⭐⭐⭐⭐ Flags into Battle

This volume is one of the strongest entries in the series, and I genuinely loved it. The visuals are outstanding, and the focus on the early American combat troops offers a vivid, grounded look at how the war began to escalate. The book captures the intensity of those first major operations, the conditions the soldiers faced, and the way U.S. forces tried to adapt to a new kind of conflict. The photographs, maps, and firsthand details make the experience come alive in a way very few books manage to do, and I found myself completely absorbed in every section.

On a personal note, this is the only book I have ever accidentally forgotten on a plane. I was traveling during Thanksgiving and left it behind without realizing it, but somehow the airline managed to get the book back to me. It is fitting, because this is exactly the kind of book that deserves to be returned. It is rich, immersive, and deeply engaging, and it reminded me why I enjoy this series so much.
