FAMILY TOOK CARE OF EACH OTHER

The Lawkeeper Romance stories are each written to be stand-alone stories, and some will interact or have people from previous stories. It is a multi-author venture like a mini-series that can be read in any order. “The Lawkeepers is a world like no other, a world where lawkeepers and heroes are honored with unforgettable stories, characters, and love.” The stories are clean, wholesome tales with honorable men and the strong women who love them.

If you read Ms. Ginny Sterling’s story, A Bride for Daniel (The Proxy Brides Book 30) that released in November, the main characters, Alden Knox and Madeline, were minor players that will have their story now in Lawfully Pledged. There will be minor mention of Daniel and his proxy bride, Emma, in this tale which begins September 21, 1776, in Manhattan, where the British have control and Madeline will become a prisoner.

Alden Knox is a man of many talents; as a spy for General George Washington, he must be able to infiltrate areas, gain access to valuable documents and slip away as quietly. What a shock to arrive in Manhattan and see a young woman tied up laying in the mud—but he must maintain cover and under darkness, he will rescue her and get them away. Madeline Anjou assumes he is just another British soldier but welcomes his rescue during the cold night. To keep cover, he proposes a handfasting, but she laughs at his offer.

“What is wrong with handfasting yourself to me? I would provide for you and protect you. Do you have another beau waiting for you?”

The story will have several historical events, along with having Alden and Madeline in the middle of a battle between the British and Washington’s troops. Alden feels responsible for her and he and the others are impressed with her tenacity and loyalty to the Colonies. But it isn’t safe for them, and they must leave.

“I will protect you with everything I am. Don’t discount or discredit any of today’s events. War is hard. Death is terrible, but today—today, you were glorious in what you did.”

The story is a love story of two people who both love the Colonies, despise the British, and are willing to fight and serve their country. Madeline will learn quickly that Alden is a trustworthy man, a man worth her love and her heart and consent to the marriage.

“I would never harm you,” Alden whispered. “Your heart is the greatest treasure I could ever hope for. You are beyond precious to me, little one. Let me should you how much I feel for you.”

I love how Ms. Sterling took creative liberties to work both Alden and Madeline into this story, with the historical events, battle scenes, and family obligations. Alden will not only care for her, he wants to help her locate her missing parents and grandmother, and he also has his duties to check on his sister-in-law.

“I snuck her out of a camp and then snuck right into her heart. I’ll take that as the ultimate compliment.”

I read A Bride For Daniel (Proxy Brides #30) before realizing it was the second book. Lawfully Pledged is the original story.
Alden is a spy for the Continental Army. His Brother is missing. While on assignment, he sees a woman being held captive and fears for her. He helps her escape.
Madeline's family is missing and she doesn't know if her home was destroyed in the fire. When she stands up to the British soldiers, they hate her because she's French and tie her up in the cold. Until their commanding officer comes and helps her escape and tells her he's a spy.
Will they avoid being caught by the British? Can Alden get the maps safely to General Washington? Will Madeline be a distraction? Will this time together cause them to have feelings for each other?
This is a clean, sweet romance. It was pretty good, but I enjoyed Daniel's book better. It was interesting to have it set during the Revolutionary War though.

I would read this book on the cover alone! However, I loved it! Anything that is written about the American Revolution, I'm in! This is a story that has characters alongside historical people which is one of my favorite genres! Alden Knox is a spy -- a double agent, actually - and rescues Madeline Anjou after the burning of Manhattan by the British. They are terrific together. Their chemistry is fantastic. I read the book in one sitting and wished it would have gone on and on! Madeline is a very strong, French woman but is tender as can be with Alden and Alden is one tough spy and yet so tender with Madeline. A great story and one I wont forget!

Sweet Historical Romance

I read A Bride for Daniel first, so as I stated in that review, I loved reading a Revolutionary War romance! Being that these two heros are brothers, their stories intertwined a bit, and I loved that too! My goodness, Madeline is amazing! She characterized various woman of our past, who have bravely served in times of war in whatever capacity was needed. It was truly breathtaking to read about this one fictional woman, knowing of several real life women who did what she did and more! It just makes me honored to have served my country, in my day, in the capacity I was able to. I'm humbled! I hope you enjoy this whirlwind romance as much as I did!

When Madeline meets Alden she’s in a bad place. When she got saved by him she determined to help him with his case. But will the connection they have built bring them a lovely HEA?
Really entertaining story that can be read as a stand-alone but even better in connection with A Bride for Daniel (Alden and Daniel are brothers)

Lawfully Pledged: A Spy Lawkeeper Romance

Thoroughly enjoyed Alden and Madalines'story. I had just finished Emma and Daniels' and found this one. Even though they are stand alone books reading this one first gives a better perspective of the second one. A Bride for Daniel ( Proxy Brides Christmas)
