Patrick Pernetti and his wife, Gwen, are relieved to leave the stress and busyness of city life behind, following a bitter custody battle for Gwen’s son. A long weekend in a lakefront lodge is just what they need to recharge. Julian and Mary, a couple entering their twilight years, are easing into their new phase of life with not a care in the world, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. Life for everyone in the lodge is about to change dramatically. What begins as power issues with electrical devices soon dissolves into something much more troubling. As they try to unravel the mystery of what has transpired, Gwen and Pat do all they can to not let fear come in between them and reuniting with Gwen’s son in the city. If they make it through the first night in this dark, new world, they just may survive what comes next.

Not for me.

The story was good the pace was more plodding rather than the EMP panic to get back to the family. The characters were of mixed ages but seemed to mesh well together. It got quicker at the end and I'm confident that the next book will ramp up the speed.

My first experience of emp. Good buildup and development of the characters. A good impression of how normal people however different deal with a catastrphy.

Good Story ...

I wasn't sure what this storyline would be like since it involved an EMP. It wasn't what i expected but was actually really good. It isn't your typical 'prepper' book, but it sure does make you think. What if an EMP hit our country....how would you be affected?? How have you prepared?? Or have you thought about it and just been too busy to worry about it?? A story like this makes you think a little.

Not bad for an EMP story but just too many details not add up ie like a wolf attack one days walk from Washington D. C. There was a bit of character development for people that like that type of story but not a lot of action. There are better stories out there and to me the ending was too abrupt. It is as if the author just cut if off to make reader buy book # 2 in series to see what happens next.

Unknown tomorrow

After a custody hearing a couple take a few days at a lodge to relax. The day. before leaving for home everything quits working. No electricity, no phones, no cars will start. They no something is wrong? They have to walk to the city to find her son and father. But what are they going to find?
