Darkness he can't forget. Light he’s afraid to remember. Magic that could change everything.
Exiled dragon prince Alexander never recovered from the murder of his mate Maiara, an indigenous healer he met over three centuries ago. Every waking breath is a painful reminder of what he lost, his grief compounded by the constant presence of her immortal red-tailed hawk, bound to him since her death.
When three of his siblings arrive with news that he may be in grave danger, he secretly welcomes the possibility of a violent end to his torment. But as the four reminisce about how they came to know Maiara in the New World, they begin to see her life and death from a new perspective.
For the first time, the source of Maiara’s power is revealed and inspires a new but precarious hope. There may be a way for Alexander to be with her again, but his second chance for a happily ever after is risky at best, and at worst, could cost him the only thing he has left.

I really like this series and I was really looking forward to this fourth volume featuring Maiara and Alexander.
Alexander has lost his desire for life since his girlfriend was killed more than three hundred years ago. Since then, he has been trying to die, but it is not that easy: the young woman’s immortal falcon prevents him every time. So when Rowan, Tobias and Gabriel, along with Nick and Raven, find him and tell him the truth about his mother, he finally sees a way to die. But Rowan is determined to save his brother, so she asks him to tell her Maiara’s story and his. A story that could well change his life… After all, why not bring Maiara back from the dead?
On top of all this, Aborella is determined to find the heirs and send them back to Paragon. Including Raven and her baby. Determined to manipulate Avery to find her sister, things aren’t going to be that simple.
It was a great volume once again and this terrible ending makes you want to know more! I wonder how our heroes are going to cope with everything that happens to them!
Narrated by David Brenin shares Maiara and Alexander’s romance. The story begins life times ago with a prologue. Maiara and her father are being chased by a wendigo. Then bounces around from 1699 to 2018. When we meet Alexander, he is a recluse artist who still mourns his mate and wants to end his life. His only companion is his mate’s bird.
I loved their story from her roots to how they met and were separated. I immediately felt Alexander’s pain as the author tugged at my heartstrings.
When the siblings arrive on the scene, they are unwelcome, and we get some history there too. Alexander is crushed to learn his siblings are mated. He reluctantly listens, but it is Gabriel’s mate, the witch who reaches him when she thinks she can bring Maiara back.
The story is told through various points of view and multiple timelines. We learn more about how the siblings arrived on Earth and established themselves. It was fascinating and my heart bleed for Alexander and Maiara. Their romance was not without struggles and I rooted for them.
As trouble finds them, the threats continue. The storyline is tight and well executed. Each story brings depth and a deeper understanding of Paragon and this family. We get updates and interact with the other couples, making it essential that you listen to this series in the order of its release. Matings and the overall story arc will be spoiled otherwise.
All the audiobooks have different narrators and this story is narrated by David Brenin. He captured Alexander and his emotions wonderfully. He did an equally good job with the other characters, both male and female. His tone, pacing and inflections made listening a pleasure.
The treasures of Paragon have brought back my joy. It’s been months since I’ve picked up a book or been interested in reading anything, but I missed reading so much. I finally decided to give reading a chance, after all this time in quarantine, so I picked this one up and enjoyed every moment. The suspense and heartbreak. The bonds between mates and siblings...I missed these dragons so much. Their adventures to reunite with one another and the dangers they still face from their homeland has breathed life back into my love of reading.
I love this series more and more with each new release and I knew that Alexander’s love story was going to be epic. His second chance was no less than beautiful and everything I hoped it would be.
I was lucky enough to read an ARC of this one. Genevieve Jack has done a fabulous job in this fourth book in her paranormal dragon shifter series. The main characters' past history cleverly weaves together with present day drama to create a genuine love story that abides across the ages - but Jack certainly puts them through the wringer before they get their hard-earned HEA!
