Her mother has filled the itinerary with endless activities, and she's even invited Cora’s ex-boyfriend in an attempt to get them back together.
Although she feels overwhelmed, Cora gets a blast from her past that could impact her life forever. This is one welcome reunion she did not expect...
Will Cora make it through a week of family togetherness? And will she be able to say aloha to someone she thought was out of her life forever?

So much fun! Cora is not looking forward to spending a week with her family, even if it is in Hawaii. She has nothing in common with her mom and sister, her brother is married to her worst enemy, and her cousins make her want to pull her hair out. But it is her parents 40th anniversary and it’s paradise, how bad can it be? When her dad starts leading a calisthenics class in the airport and her ex boyfriend shows up to join the family vacay, Cora is now convinced her first instinct to skip the trip was correct. But when Cora gets to the islands she finds out that her childhood crush will also be joining the Festivities, maybe paradise will be just that. Ohana drama, fruity drinks, waterfalls, coconut bras, hula lessons, roasted pig, helicopter trips, family pictures, sunrise yoga, sunset vows.
Loved taking a trip to Hawaii with this crazy family. There were so many laugh out loud and heartwarming moments in this book. Cora was a great character and I loved watching her get her HEA. Also loved how this family grew closer throughout the course of their vacation. Warm sunshine, tropical breezes, ocean spray, family drama, and romance.
5☆ A Feel-good, Highly Entertaining, Laugh out Loud, Rom Com! Not to be Missed!
Love and Ohana Drama is a thoroughly Entertaining, Feel-good story filled with Family Dramas, Ex's, A Childhood Crush, the most adorable Peepaw all set in the stunning Hawaiian Backdrop.
This is the kind of book that most people can relate too. The interfering family members, the annoying in-laws, the drunk Aunt & Uncle, The annoying yet loveable Cousins and then the Peepaw, who has the biggest heart, but not too old for a lil bit of loving of his own. Oh and throw in for good measures the Ex you just broke up with, followed by your all time childhood crush. That just so happens to be single & ready to mingle!
That's exactly the situation Cora finds herself in, when her Mum and Dad decide to pay for the whole family, to jet off to Hawaii for their very special wedding anniversary. Cora really doesn't want to spend anytime with her overbearing family. But she can't find an excuse not to go.
But maybe just going away on the trip of a lifetime might just bring her closer to her family, and a chance of romance.... little does she know what's awaiting for her!
Poor Cora I seriously felt so sorry for her. Her family do not listen, her ex kinda wants her back. But then Owen her childhood crush, has blown her socks off by turning up and flirting with her!
Expect plenty of Laugh out loud moments, Drama, Romance, and a stunning location. The characters are a loveable eclectic bunch and as I said before will certainly be relatable.
If you are looking to escape from the horrors of Covid and whisk yourself away to Hawaii for some Fun and Frolics then I highly recommend you pick up a copy of Love and Ohana Drama. This is the first book in a New Series and I can't wait for the next installment!
Thank you to Rachel Random Resources for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This was a lovely story about a dramatic family who reunites in Hawaii but with mixed results. From the beginning, Cora is reluctant to attend, knowing that despite the short holiday, there will be plenty of drama and incidents. She was certainly not wrong…
Imagine how awkward Cora feels when she realises her mum has invited Cora’s ex-boyfriend on this holiday! Poor Cora, she ended things with Jackson but Jackson still remains very much part of the family. Being best friends with her brother and also viewed as the perfect potential son-in-law by her mother, Cora has no choice but to accept his company. After all, when your parents are paying for all expenses, you can’t really complain who has been invited?
The premise of this story is the Fletcher family reuniting at this anniversary celebration. I loved the use of ‘ohana’ in this story. Being a Hawaiian term, it means family and extended family – hence Cora’s mum’s best friend attending, as well as aunts and uncles. The word triggered my thoughts of who I would consider my own ‘ohana’ and I think this is a nice touch from the writer to involve the reader more in the story.
As you would expect, when Cora realises her childhood crush is also on this trip, she is suddenly very aware that her feelings had never really disappeared. As the holiday passes by, Cora realises she needs to take advantage of being with her crush and do something about it – despite the watching eyes of her mother and ex-boyfriend hoping to rekindle their relationship. Therefore, it is a sweet romance story and I think this added to the relaxed nature of the setting.
