桜蘭高校ホスト部 [Ōran Kōkō Host Club] #6

Ouran High School Host Club, Vol. 6

Rate this book
In this screwball romantic comedy, Haruhi, a poor girl at a rich kids' school, is forced to repay an $80,000 debt by working for the school's swankiest, all-male club—as a boy! There, she discovers just how wealthy the six members are and how different the rich are from everybody else...

The school festival opens at Ouran, and the Host Club members are busy entertaining the visiting parents. Teasing his son is a favorite pastime of Tamaki's doting father, the school chairman, but Tamaki's grandmother is cut from a very different cloth. She despises and shuns Tamaki, banning him from the main Suoh Mansion. It's now time for Kyoya to take action with the Host Club to help their favored leader out.

This one is my favorite Volume so far! <3

Here's the reason:

Tamaki:
Listen Haruhi.
I'm me, before I'm a Suoh.
And I'm proud of that fact.
*smiles*

This is why I love Tamaki. Despite being stupid, he has the biggest heart and the most beautiful soul of them all! :)

Another great novel and I absolutely loved that the focus of this volume was the schools festival. With each class year decorating a part of the school to welcome the guests, their families. Also letting the other class years see what they have been doing, for each class is decorated with a different theme. The families were very interesting, the twins I didn’t really expect their parents to be as they were. As for Tamaki, I wasn’t surprised because it helps show why he acts the way he does. And Kyoya, his family didn’t surprise me either. At the end of the family get together there was a competition between clubs, and the host club was against the football club. The storyline was really good and very engaging with well detailed art that helps keep you engaged into the story. Overall, another fun and high energy volume.

What's there to say about another volume of Ouran? It's cute, and pretty, and has a kind of insane bubbling energy, and the characters are utterly adorable. So far, it has escaped falling into the doldrums of the second half of the anime series. Also, in this chapter, the fake twincest is thankfully toned down almost to invisibility.

Reasons why I love this manga.
-Hikaru and Kaoru
-Hunny
-Mori
-Tamaki
-Haruhi
-Kyoya

Do I really need to say more? Oh yes, what about a whole volume of new episodes that (sadly/luckily) never appeared in the anime. Mix it all and we get a little piece of joy.

I love festival arcs! This was fun.
Also, Tamaki being Tamaki and saying he's proud of who he is despite his birth circumstances. And Tamaki's father is amazing in his own Suoh way.

I love this volume because it gives us more backstory on Tamaki and also a bit more on Kyoya and his personality! I still can't believe that Kyoya almost didn't make the cut... The Host Club wouldn't be the same without him, I love his scheming ways and this volume totally showed them off!

¿Me gustó? Si, me gusta más como se desarrolla el manga.

¿Lo recomiendo? Si, es pura risa asegurada con este tomo.

Volume 6 of the Ouran High School Host Club begins with a plot, cloaked in secrecy and mystery!

The Host Club are playing a game together - it's called "Stinking Rich". Tamaki ends up a poor man, and Haruhi destitute, although she is unaware of what that entails. It is a penalty game, and as Kyoya is the winner, they must be his slave for two weeks! Meanwhile, Ouran High School is preparing for its school festival. The twins, for their class, are setting up a private detective agency, and they will provide clues for their customers to follow, not to mention that they are doing the costumes themselves. For prizes, of course.

In some ways the Ouran school festival is no different than others, with the students putting on shows to amuse their family and friends. But there is a difference. Namely, in the amount of money everyone is willing to spend to do so. Vast amounts, even. Ridiculous amounts. The merchants love it, of course, and they are having a field day. Placement during the festival is everything - the more centrally one is placed, the more attention one receives. Therefore the Central Salon is the most desireable place to be, and the most sought after. This year's race for the Central Salon includes the Host Club. But there is a problem. The Host Club has been receiving threatening letters made of cut out letters warning them to back out of the Salon Race or else. What are they to do? This calls for all the members of the Host Club to put on their thinking clubs and solve this puzzle, or face the consequences!

The Football Club is also in contention for the Central Salon. Their President, Kuze, has an orange fetish. And, interestingly, the threatening notes smell of oranges! Coincidence, or not? It turns out that Kuze and Kyoya are childhood friends. There appears to be a personal grudge here. Things just might get ugly.

Kyoya's sister has come to visit, as we get a glimpse into the Ohtori household. Kyoya is surprised to find out that his sister is in communication with Tamaki - together they are making a map of places for commoner's gourmet food. Although he is happy to see his sister, their father seems to be of the opinion she should be in her own household, not unexpectedly visiting with them. He has some very strange ideas, and doesn't seem too warm toward Kyoyo either.

The race for the Central Salon has come down to two contenders now - the Football Club, and the Host Club. The year before, the matter was settled over a chess game. This year's challenge won't be quite so cerebral - instead they are to compete in a cross-campus Ultra Race! Sounds very physical indeed! Things are getting very intense. Kyoya requests that Haruhi memorize the blueprints to the school! As she traverses the campus in order to do so, she sees an interesting sight - the Football Club President talking to one of the Student Council members - a female one at that. What is going on? She's the one that gave the Host Club a chance to withdraw from the race.

It is the day of the big race, and suddenly there are new entrants. Each group is given a prescribed route, at various points they will have questions to answer before they can proceed. All those who pass go on, the others are eliminiated. The final participants are given a set of clues for a hidden location where a crown will be hidden - he who gets the crown, gets the Central Salon. And they're off!

