Operation Sex Kitten

Rate this book
Ava Ericson thought she had her life planned out: graduate with her PhD, marry Brad Miller when he finished law school, have 2.5 babies…and mediocre sex for the rest of her days. But when Brad dumps her upon learning he’s passed the bar, citing new “opportunities” available, she has to rethink her future. Believing her lack of experience was the reason Brad broke up with her, she launches Operation Sex Kitten (OSK), a plan to become a vixen in bed and get Brad back. Things might go astray when she meets the notorious attorney, Travis Sterling, the bachelor who she is sure can teach her a thing or two in the bedroom. As she enjoys putting OSK theories into practice, she realizes the real ‘operation’ will be for the two not to fall in love. Fun and romantic, Operation Sex Kitten turns up the heat with explicit scenes while you root for love to conquer all.

USA Today and Amazon best-selling author, Tess Summers is a former business woman and teacher who always loved writing but never seemed to have time to sit down and write a short story, let alone a novel. Now battling MS, her life changed dramatically, and she has finally slowed down enough to start writing all the stories she'd been wanting to tell, including the fun and sexy ones! Married over twenty-five years with three grown children, Tess is a former dog foster mom who ended up failing and adopting them instead. She and her husband (and their six dogs) split their time between the desert of Arizona and the lakes of Michigan, so she's always in a climate that's not too hot and not too cold, but just right!

TW he sleeps with ow during their separation, while she is celibate and pregnant.

What did I just read? This book was a complete mess. From start to finish it was a nonsensical, busy, wordy, and badly planned.
The heroine was a PhD organic chemist and also a real estate agent, because reasons. There was absolutely no reason to make her a PhD except to illustrate that she was supposed to be intelligent, except she was so so so stupid. Her inner monologue moments made me want to gnash my teeth and pull out my hair.
The hero, what a stupid asshole, why write someone so terrible and conceited and awful? His only redeeming quality was that he was rich, which was illustrated to extremes in three pages describing his many cars, house etc etc etc. Wow he tipped servers well and gave to charity a lot. Great. But he was a cheater and an asshole so...
This book just wasn’t good. At all. Can you give something a negative star rating? Too bad.
The premise was so stupid too, she was going to learn to be better at sex to get her cheating boyfriend back, after over a year apart? Can you be a more pathetic person? Just no,no,no. I need a time machine to go back to when I hadn’t read this book.

During the first 20% of this book,i groaned loudly. With boredom. In my mind, this book is just a lot of sex and no plot/ twist. Then when i was cleaning my house, i keep listen to it. And boy, i was surprise that i end up liking this book very much.

This is a story of 2 person who attracted to each other but they hide behind their pride and ego to admit it. It sound cliche. However the author potrays Travis as a workaholic character. So the issue between Travis and Eva is actually Travis work schedule. Even though i do expect something like ex girlfriend or something, i ends up liking the author portrays this. It makes Travis sound real.

There is a lot of sex scenes. Some of it hot some of it cold. Nevertheless it helps making this book interesting.

Overall i do enjoy this book very much.

One of the worst novel I’ve read. Beware may contain major spoilers.

The H was such a sweet guy in the beginning of the story but somewhere around half of the novel or before it this hero did a complete 180 and became the biggest jerk, douche, asshole, bastard, you get my drift. He had no reason to behave like except his ego. I really hated him.

Heroine had every reason to hide her pregnancy because of H’s behavior and his threats. He should have groveled a lot but he hardly did. Fo some fucked up reason he blames her and she apologizes.

The strong h also did a 180 and became a weak pathetic doormat who forgave him in a second. Just like that. She should have gone for the other guy. Need the reason. Ok here it is

During 90 or 95 % of the novel the have sex for the first time after their breakup which lasted a few month not years mind you and this older mature (queue in sarcasm) say he needs condom and “I am sorry “ which means he was with others during their separation which like I said was for a few months and hero was all this time still pinning or in love or still wanted the h and the h was a celibate ( no surprise there ). But what made me angry as hell was her reply “ it’s ok”. yep that’s it. No questions, no explanations, no apologies nothing except for hero’s momentary regret. He should have begged for her forgiveness she should have been pissed fo more than a second or at least to bring them on equal grounds heroine should have had sex with the OM at least more than once before she came to know about her pregnancy.

