Mac’s life isn’t perfect, but he likes it the way it is: safe and predictable.
Mac works in a struggling pole dancing club at night, and a gym during the day. He’s tired and cash strapped, but content, until a confident twink walks into the club and turns his life upside down. It’s hard to resist when Russel asks him to be his fake boyfriend for one night, in return for double his normal take-home pay.
One date turns into more, as Mac helps Russel get an exclusive that will secure him the job he’s always wanted. But the rich playboy who holds Russel’s career in his hands isn’t going to give him the scoop so easily.
As Mac and Russel spend more time together, the lines between fake and real begin to get blurred, but can their relationship become strong enough to be unbreakable in the face of adversity?
Unbreakable is a fake boyfriend MM romance, with a buff pole dancer who swears like a trooper, a twink who likes to take charge, some spanking, light bondage, and a happy ever after. It’s a prequel story to Broken, but can be read as a standalone romance.
I'm an indie author from the UK, who writes contemporary and paranormal M/M romance. My books have flawed characters, happy endings, and lots of heart.
Russel meets Mac for the first time at a low, almost empty, bar named Horns where Mac works as a striptease pole dancer.
Russel has high standards. Super clean and organized, perfect makeup, and fabulous clothes. Mac is just... the opposite.
Russel has to be present at a celebrity party and interview the man. He needs a fake boyfriend. The first on his mind is Mac. Mac agrees and only because of the money Russel offers. Their arrangement did well and they even like each other a bit more. Only, the celebrity wants to set his claws in Mac and manipulate Russel and with that Russel his job, the claws are sharp.
As a side story, we meet Russel his best friends, Michael and Edward, they want to start their own business by taking over Horns and ask Mac to join them. Mac thinks he has nothing to offer. We even are a witness of the birth of Heaven and Hell.
“We can’t be the best versions of ourselves all the time.”
A story about two men who are exactly the opposite and also the opposite of what people expected they are, just by the looks. With each other, they find what they were looking for and longed for.
Russel is a small, feisty demanding feminine guy, Mac, on the other hand, is one big guy and quite mellow. For me the characters didn’t work all the time, Russel was pictured as the dominant one, but his whole attitude isn’t quite that. Mac fits the picture somewhat better, but not at every point. Maybe I’m just too critical. Further in the story, I got more connected. The concept was good and the story captivating. Only, for me, when I can’t connect with the characters everything is more difficult, I was happy at the end I felt somewhat better, even more, when Russel opened up. The writing style was good, the environments likable, the plot was good.
Okay, so this is a prequel and there is already one established couple so I’m not sure if I missed any other stories in the series so far, but if I did, it didn’t feel like it. So, Mac is a dancer at a club, though I honestly don’t remember what it’s called, but, he works with two close friends/chosen family, Edward and Michael. They’re the already established couple and remember them because they’re the ones who have plans for the Heaven and Hell club… the place now, is a seedy little place where customers aren’t what they once were and their owner/boss is greedy and lazy and just not a nice guy. It seems jerks who get away with being jerks is a thing in stories I’m reading lately… but anyway…. It’s just another night on the grind when Russel walks in in all his beautiful glory and Mac is intrigued but the pair of them are so different. Color him surprised when Russel propositions him but it’s not the type he’s used to.
Russel is the “layout guy” but what he really wants to do is become a journalist. When he gets an opportunity to write a piece for one of the most fashionable bachelors, he thinks his luck is about to change when his boss gives him a chance to cover it. Nevermind he’s only doing it because Russel is gay and so is Remy, the bachelor in question, but he doesn’t look the gift horse in the mouth and takes the job, with the stipulation that it’s a couple’s party, even though Remy is very single. After trying his few friends to pose as his boyfriend, someone suggests Mac and it’s not such a bad idea, right?