Check out this review and others at www.Twinsietalk.com www.Facebook.com/Twinsietalk www.Twitter.com/Twinsietalk www.Tsu.co/Twinsietalk www.instagram.com/twinsietalk Newsletter : http://eepurl.com/brwkPv The Dragon of Sedona (The Treasure of Paragon #4) by Genevieve Jack I received this book from the author. GAH I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!! I will say this series does need to be read in order because otherwise I don’t know you will get the true feel of what is happening. You definitely won’t get the pure joy out of reading these characters and this family if not. Alexander lost the love of his life. He has tried every way possible to die but dragons just won’t die and his hawk won’t allow him to die either. When Gabriel finds his brother and lets him know all his siblings are mated and that things are definitely NOT what they thought when they left their home world, Alexander is unsure about everything. How can all this be and why would it be this way. Maiara story is how the Prologue starts out and we see her being chased but a wendigo. She is a very mysterious women with interesting abilities and gifts. When she dies Alexander is lost and doesn’t want to continue life without her. The possibility of having her back is something he wants to complete his life. He is lost without her and seeing his siblings all happy is killing him. Seeing the story of the siblings find their mates and the story of their mother’s betrayal to them is continued ark of the series. I love seeing them all meet up and reacquaint themselves and their mates to the old and new worlds. I have to say Gabriel and Raven are my favorite couple but maybe that is because of the fact they are the first story???
Having read the first three books of the series, each one gets better and better. The unbelievable twist had me up and yelling. I found myself cheering and just loving these characters. Ms. Jack does not disappoint. If your looking for a superior binge these five books are it.
The Dragon of Sedona by Genevieve Jack is book four in her The Treasure of Paragon Series. While the book could be read as a stand-alone, I recommend to read the books in order. The previous books are The Dragon of New Orleans; Windy City Dragon and Manhattan Dragon. This is Maiara and Alexander's story. Maiara is a mysterious woman, native and full of secrets. Alexander lost her a long time ago and he and his hawk are travelling the world. He was cursed to avoid his siblings at all costs. But much has changed, and he has no clue. When Gabriel and Raven show up he's in for the surprise of his very long life. The Dragon of Sedona is a slow burn, excellent written and beautifully thought out and beautifully told. I loved the storyline, the characters and I can't wait to get my hands on the enxt book in the series.
If you haven't read the books in this series "The Treasure of Paragon" you are missing out on a well written and compelling set of stories. This one, The Dragon of Sedona, adds two more characters, and fleshed out a couple more, in the ongoing plot. I've so enjoyed each book, and this one sets up the next one perfectly. At its heart, each book is a love story, but also an exciting adventure. Yes, there are dragons, witches, fairies, plus more and Genevieve Jack includes mere mortals too. Spend time with her books, you'll find you can't wait for the next one.
Reaching across time Once again, this author has overwhelmed me with her ability to create a world and characters to get lost in. I love how the siblings reconnect and how hope is born from anguish. The author was able to keep the intensity from the previous books going and led us on the path of an epic love story that eventually leads to a HEA I will be sure to read again and again.
I'm 100% new to Genevive Jack, and being dropped into the fourth book into a seriers is probably not ideal. But let me tell you, this did not hinder my reqding experiance at all!
Told from multiple main and previous characters point of view this story captured my interest. The story line itself was one of the best executed of that nature I have ever read.
While set in present day, this story jumps back and forth from 1699 to 2018. It followed effortlessly. Which was probably no easy feat to make happen.
My heart broke for Alexander. And soared when things started going in his favour. Going though his journey could not have been easy at all.
Genevieve Jack has woven a tale that you can sink your teeth into. I didn't feel as though I couldn't keep up seeing as I hadn't read books 1-3 but I also felt that to fully understand, the other books are a must.
Started reading this series when she was practically giving away the first book. Awesome writer. She just jumped into Serious author with this book: adding her to a special few who elevate the genre into Literature. Jack manages to blend Native American lore, Sci Fi (dragons from an alternate planet/dimension), Greek mythology and serious romance (actually needed Kleenex for this one!) into one of the best books I've read.
If you are looking for a summer read - start here. Jack's just gone to pre-order status and I suspect, she'll quickly reach the level of Kresley Cole, KM Moning, Shelly Laurenston and maybe even Anne McCaffrey. She's THAT good! Enuf said.
I loved everything about this story. The flashbacks to Alexander and Maiara’s love story were heartwarming and so, so heartbreaking. Raven performed phenomenal feats of magic and Maiara had her own spectacular moments. And then there was the breathtaking tension around Aborella and her attempts to take our heroes to Paragon. I can’t wait to read more about the rest of the dragon siblings. And on a side note, I cannot end this review without saying that Nick is awesome. This is the series for you if you like dragons, magic, and soulmates.
