Mae Dafoe is back in her hometown chasing ghosts. She’s forgotten what it’s like to be around her big crazy family, and it’s a big adjustment coming from the life she’s created for herself in the years she’s been gone. Three days here, and then she can go back to her apartment in the city, and far away from the swamps of Uncertain. All she needs is closure. But when she finds one of the ghosts she’s been chasing, she’s shocked to find he isn’t a ghost at all, but a shifter. The old Cole that she knew doesn’t exist anymore, but as she gets to know this sexy, dangerous, growly New Cole…she starts thinking about the life she left behind. Pulled between two very different worlds, she has to decide on a damaging past and an uncertain future…and somehow survive them both.

Cole Jennings goes by the name Fargo now. Might as well, since he’s a dog most of the time. He’s hidden what happened to him from the entire town, but a girl he used to know is back in his territory, scratching at his secrets. He has one job to do, and that’s to keep the Lachlan gators and their mates protected, but Mae DaFoe is pulling at his instincts to let the animal inside of him go, and to be a better man. She’ll have to wait for him to finish his hunt though, because he has a grudge that won’t ever go away. If he can just keep her away from him for a little while longer, maybe he can keep her safe, too.

Shifters, witches, and ghosts, aw yeah! Don’t miss this exciting final installment in T. S. Joyce’s bestselling Keepers of the Swamp trilogy.

**Content Warning: Explicit love scenes, naughty language, and piles of sexy shifter secrets. Intended for mature audiences.

Best book in the series. Book 1 was ok but I didn't really FEEL much. Not like I usually do with a TS book. It was also shorter than usual (these books are always short but that was even shorter.) Book 2 was awful. Shorter than normal but filled with so many errors and inconsistencies I was actually worried my girl, TS was possibly having a hard time in her life because honestly that level of crappiness was just so out of character for her. But whatever it was ended because this book was great. It didn't feel too short or rushed, I didn't find errors and she brought her usual feels to the party. If you thought about skipping this book for the same reasons I did (because 1 and 2 weren't great) don't!

So we are still in the gator world with this one, but no gator, just the one keeping them safe. I found the connection between Cole and the gators to be interesting and glad that it changed along the way. Cole needed their support and they seemed to feel guilty for how Cole ended up the keeper.

The romance between Mae and Cole was a bit bittersweet. I was very glad that Mae had the support of the gator women and how they made Mae see what she really wanted.

The big action at the end was crazy, but I'm so glad that our crew came out on top.

STOP WHATEVER YOU ARE DOING! That's what I do whenever T.S.Joyce releases a new book. I stop reading whatever book I am in the middle of and dive into the complex relationships waiting for me in Joyce's shifter worlds. This book is no exception. My heart just broke for Cole and Mae. They were so in love yet had to be apart. It wasn't fair!!! and poor Holt and his role in this drama, you really feel for all the characters in this small swamp town of Uncertain.
This author can always be counted on for a great story mixed in with the sweetest signs of affection between the mates and their clan. Thank goodness I know she would not let me down by not providing a HEA because sometimes that faith is the only thing that gets me through whatever crisis the characters are going through. You really get sucked into the world she has created and feel honored to have been a guest there for a little while....

This book had me doing all kinds of feels lol . I only have two negatives about the book the sex scene felt so rushed . Like barely a full page she said the first time was quick but I must have spaced out on that part . The second was not really bad but I do wish he got to keep some kind of monster .

Uncertainties!!!

Cole Jennings aka Fargo (Holt's German Shepherd) whom we've met since the beginning of the series had hidden what happened to him from the entire town. But there was one person that was about to discover his secrets, a girl he used to know and cared about. He had a job to do and that was to keep the Lachlan Clan protected but Mae wasn't making it easy for him to do that.

Mae Dafoe was back in her hometown of Uncertain, Texas chasing ghosts. She'd forgotten how crazy things were when she was around her family. It took some adjustment for her to ease back into her old life after the one she'd created for herself over the years in the city. She intended to spend only three days but things changed when she discovered that one of the ghosts she'd been chasing was more than beneath the eyes.

He told her all about his ordeal and how his life changed in the past three years. She was agree at the Lachlans at the first but in the end she understood that none of them were to blame for what happened. Even though Holt still felt guilty, Cole didn't blame him.