Playing a fake boyfriend never works out according to plan.. We already knew that these two were going to fall in love and why wouldn’t they? They’re adorable together and I loved how loyal they were to one another. When the fake part goes out the window, I adored them together. Russel is so confident and sassy that I’m surprised he ever lets anyone get anything on over him and Mac is strong yet vuernerable and I love love love that stereotypes are thrown out the window in this one. Just because Mac is the muscled up, broody guy, doesn’t make him a top… he’s actually almost strictly bottom and not only that, he likes to be dominated…. Or maybe not dominated, as it isn’t that dark… but maybe controlled a bit, though only by Russel. He trusted him from the get go and I liked that…. And just because Russel is a makeup wearing ball of sass, doesn’t mean he’ll take crap from anyone… he surely doesn’t and he knows just what Mac needs to make him crazy for him. It was hot. I liked that neither of them were what I was expecting.
What I hate more than anything, though, and you’ll know it, if you’ve read any of my reviews….ever.. is that I’m way too petty and callous to not want retribution against someone who has wronged me. It’s the type of person I am. I hate when people get taken advantage of, I hate manipulators and I despise when people get away with being jerks. Entitled A-holes and this sstory is full of them.
Remy, who you’ll realize pretty early on is the most manipulative and the story mainly focuses on him and what he tries to do to the couple, and honestly, I cannot believe people act like him, he’s the epitome of SPOILED, entitled and bratty… it’s almost laughable how bratty and immature, but I hated him immediately and really really hated him by the end, though I’m glad he somewhat got put in his place. What I hated, is that both of their bosses, the greedy pos and then Russel’s boss, who was so immorally disgusting, the way spoke to Russel and the situations he put him in were absolutely unethical and he should’ve lost his job at the very least. I hated that he screwed over Russel and just gets to go about his way being an awful fake human being. I wished for karmic justice on him too….
BUT, I’ll digress, because it could just be my mood and the fact that I’ve read just jerky characters lately, but the overall love story between Mac and Russel, I loved…which is the point, here LOL I loved their friendships that they had, that hopefully you’ll see more of in the series… I loved their loyalty to one another and the trust they had in each other. I loved seeing them fall in love with other, when their start was less than ideal and a little cliché, and I loved how things ended for the both of them and they got such a sweet happy ending. I’m not sure I’ll read anymore from the series, but it is very well written and worth the read.
Just like every book I've read by Colette Davison, 𝗨𝗻𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 is an incredible blend of laughter, tears, joy, angst, sadness, happiness and so much love.
It was wonderful to watch the main characters, Mac and Russel, slowly realize just how perfect they are together. They start off as fake boyfriends and absolutely convinced that they would be the worst fit for an actual relationship. But then, amazingly, the more time they spend together, the more they come to see how no one else could understand their real selves better than the other. How their needs can only be fulfilled by each other.
𝗨𝗻𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 is the story of an unlikely couple, of two men that have the courage to let their masks slip off and show their weaknesses, and do something to better themselves. Mismatched, quirky and troubled, yet the perfect match for each other...when they eventually open their hearts and trust that they can be loved for who their really are.
I loved seeing the founding of the Heaven and Hell Club. Even though I haven’t gotten to read Broken, yet, I look forward to catching peeks of people from this prequel. This story breaks stereotypes of the typically expected relationship roles between a big strong man and a smaller lithe one. I love that. Their relationship is beautiful and watching it grow from fake to something neither of them thought possible was a true joy. And it was seriously hot! If you’ve read Broken you’ll love learning all about the founding of the club and getting glimpses of the club owners. If, like me, you haven’t yet read it, this can be read as a standalone or a perfect introduction to Broken.
WOW!!! What a terrific story. Mac and Russel are a beautiful couple brought together by circumstances that took them further than expected. Neither were looking or expected more. But the chemistry between them became off the charts. This is HOT, sweet and fun. I loved these characters. I also loved getting to see Michael and Edward together. The love and friendship between them all. This is just an all around, AMAZING book. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!
