Ice Planet Barbarians #15

Barbarian's Tease

Rate this book
It should have been a one-night stand.

I never intended to seduce Taushen, but things happened. I don't dwell on the past and while it was great, I'm not looking for a relationship. Of course, try telling that to Taushen. The big blue alien's in love after one night, and it's making things darn awkward. We've got bigger problems than whether or not I'm his woman, like the ‘cargo’ of the space ship that landed here.

But Taushen's not giving up. He thinks I'm his mate.

And he'll do anything to keep me.

4 Taushen and Brooke Stars

May have spoilers

Barbarian's tease was better than I thought, but still not my favorite. As I said in a different review I don't care for Brooke. She came off overly fake. She used her looks and flirted to get the males to do what she wanted. Then the way she treated Taushen after they were kidnapped was crappy too. Don't get me wrong she had the right to be upset too, but Taushen had no idea what drugs were and didn't understand. Taushen didn't act much better either. After he found out that everything that happened was because Brooke was drugged he acted like a baby throwing a tantrum. Being an ass, calling her bubrooke to get under her skin. I wanted to slap them both and make them talk like adults.

Taushen and Brooke are one of my least liked couples. They don't really stand out to me when I think of the series. I ended up liking them a bit more and understanding where they were coming from thanks to this book. I liked that Brooke took time and they both decided to become friends. It made their connection deeper, and gave them time to heal for the trauma of being captured. Their little vaca away from everyone also made them the books sole focus instead of all the new people from the ships. My heart broke for Vektal. He has had so much stress over the last few years. Then he was away from his pregnant mate and kits. Towards the end of the book Ruby let us readers meet some of the new tribes members. I don't think I will like Hannah. Angie has me interested. I love that 20 new members mean more books because I never get enough of these books. Anyone that loves paranormal romance should try this series because it's amazing.

Taushen and Brooke

Blue aliens and mates are held on the enemy spaceship and here we get Taushen and Brooke’s point of view. Brooke tries to be friendly with their abductors and keep the couples together, while she will need also to use Taushen in a way that makes her feel guilty.
Taushen was a virgin and he was seduced by Brooke who was dragged.
That is the main reason she tries to stay away from him afterwards, when they are saved. Taushen has high hopes for Brooke but he cannot really express what he feels.

There will be a time in the friend-zone for these two, a bit of old fashioned kidnapping because of course Taushen is a hot-blooded barbarian who wants Brooke to be his pleasure mate permanently.

Brooke and Taushen are super cute together – although their resonance does not happen immediately. I thought their story was very funny and sweet!

“Humans have a saying, you know. Home is where the heart is. I thought it was just silly nonsense until I met you. I love everything about you, Taushen, and I’m glad I’m here with you. Icehome really does feel like a home now. My home, because my heart is here.”
I feel him nod against me, his face buried against my neck. “Even though I was born here, I feel I did not have a place until you kissed me.”

What will move the story forward are the pods with the human females and the non-human males.
“Icehome” is about to start its new stories.
I am super excited for the new series which I have already started.

The beautician and the brute!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏
Character development: 😠😘🤓😉

The heroine: Brooke - she is small with pink hair and she was a hairdresser on Earth before she was abducted by alien slavers. The slavers crash landed on the Ice planet and she has been living in the Croatoan settlement with humans who were on the ice planet before her ship arrived and the Sa’Khui people.

The Hero: Taushen - He was such a fun character in previous books, always jovial and light hearted. Though as he has grown into adulthood and all the other members of the Sa’Khui tribe have found mates and resonated with the human females, and he is now the sole member of the tribe without a mate, he has gotten sad and sullen.

The Story: Taushen wonders if he will ever resonate. There are two human females left and he doesn’t like the way Brooke has acted in the past. She flirts with all the men and uses her femininity in order to get things she wants or to get males to do things for her. Though when an alien ship lands on the planet and they are captured, things change very quickly.

Like so many of the other books, Taushen ends up kidnapping Brooke to be alone with her and hopefully to resonate with her. I both like and dislike this as a plot device, since so many of the other Sa’Khui have done the same, it is getting a bit old, but still when they do this, they all go on a different adventure, so it is good in that way. Though there is also always a period where the female is so angry at being taken or misled, which is repetitive.

Though I did like the story, I just really like this series overall and feel like I know this group of people. I have been listening to both this and the Icehome spinoff series haphazardly since I have been putting them on hold on the Libby app and they don’t become available in order. I like the fact that though there are some things that happen to the group may be out of order, it doesn’t detract from any of the books as a whole. I know I will be sad when I get through all of both series. Unlike some other long running series where I have gotten bored and never got through the whole thing.

