A Halloween party. A chance encounter. A blooming relationship. An explosive demise. Sounds like a regular college romance, right? But for me, it was four years of my life I’ll never forget. I went to that Halloween party a single, curious college girl and left as the apple of a man’s eye. As Brett’s dedicated little sweet treat. Four wonderful years… and one night is all that it took. One night and my life was shattered. I watched him walk away… And today, I’m sitting in his billion dollar company interviewing for a job. Memories resurface, secrets are revealed, and… I am making the same mistake. Falling for a cheating, heartbreaking man for a second time. I shouldn’t be doing this…he’s ex for a reason. Not only that, he’s my boss! Mistakes have consequences, And mine is evident from the two positive lines on the pregnancy test.

In this book we meet Olivia Masters and Brett Greyson. Olivia and Brett when they were in college. They had a relationship for 4 years that they thought no one could destroy oh how wrong they were. With her best friend telling her he was cheating and his sister telling him that she was keeping him from his family it caused fights. Not just one here and there but harsh words, throwing things and end the end things that will make sure you can't come back from. Or that is what they both thought. Olivia needs this job to take care of her mom and Brett never thought she would take a job at his company. There they are though and when they have to work on a new project that Brett wants to launch in his company he needs her help. Will they find that the spark is still there and even if it is will old problems still be there to make sure they will never see a HEA?
This is another amazing story by this author. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
This was awesome. I love second-chance romances and this took the cake. Olivia and Brett are great and I was feeling all kinds of evil for the other characters that kept interfering.

I loved everything about this book from the well developed and engaging characters that have lots of chemistry. The storyline flowed smoothly from beginning to the end.

