Rachel & Ryan #1

35/F Seeks Alpha

Rate this book
*For Jayha Leigh: Thank you for believing in me and wanting this story.*

Rachel Young-Johnson, known to all as “Ray” and to those who want to be smacked, as “Ray J” is starting a new chapter in her life. At the age of 35, after being married for 8 years to a man who didn’t appreciate her, cheated on her, and emotionally abused her, after giving him 4 children that he ignored until it was beneficial for him, she’s divorced and living on her own. In her own home. Taking care of her children ON HER OWN. Though Ray has always supported single mothers, she never knew how hard it was until she became one herself.
It’s even more difficult when she’s trying to date again. So she places an ad, because she doesn’t want some guy on a dating app sending her d*** pics. She wants an old-fashioned man. One who reads the paper. Who takes out the trash (hers keeps building up because she hates to take it out herself). She wants a man who loves and respects his woman, but wants to take care of his family. Rachel wants an Alpha.

Enter Ryan Bradley, known as “RB” to his family and friends... and the sports media. Not just because of his initials, but because of his position on the NFL team he plays for. One day, while reading the paper he comes across Rachel’s ad and responds on a whim. When Rachel responds, their lives are changed forever. But with Rachel’s ex-husband returning in an attempt to win her back, and the paparazzi and the public poking their noses in their relationship, making insulting comments, this couple will have to fight harder than ever before, for the family and the love they’ve always wanted.

*Trigger/Warning: This book is an angsty romance. The story is not a typical love story. The heroine experiences some heartbreaking events. It is the intention of the author for you to feel her pain and to experience the journey with her. This book contains rough sex, mentions of emotional abuse and reference to a miscarriages which may be triggering for some readers. It is intended for readers 18+. You have been warned.*

"35/F Seeks Alpha" by V. Vee had all the 'feels' necessary to keep you engaged in reading Rachel and Ryan's emotional story!

Heroine, Rachel wanted an alpha man after her divorce and boy, oh boy was Ryan all ALPHA!

Read this one to see just what Ryan did to prove his devotion to Rachel!

The one where I fall head over heels for Ryan!

OMG! This story was so sweet. Ryan was the perfect guy! He was nice, a gentleman, down to earth, a family man and sexy!!! His protective instincts were a turn on and the way he loved Rachael was beautiful.

Rachael was a good woman too. She deserved happiness after being in a bad marriage with a verbally and mentally abusive spouse. Her catching him was the best thing that could have happened to her. It gave her back her freedom.

I loved how the author made Rachael a strong mother despite her insecurities. She was able to pick herself up and continue with her life. She was such a good mother, too. I enjoyed the interactions with her children. When she met Ryan in person, he fell right into their lives. It was like he was the missing piece of their family puzzle.

This story left me all warm and fuzzy inside.

I tried

So, this is the third book I've of this author. And I so tried to like it, give her stories a chance but I can't do it. This had a real potential to be a great story but it fell flat....in a hurry. First, thing is, especially in the beginning of the story, she used that little trademark sign to death. It was distracting, one, I don't like a whole bunch of name brand label dropping, to tell a good story, it's not necessary. Two, it was like on every other page and on some pages more than once. The dialogue between the character was very amateur for someone who has written as many books as she has. I was not drawn into the story at all. With all the 5 star reviews I finally thought I had a winner but sadly I did not

Who knew that one could find love in the newspapers these days.

When Rachel Young Johnson posted an ad in the personals of the newspaper, she had to think about what kind of man she really wanted in her life. After being in an eight-year marriage and divorcing her a**hole ex-husband Jackson Johnson, she knew that she did not want a man who was tied to modern electronics or social media. She wanted a man who was loyal and devoted and love her for her as she is, one who was dedicated, committed and never cheat. Fight to keep her and fight others for her.

Ryan Bradley did not normally read the newspaper at three in the morning but due to a change in his schedule, an ad in the personals caught his eye. There was something about the desires of 35/F Seeks Alpha that he could not resist. Her desires aligned with his. Before he knew it, they were communicating back and forth for a while. By the time they finally met eye to eye, he was smitten and so was she. To RB, Ray was more than his Nubian Queen, she was his Goddess. He had dated women of various ethnicities in the past but, Ray made him feel like his soul was reuniting with an old friend, his other half.

Ray just loved being around Ryan. His voice soothed her and she loved how he bolstered her self esteem. She became addicted to his sweet words pf flattery that filled her with the hope that there was someone for her who would find her sexy enough in spite of her weight and kids. Someone she could grow old with.

In this story, we see how Ryan battles with when and how to pick his battles where racism is concerned whether it be with family or strangers. We also see how Rachel has grown in her self confidence to confront her ex-husband. She also learns that her children are more resilient than she thought they would be without their bio-dad in their life. Ryan was more of a father to them than their own dad and they loved him for it.

I just loved reading this story. V. Vee just has a way of writing stories that keep the reader engaged. I can't wait for book two. I'm anxious to know how RB's family will react as well as what will happen to some of the other characters presented in this book.

V. Vee is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. I find myself looking forward to her next release with bated breath. 35/F Seeks Alpha was a fantastically well written story with great characters and story development. This story took me through a range of emotions and the words jumped off the pages. I felt red hot anger reading some scenes, joy and love reading other scenes. I wanted to reach through the book and slap the crap outta her ex. If there's ever someone in a book that should never get redemption it would be her scum of a husband. The chemistry between Ryan and Ray was sexy and HOT!! Their relationship was amazing and developed fantastically. I loved seeing other favorite characters from V. Vee's other books make an appearance. this story was emotional, intense, sexy, captivating and all around fantastic. I've read it twice already and would highly recommend this story along with V. Vee's other works. Her books are well worth the read. Amazon says that I can only give five stars, if I could I would give this book ten amazing stars. V. Vee is an incredibly gifted wordsmith and I'm looking forward to reading more of her stories and also find out what the future holds for Ray and Ryan.