Mac is a pole dancer in a shabby nightclub. One day, Russel, an attractive man with effeminate features and strong personality, comes to the club. Their first meeting could be the last, if not for the fact that Russel can't forget Mac to the point that when his boss sends him as a reporter to an exclusive, couples only party, the man decides to ask the dancer to pretend to be his boyfriend. Although Mac likes neither changes nor risk, he agrees to help the stranger. However, things get complicated quickly when the favor gets out of hand.
"Unbreakable" is the volume "zero" of "Heaven and Hell Club", and thus a prequel to the moving and wonderful novel "Broken" by Colette Davison. I know it's not particularly revealing on my part, but this fact is one of the advantages of this story. Looking at "Unbreakable" from the more practical side, we can say that to some extent this book complements "Broken", as it gives us the opportunity to look at the events preceding those described in the first volume of "Heaven and Hell Club". And we should remember that we've already known about some of them as we read this first novel, but until now we haven't known all the details concerning them. However, what I think is the most important in this case is that thanks to "Unbreakable" we get to know better some of the characters we met, in one way or another, in "Broken". Till now, we've just liked them, but now we have the opportunity to truly fall in love with them. As for Mac and Russel's case, we also learn the story of their relationship and its unusual beginning. The real advantage of "Unbreakable" as a prequel is therefore that it can be read as a standalone story, and at the same time is part of something a little larger.
Another great advantage of this book are the characters, and in this case I would like to focus on the main ones. Mac and Russel are really wonderful. They differ from each other like fire and water, but at the same time there are some things they have in common. I really like the fact that building these two, the author outlined not only who they are, their virtues and flaws, self-confidence and at the same time uncertainty, but also gave us an insight into their difficult, sad past and their psyche. Thanks to all this, Mac and Russel are the characters full of depth that really conquer our hearts and enchant us. However, it is worth mentioning that the great advantage of the main characters' creation is not only the topic of who they are as individuals, but also their amazing, fantastic dynamics. To say that these two fit perfectly together is definitely not enough. Russel and Mac are like two seemingly mismatched pieces of clothing, which can create something unique and stylish, if you choose the right cut, style and accessories.
In the previous paragraph I've mentioned our characters' psyche, and I would like to go back to this topic. In "Unbreakable," I really liked that although to a certain degree Mac and Russel are self-confident, there's a lot of insecurity in them. We see it clearly in Russel's case, as he "hides" himself under his make-up. Gods, the way Colette Davison presented his views about himself really moves us and makes an impression. For me it's even more important as I could definitely see myself in him. However, it is worth noting that the author added the romance and beauty, that probably every person dreams about, to Russel's insecurities. I love it! And to be honest, I love the fact that writing "Unbreakable" Colette Davison decided to use the motif of being perfect in the loved one's eyes and developed it in such a wonderful way. For both Russel and Mac are struggling with some problems that they are hiding from the world, but having each other they are finally able to breathe freely, stand on their own two feet and in a way start living again.
Another great advantage of this novel is undoubtedly the fact that the plot is about more than romance, enriched by the insight into the characters' psyche, and the story of the Heaven and Hell Club. The author makes sure that in "Unbreakable" we can also find a real problem that our boys have to deal with, and thus the villain they must face. However, I think that the most important is that Colette Davison focuses also on the topic of stereotypes, and thus fighting them. I really love it that Mac and Russel are well aware of the stereotypes they are subject to and that people "put them in a box" because of their appearance, which annoys them very much. To be fully fulfilled they need what is at odds with the assumptions generally accepted by people. Thus, in "Unbreakable" we get a small, effeminate man who likes to dominate in bed, and a well-built, strong, tall hunk who likes to be submissive in every respect. So tell me, is it even possible not to love this book?
To sum up, "Unbreakable" is a truly wonderful, romantic, bitter sweet and unique novel. The readers can find here everything they want, including elements of D/s and BDSM. And the characters? They are amazing, interesting and definitely lovable. In short, I can recommend you this brilliant novel with a clear conscience, as it is perfect.

„Unbreakable” jest „zerowym” tomem „Heaven and Hell Club”, a więc prequelem poruszającej i cudownej powieści „Broken” autorstwa Colette Davison.
Kocham to!