After the race comes the School Festival, and the school is busy with family and friends of the students. Famous people are everywhere. The twins' beautiful mother takes time to give Haruhi fashion tips. Hunny has brought some Venetian cakes - only $100 each! Haruhi is surprised to learn that Hunny and Mori have younger brothers. Tamaki's father and grandmother are there, but not his mother. She asks Tamaki, he replies that she is somewhere in France, a rather vague response. Tamaki happily greets his grandmother - but the woman disdains to have anything to do with him, pronouncing him filthy! The Host Club rallies around their leader, and entice him to begin the carriage rides. Haruhi later asks about the story behind her behavior, and she learns the details of Tamaki's birth.

The twins are bored, and that is never a good thing. But the Host Club are wise to their mock fights, and no longer believe in them. But a food fight which arises from their boredom has unexpected consequences, when the vice principal is inadvertently involved, and takes them to task. But talking to him has an unexpected result - they find themselves on a quest for a mysterious soup!

Another fabulous volume of Host Club! In this volume, we learn more about the backgrounds of some of the members of the Host Club. For instance - Tamaki lives in his father's second family mansion, and is not allowed into the first one. We discover why not. And we learn that Kyoya is the third son, and therefore has to try harder in order to get anywhere. The cuteness factor is "out of this world". And the relationship between Tamaki and Haruhi just keeps on getting better! The artwork, as always, is wonderful. There is a great picture at the beginning of chapter 23 picturing Tamaki as Sherlock Holmes, complete with meerschaum, and Haruhi as his fairy assistant, in a maid's outfit! I love this series, and could read it forever!

Cute with some sad points for Tamaki.

I thought we'd learn more about Kyoya finally, but aside from learning some details about his family's dynamics, there's not a ton of new info about his feelings on things here. There's a pretty sweet Dad/Mom moment between him and Tamaki, though. I wished he wasn't just "the Mastermind", but so far, that's it for him.

We meet Tamaki's family and his grandmother is a real piece of work. His story is so sad.

There's a pretty cute story about them and the Vice Principal.

Overall, pretty fun volume.

In this sharp-witted romantic comedy about the clash of the classes (of all kinds), a poor girl at a rich kids' school ends up working at the school's toniest club-and gets mistaken for a boy!
In this high anticipated title, a kind of cross between HANA-KIMI and BOYS OVER FLOWERS, Haruhi is a scholarship student at an exclusive private school: Ouran High School, where it turns out the bespectacled, short-haired Haruhi is the only student from a lower-middle class family in attendance!

Then, to make matters worse, one day she breaks an $80,000 vase that belongs to one of the campus clubs-a mysterious outfit called the "Host Club," consisting of six superrich (and gorgeous) guys. Haruhi can't afford to pay back the cost of the vase, of course, so she's forced to work for the Host Club! And it's there that she discovers just how rich all the boys are and how different the rich are from you and me...And meanwhile, the eccentric but good-hearted rich boys are shocked to find out how life is on the other side...

Review :

Episode 22: A card game is played by the Host Club and the loser(s) are the slave(s) of the winner(s). Ouran is preparing for its students’ parents to come visit and a competition for who has control of the main room begins. The Host Clubs are receiving threatening hate mail.

Episode 23: The competition for the Central/Main room is about to begin. Haruhi is struggling to find the culprit of the notes while Kyoya seems to be aware of something. The competition begins!

Episode 24: The competition concludes in this episode and the threatening letters mystery is discovered. Tamaki's Dad is showing up more and more and he's a villain.

Episode 25: JK, Tamaki's Dad just likes messing with his son. The festival begins. Tamaki's paternal grandmother arrives at the school. No incorrect deductions here. She's the worst. Even Hunny hates her.

Episode 26: To celebrate the festival, the Host Club prepares a carriage for the day. Tamaki's grandmother isn't impressed. Haruhi learns more about Tamaki's past.

Episode 27: The twins are bored leading to an altercation in the cafeteria. The Host Club is brought to the vice principal’s office where a challenge is issued amongst the boys of the club (minus Kyoya).

I enjoyed this issue a lot but it is my least favorite so far.

Most of the episodes in this volume formed the cohesive arc of the school club competition for the best spot for the school festival. It was fun for there to be a competition and also there was some mystery as to who was threatening the Host Club should they compete.

After the competition, there’s the actual school festival. It was so cool to see some of the Host Club members’ families! Learning where they come from is a great way to learn more about their characters. I especially enjoyed Hikaru and Kaoru’s mom and the background information on Tamaki. His dad seems hilarious.

Then, the last episode was just a return to the regular antics of the club members. I really love this series and can’t wait to keep reading!

This manga has become one of the joys of my life. I look forward to reading an episode or two every night. I've been loving just taking my time so I can soak it all in. I'm so glad for that moment several weeks ago when I randomly bough the whole box set. It was worth every blessed penny.

It's time for the school festival! (Do they really do these huge school festivals in Japan? Every time I see it in an anime, I wonder. Obviously, not like they do it at Ouran High!)

The clubs are vying for the best spot - The Grand Salon! The club is determined to win, but they have also been getting threatening notes. Kyoya won a game which made Tamaki and Haruhi his slaves and he orders them to find the culprit.

Apparently the president of the football club has a major grudge against Kyoya. The team sets out to spy on the football club and figure out if they're behind the notes. A key clue is the smell of oranges on the paper. There is a competition for the Grand Salon. The Host Club wins, of course.

We get to know a little bit more of the club's backgrounds. First, there is the Chairman, Tamaki's dad. Those two are definitely alike. Tamaki's grandmother is cruel. She separated Tamaki from his mother and refuses to give him any love. Kyoya's dad is not much better. The twins definitely take after their mom.

I loved how cute Tamaki and Haruhi were in this one. Haruhi was getting lots of insight into the Host Club.

The club sets out on a mission to find the perfect soup for the Vice Principal. There was one of the most hilarious scenes in the series so far. Haruhi explains how she tries to create imitation fancy tuna and the club is appalled. It's so cute how they all look after her.

So happy to be enjoying this series right now!
