I wanted a short, concise introduction to what Ayurvedic medicine had to say on the topic of digestive health, especially in light of recent studies showing many Indian cuisine spices have healing properties for the GI system. This book pretty much fit that description for me. (And the lassi receipe in the back is pretty good. Tastes like what I used to get at a favorite restaurant years ago. So many places make them too sweet.)
This is the book that helped me start healing my IBS when nothing else would and I couldn't eat anything and had lost 50 pounds in 6 months. It's basically about eating according to ayurvedic principles; his quiz on how to determine your dosha is the best I've found anywhere. (I also recommend Heather Van Vorous' books and website for IBS help.)
Oh my Gut!!! ha ha.... Well self explanatory and perfect reading what i was searching for. This book blends the modern and ancient mix of therapeutic Ayurveda knowledge for perfect digestion. Instead of heavily relying on medicines and vitamin supplements, we should give the best doctor i.e. our own body, a good time. He knows how to align itself with nature. This book has helped me to reinforce my beliefs and adopt practical rituals as recommended by Ayurveda. I am currently on Ayurvedic medicines and still it wasn't showing better results but following advises of book for just 3 days changed a lot. I didn't even took medicines and could see the results. I'm writing my observation as recommended in the book and evaluating my emotional variable affecting digestion. Fully recommended for anyone suffering from IBS or related problems. Thank you Deepak ji for this masterpiece.
A little boring, but plain and easy to read. Some of the names introduced in the beginning are very foreign to me and made the book's message more difficult to assimilate. Just making a few of the changes suggested in this book has improved my health. I need to re-read this book in order to better understand and live by it.
An easy to read guide to improve digestion which includes old wisdom bout what helps us take care of our body.
Deepak Chopra is a physician who writes on a variety of health topics, sharing the wisdoms of his native country of India. In this case, he addresses IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) from an Ayurvedic perspective and presents you with a questionnaire to determine your metabolic body type (vata, pitta, and kapha doshas) and the food recommendations that go with each. He is a good author to recommend to patrons exploring Indian philosophies on health and wellness as he writes in a way that is simple and easy-to-understand for the Western reader.
I don't have digestive problems myself, but read this to see if I could learn anything useful for loved ones. It was quite good. I learned a lot about ayurvedic philosophy/science (I don't know if that's the right term, but that's what I remember) and there were surprisingly simple tips for improving one's health. It was not just all about changing your diet. I would definitely recommend this to anyone struggling with IBS or other digestive disorders.
Explains digestion from a holistic point of view, derived from Ayurveda. This book has good information that I was not familiar with. It has a questionaire section where you can determine your metabolic body type and then gives diet suggestions for how to bring your body into balance.
My dad bought this book and it was read by all family members. I tought it was fantastic the little but helpful advices Deepak give us on this book, easy and effective, I also like the ayurveda diet thing and the type of bodies quiz. Easy to read, easy to apply to real life :) We loved this one.
This book is a digestion game changer! It is simple, straightforward, and adapts all natural ways of looking at things. I highly recommend it! I've already stryed some of the techniques and have seen changes already!
