The storyline was good and the characters were interesting but what spoiled it for me was the constant lectures throughout the book. Everyone seemed to have some sort of psychology degree. Paragraphs and paragraphs of speeches. That was frustrating and I found myself skipping sections of the book to get to the dialogue. Savage was funny and “savage” and I love alpha male characters
This is the love journey of Eva ( Zaire) and Maximus Savage!! I love everything about this book! Strong alpha man that’ll sooner ship your lights out and talk to you and of course Eva strong black woman. Both are damaged by their past but mad at the right time release all that hurt from when they were children and admit they needed someone in this case each other! Did I say I loved the story?! Lol 😂. Good Gawd I love me some Maximus savage!! Can we get an AMEN from choir please?! 👏🏾👏🏽 just finished Savage. Well what can I say you did your shit girl! Loved it. i’m leaving a review on Goodreads and Amazon! Readers if you haven’t read this one you’re missing out.
Fire! I said freaking 🔥 FIYAHHHHH! I’ve am locked and loaded for Savage! This book! OMG 😱! Imagery...like I’m sitting right beside everything that transpired! Dialogue had my flipping pages and go back and reread it cause the author laid down some ish! And the sex? The SEX was just as orgasmic as it should have been, considering the chemistry of “EVA” and SAVAGE. And let me say how beautifully written Savage’s vulnerability was written. I think it was better than some of the sex scenes! For real ladies! This is an ABSOL-EFFING-UTELY ( in my Savage voice) NECESSARY ONE CLICK!
I managed two chapters Sorry to those who have loved this book, but it just wasn't for me. I lost track in the two chapters how many times I read about his hairy black chest, then there was gallons of cum. Just way to descriptive for my liking.
What I Liked: -The action and gore scenes were very descriptive and left a vivid picture in my mind. -Both characters had distinctive personalities and traits that balanced one another. -The book was a moderately long read. It wasn't too short or too long. To feel like you got your money's worth. -The romantic scenes were are off the charts. -The book did a good job of touching bases on a lot of issues like domestic violence and mental health. -The author's music playlist was a great addition to the story and elevated the reading experience.
What I Didn't Like: -I feel like the mystery of who was targeting Savage fell flat. The story painted Savage as an elite assassin with impeccable instincts. Yet, his boss and team member constantly doubted that someone was actually trying to kill him. I felt that the story made you believe that you knew who the suspect was (I'm looking at you Harlem!), but it kind of came out of left field when the culprit(s) were revealed. I think the the author used a "Red Herring" to keep you from guessing the real culprit(s). -Sometimes, I felt like Savage overreacted or talked too much. He had some really good monologues, but he definitely was long-winded. -I felt like there wasn't enough interaction between Zaire and Savage's family, as well as between Savage and Zaire's family. To say that both of them really cared about their family's and talked about them in-depth at the beginning of the story. You saw little to no action with them. -There were a lot of plot fillers that had no real depth or were dead-ends. I felt no real emotional connection to these scenes other than a quick giggle or headshake. For example, the beef between Austin and Longhorn, the relationship troubles with Zaire's friends (Kim and Allison), Zaire's stalker, Savage's expertise at Blackjack, the purse jacker in Las Vegas, etc. -I didn't like Zaire (Eva) as much as I wanted. Yes, she was a good match for Savage but she never truly redeemed herself in my mind. Ms. Laveen did a great job of making her seem like a know-it-all. Unlike Zaire, Savage was able to balance his arrogant and know-it-all traits with humor and a certaint innocence.
I would definitely recommend anyone who is interested in badass assassin biker romance novels to purchase this book.
First I want to thank the author for the artwork. She’s one of the rare authors who gives us an interesting and unique cover. I liked both of the protagonists. A strong female lead who was really annoying at first with her superiority complex and a male lead who was unapologetic about who he was. I also appreciated that they were adults (in their late thirties who were a bit broken and definitely not billionaires but « regular « people). The book was funny but also raw as some real issues were tackled, no convoluted reason for them to breakup but instead a real building of a relationship while going to their core as human beings. I didn’t enjoy her trying to shrink him about him having issues with women and linking it to his mother. To me this came across as her not accepting that he could be unfeeling at times and a born killer. Some people just are and it’s not due to trauma but their nature and there is nothing wrong with that. He used to sleep with a lot of women but that doesn’t mean he has no respect for them. Some people just have a strong sex drive and given his job he needs an outlet and it was his. It doesn’t have to be deeper. Let’s not be judgmental and say that unless you’re in a relationship there’s something wrong with you and you must have some sort of trauma. She used to have a lot of one night stands. Does this mean she has issues with men? I would have liked to have read the scene between Maximus and her dad, a few scenes with them in social situations and definitely the birth of their child. For the next book could the editor make sure that the physical description of the black woman is the same throughout ? We went from soft brown to mahogany to earth color. Could we also have more light skin or biracial heroines please? They are under represented in your body of work.
