Martha has only ever wanted to be the leader of her alma mater, one of the most prestigious prep schools in the nation. So when a powerful family threatens to dismantle her life's work and everything the school stands for, she's not going to take it lying down. Unfortunately, someone from her past has shown up suddenly, complicating everything and clouding her judgment.
Miles has never stopped carrying a torch for his high school crush, who also happened to be his debate coach and English teacher-turned headmistress of Greenbridge Academy. Now a hot shot lawyer, he's called on to represent the family that's out to destroy her. Will he risk his career to make sure his own client's case fails before it even starts?
Eyes on your own work, class! This older woman/younger man age gap romance will leave you with more than a little bit of chalk dust on your ass. This is part four of a series, but is a stand-alone romance. No cliffhangers, no cheating, guaranteed happily ever after.
This book contains graphic sexual content and is meant for adults 18 and up.
This was marked as dual virgins but the hero is halfway portrayed as a virgin, halfway experienced. It was never outright stated if he was a virgin or not. When they had sex for the first time, the heroine noticed he had ‘skill’ when un doing her bra and was turned on knowing that he had more experience then her. I was not a fan of that.
Its usually harder to find books like these where both of the characters are inexperienced and older, and I absolutely loved it!
-Virgin h & I think Virgin H -Student/teacher -Older woman(??)/ younger man (26) -8 year separation
Spoiler free Summary-
heroine(Martha) was the Hero’s (Miles) debate teacher when he was 18, they had a one time fling– no sex, in the back of her car. Then they both went their separate ways. Fast forward 8 years later, she is the head mistress and ends up getting sued, and he is the lawyer going against her case.
Another great read by Abby Knox! Not gonna lie, I wasn't sure about the female being older than the male age Gap, but it honestly works so well in this read. Loved it.
I'm torn on how I should rate this story. The overall love building between Martha and Miles is excellent! I loved that although Miles made Martha feel things while she was his teacher she never let their relationship progress further than the teacher-student, even when Miles kept pushing and tempting her. 8 years later, Miles comes back into Martha's life, but it's not on good terms. He's there to represent the family that is determined to kick Martha to the curb and have someone else has head of the Academy.
But I feel like this story feel down on the lack of details to help the readers place the events of this story as well as understanding reasoning behind characters actions. For instance I assumed this story takes place in the timeline before the other three in this series (since the female swim coach is mentioned and Miles isn't working for Rushmore). I also would've liked to know why the Chamberlain's were so determined to get Headmistress Moody booted from her position. They apparently tried in the 80's I believe and didn't succeed. So I can only assume this newest battle is in the name of revenge, but why did they try so hard when Martha's aunt was headmistress? There's no mention of any of Miles' history, so I assume he's also a virgin still like Martha is? But I would've liked to have seen how he came to work for Rushmore. Like, did he get the job because he went against the Chamberlain's and tried to help Headmistress Moody?
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this title**
I'm not much for OW/YM, but I really liked Abby Knox's Headmistress. You could tell this couple was made for each other. Such a sexy heartwarming little novella to read. I read an advanced copy of this book.
This fourth book in the Greenbridge Academy series was EVERYTHING I wanted and so much more! Abby did an awesome job of turning some well-established tropes on their heads, pun intended, and I loved every single second of it! The story is about Martha, and a former pupil, Miles, and all that happened in between as time went by. Martha is a strong, independent, virgin, of a woman that knows there are lines, respects the lines, toes the line, even when it goes against everything that she wants, and a one-night lapse only reminded her of that, no matter how spectacular it was. Miles has always had a thing for teacher, and it didn’t go away even after he’d graduated. Something about her in that not-intentionally-sexy librarian-esque outfit with witchy shoes just did it for him, and her skirt, well, that skirt has its own role in the story! Martha finds herself in legal trouble, and Miles ends up being opposing counsel, leaving them in a bit of a pickle. Having met and bonded through debate club, leaving an argument only half-cocked wouldn’t work for either of them, even with love on the line. I adored how much they cared for another, and the lengths they’d go to showcase, and protect that. From snippets of the past to memories in the making, Headmistress delivered once again in this school-setting world, with honorary mentions to previous characters. And, can I just state fo the record, I NEED Katie and Dean’s story, please and thank you! This story was sweet, shmekshay, just a little bit dirty, and simply wonderful, with a delicious hint of power exchange here and there, just to spice things up! Who doesn’t love a woman with authority, but that kind of authority that is your special brand, and a man with a voice whose deep timber just vibrates right through you? Words are powerful, and that gets touched on in this story, highlighting how everyone deserves love with that special someone that is just right for them! (But seriously, more Katie and Dean, please?)