Nobody warned me about cheating or else I’d never have gone for it. H was an unredeemable douche and heroine became not only weak but also a cry baby during the end.

I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Don’t waste your time or money on this one.

MEH. The story and characters are blandly beige and I started off wanting to slap the female lead. It tries to straddle the faux feminist narrative that many books are pushing. Honestly, I finished it out of spite. I was ready to put it down at maybe 30%, I can't remember. This is kind of like an updated Mills and Boons novel. I also got really annoyed when they forced that part about Travis having had sexual intercourse with someone else at the end. Not only was it not necessary, it would have been better served and addressed earlier. It's not really a plot point if it doesn't serve the plot. It just ended up being another sexist trope that further abuses these poor fictional women. Ultimately we got: a virginal trope, a girl next door trope, a treat her bad because love trope, a pregnancy trope, a he's a good boy trope, a he's just a virile sexual beast so ofc he can't keep it in his pants while you could trope, an it's all good once he asks you to marry him trope etc..etc...etc...

It was good and then there was the over-the-top ending dragging it down. It does leave me intrigues as to how the other books are handled.

Idk if this book even deserves that second star because of how much I struggled to finish this lmao. The latter 60% of this book just got progressively worse as Travis became even shittier every time he opened his mouth or had a thought, idk. He’s supposed to be a forty year old man, but he’s so fucking immature and petty and terrible lol. Ava deserved better (but she is indeed a doormat…). I don’t get what she sees in the dude bc he treated her like shit once he got scared of his feelings for her and his reluctance to give up his bachelorhood 🙄. I wanted to DNF this book so many times, but I had to see how bad it got or something.

All the characters were annoying me by the end, and the pacing of the second half was so odd. The last third of the book felt way too long. Everything was a mess, and there was so much unnecessary drama, yet the biggest issues were glossed over; bam, suddenly Travis is forgiven, Ava’s parents NEVER saw him as having done anything wrong, Steven’s the only one that was reluctant at first bc of what he’d heard about Ava (and he was the only rational one here!!!) but then oh one dinner later and he’s fine with Travis and best buddies now???, Travis doesn’t realize the extent of the problematic shit he did and said, and they get married. There are also some lines that I side eyed that are slut-shame-y that I didn’t like, and the overall attitudes of all the men in this book (minus Steven) are so misogynistic/patriarchal it irks me. Like Travis and the general both just order Ava to do things/give them her number or whatever and Ava just accepts it??? Idfk. I wish I could un-read this book though lmao.

Ava Ericson launches Operation Sex Kitten (OSK) in a desperate attempt to win back her only love, Brad Miller, she doesn't know what is in store. Ava believes it is her lack of sexual experience that drove Brad away & OSK is her way to gain experience & win him back. She decides she needs to learn more & become a 'vixen' in the bedroom. Enter Travis Sterling, one of San Diego's most eligible bachelors. Ava jumps in head first thinking she will use Travis for a one-stand but their shared attraction to one another turns into a full blown affair. As they ride an emotional roller coaster of not wanting to become attached but knowing they are both feeling far more than a casual attachment they work hard to remind themselves it is 'temporary'. When Ava finally breaks away & discovers she has news that Travis has a right to hear, she cannot decide what to do. Will she tell him? Will she hid like she wants to? Will they ever be able to work out how they feel about each other?

This was a delightful read. Older man falls for a younger woman story that worked for me. The story telling is good & the characters are solid. It is a stand alone in a series. This books is meant for mature reads! Lots of steamy sex going on in this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes the genre.

I was asked to read and review, Travis is an eligible Batchelor, and a top rate attorney. he is use to getting what he wants. Ava is the daughter of his colleague and friend. so sleeping with her 90 minutes after meeting her may not go over so well. Both are scared to commit and cause undo problems and a lot if back and forth misunderstandings. but rest assured all is well in the end.

Sweet and hot all at once

First time reading anything from this author and I'm hooked!!