The audio was done in dual narration and the book was told in both Taushen and Brooke’s points of view. Narration was done by Mason Lloyd and Hollie Jackson who do a great job. There are times when Hollie Jackson’s voice has gotten on my nerves, but for the most part I am used to these narrators and enjoy the audiobooks.

I don't know how to rate this book because I was mostly incredibly annoyed when I was reading this and I skimmed a lot of parts because the heroine got on my nerves.

I should have expected it from the "tease" part in the title but god I couldn't stand the heroine's flair of dramatics. She's so annoying. Throughout my skimming, I noticed some scenes where she intentionally seduced Taushen (despite how wrong it went the first time) and was all fake outrage when he didn't respond the way she wanted him to. Like... okay?

It's unfortunate because I'm very fond of this series. I love Ruby Dixon's work. The last book with the Asian heroine was awesome (I'm all about POC heroines)and she was actually likeable. And then in this one we have a bratty white girl with the pink hair and the big tits who really need to shut the fuck up.

Overall, I hated this book. I can't wait for the next book in Dixon's dragon series though!! Please don't disappoint me. 🙏

I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT TO RATE/REVIEW THIS BOOK! Ruby Dixon, I am sincerely sorry. My book slump has come between us, but I will not let it happen again. *hangs head in shame*

With that being said, I am going to have to apologize once more: I'm sorry, but this book was just okay. (So, maybe my book slump did come between Ruby and me again. Oops.) I'm not going to single out a certain character with pink hair that probably had a lot to do with it. *clears throat.*

This installment was all about Buh-brukh and Taushen. I refuse to call her 'Brooke,' although it is her name, because I like to think that I am somehow annoying this imaginary character.

Buh-brukh was a cosmetologist back on planet Earth, but now she is just the different human with pink hair. She feels useless. She has zero survival skills, so she will just continue to be the alien beautician. Another thing she is failing at? Resonance. And to add to the ever-growing list, she is failing at whatever type of relationship she has with Taushen. I really wanted to shout at her that she needed explain things to him better. He's a flipping alien, woman! He isn't used to human customs! He was legit trying, but she had to get all butthurt!

Now, Taushen's character was lovely... a little on the slow side, but lovely. He is the ultimate alpha-hero. Even with his broken heart, he always looked out for Buh-brukh. Honestly, I felt bad that he was mated to her. She had him so confused and hurt that he walked on eggshells around her. And it made me so mad! However, once everything was discussed, they did compliment each other. I accepted it and moved on. Buh-brukh makes him happy, therefore I am happy. *sighs*

I am sad but happy that the ICB series has come to an end. When I should have been invested in Buh-brukh and Taushen's relationship, all I could think about was the new members. I am super excited to IceHome, and to see what Ruby has come up with in her wonderfully imaginative brain of hers.

I am really torn on what to rate this one.... I love the IPB series.... I love the hero! Not caring so much for the heroine... she was very annoying... I did appreciate her honesty about herself. She was trying to find a place to fit in and that can be very hard when you think you have nothing to contribute. She was no virgin.... just a modern girl...? Really? Do modern girls really sleep around that much? I guess I am just too old to know the answer to that question. So she has experience and he doesn't... so to her it's just a wham, bam, thank you alien.... I really did not like that at all.

I know, I know... I am so old fashion... yeah I am...

I loved that they decided to help the 'sleeping' people. The Barbarians are really good 'people'. They do the right thing even if it could mean big changes to their clan and danger too. I am looking forward to more from IPB and the new series too...

So I didn't like the heroine very much...again... but I loved the hero and the story and that is why I gave it 4.o.

Probably my least favorite. It's a shame too because I really like Taushen.

Update: Upon second reading, I figured it out. I just don't like Brooke. Taushen deserved better.

Not my favorite couple but I do very much still enjoy the series. It was interesting with the add of more people at the end and I'm intrigued to see where the series are going. Know there is at least one spin off series after this one

Plot wise, not a lot going on except at the very beginning and end. Romance wise, I loved Brooke and Taushen. I especially loved that despite their rocky start, they became genuine friends before resonating.

IPB Brooke and Taushen.

❄️ Bookish Thoughts
I love Brooke as an FMC! Her and Taushen aren’t one of my fave couples though.
I think they are ok but both of them are immature in different ways.
That said, I still liked this booked! Especially the ending! The fun is about to begin.

This was probably the hottest book, next to Barbarian’s Taming, with Maddie and Hassen.

I loved Brooke a lot, she was a breath of fresh air after so many shy and inexperienced FMC. And Taushen was as naughty as she needed 😌

I am already onto the Icehome series but this was a nice re-read. I forgot some details which were nice to read but even 2nd time around I was more interested in newcomers rather than Taushen and Brooke's story. Good couple but not the best one. Taushen was one of my favorites overall but towards the end, his attitude really put me off of him. He got really bitter and irritating so I was glad that he got his happy ending as well.