However, I would have liked to see Hawaii feature more in this story. I think it is an essential part to the plot but I did not get a true sense of the story taking place there. In my opinion, it could have taken place in any beach resort, even though there are some references to grass skirts and some Hawaiian locations. I wanted to see more of this island explored in the pages. For example, Cora and Owen’s tour of the island could have been extended in more detail, really taking advantage of this beautiful location. This was one of the reasons why I could not really award this book the full five stars.
The characters are all pretty likeable and the plot is unsurprising. I could anticipate the confusion that occurs between Cora and Owen; it was a bit predictable but this did not lessen my enjoyment of the story. It had a sweet, hopeful conclusion and I felt supportive of Cora and Owen have a successful relationship. However, I did not find this was a ‘laugh out loud’ type of book as implied in the blurb. Yes, it was a little bit comical, but it was definitely not provoking any chuckles. Maybe I’m just difficult to make laugh?!
A pleasant story that takes you to the beaches of Hawaii – perfect for a change of scenery! I was excited to see that this is the first of a series; the following book focuses on Cora’s friend so I would be interested to see what happens next and whether Baldwin catches up with the characters she has introduced in this book. This is a great example of holiday fiction and I’m pretty sure many readers will relate to the drama that poor Cora has to suffer at the hands of her own family.
With thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Grab yourself a tropical drink and prepare to lose yourself in this delightfully, clean romantic comedy. From page one readers will feel Cora’s anxiety at the mere thought of going on this trip.
This one is cute and fun. The h is from one of those colorful families, which can be annoying, but in this case they actually succeed at portraying the family members as both loving and eccentric. As I’ve mentioned before, this author has characters who behave like polite adults. There is some bad behavior, but when it comes to relationships there is much more communication than typically seen. For example, no one goes running off to Antarctica without asking questions when they see their new love interest talking to their ex. There is some OW drama, but it is very low stakes because the two main characters communicate.
I’m ruminating now on how hard it is to strike the balance between OW drama and good storytelling. If there is OW drama but the H shuts her down immediately without ambiguity, it’s not very exciting. You see that a lot with Insta love books. There’s no real purpose for the OW to be there because it is so clear that they have no possible way of winning the H. Any activities that the OW participates in, or actions she takes, tends to be those of a cartoon villain.
If there’s too much ambiguity, I dislike the hero. I think the best OW are ones who have insinuated themselves into the H’s life and are able to leverage this in a way that makes it very hard for them to be removed. Lynne Graham does a good job of those.
I have enjoyed every book I've read by Melissa Baldwin and Love and Ohana Drama was no exception! Once I started this book, I ended up reading it in one setting! Ohana (family) is what this book is about. The zany Fletcher family and their closet friends are headed to Hawaii. Cora Fletcher is a public relations executive who lives with her cat Kiwi and best friend Fran. Her parents are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary with a week of fun in Oahu. Cora's older brother Shawn and sister-in law Brynn, as well as her younger sister Maya and brother-in-law Hunter will be there along with her aunt and uncle, 2 cousins, her grandfather and his girlfriend. Unbeknownst to Cora, her ex-boyfriend--Jackson--, whom her family loves, has been invited too! Then to really make things interesting, her girlhood crush shows up with his parents who are good friends of the Fletchers. When I finished reading this book, I wasn't ready to let Cora and Owen go. I want to find out what happens to them next! If you like fun romantic comedy, I recommend this book!
I love stories like this. The ones that are highly entertaining--full of drama, embarrassing moments, quirky characters, humor, and swoon. That said, I would DIE if my family was as crazy and dysfunctional as the Fletcher family is.
Cora's parents are celebrating their anniversary and invited (and paid for) the whole family, along with close family friends, to come along to Hawaii to celebrate. That right there is a recipe for disaster and it sure was. Cat fights, jealousy, recreations, and more lead to a lot of laughs and awkward moments, but there were also many sweet things to love.
I've mentioned before I'm a big believer in timing and Cora's childhood crush, Owen, is coming off a divorce, but now? There were big, sparkling sparks flicking between them--even with Cora's ex attending the events. I loved their connection and interactions, and the setting was divine. But I loved the family bonds and loyalty best of all. Sometimes family isn't just related by blood, but it's who is chosen and all the messy relationships were perfection when it really came down to it.
