Chase Calloway’s career ending football injury gave him the out he needed.

Switching gears from being the star quarterback with a shot at the NFL to checking anal glands of furry senior patients wasn’t exactly the plan. However, it gave him the purrfect excuse to stop pursuing dreams that were never his.

Winnie Grey got exiled from her posh existence to the boondocks as pet-sitter extraordinaire.

It wasn’t her fault she stopped a shoplifter by pulling the fire alarm and got fired from her job. She can’t help that dog acupuncture makes her faint, but lucky for the city girl in exile, the town’s hottest veterinarian catches her, literally.

Book four in the Love By Design series of stand alone contemporary romantic comedies.

This was a good read. Winnie is pet sitting this summer. She ends up meeting Chase who is the veterinarian. They end up spending time together. Of course what was supposed to be just a summer turned out to be so much more.

Winnie Grey is the life of the party! Winnie enjoys all that life and her parent's money has to offer her... and boy does she enjoy it. With parents that are divorced and having their own war of the roses Winnie has been flying under the radar for a while living the high life. One day Winnie has pushed her boundaries too far and it has placed her center state in her mother's eyesight. The only thing is Winnie has no idea what it is she wants to do with her life and this concerns her family. To help Winnie gain some perspective her mother sends her to the wilderness, a quaint little town, to help her aunt and find purpose for her life. With the pitter patter of little feet can her little guardian angels show her the way???

Chase Calloway had a lot of dreams and playing football was not one of them. With a father who is a sports fiend and a football coach Chase did did not have much of a choice when it came to his future. Tragically an accident put an end to his father's football dreams gave Chase the out he needed to follow his passion. After a long day at work fate lends a hand and brings Chase and Winnie together in a way that has left long lasting effects on both of them to the point that neither of them will ever be the same. Will they take the leap to have one life for a lifetime???

I loved the vibe that Winnie has and the confidence of Chase. They made a solid couple who I could definitely hang out with. Two people searching one for stability and the other coming into her own they did not have all of the answers but they embraced their journey to their own happily ever after. Yet another gem by the author and a job well done!

Tailwind is the fourth book in M.C. Cerny’s Love By Design series. A sweet funny opposites attract with an age-gap romance, set in a small town. It can be read as a standalone but all the characters from the books before and after this one make an appearance. The friendship they all have is very obvious so it will make you want to go and read the other books, or at least find the one that is about the character you liked the most in this one. The start is good and sets the scene for the fun ahead between Winnie Gray and Dr Chase Calloway.

Winnie has finished college and not had much luck with jobs. After her latest catastrophe, her mother packs her off to her aunt’s to dog-sit for the summer. She is a city girl used to an expensive lifestyle, full of bravado, attitude and sass when she first arrives. She actually is a bit of a scatterbrain who has no idea what she wants to do or be. Seeing her cope with being cut off from her trust fund and facing a reality check provides some funny events. It made me laugh as she tries to deal with the three dogs she pet-siting and I loved the scene where she first meets Chase.

“Who knew that coming to the middle of nowhere to babysit fur balls would have yielded a tailwind of good things to come.”

Chase changed careers when he was badly injured playing football. During rehab he realises it is his opportunity to follow his dream of being a Veterinarian even though it is going against his dad’s plans for him. He runs the Vet Clinic in his hometown and is immediately taken with Winnie when she brings the dogs in for an appointment. Luck is on his side when he ends up catching her as she faints during him performing acupuncture on Pumpkin.

“I knew you were trouble, but there was something about you.”

We get a fun build up to their relationship as they get to know each other and some steamy bedroom scenes when Chase lets his alpha side emerge. They both struggle with the idea of commitment, think they will only last the summer and will fizzle out once she goes back to the city. Chase knows and accepts they are different. I liked how he was open to any possibilities, cajoled her into his way of thinking and calmed her when she over-reacted to things.
Winnie knows he wants things she doesn’t but she does start to wonder if she could want these things too. I found once they started dating it all becomes very vague and we don’t get the development of their relationship.

