A Friendly Wager

Rate this book
When I told my friend Will that I was done with dating, he looked at me like I’d decided to give up oxygen.

I’m not the first college princess to swear off kissing frogs, and just because we have a biology lab together doesn’t mean that he’s an expert on the birds and the bees, except… he’s given me a challenge—a friendly wager, so to speak.

A thousand bucks is on the line, and all I have to do is prove that he doesn’t affect me. It’ll be the easiest money I’ll make all semester.

Only, I didn't count on how hard it would be to resist his panty-dropping smirk, dirty promises, and the way he gets inside my head. Giving up oxygen might be easier.

We’re both playing to win, but at what cost?

Holy Hot Balls!

This was a total sex book with like, one other character. Two friends. She thinks she's bad in bed because she never orgasmed with a guy. And is basically very inexperienced and lacking self-esteem.
Dude, of course, wants to broaden her horizons...wink wink. However, the friendship must remain just that. Friends with benefits.

Thus starts a fuck fest of epic proportions for two 21-year-old college students. I mean, some of this stuff had me blushing and thinking back on my 20's like 'Where were guys like this back then?'

I digress

As the heroine's inhibitions fall away hero starts to seek her out more and more, feelings get confused. Thus begins the back and forth of doubt and desire and messy shit.

For me, the hero was a bit too self-righteous. Like he was some sort of sex guru at his age because he was a med student. I also found that the things he said to the heroine were often condescending. heroine forgives him way too often and seems a bit mindless as to what she feels for him. But more so, throughout her journey of self-discovery, there never seems to come a time where she's fully empowered. Even though there are times when she tries, he always has a way of getting the upper hand. Dunno, that dynamic was confusing for me.

All in all, it's cute and clever highly sexual read with very little romance until the very end. No major angst or anything. To put it simply and bluntly, it's about two people fucking as much as possible until they finally figure out they want to make a go of it.

Seems to me like dude was putting her through a really long audition process. But hey, that's just my opinion.

As a female, I am offended.

Can a heroine be more “innocent”/ clueless.
Apparently she has never been aroused before, although she had sex before. She tells hero that she is frigid or asexual and he makes it his mission to prove her from. His first pass at his attempt to prove her wrong GUESS WHAT? The heroine gets aroused. WOW! So simple huh.

The heroine is so confused that she thinks the arousal is food poisoning.

Yup, you read that right. Food Poisoning.

That’s when I said adios.

*SPOILERS*
I really wanted to give this book 4 stars but after the Will and Cassie were off again for the third time in the book, I had to knock of a star. I really liked both of them, Will was so hot and had such a dirty mouth he was making me blush. His imagination in the bedroom was insane and he was such a nice guy too. Cassie was so naive and innocent to begin with but not for long after Will got hold of her! However, the are together or aren't they together got a bit boring and annoying after the third time of it happening, I just wanted them to get together and for us to see them have more time as a real couple but by the time that happens it was the end of the book! It was so frustrating, I just wanted the book to end which was a shame because I really liked the characters themselves, so for that reason I knocked off a star.

The story looked like light reading with a bit of heat so decided to give it a whirl. When I read how the author had redone the story a few times and how this couple resonated with her I was even more intrigued.

The sweetness of both Cassie and Will drew me in. Cassie’s vulnerability came through and Will’s chivalrous side mixed with secret lust had me devouring the pages in the beginning.

I will state one of my petty peeves is when an author has the female lead refer to herself in derogatory terms when it comes to her sexuality. The guys get a pass and can have all kinds of lust filled thoughts or actions and the woman gets to put herself down with demeaning names.

I excused Cassie’s first trip down that lane as having a hard time dealing with some of the things she was discovering about herself sexually. When she kept doing it I went from being immersed in the story to now just being on the periphery. Couple that with the hot and cold by both of them I just lost interest in the out come. You can only take so many times of them giving each other the cold shoulder then back to hot and heavy so much before you just are no longer invested. So while the premise was good and it was good to get both POV’s it was just too much angst for me to enjoy the story the way I was hoping.

The plotline was a tad obvious, but no less cute. Kaye tests the boundaries of friendship and love with a passion as addictive as her characters. Will and Cassie are contagiously charming, frustratingly predictable and so hard not to love. A Friendly Wager is an enchanting friends to lovers tale.

