About the Author - written from the point-of-view of his 15-year old daughter (that's me! :)

Some say that M. Sasinowski writes until 4 am... fueled by a single cup of decaf coffee. Others say this Polish-born American hyper-nerd absorbs energy from late-night TV space shows. No matter the truth... he's my dad. He will never be cool.

He loves archaeology, Star Wars/Trek, martial arts (especially women who kick butt), and impromptu father/daughter (that's me! :) science debates or music jam-sessions. He's kind of smart, I suppose (he has a physics PhD, and an MD, or whatever) and likes to build computers for fun.

His teenage daughter (that's me! :) is occasionally a handful to deal with and also served as the inspiration for the main character in his debut young adult novel Heir of Ra.

You may recognize him from his glorious hair or his tendency to do the "vacuum cleaner" dance to embarrass his daughter (that's me... :(.

If you ever see this man, approach with care and greet him in a language he understands, like in Klingon or, better yet, in Wookie.

Guurrghghgh!

All good things have to come to an end and it rips out my heart every time I finish a great series. This is the second series that I have finished just this month and man o man I am like dying.

This was by far the best ending I could have asked for. This last story with beloved Alyssa is one that I won't soon forget!! I loved her story and the relationship that she had with her dad. This one left me on the edge of my seat though every page and I couldn't put it down. I will totally be going back to reread these again later!! I finished this at around 3 or 4am and man I wouldn't have changed a thing. This one was full of twists and turns that I didn't see coming and I don't say that often!!

I love this conclusion to the story and man if you haven't read these you need to get on that!!! I can not wait to see what else M. gives us readers in the future. This is an author too look out for!!

‘I am Alyssa Sarah Morgan, Daughter of Horus and Anja. Blood of Ra. I have no fear’

Polish-born Virginia author Maciek Sasinowski thundered onto the literary scene with HEIR OF RA one of the best conceived and executed fantasy adventures that, while directed toward the Young Adult audience, adult readers with an appreciation for his mixture of mythology, science, and adventure will find it makes a fine impact. He continued that impact with DAUGHTER OF RA, and now offers LEGACY OF RA and he just gets better! Of note, Maciek’s humor, liberally sprinkled throughout his books, is suggested by his daughter’s biographical summary: PhD in physics AND an MD (!) with a keen interest in archeology, martial arts and music.

LEGACY OF RA is Book Three of the series BLOOD OF RA, and a fine new installment this is. As is his trait, Maciek opens his volume with a cast of characters – a fine way to update the reader not only to the personnel, but also a reminder of the story in books 1 and 2. Capturing the flavor of the saga, the book opens north of the Arctic Circle as we read, ‘The frigid winds slipped through Alyssa’s thermal gear and bit into her skin. She drew the heated parka tighter around her and used a gloved hand to wipe the snow from her visor for the tenth time. Who knew doing surveillance was like being stuck in the armpit of some frost giant? She scanned the white expanse that stretched before her, then shifted her pupils down and blinked, activating the optics in her visor. The landscape zoomed in, and a square building rose out of the snow: their target.’ The wry wit and personality Alyssa and the fumes of mythology mixed with adventure fill the atmosphere as this book moves at an unbelievably rapid pace to satisfying ending.

Compliments for the ’chef’ the plot is summarized tightly – ‘The Rathadi, defeated and ravaged by illness, are in hiding. Alyssa must awaken Horus's last memory to unlock her potential and claim her birthright as his Legacy. Can she overcome her greatest challenges and fears, both from outside and within, and lead the Rathadi to victory in their fight against Nephthys?’

Probably too frequently YA fantasy books are described as must read/un-put-down-able, but in the case of this novel the description is a tight fit. Maciek Sasinowski has produced a saga that ably combines contemporary characters admixed with gods and mythology and science and genetics and keen adventure. Very highly recommended – for all audiences!

Holy smokes this book! The first two books have so much suspense and mystery but this one takes the cake! I found myself on the edge of my seat needing to find out what happens next. The author does such a good job to make you not be able to see the ending and be shocked until the very end. You will want to laugh, cry, scream, and rip your hair out all in one book with the emotions it will pull out of you. One of my favorite trilogies of all time!