Travis and Ava have the sweetest and most screwed up love story there ever possibly was, and he is definitely a complete jerk at times. However the way feeling and emotions that they share you can actually feel while reading.

I can honestly say that my favorites characters however were most definitely Fred and Ginger...and I swear I bawled over the car incident.

The author brings in such realistic problems and emotions that the characters become so much more relatable and the story becomes so much more enjoyable to read.

Travis' unfailing love for Ava is almost heartbreaking, yet at the same time infuriating because he is such a guy!! Ava's inexperience with relationships is cute but ultimately it nearly destroys everything with Travis. Both are complete idiots about relationships!!

But man are the explosive when they touch each other!!! Surely made my temperature rise...lol!!!

Really enjoyed this story and I really can't wait to read the next one.

New to me author this book is giving me whiplash with the mood changes, not sure if it is supposed to be erotica disguised as romcom or visa vera?

Ava was dumped a year ago by her ex who she dated for 2 yrs. She believes it is because she was a virgin/bad in bed/and not sophisticated. She makes a plan to become a siren that is irresistible to show him and get him back. WHY?? There are more fish in the sea why want him back? I digress...

Starting out as a meet cute Ava called out from her condo by noise complaint from neighbor. Travis is hot older jerk lawyer who comes to pick up his nephew from the wild party Ava's little sister gave while the parents are away. He takes nephew home and then comes back to help her clean up and SLEEPS WITH HER first night they meet?

This is definitely where things get weird for me as we have a bipolar book one half cute romcom with inexperienced young woman. She has only slept with one guy, her ex and then full on 20 shades with Travis who is over 10yrs older than her. She is in her 20's he is 40? So much sex - this could be a how to manual which is kind of icky at times. I would have been happier if some of this went closed door as I was thirsting for STORY, PLOT and had to wade through so much sex, stiptease, porn moves... I just wanted the story, to get to know the characters not just their sexcapades, sigh.

Anyway I do get more story about 70% and there are so many tropes thrown in here not sure if the author missed any? Everything magically came together by the end and there is a HEA however for me not worth the journey.

This started as a very fun novel in the Steamy Romance genre. I came close to not finishing (1) because the male MC became an arrogant ass which was passed off as being “manly”, and (2) because the female MC started to tiptoe around him with lines like:

“His eyes were kind and tender, and she suddenly wanted to make him happy.”

And he has the audacity to ask her:

“Please humor my male ego and allow me to do this. Please.”

He’s such a tough and honourable guy that he thinks:

“seemed like the hardest thing he had done in a while. Second only to not dialing her number every time he had picked up his phone to call her over the last few months.”

To say his stereotype of a character was off-putting is an understatement.

After all that, he wants to name their baby:

“Alexander Steven Sterling has a much better ring to it,” he declared.”

That it gives the boy the initials “ASS” isn’t commented on. It gave me a near final laugh.

So a lot of fun, steamy reading with a jerk for a male MC. 4 Stars, but be prepared to grit your teeth over about a third of the story.

Operation Sex Kitten is the first book I have read by Tess Summers and I have to say, it was quite the introduction to her storytelling skills. Yes, the title has sex kitten in it. Yes, the blurb talks about how Ava is going to try to get her ex back by gaining more experience via, OSK. Did that mean I was prepared for the level of hotness in this book, not at all.
Tess does put a tremendous amount of scenes in this book that let the reader know, without question, that Ava truly is in the throes of being a sex kitten. But where does it all start?
Ava had her life all figured out, she was going to marry her boyfriend, finish school, and have a career and 2.5 kids. Life was going to be comfortable and predictable. Unfortunately, Ava’s life plan gets thrown out the window when her boyfriend, Brad, dumps her after finishing law school.
Ava, with some encouragement from her best friend, decides the best way to get Brad back is to get more life experience via Operation Sex Kitten. When she is called to her parents’ home because her sister Gracie has thrown a major party, Ava meets the man that sends her headlong into OSK. Travis Sterling comes to the house to pick up his nephew who has had way too much to drink. One thing leads to another and Travis goes from being an annoyance to Ava’s deepest desire. They quickly become involved in an extremely heated relationship but there is more to the relationship than the heat, feelings develop between the two.
Like any good story, Ava and Travis cannot simply just be happy together. They have obstacles thrown in their path that threaten to break them apart. Will Ava and Travis end up together? Did they just have a purely physical relationship? Will Ava end up with another man that shows a keen interest in her? I could spoil the surprise for you but I think it would be better if you read this hot book on your own. If you are anything like me you will get so wrapped up on the book you will finish it in less than 24 hours!