This is such a fun, lovable story!
Content/TW: mild+ language; mild language (kissing/some light innuendo); drinking/drunk behavior

Love and Ohana Drama by Melissa Baldwin is a great book to read on a winter day. You can visit a resort in Hawaii with Cora and her crazy, dysfunctional family and friends.
Poor Cora must deal with a family that always thinks they know what's best for her, long-hidden rivalries, and the aunt and cousins from hell. When you throw in an ex-boyfriend and a long-lost love, you have a story made for a romantic comedy.
I enjoyed the lushly described settings, as well as the well-written characters. It would definitely take an all-expenses-paid trip to paradise for me to travel with that much family! Cora had my sympathies throughout the story.
Will Cora Ann survive the anniversary/reunion trip with her sanity and love life intact? Check out this quick read to find out.
This was...fine? I'm not a huge romance reader, but still enjoy them on occasion. I just didn't care for this over the top family and their antics, I found them all not very likeable except for Peepaw 😂
It was nice being taken to destination Hawaii. It certainly made me want to go for real. This was a clean and wholesome romance with a few laughs to be had between the pages.
Wow what a family, I don't think I could cope with being related to any of them. This is a fun read and with all the dramas I kept hoping things weren't going to get in the way of Owen and Cora's happiness. I would have been happy for this to go on a little longer to confirm Owen and Cora did get their HEA despite their careers. This is a first read for me of a story by this author & I look forward to more.
I love Melissa's books. This is another great clean romance comedy. The characters are a little crazy, Cora is the only normal one in the Fletcher family. After a breakup that her family doesn't agree with, the Fletcher's have a Hawaiian family reunion and invite the ex-boyfriend in hope of a reconciliation, unbeknownst to Cora who is not happy. A last-minute guest, Owen, who is the son of her parent’s best friends (who are also normal), also Cora's first crush is a great surprise and there is an instant attraction. How will her family influence this triangle?
I stayed up reading this one. I love Melissa Baldwin’s writing. She writes easy to read books with likable characters. The main character here, Cora, is likable even if some of her family members aren’t. Cora has to endure a lovely Hawaiian vacation with family and the setting is magical. This book is fun to read and has lots of happiness as Baldwin does so well.
Loved this book, it has everything, romance, family drama, and Hawaii of course. The characters are fantastic, especially Cora. The family she has to endure is totally dysfunctional, but they mean well. Surprises galore abound throughout the story. Add this book to your TBR pile, you will be glad you did.
Melissa has done it yet again! Love and Ohana Drama keeps you glued to it from start to finish. The characters come to life, one can see someone in their own family just like each character. This is definitely a very funny and feel good book! I would encourage you to read this!
I LOVE chick lit. It is my favorite genre! I haven’t read a book in this genre in over a year! So when I saw this one, I jumped at the chance to review it. Plus, look at the cover. It’s so pretty! Nicely done. Got my attention right away.
WHAT I LIKED
The family dynamics. Oh this family! It was just pure comedy seeing them interact with each other. The crazy, drunk aunt, the attention-seeking cousins, the intrusive mother and sister with good intentions, and the annoying people the siblings refer to as spouses. Even with all of this craziness going on, Cora’s family clearly love each other. I absolutely loved all of the drama-filled moments with her family because it was so relatable. And you realize that family is family, no matter how irritating and complicated they can be.
The romance. I don’t want to give away anything, but the romance was really sweet and realistic. What I noticed right away was the dialogue between the characters. It just felt so real, like those conversations would really happen. It made me believe in the relationship completely. Plus, it wasn’t over-the-top. And what I appreciated was the pacing and the unique ending, which isn’t typical of this genre. I loved it.
Relatable main character. I felt like I was reading about myself! She always has her head in a book, she would much rather read than do anything else to escape the real world, and she would love to find the kind of love that her grandparents had. LITERALLY ME. I highlighted so many parts in this book that just described me to a T, which made it that much more enjoyable.