More Than Decent

I loved the premise and the different take with the mythology. There were some confusing parts, but overall, okay. The ending was a little confusing and lack luster, unless book 4 comes out, as the series shouldn't end like this.

Great story but..

This story kept me completely engrossed for several days. I love the history incorporated into a fairly unique premise that the story is based upon. However, the ending was extremely disappointing. I felt like the author lost the thread of the story and couldn't quite pick it up again, and as a result the end seemed cobbled together and weak. I really feel as though the ending could've been much stronger.

That being said, I would try more of Mr. Sasinowski's books. His writing was engrossing and stimulating and I couldn't put these books down until I finished them!

On a side note, I'm extremely impressed with the author's personal accomplishments. And his daughter's "author bios" are not only sweet and well written, but they portray the author as a wonderful father and man. That alone is enough for me to try his work again. Anyone who inspires that much love and loyalty, and leaves me with such a positive feeling, has earned some loyalty from me.

Horrible ending!

Maybe I’m a romantic but after reading all 3 books I was beyond bummed that the sequel ends like this! I must say, I regret reading this... I sincerely doubt that I will be reading anything else written by this author. If you like depressing endings then by all means read this sequel, otherwise chose another.

Review 4.5 rounded up to 5*

The Legacy of Ra is the third and final book in the Blood of Ra trilogy. I loved it!

Alyssa Morgan is an interesting character. I love her take no prisoners attitude, but she also can be a little reckless. Alyssa has faced many challenges throughout the series and grown as a character. I love reading books like this. However, the final challenge she faces may be the biggest yet.

I have been eagerly awaiting this book. The story continues from the end of the second book. It sees Alyssa facing hostility from her half-brother, as well as from some of the Rathadi. With the death of Horus, Alyssa will need to unlock the last memory of his to gain her powers. Meanwhile, Paul and Natasha are in the clutches of Nephthys. As danger surrounds them all, will the Rathadi be able to cure the illness created by Nephthys? And will Alyssa manage to rescue her friends and gain her legacy?

As I said in my review of Heir of Ra, I love a good YA thriller/mystery, and this book has it in spades. I began to read it, and the action starts immediately and doesn't let you go until the last sentence. I love myths and legends, especially Egyptian folklore about their gods and goddesses, stories about Atlantis, and even alien origin theories, and this story has a fantastic mix of all these things.

Legacy of Ra continues in the same vein. Several twists and turns shocked and surprised me. There are also a couple of scenes that had me in tears. I loved meeting all the characters once more, some more than others. I reached the end of the book as an emotional wreck — that ending. I will not give anything away. However, I will say that I had mixed emotions and was left a blubbering idiot as I knew I would miss these characters. They have become friends. Although one could consider the ending as final, the author (in my opinion) has left room for him to potentially write another book or series following one of the other characters. Whether that was intentional or not, I cannot say. Nevertheless, if he does decide to do this in the future, I would be happy to read it.

M. Sasinowski is a fantastic author. As Heir of Ra was his first book, I think this author is one to watch. I love his fast-paced writing style. His characters come to life on the page, and I can picture the scenes in my mind's eye with ease. I also love the story flow, which runs smoothly from scene to scene. I am considering adding him to my favourite author's list.

This time, there are scenes of a sexual nature (not explicitly shown), and there is some violence, so I feel that parental guidance may be required. I highly recommend this book (and series) to teens and adults alike who love YA science fiction, fantasy, action, adventure, thrillers, mysteries, mythology, and romance genres. - Lynn Worton