Five Sizzling Stars! A Friendly Wager was a Great feel-good read! It was extremely Sexy, with little to no angst. Just Red hot passion and lots of frustration! Will and Cassie are easy to love, their friendship is something uniquely special and their connection is so explosive! Cassie shares his problem with Will and neither of them is prepared for where it takes them. Kaye lights a fire like nothing I've experienced before! from the first few chapters, it burns hotter than the sun and it only gets hotter! Cassie is beautifully innocent and she is unsure of the deal she's made with Will, not quite expecting him to ignite her blood the way he has. Gah! I screamed at these two soooooooo much! Communicate! She is so stubborn and Will too sweet to push. The actual words between these two always come out wrong! I wanted to slap them and stick them both in the corner! Will awakes all Cassies's desires and he will have you swooning into the night! Perfect Man that Will, I would love to lock him away in a cabin for a weekend! This was my first book by Kaye, and I'm so happy to have found her! If you looking for a sweet, fun and Passionate read this is your book! I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Will and Cassie are friends, and have never crossed the line towards anything romantic or steamy, but that is all about to change. Cassie has just informed Will that she has given up on dating, after having a very unfulfilling relationship. He can't stand to see her give up so easily and has the perfect plan to change her mind. He issues her a bet of sorts... one that involves a lot of wooing, sexy smirks, smoldering passion, and heated glances.

A Friendly Wager is a sexy little page-turner that does not disappoint... it's steamy words will have your blushing throughout. What started as an innocent little, strings-free bet, quickly becomes something else all together when unexpected feelings come into play. I loved watching these two test the limits of their friendship and try to avoid falling, their story kept me captivated from beginning to end. Once my eyes found the words, I just couldn't stop. If you like feel-good steamy romances you will love this one, it's addictive words and wonderful characters are certain to keep you entertained and swimming in swoons! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

This was such a cute book with fun characters who despite the friendship they have make a relationship work. Will and Cassie are friends but things change when Cassie says"I think I hate sex."Will makes it his mission to prove her wrong. He wants to make her feel good and wants to make sure she knows what she likes and doesn't like. He shows her that she does have a voice and if she wants him to do something, she needs to either take charge or tell him about it to make it happen. Yes they have their issues and despite what I thought they had a strong communication between them but I was wrong. These two would do things and then the awkwardness would happen soon after. These two despite the amazing chemistry in and out of the bedroom they had, they still had stupid fights. It drove me crazy but I had to realize they were young and still figuring things out between them. They didn't want to ruin their friendship but at the same time couldn't stop the attraction they had towards each other. I really liked Cassie and Will. It was obvious they wanted the best for each other and supported each other a 100%.

That was HOT! One hell of a steamy read. From strangers to lab partners to friends and then to......lovers. It was extremely SEXY, with little to no angst. I love “friends to lovers”, romances are one of my favorite. The connection between Will and Cassie was strong from the begging. They clicked. Will and Cassie are friends but things change when Cassie says"I think I hate sex.”, she added that she is probably too frigid to like it. And what a good friend like Will do about it? They had chemistry, then why not use it. Will suggest to help Cassie with her “little issue”, and to make her feel things she never felt before. There was a moment when both of them thought they made a mistake and were scared this mistake will destroy their friendship. A Friendly Wager by Nikki Kaye is about two best friends falling in love. A little game changed everything between them. And in the end Will, will be paying her a lot of money, shall the game begin?

Two friends test the boundaries of their relationship when a flirty wager turns into steamy sexual exploration.

When college-student Cassie thinks her failure to experience pleasure in bed stems from her own personal shortcomings, close friend and clever opportunist, Will, wages that he can debunk her theories with a little one-on-one action. But can their friendship survive along the way of their lust-filled exploits? Silly and light-hearted and oh so steamy, this book will surely satisfy those looking for some nonstop raunchy shenanigans. This book is thin on plot but that's okay because it's not the point. The banter between the two is cute and humorous and fills in the gaps well between their naughty escapades. The passionate scenes between the two are convincing and sexy and expertly written! Definitely a must-read for lovers of the genre!

A friendly Wager by Nikky Kaye is about two best friends faking for one another.
I loved these characters banter, & the steam was off the charts!

Case &Will meet when they were assigned to each other to be lab partners.
&from then on out, they quickly became the best of friends.
But one day, while out, Caaba says to Will, “I think I hate sex”. & she remarks that she is probably too frigid to like it. Will doesn’t enjoy that she is talking about herself like that, so he offers up a bet. If he proves her wrong, and proves to her that she does not hate sex, and if she proves him wrong. He will be paying her a much larger sum of money.........
Let the games begin!

A friendly wager was a good read! I love best friends to lover’s romances, and this was a perfect example of that.
I recommend that you start reading this BOOK ASAP!

Will and Cassie were cute as a couple they start out as friends then it develops into something more after Cassie makes a confession about her romantic ahem life. But thata okay because Will hasn't been able to forget a certain Halloween Party with Cassie. There exploration of each other is at times sweet, hot and humourous. If they had spent a little less time exploring they mite have got to the knowledge of how they felt for one another sooner. But there definitely meet for each other. Will is sensitive and hot but he still has the insecurity of youth about him but he also knows what he wants Cassie. Cassie is infuriating at times but she eventually gets there with Will. I liked this book and would read others by the Author.