The first half was very DNF worthy. Ava grind my nerves talking bout she doing all that to win back some no good boy that dumped her. I struggled along even though I wanted to quit it, there were a lot of sex! A whole lot and you hear them soo much after a while u zone out a few. The female narrator’s voice ranged from too excited to too much extasy. Anyways the second half everything hit the fan and I became interested and then both MC just annoyed me. For someone who claims they are smart Ava makes some really sh*tty plans and dnt really use her head. Plus the whole naive good girl thing is so played out. The H was all nice in the beginning that BAM he’s an ahole all of a sudden. He also slept with someone during their break but can’t really blame him I guess since he thought she moved on with someone else. All in all if you can struggle through the first couple chapters the story gets better but it’s pretty predictable.

Amazing debut for Tess Summers! She knows how to write characters that are believable and the sex scenes??!! Smoking Hot!!

Ava has recently been dumped by the love of her life, Brad. She is determined that he is the one for her and she has a plan to get him back. Operation Sex Kitten. She wants to learn to be sexier in the bedroom and to please her man. Now all she needs is to get out there and test her skills.

Enter Travis Sterling. Sexy, intelligent, successful, and one of San Diego's most eligible bachelors.

What starts out as a one night stand quickly turns into a emotional ride for them both. Will they be able to fight the attraction or will they get their HEA? You'll have to read it to find out!!

I truly enjoyed this story and I can't wait to see what Tess has in store for us next.

This book is a fun and easy read! The characters are believable, unlike many romance/erotica books where the people could never exist in any real way. For example, there's a scene where the couple enjoy an Oreo pie together like a true couple would do. I liked how the events in the storyline could happen to myself or any other couple I know. It added realism and I could relate to the characters better.

Now, to the parts that put this book into the erotica category...

All I can say is wow! I don't want to give anything away so you'll have to read it for yourself.

Grab your gloves this book is hot and steamy. I really enjoyed this book a lot more then a lot of erotic books. Some are all just sex and the story line if there is one takes a back seat. This one actually has a storyline and the sex is in the back seat.
The character's in the book are believable. They have feelings, thoughts and emotions just like you at I would. I love how the book brings romance instead of just wild sex. The book moves along at a great pace it did not drag for me or go to fast. I will be looking for more books by Tess Summers.

This had some hilarious parts. I loved the party! It was too funny with the 'hostages' and the like. When Travis lends a hand (and some cleaners), he is just too sweet. Brad who? He was a pig anyway. OSK was a pretty unique idea. She had her aim in all the wrong places, but things worked out well.

This was one of those books that are so easy to read, but so hard to out down. I found myself still awake around 1am, unable to quit. The heat level was off the charts and Travis was very attentive. Operation Sex Kitten is my first book by Tess Summers and it won't be my last. Really enjoyed reading Ava and Travis' story through the end. Ava's naivete and awkwardness with their banter made me laughing my ass off; their drama and angst pulled at my heartstrings, and their sexy had me getting some much needed cold showers.

Ava Ericson had just been dumped by her ass of a boyfriend of two years. Being inexperienced and naive, she blames herself for not being able to keep Brad interested.
And that is how Operation Sex Kitten got started. Ava decided she would use her newfound sexuality to win him back and show him she was sophisticated and sexual.

It starts with one bold move to the hot attorney who lives around the corner from her parents house.
“Well now,” she took a big drink and swallowed hard, “now, I find you sexy.”
Travis Sterling is the ultimate bachelor and commitmentphobe. He's rich, sexy and doesn't hear the word no too often. But that quickly changes the more time he spends with Ava.

Both of these characters have amazing chemistry and seriously hot sex. What starts as just some fun between adults, they start to hit some bumps along the way when things start to get complicated. The twists in their story had me hooked and wanting more.