Fantastical original Trilogy

It's very rare for a series to continually get better, more unique, and more fascinating as it goes on. This series definitely breaks out of that mold. This series starts strong continues to grow in strength and finishes in such a fascinating and amazing way I was truly sad to have gotten to the last page of the book. Typically when I leave a review I will tell you what I like what I didn't like. It may be a couple specific however I dare you to take this adventure on your own. There were many times during the series that I felt like Bastian in the attic of the school reading a story that comes along oh, if your lucky, in your lifetime. So many times I walk away from a story and forget it shortly thereafter. This series I felt a gnawing eagerness to find out what happened in the conclusion, and when I reached the end, a sense of sadness similar to the first time I saw the credits role for Return of the Jedi. However, I would find myself constantly revisiting the story and finding something in the first book that ties directly into the last book, as if they were specific Easter eggs placed brilliantly interspersed. These three books triggered a memory buried deep, the "AHA!" moment. The last I did encountered something like that was David Eddings over the course of two five bookos series. This transported me to a whole new world that Feynman would be proud.
For the sharp-eyed and astute reader, you will notice references in this review to The NeverEnding Story Star Wars, the Belgariad, and the Mallorian, as well as as one of the greatest physicists to have walked the planet. Yes, that is quite the hodgepodge, yet you may still be wondering what this series is even about.. the best way that I can honor the three books masterpiece is to compare it to other great works out there. I'm giving you an idea of what realm the story travels down. Imagine if yoy had been told beforehand about the lines " I am your father", and "You can't handle the truth" it would have robbed you all the truly great experience.
Given him this is a review for the last book in the trilogy, it's a fairly good bet that you've read the first two. Give someone in your family a worthty gift instead of my goto''s: Ties and socks. Everyone needs them and it the most exciting gift to give right? Nobody would ever suspect I would give them ties and socks again right? eWhen was the last time any of us could say that we didn't just give someone the gift of the book, but a whole trilogy? If that question made you hesitate and pause for even a second, then its been far too long. Great stories are meant to be shared, gifts are always better in 3's.

The epic conclusion to the best-selling Blood of Ra Trilogy, LEGACY OF RA does not disappoint. When the intrepid Alyssa Morgan received a gift from the god Horus in book two, she never dreamed of what might follow. As the current embodiment of the sun god, she has yet to tap into the memories buried deep in her psyche. They will come in time. But the knowledge she needs to save the Rathadi, her people, is needed now. There isn’t much time before all fall victim to the virus that the evil Nephthys has infected them with. Everything depends on speeding up the memory process. There are two possible outcomes: success will save Alyssa’s people, failure will cause her death. Add in the opposition of Heru-pa, Alyssa’s half-brother who was destined to become the next Legacy, and you have the ingredients for a Grade A story. Especially when Nephthys, now herself infected with the viral weapon she concocted, is seeking a new human vessel. All these things combine for a 5-star story (once again).

It’s often been said the story is in the details and author M. Sasinowski is a master of this art. Most trilogies have one (maybe two) book where the story drags but not this one. From page one of book one to the final page of book three, we are on a fast-paced, thrill-packed, roller-coaster ride through ancient mythology framed in today’s technology. When I picked up book one and found myself deep in the Hall of Records beneath the Egyptian Sphinx, I was hooked. I immediately ordered books two and three, know I simply had to read the entire trilogy.

Fans of Indiana Jones, The Hunger Games, and The Bourne Trilogy with a bit of James Bond thrown in for good measure will be enthralled with LEGACY OF RA. Will the conclusion satisfy the reader? Yes. Is there more to come? I certainly hope so.

I’ve just added author M. Sasinowski to my extremely short list of favorite authors.

Alyssa had escaped, taking with her the critical data that she needed...but...at what a cost? Her best friends had been left behind under the control of the person who was most likely the worst enemy of humanity...the Rathadi had suffered a incalculable loss...and the power and knowledge of a god had found its way to an unexpected receptacle. As the world rushes towards its end, sacrifices need to be made...betrayals are uncovered...and death finds its final victory over more than a few.

It's with a little bit of sadness that I write this review. The BLOOD OF RA series has been an amazing journey and adventure and this, Book 3 - LEGACY OF RA delivers that journey to its final destination. Maciek Sasinowski has crafted a wonderful trilogy filled with characters - both good and evil - that I learned to love AND hate...and a little bit of both for some. His story telling and pacing draws the reader along in its wake as it rushes toward a powerful ending Sasinowski stays true to his characters throughout, growing them and delivering a final product that was a entertaining and enjoyable. And, after all, isn't that what a good story should be about? This last book had me hooked so deeply that I didn't put it down until I crossed the finish line at page number 309 with both a smile at the end AND a frown because it WAS the end.

Hopefully, we will see more from the author...whether it's expanding upon this series, or opening up new worlds and new characters to his readers.

AND...as always...his daughter Sarah has written a new ABOUT THE AUTHOR segment at the end. As fun as the story itself was, I truly enjoyed reading Sarah's brief moments at the end of each book and watching as she matured and her writing and story telling skills developed in those classic little flashes (Sarah...I'm waiting for YOUR first adventure!!!)