I had to sit on this book for a day after I finished it before I wrote my review. I didn't hate it. I don't think I liked it though either. I will say I feel like I have whiplash from how back and forth my feelings for these two were. I don't think I liked both of them at the same time. If I did,it was far less frequent than hating at least one of them. I agree with the other reviews, and kind of wish I listened to them. I get having a character or two fighting against this couple, but this book was too much. Literally, every single secondary character was rooting against this couple. I feel like it was meant to make me root for the couple but it did the exact opposite. I actually found it to be distracting, especially when one of the MC's fell into these college habits they allegedly matured out of. I don't hate the book, I enjoyed parts, I liked the hero, but I'm not yelling how great this book is at the top of my lungs. I won't re-read it, but I don't regret reading it. JUST BE PREPARED: It's a tedious read, and the poor reviews aren't lying about a lot
Needless ‘angst’ and ‘drama’, apparently for no better reason, than to add angst and drama. It reads much less like a legitimate romance, more like a suspense to the point of annoying. The H and h are surrounded by ‘friends’ and family, who evidently-for no apparent reason-have all conspired together to insure these two never have a relationship. This conspiracy has apparently continued for nearly a decade. And on and on it goes. I finally reached my ‘irritation’ saturation point, and deleted it from my Kindle. This is not a book I could finish. It is definitely not a book I would recommend.
I enjoyed this book but I also found it supremely frustrating. I really liked Olivia and Brett as a couple. I thought thay were very sweet and steamy together. I tried hard to cut them some slack but I found it difficult to believe in their "great love" when it took so little to test it and succeed in breaking them apart. Still, I can't deny that I wanted them to get that HEA. I just was not a fan of some of the plot twists used along the way to get there. This is my independent, impartial review.
Brett and Olivia's story is an emotional one, that is full of other people's lies and deceit. They first meet at a Halloween party her freshman year of college and they were together for four years before things came between them and they broke up. Then four years later she ends up getting a job at Brett's consulting company. Will this be a second chance for them? Or will they let other people once again tear them apart. This is a great read and I highly recommend it!
I really liked the storyline of this book. The meddling of so many people was essential to the story. The ending, however, was lacking. The best friends were t even mentioned. The explanation of the father’s behavior was not as clear. I wish there was more on the mom and her boyfriend. The parents on both sides seemed to be the only ones that didn’t meddle in this relationship. Overall, I liked it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
it started off strong but went downhill after awhile. brett and olivia lack communication, big time. also listening to what others have to say rather than talking it out amongst themselves. all of there problems could have been solved with TALKING. i saw another review saying it felt like a first draft, and i honestly see where they are coming from. it all felt rushed and poorly written. i usually enjoy a good office / second chance romance but this one didn’t sit well with me
I did expect more of a Halloween theme. The story was good. Almost too much drama from the families though. I thought more would come from the Daniel character. He was skeezy. HEA. I gave it 3 stars because I felt like it had so much untapped potential.
Could you imagine every single person in your life besides your parents constantly telling you that the person you love is not good enough for you or is cheating on you or whatever all the dang time...that's what these 2 are putting up with since they was first together...when they split and when fate stepped in. Gosh
The Halloween party is how they met. Olivia and Brett went on a relationship and emotional roller coaster ride. It changed their lives. Now, both no longer in college, and Olivia taking a job at Brett's company, will they be able to continue like they used to be in college or will Olivia's secret be too much and cause them to be done forever?
DNF. Not the book for me. After the main introduction of characters and the past things seemed unbelievable. The mindset of the characters didn’t match the actions. Scenes were repetitive. Same word choice over and over. After that, I didn’t care to know what happened to the characters, so I deleted and moved on. I gave three stars because the idea is there and someone else may enjoy the story.
Too much drama and misunderstandings and barely any romance. Neither Brett nor Olivia were likeable, they were at odds for most of the book. There was a rushed ending with a sudden time jump which was annoying because most of the book was wasted on constant unnecessary drama and immature, over the top characters.
Olivia and Brett were to young the first time during their relationship to withstand the pressure and manipulations of outside forces. But now older and wiser can they trust themselves and each other in this hot and sexy 2nd chance romance?
First, let me say. This was well written. But I was disappointed in the story itself. It started off good. But then about two-thirds through, it fell apart. After the news he got, he acted like a jerk. And then she going to give in that easy? I don't think so.
New to me author and I thoroughly enjoyed Brett and Olivia. If their friends and family would just leave them alone, they have a great love story. Love the characters and plenty of heat. Definitely will not be my only read by a Victoria. ❤️
I loved this book, such a touching story which I always love to read but I love how tough Olivia was and I loved how they went through trials and tribulations.
This is a wonderful 2nd chance love story about Olivia and Brett who meet when Olivia is a freshman in college at a Halloween party and Olivia becomes his sweet treat from that night on. They dated all through college and both their friends and his sister would make comments how the other one was cheating and not the right person and after so many lies it go to be too much so they had a big blow up and end up ending their relationship on a bad note. Years later Olivia needs a job and ends up getting one at Brett’s very successful company. Olivia is not sure how she will be able to handle working with Brett but after her 2 weeks of training Brett ends up changing her job and she is now his assistant working on a new project. These two figure out that they have the same undeniable connection they had in college and they start spending time together at work and outside work and once their friends find out the rumors and lies start all over. Secrets are keep and tempers come out and in the end Olivia walks away and Brett is hurt. Once the truth comes out Brett will need to come to terms and hopefully Olivia will give him a chance to make things right! When these two work together they become a team worthy of respect and love. Brett and Olivia fell madly in love while at college and were inseparable for four years, but family and friends were constantly telling them that they were wrong for each other. Then came graduation and they broke up. Five years later Olivia is now working for Brett in his company. They start dating again and they eventually pick up from where they left off in college.
Once again, family and friends are telling them they are better off with someone else. Then Olivia discovers that she is pregnant. Brett doesn’t know till they are in Germany for business and is deeply hurt that he is always second to know behind Olivia’s best friend who has never liked him. Things get blown out of proportion and they argue and Brett turns away from Olivia.
They eventually worked things out and discover why the lies and rumours were happening. Tears were cried and love proclaimed and they eventually have their happily ever after.
Lots of steamy moments throughout the book. You will laugh and cry with the characters, and want to get to the bottom of the problems they face. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book.