The comedy. OMG I couldn’t get enough of how funny this was. I rarely laugh out loud from books, but this one had me laughing so many times, which was such a pleasant surprise. It was just too funny, and I can’t wait to read more of Melissa Baldwin’s books.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE
I guess one minor thing is that I noticed some repetition. There were certain phrases or explanations used more than once. But that’s really it. And it didn’t bother me enough to affect how much I loved this book. I loved every single moment!
OVERALL THOUGHTS
I really needed this! This was the perfect start to my summer. I definitely plan on reading more chick lit. More chick lit from Melissa Baldwin specifically. She is amazing! I can’t believe I am just now discovering her. WTF?! So, so ecstatic! More please!
Cora can't stand her family. They are so stressful, she almost backs out of the Hawaii-based family reunion - and when she arrives at the airport, she finds her ex was also invited because her mom still wants him to be part of the family. Can her holiday survive the Fletcher family drama, and when an old crush resurfaces, will Cora take a chance on love?
This was a sweet and sunny trip to Honolulu full of leis and trips to the beach. Yes, it's an idealised view of Hawaii, available only to wealthy tourists, but everyone could do with a luxury escape. Trust me, it will give you a serious case of travel envy. I had a holiday booked to Hawaii last year and I'm still sad it didn't eventuate.
Cora was a delightful relateable character with her love of reading and sense of isolation from her own family. I wished her every happiness and cheered when she enforced her boundaries, though there was a moment when she texted her mom during the flight to Hawaii (illegal but also impossible) that had me rolling my eyes.
I'm such a sucker for family feels. There's a large cast, almost all of them Fletchers, but the book doesn't feel overstuffed because while each are dramatic, they fit into the overall story and don't have an extended character arc of their own. I loved how everyone who went to the reunion ended the story a little better than they were before and I liked them all a little better than I did before. Even Brynn.
This is a happy book and I think it'll make you happy too.

Fasten your seatbelts for a trip of a lifetime and escape to Hawaii!
For newly single Cora Fletcher, a paid-for family holiday to celebrate her parents' fortieth wedding anniversary...sounds perfect! Only it's not because she knows she will have to spend time with some people she'd rather avoid, like her sister-in-law. However, her best friend Fran convinces her to must go and besides the fact she hasn't got a convincing excuse not too. Therefore, she accepts the generous offer…. Sounds perfect, right?
The narrative is busy with a huge cast of eclectic characters as the Fletcher family and friends fly to paradise for the celebration. Packed full of fun and frivolity, it's escapism full of laughter as the antics of this dysfunctional family unfold.
My first Melissa Baldwin is a delight to read. The novel lifts the spirits with up-beat plot-lines, distractions and an overwhelming sense of feel-good vibes. Just like the title says, there's drama, love and of course a happy ending.
Overall, Love and Ohana Drama is an entertaining novel and a perfect distraction for current events affecting us all.

The Fletchers reminded me a bit of the Berry's...we are loud, you can't miss us, we are all up in everyone's business, no secret is kept a secret and we love like you've never seen. We are fiercely protective of one another and sometimes we do weird things. Where we take a hard left turn away from the Fletchers...we would never be caught dead in coconut bras and loin cloths.
Interested? You should be!
This was such a lighthearted and fun read. I had just finished reading The Push and I needed light and fun. I needed family drama in Hawaii with coconut bras and tipsy Aunt DeeDee's. I absolutely LOVED the family dynamics, the Hawaii imagery and the love story decades in the making.
When you need a great beach vacay book, an escape from our pandemic world or just an excuse to check out more about the coconut bras, pick this up! You won't be disappointed!
Also...side note...thank you Jojo for convincing me to check out Kindle Unlimited, this was another find from there and I absolutely loved it!
Love and Ohana Drama is an awesome beach read, perfect for an imaginary getaway (especially if it’s cold and wintry where you are too). There’s enough wackiness, drama, fun, and hijinks to keep you entertained and coming back for more.
Cora doesn’t quite fit in with her family and she’s not looking forward to days together for a family reunion, even if it is to celebrate her parents’ anniversary. Being in Hawaii does help take some of the sting out of it … until she finds out her ex-boyfriend in coming along as well. Things are going about as well as she expected … then she runs into her childhood crush. Maybe things are looking up? Of course, it’s not smooth sailing, especially with her family around, but love might be there if she’s willing to take a chance.
