Wow what an amazing adventure this was. So much intrigue and drama happening in this one. Well written plot and story line that was such a joy to read and so engaging. Well fleshed out characters that were a joy to read about. Such an enjoyable read that was so engaging from the start. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
We first met James Alexander MacDonald in an earlier story where he was a great help to another young Laird, Duncan , and his love Marra. We find him now on the Isle of Skye, as a Laird coming to grips with being a Laird in his own right. There was a terrible storm one night and a ship was battered to pieces on the shore. There were many bodies that needed to be buried, but under a flag was found a young English woman, still alive. She had a bad head wound and could only remember that her name might have been Elizabeth. She had a recurring dream in which her mother was murdered when she was but a youngster. As Elizabeth got better and started to gain strength, she hoped to regain her memory and figure out where she was headed and who might be looking for her. It was obvious that she was English and there were not many English around there at all. James was starting to fall in love with the young lady. He brought her to his castle for a celebration hoping that the festivities might help her to regain her lost memories. This fast paced, riveting tale has also a couple of nasty villains, who suffer a nasty downfall at the hands of James and his cohorts, and a fantastic climactic ending on the seas surrounding the Isle of Skye. Fiona, this is your best story so far!
An exciting highland action and adventure romance. James, the Laird of the Isle of Skye has secrets. Fear of exposure could mean the beginning of a large-scale clan war. Suspicion was his day to day life as he has been threatened to be exposed. Another delicate situation enters his clan's world. A shipwreck, one survivor, a female Englishwoman. The English are hated among James people and he fears for the young lady's safety. She has no memory. Little by little it becomes clear she is of high birth, educated and goes by the name of Elizabeth. James knows that the English will come to recover her and he wants to have as little as possible to do with them. He struggles through his growing attraction for Elizabeth and she for him. Little did they both know the danger that surrounded them both could bring war to the Isle of Skye from within or from without. An excellent story. I do recommend.
Highlander's Wicked Desire by Fiona Faris brings the wild Highlands of Isle of Skye to life with all the fast-action action with an captivating storyline. Its a fast-moving rollercoaster ride full of twist and turns that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat. Each and every character came to life and you find yourself drawn into their story. The scenes are so strikingly detailed it paints an incredible backdrop that makes you feel like you are one with the story. James and Elizabeth are so well developed you feel every emotion that they are feeling throughout their story and become very endearing as the love progresses. With delicious passion, trials and tribulations, hope, secrets, drama and those villains you love to hate make this one outstanding read that you won't want to miss. I always enjoy how well Fiona brings in the other characters from other series making for cohesive storytelling. I look forward the her next book!
I loved it . An absolutely awesome book and I believe it’s the best one she’s written yet . I could barely put it down other than thru exhaustion and even then only when it reached a place when I thought things might turn the way I wanted them too. So many interwoven threads together made it a very interesting read and hard to put down . Anyone who likes a good love story w intertwining plot lines will thoroughly live this book and consider it a must read. You never know how it will end w the dangers and suspense around things until you actually get to the last few pages other than the epilogue of course even then she has a surprise or 2 in store to keep you wondering lol
I was going to give a 4-star rating but there was a sensitive social issue tackled here that is still prevalent in society. I’m not giving any spoilers though.
I can’t say that I like Elizabeth. Her character wasn’t that developed. She is a noble Englishwoman who is educated, and she is also feisty and speaks her mind. I just don’t like the situations she lands herself in.
James is a Laird who carries the weight of a secret on his shoulders but in William, his Keeper, he found a great support system. There are surprising truths that were uncovered which lead to a stronger clan.
The love scenes were passionate and both James and Elizabeth had that chemistry. It’s not exactly love at first sight but the moments they spent together made it work.
There were several topics that revolved around the central storyline in this latest exciting novel by Fiona Faris. The action and drama were what we have come to expect when we read a book written by this author but what was not expected was the excellent way she handled the subject of unwanted sexual encounters that according to history were almost a given on a daily basis for the women of that time period. Elizabeth was a strong woman dealing with amnesia in a land unfamiliar to her and James was a hero in every sense of the word!

“ Highlander’s Wicked Desire” by Fiona Faris is a tale of James Alexander MacDonald... Laird of the Isle of Skye....although his leadership of his clan is hampered by issues from his past that cloud his Lairdship and endanger his clan. Treachery abounds and mysterious missives accuse James of involvement in matters he is unable to resolve....until fate intervenes and a mysterious lady...with secrets of her own... washes up upon his shores...together they traverse a troubled land beset by squabbling clansmen...the specter of British invaders ....and the yearning of their own hearts. Much enjoyed and Highly Recommended. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book.