Cole had a score to settle with Morgan's dad and old friend, he tried to keep Mae safe by pushing her away. But the his heart, family and friends wouldn't let him. They knew he needed her like he needed air to breathe. They were mates and there was no separating them, no matter what. Mae got the closure she needed as well as Cole.

Loved the background about how Fargo came to be. That day Holt's compassion and his pleas to his grandmother were the things they saved Cole's life. It was great to see how close Holt, Liam and Cole were even their mates found an incredible bond with him. The way they all welcomed Mae into their circle was done beautifully.

Once again the enemies underestimated the Lachlan Clan. So happy to see all the boys get their well deserved HEAs.

BITE DEEPER is the third installment in T. S. Joyce's KEEPERS OF THE SWAMP  series. It was enthralling, heartbreaking, captivating and a fantastic read. I'm going to miss this series very much. T. S. Joyce did a magnificent job. 5 Golden Stars!

Ok, you have a weird thing going on here. Black magic that supposedly "saves" a guys life so he can
"die" to his human self and shift into his once beloved dog,and then the dog can"die" when he shifts
back. It's weird and doesn't really make sense but that's mainly because there is no real explanation of it.
While that irked me some I was willing to let that go. While I couldn't let go was how lackluster this book/story
was. The normal togetherness and camaraderie was missing.
The random uncle being called a vagina fart and the heroine's sudden obsession w/a mangy poorly named
chicken might have made sense third book in one of the series set in the trailer parks where we'd gotten to know everyone and this behavior is not only excepted but almost required but like this, it just fell flat.
Then there's the fact as odd as this story is it's not really built on anything.
He loves her,she loves him, they've both been extremely miserable w/out each other but for some reason
need to hem and haw and draw out their decision to be together til over 71% of the book.
"But he can't be w/me all the time." "He has to shift into a dog sometimes for weeks at a time."
Yeah, but he's still there w/you just in another form. You know unlike all those men and women in the military ?
This B soo needed a friend who's husband or boyfriend was in the military, soo she could go and start to complain
to her and get the reality check about how some ppl have to be parted for months and months if not a year or more at a time. All the while praying they come back at all.
I mean seriously, where was the dilemma?
And that's what three quarters of the book is about. Can I be w/a man who has to live a life like this.
If I loved my man like she '"supposedly" did and I'd already spent three miserable years w/out him?
Yeah,no choice. I'm there w/him.
I didn't feel the chemistry or love. and everything was tired up in a "HEA" at the end.
No.
This felt lackluster and forced. This felt like the series needed an ending and this was it.
I wouldn't recommend and I wish I hadn't wasted my time on it.
Skip it and read her newest series about the Bulls.

Bite Deeper--May Be Spoilers

I liked this final book in the Keepers of the Swamp series. In "Dig Deeper," it was hinted that there was something more to Holt Lachlan's dog, Fargo. Turns out Fargo is no ordinary German Shepherd...but some sort of amalgam of man and dog...

Cole Jennings had gone out on a gator hunt with his father and brother. He didn't know that the gator their group had come upon was one of the Lachlan shifters, Holt. In the melee that ensued, Cole and his dog Max we're both mortally wounded...and Holt begged his grandma, Raina ("the witch of the swamp"), to save Cole's life. The only way to do it? Bind Cole and Max together. Fargo/Cole was tasked with protecting the Lachlan's...his people... and the ones that would become part of their family.

Mae Lynn Dafoe had been the love of Cole's life (and he, hers) before all of this happened. As far as she knew, Cole and his dog had perished in the swamp that fateful night three years ago. Her feelings for Cole, however, never had. Now, Mae finds herself back in Uncertain, Texas for her great-grandmother's funeral and over the course of a few days, everything is brought to light.

One of the reasons I liked this book was because the threat level was turned up. Seamus Holland and his group of poachers is back, and the game of "who-is-hunting-whom" begins and the excitement gets turned up, as well.

I would have liked a little more to the ending or the epilogue. Like...Are Seamus and Cal dead or were they arrested? (And we're the police just OK with everything that went down?) What happens with Bre's pregnancy (does she have a girl, which means no gatah...or a boy, which means gatah)? What about Morgan and Liam?

This book had a sweetness factor like the other two books, and like the others, not a lot in the way of heat. I liked it and I'd recommend it for a fairly quick read.

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

BITE DEEPER is the third and final story in the Keepers of the Swamp trilogy – although, “final” is never a real guarantee that these folks won’t show up again one day, somewhere. I’ve learned that much while reading T. S. Joyce’s work – never say never.