I found his sister Kristen very annoying and a real pain to Chase who was a great big brother to her. I think you definitely need to read her and Damien’s book to understand their dynamics as at times it over shadowed this couple’s story.

To me it became very disjointed as the story developed. Seemed like the author had lots of stories she wanted to tell the reader about the couple but there was no fluidity between them. The pet-sitting faded out and I’d almost forgotten about the dogs at her aunts, as she was always at his house. It was a shame as the book started off so well and I was looking forward to it after reading the blurb, but it petered out. I found the end very abrupt and although the epilogue fun with a nice HEA, I felt cheated out of how they made it to that point as we never get to find out how they worked things out. It left me with a lot of questions as there were a lot of loose ends left.

M.C. Cerny has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Winnie and Chase. Whinnie has been sent to house/dog sit for her aunt for the summer. She got in trouble and her mother has sent her to her aunt's as a punishment. She is out walking her aunt's three dogs when she gets a call from her aunt telling her that her basset hound, Pumpkin has a vet appointment at 11:00 for acupuncture that morning. Winnie gets to the vets but she is late. When Winnie meets the vet, he introduces himself as Dr. Chase Calloway. Winnie faints as Chase puts the first needle in Pumpkin. She wakes up in his lap since he is holding her. Chase has gotten a call from his sister and she wanted to know if he was bringing someone to their mother's Fourth of July barbeque? He said that he was bringing a date so that his mother didn't try and fix him up with someone. On Winnie's next visit to the vet, Chase asked her if she would like to go to his mother's Fourth of July barbeque with him. She said yes that she would go. They start seeing each other and things seem to be fine. The longer she is with him the more her feelings grow for him. She is only to be there for the summer but now she doesn't know if she wants to go back home. Chase is falling for Winnie and he hopes that he can talk her into staying.
Can Chase talk Winnie into staying with him?
Will Winnie stay or go back home?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Review of eBook

He was the star quarterback with a shot at the National Football League, but a career-ending injury turned Chase Calloway from a jock to a veterinarian. Not that he minded the switch . . . .

Winnie Grey, exiled from the city to New Paltz, finds herself dog-sitting three unruly pets while her aunt and uncle travel. When Pumpkin needs acupuncture, she heads for the vet’s office, only to faint dead away at the sight of the needles.

Ever the gentleman, Chase catches Winnie before she hits the floor; now will the two find themselves seeking a happily ever after together?

This story, part of the author’s Love By Design series, works as a stand-alone; its focus is the developing relationship between Chase and Winnie. The characters are believable, the situation realistic. However, the story is not particularly deep and does not delve into all aspects of the growing relationship. Winnie changes as the story unfolds, but readers are not privy to the process of her growing out of her self-absorption. Nevertheless, the story is enjoyable and readers are apt to find themselves rooting for Chase and Winnie.

This charming story offers readers a plethora of laugh-out-loud moments, sexy romantic interludes, and the support of good friends. It’s a sweet story sure to please readers who enjoy romantic comedy.

Recommended.

Chase Calloway’s career-ending football injury gave him the out he needed and he became the local veterinarian.

Winsome Hana Gray-Yoshida (“Winnie”) lost another job right after the first one. Her trust fund was no longer accessible, and she was sent to update New York to dog-sit her aunt and uncle’s three troublesome pets for the summer while they were traveling. (I felt bad for Roswell, Pumpkin, and Bailey having to put up with her.) Her aunt called to remind her that one of the dogs needed acupuncture and told her not to be late. But she was, and they said she would have to reschedule if they couldn’t squeeze her in. She filled out the form and took the dogs to the vet’s examining room. But Winnie fainted dead-away as soon as he inserted the first needle to begin the acupuncture procedure. Chase gallantly catches Winnie before she hits the floor. Will she reward her new hero with a date?

I think that Winnie was just about totally unlikable. She is spoiled and arrogant and her stunt with pulling the fire alarm should have had her locked up for years. That is a really serious and dangerous thing to do, potentially putting others’ lives in danger. But Chase is a sweetheart and looks on the positive side of everything, in sharp contrast to self-absorbed Winnie. Grab your copy and see if she gives him a chance to be a good influence on her and perhaps even think about a future together.