That's it for now...Until next time!!!

What a marvelous find this series was – and while I’m sorry to see it end, I’m delighted at the way all the moving pieces have come together into a fabulously coherent tale that I have thoroughly enjoyed! If you are a follower, you will have noted that I’ve already raved about books one and two. Book three delivered every bit as seismic a shock wave as the previous two, but also brought with it a sense of resolution that tied all the loose ends together in a way I never would have imagined but that, in hindsight, somehow also felt entirely and comfortingly right.

In this third piece of the increasingly-complex puzzle, our fearless and heroic protagonist Alyssa (or, if not entirely fearless, at least entirely and completely undaunted even in the face of her fear – and after all, isn’t that what makes someone truly heroic?) finds herself once again in the thick of ancient political struggles that have carried over into modern times. Her ability to manage everything that is thrown at her with aplomb, panache, and more than a little snarky sass is one of the things I have enjoyed most about my time with her. This is NOT a young woman who sits by and waits for things to happen to her. True, she often finds herself complicating her own life (and that of her loyal team of compatriots) by doing so, but she never shirks from her responsibilities (real or perceived) and her willingness to muscle through even when things seem stacked impossibly against her is what generates much of the tension and delight in this series for me. Inheritor of a legacy she never knew existed, let alone played a part in, she manages to right wrongs both ancient and contemporary this time ’round, and she does so through her unique blend of frustrating independence and compelling interconnectedness. She’s a formidable ally AND foe – a lesson that has been drilled into the brains of every character she has encountered throughout her journey.

I continue to find the intermingling of various lesser-explored mythologies fascinating, as well as to be impressed by Sasinowski’s ability to craft a highly original yet reflective mythology of his own. This, coupled with his ability to spin a compelling tale that feels at once timeless and timely, is one of the hallmarks of this series to my mind. There’s something for everyone – political intrigue, family and relationship drama, mythology, coming of age, fantastic creatures, action and adventure – and its all melded together into a story that feels utterly and completely coherent and cohesive. That’s no small feat and a testament to the author’s talent at creating worlds and characters and then knowing just how much can be thrown at them to maximize tension without ever sacrificing the story’s integrity. It’s a magnificent feat, particularly given how involved this world is and how carefully the tale is spread out over three books.

I was delighted by the author’s daughter’s afterword, which alludes to future books set in this wholly original and utterly compelling world – prequels, side tales, sequels… The possibilities are as boundless as Alyssa’s ability to sniff – and snuff – out trouble and I for one hope we get to visit many of them!

Thanks to M. Sasinowski for introducing me to Alyssa, the Rathadi, the Society, and all of the individuals who have populated this imaginative tale – and for my obligation-free review copy. If you haven’t read the series yet, definitely pick them up in order – this is a complex world and its enjoyment is vastly enhanced by following things as they roll out…

5 STAR REVIEW

The final book in the trilogy, Blood of Ra, is an absolute winner!! Fast-paced, action-packed and filled with shocking moments that left me on the edge of my seat. The last book didn't wrap the story of Alyssa in a neat little bow, but instead, it colours her story with loss, victory and discovery. Each character went through an epic transformation and wasn't left the same.

Paul and Alyssa's relationship went to the next level and both of them endured much hardship. Lord George Renley became more trustworthy and we see a new side of him. Tasha proved herself stronger than ever and endured hardship that changed her. Each character paid a price for the victory achieved.

Maciek Sasinowski did a fantastic job with the last book. He created scenarios that are mind-blowing! My favourite is the scene with the red crystal and Alyssa saying 'I am inception'. That scene alone is so well-written that I needed to read it twice. Emotions are raw and real, and every character will stay in my heart.
Thank you Maciek Sasinowski for the opportunity to be a part of Alyssa's adventurous journey.

A long read.

This book is not a stand-alone book it is the final book in a trilogy and as such cannot stand alone but must be reviewed from the perspective of the entire trilogy.