Podsumowując, „Unbreakable” to powieść prawdziwie cudowna, romantyczna, miejscami słodko-gorzka. A bohaterowie? Są wspaniali, interesujący i zdecydowanie łatwi do pokochania.
ENG- So well well well.. well I love Colette Davison's novels. I loved Broken a lot and when I knew she was going to write a prequel to this novel about secondary characters that I had loved so much I was so happy!! I devoured this novel in a few hours and I really loved it. I strongly advise you to read Broken before, even if Unbreakable happens 8 years before Broken, to better appreciate your reading and savor all the nuances.
So yes, this novel has a sweet bittersweet side because we meet Edward, but to know that Michael will have his happy ending with Jag in the future has helped me a lot to enjoy this aspect of the story.
I really enjoyed discovering Russel and Mac's meeting. I really loved theses characters in Broken. Their story is super pretty and I loved the way they will get closer. This is a fake boyfriend trope and for once it's a real one and I greatly appreciated this .
Once again Colette Davison is at the height of what she promises us. Each of her novels are better than the previous one and keeps all her promises.
An author who is always excellent, whose style is becoming more and more defined and who delivers us original and refreshing novels.
The themes are always strong and very well treated and the little British touch is really a plus for me.
In summary, a one click author who never disappoints me and that I strongly advise you to read.
This book has everything I enjoy; fake boyfriends, light BDSM, opposites attract, fast friendship and overcoming difficult situations together. Collette Davison is a new to me author but definitely someone I will continue to follow. I liked how her characters are gentle and honest with each other.
Russel and Mac find themselves in a situation where they have to be fake boyfriends; Mac to get extra cash and Russell to get an interview with a celebrity so that he can finally move his career forward. Fake boyfriends leads to real boyfriends but with a few hiccups and things trying to keep them apart along the way.
I adored that there was no questioning that big beefy Mac wanted to be dominated by the soft femme Russell. There was trust and respect there that was present throughout the entire story. Russell and Mac fell for each other quickly and without notice. They didn't question it and embraced it. I found myself smiling a lot while reading Russell and Mac’s story. They made my heart so happy.
My favorite thing about this book was the slow friendship that emerged. Russell and Mac realized quickly that they are much stronger as a team. There is also an adorable HEA for these two and they absolutely deserved it. On to the next book in the series!
Colette Davison's Unbreakable is an amazing slow-burn, fake boyfriend romance. I love the author's writing and the story's tone drew me in from the start.
What starts as a hookup becomes more as Russell hires Mac to be his fake boyfriend for a work event.
Russell and his personality is amazing. A femme man who's into fashion, he's the stereotypical twink. Mac meanwhile is a tall and sexy pole dancer who's struggling for money. I love these two opposites who are fun and sweet together. And even better, they work well in bed, as their wants and desires align perfectly, which for them is extremely important. I highly enjoyed their smoking chemistry and steamy scenes.
What starts as a fake relationship based on attraction, leads to more as the two realize how well they complement one another. Their story includes some pompous and manipulative men, career issues, and some tough decisions. I enjoyed it all.
Written in dual pov, the reader easily gets into the mind of both men, and feels all the emotions along with them.
Unbreakable is a beautiful tale of two men who find one another, thus finding something worth standing up for. This Colette Davison read is a fantastic blend of laughs and cries that will leave you reading late into the night.
Quite an interesting plot. The Two MC are completely opposite: Russel is femme like, works in the fashion industry and is portrayed as the quintessential flaming colorful twink. Mac is the moneyless tall and broad pole dancer who used to be flabby and bulky and knows a lot of swear words. “Definitively a fan of the F-bomb”.
Their relationship starts of as fake and purely based on Russel’s physical attraction to Mac and they do have some reciprocal misconceptions just like the many assumptions by society about who between the two shall be in charge and who should submit.
But then, in very few days, also thanks to the antiques of the villain of this story, they discover that they have a lot in common, like their background, they are both quite persistent when they want the other to speak, open up. They make a great team, and though the whole story unfolds in less than a week, their connection is real and strong.