When a ship load of dead English sailor and soldiers were washed up on shore, on the Isle of Skye, it was a moment of foreboding, for surely more English would come to find their lost comrades. English that had never shown anything but bestial lust and vindictive arrogance to the Highlanders. Then, someone else was found alive, which cause even more consternation. An English Lady, dressed in the finest, signifying her social status. Such a woman would be missed, and further sought, once her disappearance was discovered. Unfortunately, there was a slight problem... You need to read this adventure in the words of the author, to receive the true impact of this endearing and brave tale.
Elizabeth is the only survivor of the shipwreck off the coast of the Isle of Skye and is taken by James the local Laird to the croft of Samuel and his wife Anna a healer for the clan. She suffers from memory loss along with the wounds that she received in the wreck. When James becomes concerned about more complications abounding around the past of Lady Elizabeth and more Englishmen and soldiers coming to Skye to look for her, he sends men to find out more about her betrothed and her father.
Exciting Highland Adventure filled with secrets, action, danger, romance and love. Wonderful characters, well-written storyline that keeps you turning the pages to find out what happens next. The attraction between James and Elizabeth grows steadily throughout this story. By working together, their problems seem smaller. Love certainly conquers all. I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I loved this story and can't wait to read Robbie's. This story line kept me guessing from page to page, so much excitement laced with fear and heartache! It was completely spell binding to me with a lot of strength as well as pain for women of Knock Castle, as I have also been a victim of rape at the age of 13 it really spoke to me. Bottom line you can't go wrong with any Fiona Faris book! She's awesome!!
Like the Scottish tradition of storytelling, this book draws you in and holds you there as the story is told by this masterful author. This is the second of three books in the series. Though it can be read as a standalone, reading the first book provides a better understanding of who the other players are and how their lives are interwoven. If only men like this were still around today...if only I were as strong as Elizabeth...
Gripping!! Betrayal, secrets, intrigue, romance, and fast paced action. I love the challenge of an English and Highlander liaison/romance, and these two did it in spades for me. Engaging strong characters and even stronger passions for love and life. I enjoyed every minute I spent with this group of people and became invested in their journey. I highly recommend this read.
A lengthy love story taking place during medieval times showing some of the horrors visited upon women and men by the leaders of their clans. James takes over as Laird after his father is killed. He slowly discovers the sins done by his father and begins to try to right these wrongs. An eye opening story.
I liked this book, but it was a little bit generic. The main characters were not as developed as I wished, and the villains were over the top cartoonish. Made me think of Snidley Whiplash and Dudley Doright. This author has talent, and I am sure she will continue to develop her skills. Thanks for a couple of pleasant hours.
I've read this author several times and usually find her novels refreshing. This one I ended up looking at the release date / year. Quite a few similarities of the hit series " Outlander" or maybe I've watched the series one too many times to see the similarities. Over all it was a fair read and kept my attention.
This was a story of James MacDonald and Elizabeth, a shipwreck survivor. There were menacing characters in Elizabeth’s life, and it was up to James to solve the mystery of who she was and where she was going. Lots of excitement, mystery and intrigue in this story. I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the third book in this series.
Elizabeth is washed up from a ship wreck with not much of a memory. Laird James brings her to a cottage because she is not Scottish. As the book plays out their lives are entwined but James has a duty to his clan. Such a great story. Slot of dangers and heartache. A great series
Her ship was destroyed in a storm and she was the only survivor but had lost her memory. He’s trying to clean up an ugly mess his father created to keep his clan united. It will take these two people working together to fulfill his clan’s needs.
This is a love story between an Englishwoman and a Highlander. This book has drama, suspense, intrigue, fighting, twists and turns, love, romance, and wonderful characters. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and gave my honest opinion.
Elizabeth and James....you have to read this book! Full of none stop action and adventure. And of course romance! This was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. A shipwreck..secrets...danger...I highly recommend!
Loved this book. But then all Fionas books are great. The story line keeps you enthralled in it.And very hard to put down once into book.Keep the stories coming please.⭐️⭐️
Fiona has done it yet again! These characters steal your heart. The treachery they have to endure. The love they develop for each other. Who is blackmailing James? This is a must read that I highly recommend.
The story was spellbinding, loved the characters, they were so in love with each other, the secret that turned into blackmail, the battle that seemed hopeless, the near death experience and so much more
This is a fascinating book. Very difficult to put down. It is filled with strong characters both good and als discipacable ones. There is a very strong plot as well. There were times I had tears in my eyes.a very written book!
I'm a regular reader of Fiona Faris books and this one is another that I highly recommend. This book was a real page turner with a storyline that was well written. Betrayal, secrets, intrigue, romance, and fast paced action that kept me totally engaged throughout the entire book!
Perfectly charming and heartwarming characters. Just enough heat! Interesting plot that kept me thoroughly engaged throughout. Enjoyed every minute of it!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
I liked this book, but felt the pacing was a little slow especially the first half of the book. I contemplated a few times not finishing the book, but I’m glad I did the storyline was interesting and the H and h had depth and they were likable people.