This story in the very good story it is a very interesting perspective on Egyptian mythology the problem however was it was over long I've had too many twist to it and I found in the end that it was very difficult for me to keep reading to the end because it was never ending Adam back the story didn't end she did a suspended animation and can be brought back to life I do not know if there going to be another book to it they did have a chapter of a prequel when they talk about whores before his ceremony and yes it will be a very interesting world and as the world can evolve it could become something very much like the dragonriders of Pern where there's all sorts of stories involving the world turn a McCartney did a wonderful job on that and the legacy of them pass to her children who her son is continuing to write stories and of course in the end he was riding him with his mother I'm having problems with this dictation is it the third attempt to finish up this review I like the way the author built on the Egyptian mythology however I felt that the story was way too long and you cannot judge any of the individual books without reading all three if you enjoy the Egyptian mythology this is an interesting retake of it

It was an enjoyable read, as good as the first book I think. Fast-paced, exciting, and the author certainly didn’t pull any punches! I have so many feels 😭
Also, the glossary of characters at the front was brilliant as a refresher on who everyone was and their places in the story!!
And I loved the pop-culture and nerd-dom references and quips scattered throughout!
There were a few continuity issues which confused me throughout the story, but by 80% through the book those issues were cleared up and I could focus on the story again.
However, I don’t understand the ending at all. Why was Alyssa dying/of what? And why did she choose to get frozen? Does this mean she’s dead still or just in limbo? They say the time of Horus is also at an end; does this mean no more transferring the Legacy?
And what about Tasha? Does the golden eyes in the prologue just mean an awakening of her Hybrid blood that she now has, or does it mean the memories of Nephthys are still in her head after all?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

This is the third book in this series and it’s fast paced, has a very good plot and well-written.
The Rathadi ( a reptilian military) has been defeated and ravaged by illness and are in hiding.
Alyssa Morgan was raised by Kade Morgan, an archaeologist who moved to Cairo after his wife’s death when Alyssa was ten. In book two she learned that she was a decendent and a daughter of Horus and Anja thru past lives. Now Alyssa must awaken Horus’s last memory to unlock her potential and claim her birthright as his Legacy. But can she overcome her greatest challenges and fears, both from outside and within, and lead the Rathadi to victory in their fight against Nephthys? (Nephthys had been born to Horus’s mother as half Rathadi. Leader of the Pureans, enemy of the Rathadi, being reincarnated for millennia via transfer of consciousness).
It may sound boring, but it combines fantasy, history, mystery, and a touch of romance!

After reading the first book in the "Blood of Ra" series, Heir of Ra, and the second book, Daughter of Ra, I was anxiously awaiting book three of the series, Legacy of Ra. As this is the last book of the trilogy, I definitely wanted to take my time with it.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat almost from the beginning. I have to admit I got more than a little emotional towards the end of the book. There are definitely many twists, which I feel has been a common thread in this trilogy.

Cons: I’m sad that this is the last of the trilogy. One part of me wants to know what happens to the characters after this (because the door is definitely open for more story). The other part feels that this is a good ending to the series.

All in all, I definitely enjoyed this book. I can’t wait to read the next book that M. Sasinowski releases!

I hope it isn't over.

I read a lot of books. A lot. The Blood of Ra series has been one of my favorites to read. Many of the books I have read, especially on kindle, have decent, even great stories but are lacking in the grammar and editing department. Sasinowski obviously had a professional editor. This is great news for Allysa, Paul, Clay, Tasha, and the ancients. Their adventure be read with ease. You will be reading action and adventure but also a great deal of history seen through the eyes of myth and legend. The perfect blend of science fiction, I do hope Legacy of Ra isn't the last I read from this wonderful author.

I wept at the end

I do not want to recount the storyline of the last book in the Blood of Ra trilogy. I would like to see the author continue the story
in some way. The entire series is an extremely compelling read. You will not want to stop reading so you can sleep or eat. The way the trilogy ends in not exactly an end at all.

I can only say, please read this trilogy and enjoy the excitement, the suspense, the tension, the valediction of the ending. I can only give this book and trilogy five stars, it deserves many more. I have not enjoyed any books more in ages (I am old) and most highly recommend this book and the two that precede it. Read these books.