Well written from both POV, very enjoyable read, I will certainly read the next book.
From that review: It had been a while since I had read a Colette Davison story and after reading this, I really have to wonder why it took me so long. This author (and this series) is definitely back on my radar and on my TBR pile after reading the endearing, very hot, and quite wonderful prequel Unbreakable (Heaven and Hell Club) by Colette Davison.
Unbreakable is the origin story that sets up the couples and foundation for the series Heaven and Hell, a strip club. Here we leap into the club at its very seedy beginnings and original name, with three of its exotic dancers. While how the club gets established is a secondary story thread (although still very important), the main plot here is the meeting, romance, and relationship between exotic dancer Mac and fashion layout designer/reporter Russell. The characterizations here is where the book just shines.
Mac and Russel are a match made in heaven. I loved both of them from the very beginning and couldn´t wait for them to find their HEA. The story is a prequel to "broken". It was very beautiful to see glimpses of Michael´s partner - (although having read "broken" we know their end is not so happy) and it was interessting to see "Heaven and Hell" when it was still "Horns". Although being a prequel the author mangaged perfectly to give more insight into to the surroundings and the people of "H&H" without repeating herself. Russel´s and Mac´s love story starts a little unusual but turns out very sweet and hot and beautiful! You can feel their pull towards each other from the very beginning and I loved how both of them fighted (in their own way) to be together! A book I will definitly revisit!
❤ A great start to the book as Mac's on stage dancing, he wasnt happy with his boss at the club. Oh I loved Mac at the party, he didnt have a clue about how to blend with the posh folks. Lots of laugh-out-cloud moments as the two get to know each other. I loved the reversed roles of there perceived body builds. They both have horrible family bagage but have strived to make themselves better. 🔥🔥Hot sexy Dom & Submission scenes included as well as a blackmailing S.O.B I didnt like. The ending is fantastic one yah i had to laugh at a certian bad character getting his just deserts. A great book to love.
Mac 27 loved being a pole dancer at Horn club with a freind Micheal. although Micheal had Edward to go home to, Mac was single. Russel 26 yrs worked at a fashion magazine and happened to visit the Horn. He gets a dream assignment but he needs a date.
I was just so excited about reading Mac and Russel story, and it was just so good, I really enjoyed it. When Russel first met Mac he was dancing at Horns and Russel was just smitten, so much so he couldn't help thinking about him. So when an opportunity for advancement at work showed up after much thought, Russel asked Mac if he would help him out by pretending to be his boyfriend and this started a long slow walk into a beautiful loving relationship neither men were expecting, but one they both deserved. This book was so well written that it sucked you in, wrapping you up into this beautiful story and kept you so involved you just had to read the whole book!
This is an excellent addition to the Heaven and Hell Club series and I love everything about it. I was intrigued by Mac in Broken (book 1 in the series) and I was so happy to read his story as well as get a lot more background information about Michael and the club. Mac and Russell are perfect for each other and I love how their relationship develops. They are exactly what the other needs and they are sweet together as well as having smoking hot chemistry. They do face a few obstacles but because they have great communication between them there is very little angst in this story. The ending is perfect and I can't wait to read the next book in this fun and well written series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
Sparks fly when fashion journalist Russel gets a private dance from stripper Mac. Russel hiring Mac to play his boyfriend for an evening quickly leads to a fabulously complicated connection between a fashionista and a gym rat.
Parts of this story are very entertaining. The characters are larger than life and Russel’s flamboyant personality is good fun. This is a sexy BDSM-lite read and it’s a very steamy read. Honestly? The sex is definitely the best part of the book.
It’s the actual story that I struggled with. The writing is choppy and even Mac and Russel feel lightly sketched at times. Supporting characters - both the good guys and the bad guys - feel underdeveloped and a little too cliched to believe in. The main conflict in the book feels exaggerated - but it also resolves a little too easily. Overall, I’m not a fan of the writing style and I didn’t love the story - but the sex is pretty great.