Four & Half Stars - This story about Winnie Grey who was raised in "The Hamptons" is sent upstate New York to a small town to house sit her Aunt and Uncle's three unruly pets -Roswell, Pumpkin and Bailey- while they are away vacationing. Winnie gets a call from her Aunt that "Precious" needs to go to it's acupuncture appointment and not knowing which dog is "Precious", Winnie takes all the dogs to the Vet. Being berated by the receptionist Sharon for being late to the appointment, Winnie waits. Taking the dogs into the exam room she meets Dr. Chase Calloway who notices the bedraggled attractive Winnie. Putting Pumpkin - aka Precious on the table, Winnie watches Chase press the needles into Pumpkin and faints which Chase catches her before she hits the floor. Waking up woozy, Winnie decides to wait outside until Pumpkin is done. When Winnie is leaving the Vets, Sharon calls her to make another appointment for Bailey the next week. Walking home with the dogs, Winnie thinks about the attractive Dr. Calloway, can she last thru the ten weeks? This is a cute romantic, humorous story I enjoyed reading with very likable characters in this ARC I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout.

Chase and Winnie were really good together and for each other. There were some really funny parts, as well as, some serious aspects. I loved how they met for the first time. The connection and relationship was realistic and believable, and I appreciated that their age difference wasn’t a factor.

I gave this book four stars because there were two things that confused me or didn’t sit right with me. First, the relationship between Kristen and Damien in this book is confusing. Does this book take place before Unlovely Things or after? It appears to take place before, but it was written after it. That being said, their storyline in this book didn’t make sense to me. Second, I wish we would have seen Winnie’s growth and maturity a little more, as well as, her level of self-absorbed behavior decreasing.

Chase was a wonderful man and all of the friends are great to catch up with. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and recommend it. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

I read the first two books in this series and I adored them, so I figured I would give this book a chance. Unfortunately, this book didn't give me the same laugh out loud moments and I didn't feel the same chemistry for the H and h in this book.
I liked that the characters were familiar to me, and I was happy to hear Chase's story for finding love. However, Winnie's story was odd. She was banished to pet sitting for her aunt--which was really weird for an adult woman that already had a college degree. I am not sure why she ever agreed to that.
Additionally, there was no resolution as to where she was going after she left her aunt's house.
And the relationship between Winnie and Chase progressed from a first date to boyfriend/girlfriend to talk about marriage way too quickly for me. I just didn't find their romance that believable. There were definitely some heated, sexy times and some crazy family times, but other than those things, the book just didn't really hold my interest.
I would still read from this author again, because Book 2 UNLOVELY THINGS was amazing!

This is a light enjoyable read. It had me laughing from start to finish. I loved the mischievous animals. Their antics were one source of my many laughs. Not gonna lie some of the characters are crazy and they had to the humor. I had to warm up to Winnie a bit. Winnie is in town because her latest stunt has her in hot water. Though this punishment may be a blessing in disguise especially when she gets a peek at the town's veterinarian. I loved Chase. I mean you can't go wrong with a guy who loves animals. Chase is also good for Winnie. To me he grounds her and makes her take time to take a breath. Both Chase and Winnie are going to truly understand things happen for a reason. There is one part of this book with Chase in the hospital and what comes after that had me bursting up laughing. It's also Awkward with a capital A. This is a perfect read to forget the world and problems for a bit. The characters pull you into their story and drama.

I'd like to preface my review by stating that this is the first book I have read by this author and I have not read the previous books in this series. I had a bit of an issue with the heroine at first. Honestly, there was just something about her. I didn't dislike her so much as have a hard time really connecting with her for the first few chapters. That being said, I greatly enjoyed reading Tailwind.

I absolutely loved the hero. The story is about a professional athlete who has been thrown a curveball in life and has to essentially plan B it for the rest of his life. He isn't exactly ecstatic about it, but he works with the hand life has handed him. That makes for an admirable character. The heroine... meh. At least at first. She did grow on me though. The sparks didn't jump off the page, but they were there so it was a fun read.