Best of a perfect series

This storyline has the depth of archaeology, yet thrill of The Legend of Atlantis. These characters are so well written he makes you love or hate them at will. I can't stand Kamal! Dirty traitor! (Poor guy, isn't even real and I despise him). You want to root for Tasha in all her sheer tenacity and fierce resistance. I think the way this "ends" is great, until another epoch passes, then when awoken, what will be left to find?Ancient Atlantians and humans living in peace alongside The Society and a child mind about to awaken prematurely...it could just be the start...

The EPIC end to an ancient mythology mystery meets modern bio-technology adventure thriller!! What a great way to end a trilogy! If you loved the unputdownableness (like that?) of the first two books, this third book keeps that same excitement but adds a more serious side to the adventure. The characters have grown (wait till you see...), the stakes are even more serious and the conclusion final (or is it?).

Really loved this whole series and this final installment is a perfect companion to the other two!! Great fun to read!

An amazing read, action packed, and fun!

He’s done it again! An amazing read, packed into this little book. The characters are well thought out and well done; and the reader is transported into the story with the locals that makes you feel as though you’re right there with the characters. An amazing end to the trilogy, and a seasoned reader will see the avenues left open to do more in the series later.
Left breathless and wanting more! Very well done, I wholeheartedly recommend the series, and am anxiously awaiting more from the creative mind of Maciek Sasinowski!

In this third and final installment of the Blood of Ra Trilogy, protagonist Alyssa Morgan, daughter of the Egyptian god, Horus, must stop the evil Nepthys from destroying the Rathadi race with a deadly virus.

Like the other two books, it is a fast-paced, action-packed, cinematic read. There are plenty of twists along the way to keep the plot interesting. The characters are well-developed with complex motives and personalities.

This book, along with the other two in the trilogy is highly recommended for those who enjoy science fiction, fantasy, action, adventure, and mysteries.

Like the previous books in this series it is fast paced and loaded with action.
I'm a tad confused on the ending though. I thought this was the last but it didn't seem to actually end. Either it's been left hanging for another book to follow or the ending was terribly flat. It was wrapped up way too fast. And I didn't like that.
BUT, I still loved the series. I think it would make for a fun movie series too.
If you've not read the others, please do. You won't get through one without the previous one.
Enjoy

I did not expect that. What a thrilling end to a trilogy. This one had my attention from the very beginning. Lots of ups and downs with some unexpected twists. These characters have come such a long way in such a short time. I thoroughly enjoyed this entire series even through the hiccups I experienced with accessing the first couple books, totally not anyone's fault. Now I am really looking forward to reading the prequel that is sitting in my que. If you like a good mix of fantasy and thrills you should really read these books. I look forward to more good reads from this author.

My goodness, the story is turning from better to fantastic! There's an adrenaline rush adventure, the danger, the discovery, rescue operation, and to top it off, there're twists and turns, which seriously caught me off guard.

But, I wouldn't say that I liked the conclusion to the story. I'm a HEA seeker! The ending to this trilogy leaves room for a spin-off, and I'm not opposed to the idea! Whenever you're ready, M. Sasinowski. As of now, I'm happy that we have another book, a prequel to this series, Dawn of Ra.

Powerful and moving

Twists, turns, intrigue and action galore is how I would describe this book. So much happens that I can’t believe it all fit into one volume. Alyssa goes through a tremendous amount and makes an amazing transformation, with Paul right by her side. Unlikely allies are revealed as well as a traitor. Read this book. You will not be disappointed. I can’t accept this is the end of the story. Or is it?

Fabulous finale

Without giving too much away, this book closes the trilogy of Ra with equal parts sadness and hope with enough crepiness to give you chills. The book is just as action packed as the previous two with plenty of interesting characters and excellent ties to Egyptian mythology.

The legacy continues...

Alyssa has done the unthinkable! The fight for the legacy and the war between two species are in her hands. I keep forgetting she is still a young lady that will make mistakes that will cost her. I hope there is another book about Tasha, the tiny scene at the end gives me hope.

Wild!

What a well written ride this has been going through the Blood of Ra trilogy! Legacy of Ra was an awesome way to tie it all together. With the wrap up of this trilogy I look forward to seeing more from M. Sasinowski.

Absolutely mind bending

Cannot describe all the twists and turns in this trilogy, fascinating, and so imaginative. Have always been fascinated by Egyptology and Atlantis, so this is the best of all worlds.