Cole/Fargo is a fascinating character. Not really a shifter, more a product of swamp magic but still the human within has an intense life now, one of service that’s turned into an odd kind of friendship with Holt and Liam. He’s a guardian who will defend this family, mates and future babies included, for the rest of his life. Or he would have except his past is back in town and life is changing once again.

I always expect the unexpected from T. S. Joyce, and she delivered big time with BITE DEEPER. It’s an emotionally intense story full of unique friendships, hatred, ghosts, and magic born of desperation. Mae and Cole were once, and always will be, deeply in love with each other. Fate changed that and now fate has stepped in once again. This one will put you through all the emotions possible and leave you satisfied with the end. I didn’t need detailed closure on the bad guys, I knew from their screams that they got what they deserved, it was enough. I really hope we aren’t totally done with the small town of Uncertain for I’d definitely like the chance to run into these very special characters again. I had a blast and if you love Shifter Romance or Paranormal Romance then you should be reading this trilogy. You’ll be hooked on T. S. Joyce if you aren’t already. Oh, I saw the special numbers again (did you?) – wonder where we’re going next…

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Yes, yes, yes 5 Stars!!

This is the book I've been waiting for from her! This is the first book in months that has felt like the author finally took the time to write more and not rush through it to get it published. It wasn't short and the characters had development that we could see on the pages. It didn't happen "off screen" per say.

I loved, loved, loved Mae and Cole. They felt like friends from the first meeting and the feeling only grew as the story went on. Because they were already known to each other it was refreshing to just see them fall back into step with each other. There was no dramatic miscommunication thing that separated them before the story started. It was something that was truly out of their control.

I loved all of the side characters and that we got to see more from the other couples in the series. I feel like I learned so much about them from this book than I did in their own books. This book made me feel so much and I missed this feeling when reading books from this author. It felt like she got her groove back and I loved it. I am hoping it's a trend she will continue in the next books.

This is the third book in the series. While they can be read as standalones they are better read in order. I had a feeling right away that Fargo wasn’t just a dog. While he isn’t a shifter perse he isn’t just a dog either. This book is Fargo/Cole’s story. Mae has come back after being gone for three years. She is back for her great grandma’s funeral. Mae thought Cole had died three years ago. It was the reason she left. When she learns he is still alive she just can’t let go. Cole knows he should have stayed away but knowing Mae was back he just couldn’t. Now it will be even harder letting her go a second time. But she deserves better than he can give her. Just a few days every month. Someone times you have to let the other person choose. I loved this book so much. It was one of my favorites by T.S. Joyce. This book takes you on one heck of an emotional journey. I felt for Mae and Cole so much. Cole is the keeper of the swamp. He protects the gators and their mates. How he became what he is is tragic. His shifts aren’t smooth like a shifter. They were painful to read about. I can’t wait to see T.S. Joyce comes up with next. Congrats on another fantastic book.

End of series, New people to love!

Cole and Mae...3rd couple and the last of this series. I ran the gauntlet of emotions on this one. As always, I love everything T writes. This is my favorite of the series.
Cole wasn't born a shifter, but one night he loses everything. His life and the love of his life. He dies with every shift, man or beast. Knowing Mae deserves better, he allows her to believe he's dead.
Mae escaped Uncertain a broken woman after the love of her life died in the swamp. The only reason she's returned is the loss of her great -grandma.
Shifters are out to the public and when she sees an enormous German Shepherd with eyes the color of her lost love, Mae puts it all together.
New friends, lethal enemies, a fierce love worth fighting for, and bayou magic make this the perfect close of this series.

I do enjoy how diverse this little world is.
As well as having the gator brothers, we get a unique and different tale, a shifter but not a shifter.
An entertaining read with a busy storyline happening.
Cole/Fargo, oh wow, what a thing to go through. Really different in a storyline. Explains an awful lot from the first two books. Was really good to see the close bond Holt, Liam and Cole had. Interesting that Holt had not told Bre.
Even the women forged a bond with him.
Mae was likeable but I can’t say she was memorable. The history they had was sweet butt how sad that she had gone through having to grieve for him.
I just wish the author had tidied things up and said what happened after the big fight scene. What happened to Seamus, Cal and the other nasty cowardly poachers? Did Cole get to them or not? Are they no longer a problem?