Don’t get me wrong this was a good book..... it just had to many side trips that really didn’t go w/ the main story... if it could have just wrapped around Maximus and Zaire ... and their respective jobs and their emotional hesitation I’d b like yes!!! Giving this book a 5 star ....there was just to much side stories to fully enjoy the main story!!
I loved this book! It was real; it was raw. Zaire and Savage were imperfect people doing the best they can with the hand they were dealt with. Their love story was not glamorized or neatly wrapped up in a pretty package. They were strong enough to stand in their truth and love honestly.
THIS BOOK WAS SAVAGE’S STORY!!! I loved MAXIMUS & ZAIRE, but this was His story. It was an excellent read. I had to literally force myself to put down the book.
This couple were made for each other. They needed each other in more ways than one. The chemistry was great.
Before purchasing the book I read some of what one of the reviewers stated about the book being “wordy”. I kind of get it but its not wordy in a boring too descriptive type of way it more conversationally wording. It made me think in more of a monological matter when having a discussion and must get that point across.
This was my first book by this Author and yes I will he reading and buying her books again. I will start reading GUMBO later tonight.
Good as usual. Some parts felt a little drawn out, but I still enjoyed the story and the characters. I would be interested in Zaire’s friends’ stories if that was to ever be a thing.
It was worth the money. I enjoyed it. I don't usually spend money on books since I have KU but I really did enjoy this one, it came highly recommended. There was some good character development ,some humor, and best of all good editing and good sex
I thought this was different kind of a story. A psychologist and a hitman... But she just killed the vibe😑😑😑 too uptight from the beginning.. 🥱 And of course she had to have a messy past🙄why a psychologist couldn't come from a normal background!? God 😒 For once I want to read a story where h is a psychologist but doesn't have a abnormal past or psycho boyfriend.. please...is there any book like that???? I felt like she was a lousy psychologist.. i mean.. come on . He said that he was a professional killer.. he had guns all the time.. but she, a psychologist graduated from YALE🤣 didn't get it!! H is far better at judgements than h. Okay I'm just at chap-8 and I want to quit. I'm bored to death 🥱🥱🥱🥱
I don't mind a hard sex what I do mind is pathetic h. If u want a to write about a weak h then say that! Why tell us that she is strong brave yada yada... then give h a strong profession but inside make her vulnerable!! And why can't a girl take sex as a fun!! For God's sake if a guy can take it as a fun then why can't a girl?? Why everytime after sex h has to get emotionally attached and make herself a dumb goat!!
What I can't tolerate is that h is shown as superficially strong and full with pathetic mess.. everytime h opens her mouth she humiliates herself even more than the last time🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Okay so it's chap-10 and I'M DONE. Maybe this book has lots of hot sex(my fav thing) but that's not enough to keep going. Cz if I want just sex I could read reverse harem or other erotic books. I want to enjoy a story 😤. This h character is a total humiliation toward psychologists and entire female generation 😖😖😖
This book took me to a world that very few know exist, the world of a killer for hire. A man with a real license to kill. Maximus Savage was crude, rude, brilliant, sexy and sexual. His occupation forces him to be a chameleon, he has to fit into any world that he may be thrust into in order to carry out his missions. So when it came to his personal life he is unwavering in his needs and desires. He made no bones about what he wanted out of life. He enjoyed the finer things, be it houses, cars, bikes or women. Eva or Zaire as she is known to most, definitely fit the bill. She checked all of his boxes, while he, on the surface, was nothing but a huge red flag "hell no" in her book. She'd been burned by the bad boy type time and time again. And when he tossed her a crudely wrapped invitation to spend an evening with him, she knew he was nothing but trouble. But what happens in Vegas, or so the saying goes. Zaire decides to throw caution to the wind, let her freak flag fly one final time and then wash her hands of the annoying, abrasive, gorgeous tattooed brute that decided she was worthy of his attention. But, that weekend would change everything for them both, taking the pair on a journey that neither could have anticipated, leading to love, loss and forever.
Tiana did it again Savage and Eva were made for each other! Every page every sentence was great! The relationship was a done affair there was action on each page, the author storyline was on target you will Love Savage and wish he was yours but only if you are as strong as Eva! Love in their relationship was one of, I got this, it was hard to put down but I did not want it to end! Each character had a purpose in the story, from their parents, to the friends and throw in the non friends they just fitted, Savage was the man and Eva a strong black woman also had the control! I loved everything about this book! I will rate it a 5 ++++! I have never been disappointed with any of this author's book! I buy them as fast as she writes them and I have plenty of them!
