My mom used this book to pull us up from working class to ... well, the next level, anyway.

This is one of my mother's favorite cookbooks, and half the things I know how to cook (admittedly, not a vast quantity) are from it. Annoyingly, I was planning to make the Fruit Torte tonight but a thunderstorm resulted in a power failure so I had to take refuge at my parents and pray that the ingredients for my dinner party don't go bad before my power is restored.

Makes me wish I was paying attention during the '70s where every dinner party was actually a cocktail party.
