Diary from Hell's Waiting Room

Rate this book
She’s too bad for heaven and too good for hell.

As a result, she’ll languish in hell’s waiting room until it’s decided which direction will be her ultimate destiny.

Lesbian rock star, Fiona Foari has suffered an unexpected and unfortunate death. While she waits for a determination of her fate, she’s assigned a task. Her job is to decide which way other recent arrivals go. When faced with eternity, time can be tedious. Fiona and her new friend, Jessie, discuss life, admit mistakes, fantasize about what could have been, and plan their escape.

Will their plot to return to the land of the living work? Or will they be caught by one of the creatures tasked with overseeing the shadowy world that lurks between heaven and hell and flung to the fiery inferno of tortured souls below?

It’s entertaining enough and I liked that the storytelling device was a bit different from the norm.

It’s good but too short to have any real depth or emotional resonance. But an entertaining commute read.

It Could Be Heaven or It Could Be Hell
Fiona is a rock star who crashes her motorcycle in a most spectacular way, ending her up in Hell’s waiting room. Her job is to determine who goes on to Heaven, Hell or stays there for someone else to deal with. Jessie is a rubbernecker at Fiona’s accident and ends up dead herself. When they meet in the waiting room they discuss mistakes, what they would do different and how to get back to life….

This is a fun short story!! I loved tale. It was interesting, entertaining and thought provoking without being heavy and morbid and the ending was perfect! A great introduction to this author!

This is a uniquely, fun story. Oddly, the narration is something I normally detest, (a character speaking to the reader) but it totally worked in this instance.

Near the end, I admit to an eye roll and muttering, 'oh, no, Not that troupe' but my comment was premature. As I continued to read, that one 'judgment', (no pun intended) got turned on its head.

Kudos to the author for writing something completely out of the norm. At only 76 pages, this is a quick read.

Verdict - highly recommended.

2020 reading challenge ( told from perspective of the dead) This is such an interesting concept. Woman dies, goes to hell's waiting room, and writes a diary about what's happening during her death. She's not good enough for heaven but not bad enough for hell. She gets a job judging people ( as to where they go after death). Naturally she ponders all the things she did wrong in life, vowing that if she had a do over she would do things different. It's a fun story. It's kinda short, but that's appropriate. It tells the story. Plus it makes you think. Ya know about life, death, and the after. If I was in that position what would I do different? I wonder what my death diary would be about? But it's cool that I'm still alive and can live a better life.

Ocean is getting good at spooky tales! This short story is a journey to the great In Between. Waiting is never fun, especially when it involves the decision of whether you are going up or going...well you know where.👇
Fiona finds herself in a very unique situation in a mysterious “room”. She meets very creepy characters and one friend that she doesn’t mind spending time with.
If you want a short spooky read, that will help get you in the Halloween spirit, this is the book. Her Doll Island books are just as creepy. So read these.... If You Dare! Booohahaha!

Fun story, cool concept

This story isn't perfect, but for its little errors, it makes up with an interesting plot and a likeable but flawed main character. I loved the turtle!