I'll definitely be reading the previous books in the series.

This was an absolutely hilarious romantic comedy.

Winnie Gray is a directionless, spoiled brat that flies by the seat of her pants. She was fired from two jobs back to back and her parents have cut off her trust fund. She has to go to upstate New York for the summer to pet sit her Aunt's three dogs. She has to take one of the dogs to the vet for it's acupuncture appointment.
Chase Calloway is the local veterinarian. His mother is constantly trying to match make for him and he has a very strained relationship with his father. His sister has no filter and is juggling dating two of his friends. After catching Winnie when she faints at the acupuncture appointment, Chase decides to pursue dating her. Their first date is his Mother's July 4th barbeque.

Overall a cute read with some funny bits. I got the vibe that the author wasn't really a dog person as all the dog parts were a little crass, I'm sure they were supposed to be tongue in cheek but it just came off like she didn't like them which made it hard to really get invested in a book where the animals were a big part of it. It also was a bit disjointed and the flow was a little rough for my tastes. I love Veterinarian stories so I was excited to read this one but it was more of a miss for me. I didn't really like Winny as she was just a hot mess that didn't try too hard to fix herself. Chase was a good character but the family drama got a little confusing at times, as there was a lot of it. I did like all the animals and how they helped out at animal shelters to bring awareness to pets needing adoption.

Engaging, charmingly funny story. This was a witty, often funny, laugh-out-loud storyline about Winnie, the inept temporary dogsitter to no less than 3 of her aunt's dogs and Chase, an ex-football player, now the small-town hunky vet. At times, I was in stitches. All the character's in the book were very well developed and described. The story had a scene-appropriate intelligent dialogue with natural humour and general goodwill. The book is hot but not excessively so. The language, vocabulary, style and editing added to the book's appeal. It was an easy-to-read, light-hearted page-turner that will appeal to all those who welcome a storyline that is within the realms of reality, rather than every male hero being an alpha billionaire. Would be happy to recommend this novel to all romance lovers.

This book brings us Chase Calloway and Winsome Hana Gray-Yoshida (Winnie). Chase is the town's vet and WInnie is dog sitting 3 of her Aunts dogs while she is traveling. Winnie has no direction in her life, so her mother decided that dog sitting was what she was going to be doing over the summer. What's worse is the Winnie does not get along with the dogs. She brings them in to see Chase, and on her first visit, she faints when Chase gives one of the dogs a shot. This book is full of laughs. Both Winnie and Chase cracked me up with the things that either happened to them or the things they said. This is a perfect book to read after a action-packed heavy book. This one is a keeper! I HIGHLY recommend this book.

This book was cute and fun, but I feel like I only got half the story. Where’s the drama? Where’s the angst? Where were the scenes of them working through their differences and finding common ground? Where did we get to see Winnie growing up and taking real responsibility for her life? Where were the conversations between Chase and his father about the expectations versus reality of Chase’s life and career? This is the stuff I really wanted to read about with this pair, but it all seems to have taken place in the unwritten space between a kidney stone and a wedding, and I’m just left going “huh?”

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Winnie has been left to take care of her relatives dogs while they travel. It is not where the spoiled girl expected to end up but her parents did not leave a choice. Chase had a retiring injury from football and now is the local veterinarian. They meet when one dog needs acupuncture. Winnie is not fond of needles and faints. Chase saves the day and these two realize they are very attracted to each other. Their story is funny and sweet with a little steam

Winnie has been sent the pet sit for her aunt. She knows nothing about animals and is surprised her parents did this. But she moves there while her Aunt is on vacation and one day her Aunt tells her she needs to take one of the dogs to the vet. Now in walks Chase. He used to play football till and injury took that away. Even though his father wasnt happy. Chase is now doing what he loves. Hes the town vet. When he meets city gal Winnie it might be the best thing for him. Such a cute read with great characters.