Wow, Headmistress was such an awesome surprise! I have only read one or two books like this where the older woman is pursued by the younger man and she was his teacher and he the student. Abby Knox's version took that scenario and flipped it just a smidgen. Martha first met Miles when he tried out for debate, which she was in charge of. She was the only female that got his attention. The minute he turned eighteen, he tried to show her how he felt. He knew she felt something for him too, she just couldn't act upon it. She had to push him away if she didn't want her career ruined. Now it is eight years later and Martha is embroiled in a situation and that is how Miles comes back into her life. These two are seriously, no doubt about it, meant for each other. How everything played out, fell into place and cleared the path for them to be together was perfection. I flew through this one, not able to put it down for a minute! 10 stars for Headmistress!
Abby Knox has done it once again. ‘Headmistress’ Book 4 of the Greenbridge Academy Series is fantastic. In this book we get to experience one of my absolute favorite romance tropes with a twist. This is reverse age gap with a side of second chance goodness from start to finish. In this book we get to know Martha Moody - strong, sexy and devoted to her school. Eight years ago she fell for one of her debate team students, a determined 18 year old who was head over heels in love with her. Unfortunately not able to get passed him being her student, the relationship ends after one scorching kiss. Fast forward eight years, Miles is all grownup, a sexy lawyer tasked with suing her. Unable to get over his need for her, Miles is willing to lose everything to be with her. Their happily ever after is oh so sweet and makes this book a tie for my favorite in this series along with Grumpy Dad. Add this book to your TBR list, you won’t regret it.
A wonderful balance between steamy and sweet, this story of a older woman and a younger man was well written and a good read. I liked the dynamics between the couple and how much they really cared about each other. I liked the way the story was presented, met, apart back together because it really helped me believe not only their passions for each other but the "realistic" way in a headmaster could fall for her student. The author did a great job of balancing the romance with the buildup of the relationship. I would have liked a bit more details in regards to the overall background of the world the story takes place in. I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review. 3.75 stars.
I am generally not a fan of older woman/younger man books, but I like the author and this series, so I read this one, too. The age difference didn't bother me, but I didn't like the characters. There was too much political type crap and stereotyping in the book. It was offensive. I don't get easily offended, and I'm not big on being PC, but I also have trouble liking a book when characters, even the wrong and dislikable ones, are stereotyped. If one group of people shouldn't be stereotyped, then none of them should be. To do so is hypocritical. I realize this is a romance, but the rest ruined it for me.
Wow another great story in this series. Wasn't really sure about the age gap (not my thing normally) but it was just great. Loved how Miles was still so in love with his crush. Martha was such a headstrong woman, but in his arms so putty. I hope there will be more books about the Greenbridge academy.
OMG Martha and miles story blew me a way first off usually I don’t go for older Bossy women, and younger men, and the dynamics was hard to get into but they sucked me in, and there love affair was hot no matter who was in charge. The 4 th book in the series started out slow but an overall great read. I still love me an Alpha Older man though.
Steamy! I loved the instant connection that we felt between the Martha and Miles. This book has an older woman younger man and unrequited Love trope. This is a fun, sexy quick read and I think you will love it!
Such a fun addition to the series! Martha and Miles’ story was sweet, steamy and a good quick read. I loved all of the playfulness between the two characters and their chemistry was fantastic. I received this book as an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Fantastic older woman/younger man romance novella! Especially loved their backstory. Sexy, fast-paced, and emotionally layered. Absolutely recommended.
I enjoyed Headmistress a lot more than Grumpy Dad and I'm so relieved! I love that it was age gap with the heroine being older and I thought the dilemma/plot was novel and I enjoyed reading how the whole thing played out. I'm recommitted to reading this whole series (especially Swim Coach) and look forward to whatever she comes up with next.
