In this screwball romantic comedy, Haruhi, a poor girl at a rich kids' school, is forced to repay an $80,000 debt by working for the school's swankiest, all-male club—as a boy! There, she discovers just how wealthy the six members are and how different the rich are from everybody else...
In middle school, Tamaki Suoh must entice the coldhearted twins, Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin, to join his newly created Host Club. But in order to get them to accept his proposal, he must first best them at their own game.
Bisco Hatori is a Japanese manga artist. Bisco Hatori is a pseudonym; she states that the name has special meaning to her. She has worked for such magazines as LaLa. Her manga debut was A Moment of Romance in LaLa DX. Her first series was Millennium Snow. However, the comedy Ouran High School Host Club is her breakout hit.
That episode where Tamaki is faking a cold to ignore his feelings for Haruhi is gold, and that ending where Mori admits he wants to kiss Hunny, that’s GOLD people and I’m personally offended that it was not included in the anime version.
This one had a few episodes that weren't on the show. I think it's getting more in more into some of the newer stuff I wouldn't have seen before. I really love this series and will be sad to see it go when I make it to the end. That's why I'm just taking my time with it.
The hijinks continue as we continue the origin stories of club members, this time focusing on the twins, whom I think I can finally tell apart. We also get an exchange student who shares some emotional resonance with Tamaki, and the boys contrive to bring a little elegance into Haruhi's life. Tag on another great episode of Love Egoist and you get a really fun little volume that manages to pull your heart strings occasionally.
More Hikaru and Kaoru backstory! These precious boys need to learn to trust others. I adore Tamaki for making that happen and for making their lives better. I think in the volume Bisco Hatori said that this is the last volume that will have backstory on the characters. I’m a little bummed about that because I do like peeking into their pasts, but it will also be great to be moving forward with the storyline!
The Princess Michelle episode was cute and a bit heartbreaking. Tamaki being sick because he’s starting to realize he’s having un-fatherly feelings for Haruhi was just hilarious. I’m glad he’s starting to realize his romantic feelings for her. Hopefully he keeps progressing!
Then we had another Love Egoist episode. This one didn’t include any inappropriate teacher/student relationships and was cute… so that was nice.
All in all—a 5/5 stars volume! And now I’m halfway done with the series. ^.^
The stories just didn't grab me the way the previous volumes did. The story on how Tamaki met the twins wasn't as interesting to me compared to how they met their nanny in the last volume. The story of Tamaki's day at home wasn't as interesting as I thought it would be. The Michelle story was my least favorite and it was 2 parts, unfortunately.
Of all the random guests the host club has helped with their personal problems, Michelle was only second to that elementary school boy for most annoying, in my opinion. Even having the explanation for her behavior, it made for a two part story I found annoying to read. There's a sweet moment between Tamaki and Haruhi, though where they bond over their relationships with their mothers.
桜蘭高校ホスト部 (Book #9 of ‘Ouran High School Host Club’) by Bisco Hatori: ★★★.5 → ‘To dream doesn't mean putting yourself in a box. It means realising the essence of what you really want to do.’
I loved the first (how the twins joined the Host Club) and the last (Tamaki having the flu) episodes. I didn't really care much for the episode with the princess, though it does give us a bit more of a background on Tamaki and the opportunity to let him and Haruhi get closer. I love how freaking clueless Tamaki is when it comes to his feelings for Haruhi, haha! The bonus material was once again superb, I want an Egoist Club series!
I liked the first story in this volume about how the twins joined the host club. I also liked the third story about Tamaki being “sick.” I could have done without the second story about that annoying princess though.
MORI ADMITTING HE THINKS ABOUT KISSING HONEY??????? AJKDJDGAJKGDKJADG i was robbed of this information as a child... hitachiin backstory my beloved.. i love you tamaki... although!! i am sad that haruhi being the only one that can tell them apart was not included it tied everything so nicely together in the anime!!
-The one not me is Hikaru, and the one not Hikaru is me. We are separate individuals. This is absolute. But together we are one. Together we are one sole entity. This is also absolute. -You want people to treat you as individuals... yet you want them to understand that your are one. That's peculiar. -Other people can't understand the simplest things. We always thought everyone else was stupid. -Our motto was to immediately delete whatever bores us. -My intuition! ☝️😏 -Thou waitest for me, young rascal! 🤣🤣 -(tamaki winning them over by accepting them instead of trying to understand them i love him.) -(casanova being a background host club patron now is so funnykasjhdakjd) -Stupid milord has a mother complex! 🤥 -(everyone immediately helping tamaki when they realise he's upset owwww) -TAMAKI AND HARUHI MAKING MOVES OOO -I'M DYING. FEVER THROAT RUBBY NOBE. (^0^)/ -uh-oh. he died. ⭐️ -Don't worry. I'm jsut a pervert... 😞 -Hee hee hee... A father is allowed to do that! 😚☺️😴

This volume was just okay- we get Hikaru and Kaoru's backstory (and maybe it's just me, but it feels flat- maybe it's just because I don't understand it, but it doesn't really feel like there's all that much character depth to them???)- then we get the whole princess fiasco (and I just don't care- the way Tamaki treated everyone else around him- even if just for the sake of the princess realizing what she's doing- I just can't stand it- I know where it's stemming from but seriously you can't treat people that way, especially with such a flimsy apology).
I really don't care for these "Love Egoist" stories- but this one has been the best one so far- which really isn't saying much. I actually liked the relationship in this one okay, it was a cute dynamic that was then ruined with the reveal that she's in school still. I don't know why they are trying to push these inappropriate relationships between teacher/student- adult/minor??? It's really gross.
Amó como cada vez la personalidad de Tamaki se va desarrollando y como en cada capitulo se ve lo buena persona que es... en este mango conocemos como Tamaki logró que los gemelos se unieran al Club de anfitriones <3
Oh wow, this is going to end up as a whole big mess. I'm hoping tamaki wins haruhi. MORI IS STILL MY FAVOURITE THOUGH. MORE MORI PLEASE.
If my future self is looking back and this and wondering why she read two OHSHC volumes in one day... it's because you got excited and ordered seven volumes from the library one night at 3am and now they're all due back in two days and you've only read one of them.
Tamaki casi llegando a las conclusiones correctas es lo mejor de este volumen. Lo segundo mejor es Tamaki enredándolo todo solo como él sabe hacerlo. 🌟