Baldwin’s latest is entertaining, with enjoyable (albeit self-centered) characters and a feel good ending all around.
(I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.)
If you want to read a good book with a crazy family, look no further! I am not sure how Cora can be the only sane person (besides her loving grandpa), but she clearly is the "normal" one. I loved all the crazy people in her family, especially her mother (coconut bras!). What I really liked about Love and Ohana Drama is Cora becames more vocal as the book progressed and stands up for herself at all the right times.
I found Love and Ohana Drama to be full of hilarious scenes with a great cast of crazy characters. Oh course you can't "love" in the title and not have a little steam tossed in too. If you are looking for a nice, warm, sunny place to retreat to while reading - go on this adventure to Hawaii. You won't regret it and will have a great laugh while visiting (reading). Don't forget your grass skirt!
This is a true escapist read and it is a delight to travel over to Hawaii for the family celebrations. With three generations invited, you are given an amusing look at how they all relate. Family and friendship is at the heart of the story and if you were wondering, 'ohana' is the Hawaiian term for family. Of course, not everything in the family celebration goes according to plan. Cora is such a relatable character. Family dynamics are complicated and, in many ways, she feels like a slight outsider to her more extrovert siblings and family members. The reader does tend to agree with her reaction to them all. The colourful behaviour of many of the guests adds to feeling of celebration and there are plenty of humorous moments. I thoroughly enjoyed this read- a real tonic on a wintry day.
In short: Travel, romance, family. Thanks to the author for a copy of the book
Please judge this book by it’s beautiful cover – because it is a fantastic read!
What a hilarious book! You can’t help but empathise with Cora from Page 1, even if you don’t have a totally dysfunctional family, I imagine that most of us can all relate to that ‘one family member‘ or that ‘one friend‘ that you’d really rather not spend any unnecessary additional time with, let a week or more, stuck with them abroad.
The Hawaiian location descriptions are amazing and just the tonic you need on a gloomy January night in the UK, especially as we are in lockdown, it’s a chance to escape to somewhere tropical and fun.
Fast paced, I read it in 3 sittings, which is pretty fast for me – unputdownable to be honest, my only criticism is – I need to know what happens next for Cora – hope there will be a sequel, that would be something to look forward to.
I would maybe give this story 1.5 stars. It was the cheesiest of the cheese. Entertaining enough to read and finish, but I did skim through a lot of it. The writing and the dialogue were very simple. There were a few lines in there that literally no one would say in real life. “I was doing push ups and sit ups” just here in my hotel room. Who would ever specify that when speaking to another person? For having the word drama in the title, the drama in the story wasn’t very exciting or that big of a deal. The MC has a insta love second chance romance, but there is nothing interesting that happens with their relationship. The attempt at drama with an ex wife showing up amounted to nothing and fell flat. The ending was lackluster and boring.
A pretty good Romcom. The story is about Cora and her over the top Fletcher Family. A Family and Friends reunion (to celebrate her parents 40th anniversary) and an all expensive paid trip to Hawaii. Throw in some surprise guests, to much alcohol, and family drama, you have a story. I thought over all it was a good read. I liked the main characters, Cora’s mother was ridiculous, but considering she had a great name 😉, I’ll let it side. There were some funny moments and some sweet romance. I didn’t like the innuendos of 89 year olds, getting it on, but all talk of sex, was behind closed doors. I think it could have been a lot shorter. A lot of repeating of what had taken place. Give it a read if you like rom cons with lots of drama and a little romance.
A light hearted read just among the holidays this was a tale of childhood family friends who always liked excited but were never in a place to act on it and after decades finally connect. Of course it didn’t hurt that it all took place in Hawaii. And there had to be some angst thrown in. This just happened to be her family’s, family reunion. With a bitchy SIL, a pushy sister, and a meddling mother, the odds were stacked against her, but she handled it with grace as she just let nature take its course.
Wow, Cora has an eccentric family with no boundaries. I love that there is character growth for the whole clan in this story. Cora feels like the odd one out but manages to embrace the differences. Owen is sweet and worthy of his leading lady. And the Hawaiian backdrop was a magical foil for the whole plot. There's intriguing and drama galore. Family is messy, but as Cora comes to realize, our families are precious beyond price. On to book two for Fran's story.
