginning, Dealing with the self, Dealing with others, Poetry. This book is so thought provoking. She talks about different topics like family, friendship, faith, heart, honesty etc.It is journey of a struggling Muslim to get the answers of questions that was arising in the mind since forever. I can relate to this book the most because I am also struggling with the same questions that arise in her mind. I love her reasons about every topic. She didn't try to force her thoughts on other person but she talked about them with proves. She talks about how deeply we indulged into the wordly pleasures that we forget about the life of hereafter which is the actual life. But everyday is chance for us to ask for forgiveness , to go back to our one and only ALLAH.
• Happiness might not last, but contentment does. • The thin line between right and wrong is only noticed by the one who thinks.
• Charity is not a burden, it is an investment.
• Guidance comes from Allah directly but you have to make efforts always.
This is her first book but I absolutely love it so much. It was very engaging and an easy read. I would recommend this book to every teenager. You have to read this book at least once in your life.
