Hm. As a disclaimer, I read this because of MilkLove's upcoming series. Had this not be for that, I wouldn't pick it up in the first place as it isn't my cup of tea.
I have mixed reviews about the story. Cannot say much about the writing style because I read a translation and despite I paid for it, it didn't deliver as I expected. The spacing issue was a constant throughout the book. I hope the editor and the author can fix that because people pay for that.
For the plot itself, it was really gen Z, liking someone through chat when you don't even know how they look like, very gen Z of them. lesbian loser and her hot girlfriend will ways be one of my favorite tropes so I'm not complaining. What I wish the author do tho is to explore the platonic dynamic between Ongsa, Sun, and everyone around them. The interaction between Ongsa and Alpha was really funny, it was a fresh air in the middle of the drama that was going on. I know it's short and light, but there's no harm to not rush it and include the backstory more. And there was no studying sessions at all in it, well am i surprised? No.
There's also something I'd rather not read, the bisexual erasure. How is someone straight when they fell in love with the same sex? If they're not gay, doesn't mean you can assume they're straight. Bisexuality exists, and many other terms you can find on google.
But overall, it was an enjoyable experience. I hope the series will be even better than the book. I can't wait for MilkLove and ViewJune!!
Only read this to see what I can expect from the show and I'm conflicted. I did enjoy it overall and Ongsa & Sun did have some really cute moments but I feel like they didn't really grow as characters. The problems that they were having as adults were the same as when they were younger. They really needed to communicate better with each other. Also the way everyone, including her friends, was criticizing Ongsa throughout the whole book was really getting on my nerves. Like ok she's a klutz and can't do anything without hurting herself. I got it the first 308538 times it didn't need to be repeated over and over again.
Anyway, I really can't wait to see Milk, Love and the rest of the cast portraying this story. Hopefully some things are improved for the show.
3.5 *read this book because of the sapphic series as this book was written a long time ago, I wouldn't judge it from today's lens(e.g., heteronormative ideas, forced masculinity, some outdated plots). I was afraid I am way too old for this book but I feel nostalgia reading this high school love story as it reminds me of those queer crush I had when I was young. The "Sun" character is more complicated than I expected, she impressed me in the revealing scene (from all the things she could have said to Earth, instead, she chose 'how are you' cause she cares about her, my sweet girl!). The slow and repetitive character development is quite understandable for me, at that age we are all idiots sometimes (most of the time tbh), honestly, I think repetitive mistakes speak a lot about coming-of-age series. Lastly, I read it in Thai and I find the author's language was light and cute.
The additional background stories they are adding in the series about their family, interaction with friends, school contexts, and even the teachers' stories are definitely going to make the whole story smoother. I am happy we are finally getting the cute representative of Thai high school sapphic! Looking forward to enjoying the series!

so this is not the type of stories i’d normally read and enjoy a lot but since the show i’ve been wanting to read this and I waited for the show to end before i start reading it and i’m glad i did because i don’t think i’d have liked the show if i read the novel first because even tho it’s not that great but it’s so much better than the show. that’s what made me enjoy i had low expectations and everything in the novel was so much better than the show
LOVEDDD!! Ngl, the way the author did the time jumps at the end left me with more to wish for, but that’s okay since we could’ve never even got them. The way Ongsa and Sun went through their relationship together and grew together warmed my heart because they went through hell and back together and now they are engaged. Even when Sun was in the US and Ongsa was studying in Thailand they still believed in their relationship and didn’t let go because they thought their relationship and love for each other was more important than going out and finding something else. Overall great story and I can’t wait for the gl to come out and for milklove to portray Ongsasun!