This was outrageous, and fantastic from cover to cover. I don't recall ever loving a character like Savage. He's as crass as they come, and I couldn't get enough. He's rough, rugged and extremely raw, and if the good Doc thinks their initial meeting was a jaw dropper, wait until she actually gets to know him. I loved this couple to no ends. They were vulnerable and broken, but when the masks finally came off, they were explosive. I haven't had this much fun reading a book in a while. It took a Savage to get my blood pumping, and I enjoyed every page until the very end. Super freakin sexy, heart pounding excitement, tear jerking moments, and boy did I laugh. This one might be my favorite Tiana!
Their world wasn’t supposed to mingle, she took an oath to heal and preserve life, he took an oath to kill and get rid of the riffraffs. He is RAW, crass, crude, no filter none whatsoever, loving the p***ies and made no apologies, Hot as sin... His IQ is on top of the chart. She is beautiful, refined, classy, educated, intelligent... and with a PHD., every one has a weakness and in Dr Zaire Ellinger’s case, hers is Badboys... and by gally she got that in spades from Savage aka Maximus. He will tell you himself that he is the devil in the flesh. I don’t want to leave too many spoilers, so grab a copy and Let Savage tell you how it’s all happened, how the “devil “ snatched the “Angel”. (she is no angel!!! 😝) Awesome read!!
This story reminds me of why she is one of my absolute favorite authors. When opposites attract and the chemistry is combustible, it makes a page turner.
Savage is ruthless, fearless and full of humor. He's a take no prisoner alpha male who goes after what he wants. He makes no excuses for his upbringing. Zaire has secrets but she is a tough, intelligent, beautiful who was unable to resist the force that is Maximus Savage.
I love the banter between the characters, the humor and the gritty, raw dialogue. I love the storyline and recommends it as a great page turner.
I did not want to read this book. I had read a few other books by this author and they were always 5 star reads. But she is so detailed and really develops characters that I knew this would be a wild ride. She did not disappoint. The characters are complex and you really feel like you understand who they are. Some other reviews said that the author side tracked and went into details about other characters, but it gave us a chance to get to better understand the main characters. You will feel full after reading such a rich and well thought out story. Thank you Ms. Laveen!
best ever mind romance with balls of a girl gladiator
I loved this book for it was challenging tired tropes and giving real character development to our heroic lovers. I can’t describe the book without giving a psych and English book report.
The love story was unexpectedly well done. I cared for all the bastardized shenanigans and bitch like behavior of Eva and Max.
I warmed inwardly with his proposal. And was charmed by his unorthodox family. This book is for Adults who understand sex is not a beginning or end of a romance.
Thank you. MrLavish is my mile high club winner and co-pilot.
It was weird reading the love story of characters I really just didn't like! I think that speaks to a Laveen's talent as a writer because I seriously could not STAND Savage nor Zaire. Like, their personalities were jarring, grating, and they got in my damn nerves. Urg, when Zaire's "occasional" voting preferences were noted I literally just went "Oh hell nah". Also Savage was just so ridiculously immature and over the top that I wanted to reach into the book and smack the hell out of his goofy ass.
Again, that fact that I can't stand the main characters but finished the book speaks that much about Laveen's ability to build a story worth reading.
3.5 STARS. The book was good but there were some things that didn't work me for. The monologue were too damn long. They talked more in their head than to each other. It didn't work for me that one minute he's this big bad assassin who doesn't care about anybody, but yet one look at her and he ready to tell allllll his business. I love a good sex scene as much as the next girl but the constant marathon sex felt empty for some reason. Savage just didn't do it for me. Overall book was good, but I skipped a lot of the internal conversations because it was way to long.
I have been wanting and waiting to read this book forever just never quite had the time until now. For some reason I thought the person leaving threatening messages for Eva was going to be a complete psycho. He was soft as hell!!!! Also Daddy Savage is something else! He was well behaved the entire book until he actually met Eva and then his behind let loose the crazy! He was by far my favorite character. It would be nice to know if Austin and Longhorn ever became friends again.
I can't seem to get enough of this book! I didn't know all of the music references, but I will look them up and sample a listen. I sometimes replaced words that appeared to be spell checked incorrectly, but that did not occur enough to distract me from the story as sometimes happens with kindle books. The action and dialogue moves fast and the sex scenes are hot, hot, hot! I recommend this book to all who fantasize about capturing the heart of a dangerous, hot male.
Now normally,, I am a fast reader it took me 3 days to read this book. I thought that Tyrant was my favorite so far but I absolutely loved this book I read it twice. Savage was just that as real and as raw as you could get . He made me question my own self and whether I was living up to my full potential I've never had a book make me question myself like that .I work in the mental health field and Eva mother reminded me of some of my patients and family members and their day to day struggles thank you for this truly great work of art