A sweet friend to lover’s romance with two twenty-one-year old college students. Cassandra/Cassie and Will met as lab partners and developed a special m/f friendship. One day Cassie confesses an embarrassing secret. Now all bets are off and Will will not stop till he proves Cassie is wrong about her assumption. Cassie's character was interesting in that she had all these hang-ups, insecurities and preconceived ideas that kept her from living life to the fullest. I thought that what she was going through was very realistic for a young woman who is naive in the ways of the world. Luckily Will had no such problems. He was super confident, sexy as sin, handsome devil and was just the man to get the job done. What Will thought was an opportunity to help his friend turned into so, so much more. A very sweet story.

It's nice to have a friend so generous and kind as Will who will selflessly help you out with a delicate a problem...a sex problem. Cassie's pretty lucky that he's so willing and able to assist her and is so very good at it as well. Just ask him, he'll tell you just how good he is! He's ready to put his money where his mouth is - in many different ways - to prove it.

This book is so hilarious! I love Nikky Kaye's "voice." Her sense of humor is great and it makes her characters great to read and root for. She can write cringe-worthy yet funny as hell awkward situations better than anyone!

Sweet story (w/plenty of heat)

The story of friends Will & Cassie is a sweet story (but yes, as the author says, it has plenty of heat) where they find themselves in love without even really realizing it! One evening at dinner, Cass blurts out that she thinks she’s frigid because she doesn’t like sex. She hasn’t “finished”, she said. Will then countered with a deal that he’ll pay Cass $1000 if he can give her an “o”. Otherwise, she can pay him $100 and get to say for as long as she wants, “I told you so!” The two of them are extremely sweet to each other, and it was a super cute and yummy story! I will keep it on my shelf for a reread now and again.

A sexy, fun read that really makes you think, what if? I'm sure we all have or have had that one person that we connect with but never thought of in that way until something is said or done to make you look at them differently. Of course maybe not all of us have a had the hot friend who offers to satisfy your every need to prove something, but that's beside the point. Loved the relationship from the beginning and was curious to see how they ended up knowing they would be perfect for each other. Sometimes a mistake can lead to a lot of fun and something unforgettably perfect. With a friend like this, who needs alcohol.

Torrid self-seeking
4,5
It is a romance very well written, torrid all along, while remaining romantic on both the passage of a friendship to lovers story, but especially on the self-discovery for the heroine.
Will is very attracted to her friend Cassie, but when she tells him that she thinks she is frigid, he offers to show her the opposite. The problem is that if Will knows he wants more with Cassie, the latter oscillates between a friendship with benefits and a real story.

Will & Cass are an excellent pair.
They start as lab partners, and gradually become friends before a wager sets a romance in motion.
Will can’t resist being the winner, and Cass wants the help.
Between sexcapades and miscommunications, they find balancing a friendship and sex is an unleveled teeter totter.
Their chemistry was definitely there.
This was a good read, although it did take me a bit to get fully immersed.

Cassie has not had the best of experiences with men so has decided to put that part of her life on hold however when she confides this information to her best friend Will it becomes a game changer. He is determined to show her that she has been dating the wrong man and that he can give her exactly what she needs. Let the games begin!

Heat and humor combine as two people test the boundaries of their friendship.

It made me smile and it made me wince at times because Cass and Will's relationship got its ups and downs in searching what they really felt and values in each other.
I liked that they started as friends and wanted to keep that even when the relationship changed and deepened and surprised both of them.
The story grabbed me from the very beginning and kept me interested to the very end.

Friends or maybe Something More

Entertaining novel about 2 students in college who are friends. Cassie has come to the conclusion she hates sex & confides in Will, her good friend. Will wagers she hasn't been with the right guy & he'll prove to her that she is wrong. Even though these 2 fluctuate from steamy hot to being cool towards each other, it's still a fun story to read.

I received this novel by Bookfunnel & this is my honest review.

Will and Cassie’s story was a roller coaster. Hot, hot, HOT and just the right amount of angst and miscommunication to make you want to wring each of their necks at some point in the story. Moments where I laughed out loud and gasped at the embarrassment in the story. This book makes you FEEEEEL. Very steamy, amazing chemistry but boy do they have to work for their happy ending! :)

This is Will and Cassie’s story. When they make a wager between them, will they be able to deny the chemistry between them and move on from friends / lovers? This is a well written story which is sweet, fun, entertaining, and is an engaging fast paced read, which had me hooked and intrigued throughout. I recommend this talented authors’ work for all.

A friends to lovers romance in which two friends make a wager. This is one of my favorite tropes and was really looking forward to this story. I found it a bit lacking in that the reader didn’t get a fair chance to connect with the characters before it was just a lot of sex. Cute story, just lacking a full connection

I'm not generally into young adult novels (being well out of that stage) but every so often one comes along that really grabs me. I had downloaded this book free on promotion, based on the description and really enjoyed it! The "friends to lovers" trope appeals to me, and I liked Nikky Kaye's writing style. The story, while quite erotic, was also at times humorous and also emotional.