Cole gets Mae and the swamp to protect always

I never saw this coming. I love the gatormen Liam and Colt. Never thought of Fargo being anything other than a protective massive dog. Mae finding out that after 3 years, her true love was still alive and she didn't faint or act pissed off. Oook I kind of expected a bit more reaction. Cole and Mae are the perfect compliment to each other. I guess the only thing I miss in the book is the true aftermath of who all got taken in the swamp that day. Probably everyone but I needed a little closure there is all. I love Cole and Mae's story. I kind of fell in love with the swamp in this series which really needs to be read in order to get the most out of them. I still do not like bugs and skeeters so won't be going to a swamp any time soon lol.

Of the Keepers of the Swamp trilogy, I think this one is my favorite. Cole's story is by far the most interesting and unexpected.

Everyone's favorite Good Boy, Fargo, was clearly more than just a monstrously large German Shepherd. But. He's not a Shifter; he's something different completely. Fargo was once Cole, and Cole had his Mae. After an accident, Mae is led to believe Cole has died, and she leaves for a life far away from Uncertain, TX. Three years later, the death of Mae's great grandmother brings her back to town, where the truth about what happened to the love of her life comes to light. Now Mae has some big decisions to make about her future, but some rotten poachers keep antagonizing everyone and making things messy. Can Cole and Mae say goodbye a second time?

Interesting end to the trilogy (and addition to the shifter mythology) - I kept waiting for a larger conflict between Mae and Cole, but they seemed to patch things up quickly enough. There were some copy editing errors (they're instead of their, here instead of hear), as well as a larger continuity error that took me out of the story

To Live Or Die

Cole sealed his fate and ended his life the night he tried to kill a gator in the TX swamps. Little did he know, that gator was a Lachlan Shifter. Attacked by the gator, he is dying quickly. Raina Lachlan offers salvation by becoming Keeper of the Swamp. Forever protecting the Lachlan Shifters and their families, as Fargo, the German Shepard Shifter.
Mae was so in love with Cole, until the night he drown in the swamps, she needed to move on with her life. Three yrs later she is back home for her GG Tabby’s funeral. Ghosts are everywhere in the swamps, so is she really seeing Cole, or just another ghost?
Beware the legend of the Lachlan Witch, she can do more than you think! Check this story and series out today! Steamy, sexy and a little bit haunted, just the way I like it!

We learned in the last book that Fargo was really Cole. Bless his heart. I can’t imagine how much he suffered having his life change so much. When Mae shows up after three years, he desperately wants her in his life but knows he can never give her what she deserves. When Mae learns the truth that the boy she loved isn’t dead, it breaks her heart to discover how much he has hurt and what really happened in the past.

Cole and Mae were destined to be together. They are both very caring and worry more about other people than themselves. The characters from the previous books made appearances, and the storyline regarding the poachers is concluded.

Bite Deeper is the final book in this series, and my favorite of the three.

Wow! I am again impressed with this author. I wanted this story but what I got is not a typical shifter story. I got pain and anguish, fear and hate and best of all i got love. Young love, strong love, familial love and trusting love. Oh and there are tears! I don’t want to forget to mention those. Happy and sad tears. I love these characters for what it took for them all to be here and co to us on. Even that crazy chicken. I want to make. Quick mention of Tabby-she is wonderful add to the story. I have to wonder at all her antics and thoughts. Every family needs a Tabby in their family.

While this is a different type of shifter series I can easily see this three books being re-reads. Just from the emotional standpoint not counting all the goodness of these characters.

Warm Hearted Mate

TS Joyce continues to add to her incredible series, Keepers of the Swamps, with Bite Deeper.

And that is just what she does to us! She bites deeper and deeper into our hearts, with her compassionate and life-fulfilling characters.

What I especially loved about this book, and series, was it brought out the pain and misunderstanding we all feel at some time. When we think we are different and not accepted, we have a choice to make. T’s choices all revolve around love.

Mae and Cole and Fargo and Max’s story completes this series. But I can still see Tabby and Raina and Bre and Holt and Morgan and Liam, sitting amongst the fireflies, shining their love on each other.

by far T.S. Joyce is the best author in her genre on kindle unlimited. She creates wonderous, amazing characters with an awesome sense of humor the sex scenes are tasteful and not overlong. I don't get story-whiplash like some other reads that come out as quick as T.S. Joyce's. A lot of books similar to hers you can tell they probably blocked out the scenes as there isn't a smooth transition, like rapid forgiveness between a man and woman and then they start making out. I hate that and I very, very rarely see that with Joyce's work. I know I'm going to have a great time reading her books when they come out. This story plays into the whole you make your own family, and just because someone is blood doesn't mean they have to be in your life. I love that.