Unbreakable by Colette Davison is part of the Heaven and Hell Club series and features a fake relationship, MM romance. It’s a prequel story to the story Broken, but can be read as a standalone story.
This story is a slow burning one... with a bit of sadness, a but of sexiness, and lots of fun. Enjoyable story that acts well as a prequel to the series. Fantastic and interesting characters and well written.
Fun read with passion, hopes, love and so much more. I thought the pacing was great, with wonderful characters and a engaging story-line kept me reading and enjoying! I so enjoyed the MC's and the supporting characters! Mac and Russel find love and build a future that is filled with love and passion.
I loved seeing a glimpse of Michael and Edward in the early days before they become the owners of the club! I loved getting to see how the club went from being called Horns to becoming a much improved Heaven and Hell club. The ideas behind it and the passion that created a future.
This is a wonderful prequel to the Heaven and Hell Club series.
I was gifted this book from Gay Book Promotions and i freely give my honest opinion and review.
I received a free copy to read and review for Wicked Reads
Russel’s flamboyant personality made me enjoy this book. I love opposites attract stories. I haven't read any of the other stories in the series, this is the prequel so I didn't feel like I needed to read the other stories to understand this one. There were a few times that I didn't like the writing style, it seemed like a few times someone else came in and started adding to the story and then the author would come back and add more. I liked Mac and Russel, the sex was good. The main drama/conflict in the story seemed to be solved a little to fast/easy but overall it was a good start to a series.
I adored Mac and Russel and it was a joy to journey along with them as they found the strength in each other to finally stand up for themselves. I absolutely loved seeing them take their relationship from fake to fabulous and I really enjoyed seeing how Heaven and Hell got its start.
this book is about Mac meeting his love and what they go through and this book talks about Michael and Edward before buy and changing the name of Horns to Heaven and Hell club. I love this book and I cant wait to see what is next
Unbreakable, a story of Mac and Russel, is a great story! It works perfect as a prequel to Broken, with great characters and an interesting story. I enjoyed it so much!
This book is a prequel to Broken. In Unbreakable Michael and Edward are planning on buying Horns and turning it into the club that's in Broken. Mac and Russel are just the cutest in this book. I love them so much together. Mac, a big guy, likes to be submissive and Russel, a smaller guy, likes to be dominant. And the way they give and take power is Hot! The mental picture of Mac with that collar around his neck...... What started out as a fake relationship turned into so much more. I couldn't put this book down and I want more from the Heaven and Hell club. I highly recommend this book, and Unbreakable can be read on it's own but I do recommend reading Broken as well as both are fabulous!
This was a fun story where fake boyfriends become real boyfriends, and I love how they were able to get Remy in trouble with his dad since I'm not sure his type of harassment was the sort that the police would do anything about. I think dealing with Remy sexually harassing Mac and trying to break him and Russel up actually made Mac and Russel get serious more quickly. My biggest complaint about this story is that when they switch roles during the last chapter, Mac doesn't use any lube when he fucks Russel. Since Russel isn't used to being on the receiving end, only using precum instead of lube would be painful and not pleasurable.
I liked both the MCS in this story. Russel and Mac are opposites in every way, and their venture as fake boyfriends led to some light hearted and funny moments. They start of as fake boyfriends, but proved perfect together for the long haul. I loved it when they were together.
The story showed real promise, unfortunately, I did find the writing style a little choppy and felt that many of the characters were underdeveloped. This included the MCS, I wanted to know more about them. I know that this is a prequel, so I will read the next book, to see of any of the above becomes clearer.
I won a copy of this book via a Facebook party- thank you for that! Being new to this author I had no expectations. It’s set in England and has an English quality to the writing but no overly so, I think it’s mainly with the money you notice. I really enjoyed it - it actually kept my attention and I finished in one evening, staying up late to finish the last bit. Loved the two MCs, thought they both had good dynamics and I’d love to go shopping with Russel. Can be read as a stand-alone but this is a prequel to a series so I’m off to investigate that.