Operation Sex Kitten is a standalone with its own HEA but still book #1 of the San Diego Social Scene series. It is told in 3rd person POV, so you get sides from different characters. One of the characters, Ron Thompson, is the hot marine general who I can't wait to read about in Book 2!

One of the things I love about reading is learning about new authors. To me, it never gets old! I was checking out an online event when I learned about Tess’ book. She told us a bit about it and I checked it out online. It intrigued me from the blurb alone and I snagged up this gem as fast as I could!

Ava wants what most woman do: education, love, marriage and babies. It’s a good dream to have, except when you don’t have a willing partner to help you get there. No, instead Ava is left to wonder what the heck was wrong with her thanks to the ever charming (so much sarcasm here, can you hear it?) Brad. I mean he’s such a thrilling prospect as far as husbands/lovers go right? (sarcasm is getting deep!) in the days following him breaking it off he thinks hard about how she can make things different with him. Does she make the sex hotter? What about giving into his needs more, across the board? Did she support him enough? Thanks to an always loving and attentive friend, Ava’s eyes are brought open wider than ever! Sex toys, reading about erotica, many moments of online searching for answers leads her to one final decision.

Operation Sex Kitten will commence! Ava sets out determined to meet someone that can teach her all about how to become sexier and more confident in her capabilities. In her original thought, if she can have a steamy affair AND reach the best big “O” of her life she might just win Brad back!

Before she can find any prospects for OSK, one walks through her door, literally! Their chance meeting heats up and spins into something completely unexpected. In a very short moment of time part of her goals have been met and thanks to a man who thought she was contributing to the hi-jinks of a few interesting characters and their friends. Who would have thought?

Travis wants what most bachelors do: to have a solid career, plenty of hot sex, good friends and no strings attached. It’s a good dream to have and a great goal if that’s what you want. But what if it’s not? What if what you want is something you’re not willing to admit? What if just once you were willing to throw your own rules out the door to have the best time of your life and then some? Travis is mixed up in all of those questions and emotions once he meets Ava and is truly enchanted by her. She’s hot, witty, incredibly smart, talented, sweet, thoughtful, sexy and of gorgeous.

What started out as a way to win back an ex, and her inner Sex Kitten has turned quickly! Now Ava has found her, she’s realizing that Brad doesn’t deserve her. Instead OSK is all about her! Go Ava, Go Ava! It’s your party Ava! She’s also managed to mix up Travis as he tries to figure his feelings and where all of this goes. Can they make it work? Who will end up mucking it up more? Who will walk in and out attempting to stir the proverbial pot of doubt? In the end, who wins and who loses?

Along their journey of self realization, indulgence, emotional turmoil and devastation many characters walk with them. Both new ones, old ones, and supporting ones. It’s interesting to see how their journey will bring them to where they truly want to be. Because when it comes to love, we all want a happily ever after.

Creative adoration (positives): I FREAKING LOVED THEM! Ava and Travis are very much just like the rest of us. Folk who look to be happy but have a whole lot of mess to maneuver around at some point. Tess has developed a set of characters (both main and supporting) that are real, relatable, endearing, and intriguing. I swear I yelled at my kindle (Poor Petunia!), cried my eyeballs out, laughed hysterically and had a few “awwwwwww!” moments. Oh and don’t forget the hot flashes! Holy granola on a gondola man! I loved that Tess was able to successfully spin their love story in a way than allowed for not only plenty of sexy time, but it wasn’t overdone in my opinion.

Creative indifference (negatives): I can’t say there was any really off moments or negatives for me. Although, can I go find Brad and you know, perhaps let my foot slip to tap some sensitive parts?

Creative appraisal (overall): This book is hot, hilarious, entertaining and truly awesome. One of the things that has me loving the book more is the time Tess took out of her day to talk to me about my thoughts on the book and answer questions. I love talking books! I have so much more respect for what so many creative souls do. Thanks Tess for wonderful read! Oh and if you don’t mind, can we have Ron’s story now? I’ll behave, I promise!

My star rating: 5 sizzling hot stars!