This story had so much potential, sadly the plot and the characters fell flat. The characters came off amateur-ish, more so their dialogue. The falling in love was rushed. I feel the author should have expanded the book so she could further explore the relationship and not rush things. Instead she chose a HFN ending and is writing 1 or 2 follow ups.
The formatting was off and distracting. The page numbers, book title and author name from her writing source were on every page. So on my device, the story would be interrupted mid sentence then continue five lines down. It was annoying. Also, Vee is a little obsessed with lists and trademarks. She focused too much on introducing secondary characters, I guess setting up their individual stories. All of it was unnecessary and it made the story too wordy.
Know all and all, I did enjoy the message and how sweet Ryan was to Ray and her kids. I just feel the author did the bare minimum when it came to the potential for this story. It could've been a beautiful, emotional rollercoaster. Instead it's a one time, forgettable read.

“35F Seeks Alpha” starts with an abusive confrontation. A year later single mom Ray decides to give dating a try with a personal ad. Ryan responds and it’s the beginning of a romantic, sweet and spicy love affair. I love this story! It’s emotional, funny, thoughtful and passionate. There is honesty in the way that it deals with racial issues and blended families. Ryan is a great book boyfriend - giving, attentive, and protective. Ray discovers her inner goddess with his help. I feel for Ray - her insecurities, fears and uncertainty. But she is also brave, independent and a great mother to her children. When she unleashes her inner tiger - she roars! This is an endearing story and I look forward to reading more about this beautiful couple. There are other characters that have their own unique stories. I will be looking for those as well. Very entertaining!

You have to know the lingo

If you do not refer to your lady parts as cooter or poonanny you can’t read this book. If you don’t believe in love after divorce then don’t read this book. If you do not want to get caught up in the love story that is this book then don’t. BUT if you want a love story that will make you smile and possibly stalk football players then this one is for you. I loved how Rachel got her life after being in a loveless marriage. I loved how fierce she was about her kids. I loved that Ryan saw her as the beautiful woman she is and helped her to see it and accept that she was worthy of real love. I loved how he stood up for her and that they had a HEA. This book gave me all the feels. You should ReadThisBook!

What a man, what a man mighty Good Man.

Ray lived with a cheating Husband who didn't care for her or the kids.

When a woman is feed up, she will let go with the quickness.

My girl is fancy free and can't wait to mingle. She put an ad in the paper.

And Viola in steps a HUNK to end all HUNKS. RB, it sounds so damn sexy just like the person.

He stepped into ray life like whirlwind and made her rethink her life.

As the song by Salt-n-Pepa said "What a man, What a man, What a Mighty Good Man. Lord he was that and then some.

I love the way V Vee brought this story together, especially at the end. Not going to say, have too read it yourself.

Kudos Nicey.

A phenomenal read! This book is a roller coaster of emotions – scenes will make you tear up, break your heart, laugh out loud, smile, or just shake your head. Lots of drama and ups and downs but through it all, the connection between Rachel and Ryan only grew stronger. It is a well written, well developed, engaging, emotionally deep, and enjoyable romance and I strongly recommend reading it. I look forward to reading more about this couple.

Rachel has finally moved past her cheating husband. She has become the cliche she foughtvso hard against. Now she wants a real man. One who treats her like a treasure and takes out the garbage. In comes Ryan. He wants a woman to cherish. He wants a woman who looks past who he is and what he does. I thoroughly enjoyed the sweet way Ryan and Rachel got to know each other. It was sweet and old fashioned. I loved that they saw the inner desires and dreams before they ever saw the outside appearance. I loved seeing Rachel and Ryan find their connection. It was quick but felt real. I cannot wait to see where Ms Vee takes us next as Ryan and Rachel navigate their budding relationship.

You never know when love will find you. You never know what you really want until it hits you smack dead in the face. A single mother and a childless man find what was missing from their lives in each other. They had to overcome a lot of roadblocks, adjusted and moved forward to build a life together. Just because you were raised and taught to do things a certain way doesn't mean you can't make your own decisions and choices when you become an adult.

I loved Ryan. He was exactly what Rachel needed. We aren’t given a lot of details about the beginning of Rachel and Jackson’s relationship but at the end he treated her horribly. Ryan helped Rachel overcome the heartache caused by Jackson. Ryan proved over and over in different ways his love and devotion to Rachel. This is a story that leaves you with the “feel goods”!

Enjoyable

I love the fact that a playlist is included, love listening to music as I read and an author making a ist of songs that goes perfectly with the book adds a star for me. Not to mention the book itself is amazingly cute and the heroine who didn't let the haters keep her down. Can't wait for book two, and to pick up some of V. Vee other book.

A little R & R is what I needed . Ryan and Rachel were a perfect match at the right time of their lives. This was a good start to a series that has me looking forward to future stories and seeing them included with the Irishman series characters. Rachel is afraid of Andrew and Ryan dated the BOB, between the two couples they have at least 10 children. I'm interested to see how Ms. Vee weaves the 2 series together. I've already pre-ordered book 2

Touchdown

Who knew that a personal as would bring two completely different people together and lead to their own happily ever after. Don't know why I was surprised this was an excellent read considering I really enjoy this author's stories. I noticed she brought in some of her other characters into the story, too. Can't wait to read the next book.

Why did I like this book? It had romance, humor, past characters, football and the hero was from a small town fifteen minutes away from where I live. Didn't care for the team he played for, New England Patriots