I really liked this rom-com story. It was entertaining and enjoyable with plenty of laughs and feels. The characters were interesting and likable. Winnie is a spoiled brat that lives her life aimlessly. After her parents cut her off, she is sent to her Aunt's to pet-sit her three dogs for the summer. When she takes the dogs to the vet as one of them has an acupuncture appointment she meets Chase, the local veterinarian. Chase catches Winnie when she faints at the acupuncture appointment. Chase decides to date her. Chase and Winnie get a great happy ever after. I recommend reading this book.

The author has done it again. This series has been wonderful. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Winnie is sent to take care of her aunt’s three dogs. While there she has to take them to vet. This is where she meets Chase.

What will happen when she faints in his office? You will need to read to find out what happens next.

Will Winnie stay in town or will she go back to her normal life?

Winsome and Chase are such a hoot! She is a spoiled city girl sent to dog sit for her aunt and falls for the veterinarian who also falls for her. There is a couple of pretty hot scenes that I wouldn’t want to be caught reading in public and laugh out loud scenes I wouldn’t want to share with most. Such a fun book with great friends, some rivalry and great connections! Check this book out if you like fun banter and a playful couple.

Tailwind by M.C. Cerny. This is part of the Love by Design series but can be read as a standalone. Winnie and Chase really make this story come alive and the author’s storytelling makes you feel like you are right there with them on this crazy journey of love, self-renewal, acceptance for what is, and hope for the future. Story is filled with exciting drama, charming characters, and plenty of heat. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to others. The Love by Design books are always entertaining. In Tailwind, Winnie is the type of person you want to be friends with because she will always be able to make you laugh no matter the subject. Winnie and Chase had me laughing by themselves, but add in the other characters (Roswell, Bailey, Pumpkin, and even Kristen and Damien), and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Ms. Cerny has a wonderful sense of humor, and her books reflect this. I am still laughing over this one.

Winnie is set to spend a summer pet sitting for her aunt while she travels. Winnie is far more suited for city life, and finds herself taking the dogs to the vet for acupuncture.
During the acupuncture session, Winnie passed out and Chase, the sexy vet, revives her.

Their relationship is sweet as it develops and I enjoyed the playful banter between the two. Overall, a cute and funny love story between two unlikely partners.

Who is wagging who?

Tailwind is the fourth book in the Love By Design series and is a fun addition to it. The story if about Winsome "Winnie" Hana Gray-Yoshidaand Chase Calloway and more than a few dogs which bring them together. I have read the other books in this series and enjoyed this and this one was the same. The story-line is funny at times, has a bit of drama and romance along with being sweet and at times sexy. It made for a very nice read.

When Winnie has to leave the city to spend a summer taking care of her Aunt's house and dogs, she is not happy about it. The plus side is the sexy veterinarian named Chase. Winnie and Chase have an attraction to each other but Chase is looking for something series and he isn't sure if Winnie is here to stay or if she will leave when Summer is over.
Cute story ( even though Winnie was a bit aggravating at times) but I did enjoy the story. Romantic, funny and some steamy (low burn) scenes .

Easy to read once the story develops. I found the opening scenes bit chaotic, but liked Chase and Win characters. Felt it lacked some substances, such as mention of father and son difficulties but not fully developed , meddling sister who at times causes issues and is self absorbed ..again she mentions Vegas and causes upset but again she is oblivious until after the event. Win upset, Chase annoyed but sister comes out ok, but the scene was flat.

This was a cute, fun romance. Win was sent to pet sit for her aunt for the summer and in the process learned about herself and fell in love. I truly felt that Win and Chase were a couple who liked each other as well as loved each other. Both had troubled relationships with their families but didn’t let those issues turn into an “I’m not worthy of love” attitude. Win and Chase felt like a couple I could know for real. I’ll look for more in this series

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Winsome/Winnie and Chase. She's a tiny woman sent to pet sit at her aunt's house after getting into to trouble in NYC. Chase played football but it's now the town vet. They meet when Winnie takes the dogs in for acupuncture and faints. They have a instant connection but since she's only in town for the summer, it can't happen. Chase will do what ever it takes to get Winnie to take him seriously. Great HEA.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