Grit and determination always equals pure joy!

This book was amazing and I couldn’t put it down! You are rooted in place for all the sad, happy, heartbreaking and joyous moments. You can’t ask for more from a book! I highly recommend this book to everyone! Though my only disappointment was I didn’t get to read about any of the next generation of baby gators! Maybe there will be a book 4...hint,hint!

Thank you for all your books and series they are always rereads and help a person escape for a time into these worlds of pain in the butt gorgeous dominant men and the women who make them beg to give them every second of their time and devotion.

Bite Deeper

It has been three years since Cole had set eyes on Mae. It was three years ago he transformed into Fargo the German shepherd and made Me believe he was dead. Mar saw the German shepherd at her great Grandmothers wake and those eyes sure looked like Her first and only love Cole. So when she heads to holts to see Fargo She sees Cole standing there. She now knows that Fargo is Cole but, he has maybe three days before he changes back. Will this make or break Mae? Great read. Couldn't put down till I was finished.love this book. Made me cry, jump for not and sweat like a sailor. Lol.

Fargo/Cole and Mae

I saw the first book in this series and wondered if I wanted to read it. I’m not really a fan of alligators. However, the book is by one of my favorite authors, so yes, read it I did. And loved it. Couldn’t wait for the second one. Got it, read it, loved it too. Through these two books, I met several characters. But one stood out... Fargo, the dog that guarded our heroes. There was just something about this dog that tweaked my curiosity. Now I know why. He ended up being my favorite character, and book in this series. Read it and see how he and Mae find their way back to each other.

A Ghostly Past

Sometimes Love can be part of your past, your ghostly past. But, a new adventure can show you that love is so much more.
Cole and Mae had a past full of love when tragedy takes it from them. Until many years later that Love shows up to say I never left you. This book is the third of a great series. So much happens in the little town of Uncertain that tells you a small town can be hell to live in but mostly it’s a place to build a life of Love in. You definitely want to read the first two books to understand who all the people are and how important they are for this story. Just know you will be hooked on each book!

Like nothing I’ve ever read before

Holy moly! My heart is still hurting! Listen, I’m sappy emotional... like crying at commercials so maybe I’m just being dramatic, but I’m pretty sure I cried the entire time I read this book! I was so happy “Fargo” was getting a story but my heart broke when I learned the backstory. Damn Tera, only you could wring the emotions out of a heart like that. No one deserves a happily ever after more than Cole. To see what they all had to endure. To see Mae find her way.. ugh ALL THE FEELS! Definitely took the shifter genre and turned it on it’s supernatural head. Didn’t see it coming but I loved every minute! Well done! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Yes!!!

Loved it..Man oh man what a ending, once again love concurs all. But to get to that point a lot had to happen..so Cal and his dad is no more and peace can now rein in Uncertain. Love the way things turned out for Mae and Cole..who would believe Fargo was once a red blooded human, but all that changed when they went hunting for gators. And then the worse happened and Raina had to do her dirty deeds to same two souls. But everything work out as it should, and I will miss these peeps from Uncertain..very good series and looking forward to your next book T. S..big fan as always Winzie19☺💞.

Final book in this series.

OMG! This author had to make it so I would cry through over half of this book! So if you dont like books that bring out your heartfelt emotions, dont read this. Otherwise, strap in and be ready with a box of tissues. This book is AWESOME!
Fargo/Cole knew and dated his mate when he was in high school. But because of one stupid action he lost her and his life.
Mae has believed that Cole died 3 years ago. When she comes back for her great grandmother's funeral she sees a large German shepherd that has his eyes. Is she crazy?
Read and find out what the whole story is.

Awww Mae and Cole (Fargo). That boy definitely got cursed. Just making some mistakes a few years ago and only way to save his life was...Raina and she turned him into his dog or he would have died. Holt knew he made a mistake but wanted him saved anyways. Mae hasn't been home for years. She's back to mourn her beloved funny as hell relative Tabby. She loved Cole but she assumed he died and freaks out when she finds out differently. I loved her. I loved Cole because he's been through hell. I enjoyed the end of this series. I wanted more stories of course because I love these guys. That's ok...she's got great plans for other stories. Muah!!!