So that's all! IPB series ends folks....RTC

Barbarian’s Tease is book fifteen in the Ice Planet Barbarians series by Ruby Dixon.

I like this series and am invested in the characters. The world is vast and continues to grow. In this installment we see where the spin-off series, Icehome, takes place.

Ruby Dixon has a knack of twisting and turning her stories so they never get repetitive.

I loved our hero Taushen. He was such a fun character in previous books, always jovial and light hearted, but as more and more Sa’Khui hook up with mates he has gotten sad and sullen. Brooke is not my favorite. Because she uses her looks to get males to do what she wants. She’s a flirt and very open about it.

I was upset with Brooke on how she treated Taushen after the kidnapping. He doesn't know what drugs are, so what happened wasn’t his fault. Then he threw a tantrum. Not my favorite moment with Taushen. Now we know how and why Brooke and Taushen got together.

It was interesting in the addition of more people at the end and I'm intrigued to see where the series goes from here.

Barbarian’s Tease was another enjoyable read. I look forward to continuing on.

Of course this book was great, with each book I am impressed with Ruby Dixon's ability to keep this series fresh and new and add new twists. I couldn't wait for this book and it does not disappoint. I will say that with each new book recently, I have wanted more of the stories about whats going on because theres so much going on. I love the stories with each hero and heroine but with all that is new I want more and more. Though I know she is making us wait so that we can have new books.

I am so excited with what will be coming next in this series and..... I don't normally read authors notes at the end of books but I never miss these because we get so much information on whats to come. Ruby Dixon Has yet again set us up for some amazing stories to come. I will say I was scared for s second that I loved Taushen and Brooke. I will admit when I found out what happened on the ship when everyone was being held captive I was a little irritated with Brooke but she makes up for it in my mind. Taushen is of course an amazing hero and I am so happy this series continues.

CW: I would consider this sexual assault (the MCs are not on the same page about this and do not treat it as such).

I hated almost everything about this couple and their romance. The FMC's mind games with the MMC were insufferable. The only redeeming quality of this book is the ongoing problems and plot with the greater tribe as a whole, which is 100% unrelated to the MCs.

It's always nice to have a BBB book as a break between other ones!
Even after 16 books, I just love the naïveté of those big hunks! Their gentlness and sweetness somehow makes my days better!
I was sad when Ruby declared that the series is finished, but in the afterword, she reassured me that it would just be the name that changes because of the new arrivals and because all the original characters have found their mates. I hope the future books will be as good as these 16 were! :)
I suppose only time will tell!

I like Taushen, but Brooke? Not at all. Her indecisiveness was frustrating; she put him in the friend zone, only to switch things up two weeks later when she figured out she messed up. 😑

I dunno but the aliens on this planet seemed incredibly nice and genuinely kind-hearted. They can be a bit too innocent at times; it's both charming and exasperating.

Because of that, there are times I think some of the women don't even deserve their mates. They can be quite annoying, especially in the beginning when some of them would drive these men crazy with their back-and-forth antics.

But these aliens would do everything to please their mates, even though they don't understand how the human mind works sometimes.

Anyway, it wasn't entirely bad, but I think I only enjoyed this because of Taushen and nothing more. 🤷‍♀️

So sad, this is the first Ruby Dixon I DNF’d and I have read everything before this, even her other books like the biker and the dragon shifter series and other shifter series. I couldn’t get past the first few pages of this book.. I really did not like how Brooke (h) was portrayed. She was so annoying, I prolly wasn’t in the mood for her brand of annoying. Dunno if I will go back to this book to finish it.

Sweet baby Taushen! After years of being passed over for other people, Taushen really believes his khui is cursed and won't pick a mate.

I liked this book a lot more on my re-read. Taushen is hurting and has turned bitter from loneliness, but is still the kind man we originally met in Barbarian's Prize, when he was competing for Tiffany. Brooke is still a recent addition to Not-Hoth but is personable - she was a hairdresser back on earth so spends a lot of time braiding men and women's hair here, letting them vent. We learn as Taushen watches her that she has different "roles" she puts on - she can be flirty and sweet or distracting to put people at ease.

I loved the concept of them taking a "vacation" away from the tribe.

TW - Brooke is drugged by slavers who capture them at the beginning of the book, the drugs make her super horny and she has sex with Taushen while on them

Taushen deserved so much more than a stupid hoe like Brooke. I'd been waiting for Taushen's story and this was garbage. I love the world building and the storylines but this one? This was so wrong.
If I thought it could happen, I'd like to see a short story about Taushen's recovery from the loss of Brooke (due to her being chewed up and swallowed by a sky-claw while out picking soap-berries) to finding TRUE love, one with someone who wouldn't play silly games and treat him with the real kind of love he deserves.
Two thumbs down 👎👎