Genevieve is amazing. I love these dragon. I can't wait to read the next one and find out if Rowan, Nick, Alexander, Maiara, Sabrina and Avery can find more of the siblings to help save Tobias, Gabriel and Raven from the Paragon dungeon.
I fell in love with the world of Paragon since the first book. I have to admit Gabriel and Raven were my favorites until this book came along. Alexander and Maiara are something else!
This is the first time I have seen the lore of dragons intermixed with Native folklore. This book was not only a love story, but one of bonding and discovery. It takes a lot from me to cry at a scene, and this book made me laugh and cry and scream in a matter of chapters. It could be read as a stand alone, but it would be better if you decide to read the first three books.
Oh, and Avery! Please, we need a book for Avery!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I love the Dragons of Paragon so much, this series is absolutely amazing. If you love paranormal romance, hot dragon shifters, amazing world building, and a kick butt storyline, this needs to be your next read!
I have now listened to the first four books and they are amazing. This is Alexander's story and from this book we get more back story and more about siblings Gabriel and Rowena. There were some laugh out loud moments! Alexander is in a dark place after his mate's death. I really don't want to say much because it would be too easy to give it away. Just know there is sibling reunions, sibling squabbling, more magic, good and bad, a very scary time on the mountain, an egg and a cliffhanger. So, be prepared.
Deeply, heart-achingly romantic! Genevieve Jack has truly outdone herself with Book 4, The Dragon of Sedona!
Dragons mate forever. When exiled dragon prince, Alexander lost his mate three hundred years ago, he lost his heart, his soul, and his everything. Somehow he manages to cling to some semblance of life, finding refuge in his art. But, lately his paintings have been getting darker and darker, hinting at a mind that is very close to giving up completely.
Alexander’s mate was a beautiful Indigenous American Midew named Maiara. She was a practitioner of Mediwiwin medicine and magic, for which she became the target of an unstoppable demon assassin. Alexander’s dragon siblings, having sought him out to warn him about their family betrayal in Paragon, try to help him deal with his depression in present day. He tells them about Maiara in flashbacks from three hundred years ago. This is such an emotional and marvellous love story. And so tragic for us to know how it ended. Alexander has been faithful to Maiara’s memory all this time. Is there any way they can be reunited?
Alexander and Maiara’s love story is so tragic, heroic, and timeless. It’s quite simply one of the most beautiful things I have read in a long time. The author manages to stuff even more quality and impact into these pages by ramping up the suspense with the characters we have already met in the previous three books. What a stupendous read!
This is the 4th in the series of the Treasure of Paragon, dragon shapeshifter series. The dragon siblings are all in danger and are in Sedona to look for Alexander, another of their siblings. Alexander has been depressed about losing his soul mate for 300 years. She was an American Indian healer. Her name was Maiara. She left behind her red-tailed hawk who is now immortal and has been a companion to him for all that time. Three of his siblings arrive: Rowan with her husband a former NYPD detective, Gabriel, the oldest, with his wife, Raven a witch, and Tobias who also has a mate/wife who is a vampire, and head of her coven of Vampires in Chicago. They work to get him out of his depression by recalling the life he had with Maiara. As he recalls the good and bad he starts to feel better and they realize that there might be a way to be with her again.
Another great read from G.J. I have read all her books, so far and love them. Her writing is gritty, up to date and well researched. It is also adult themed, but not in a crude way. This one is no exception. Although a stand-alone, I would advise to start at Book 1, The Dragon of New Orleans. It adds to the whole thing to start at the beginning. This way, as well, allows you to binge read and not to have to wait a month or two for the next one. Trust me and try it. You'll see. A thoroughly good, fun and exciting read. As a totally red blooded male and normally a fan of SciFi and Military Space books, I totally recommend you give this and all Gen's books a go. You will not be disappointed.
Another fantastic addition to the series! The story centers around Alexander and Maiara and their lost love. Alexander lost the love of his life in Maiara and as a dragon he cannot die but also his hawk won’t let him. He has been lonely over the centuries because he cannot interact with his siblings and his love has died. Then Gabriel enters his life and informed him that all of the siblings have mated and things are not as they seem or were told when they left their home world. Can Alexander really have Maiara? Will their love for each other will stand the test of time?
I really enjoyed Maiara and Alexander’s fated mates romantic suspense tale with a side of death and magic. It was well written with witty dialogue, three dimensional characters and a fairly engaging plot line. The flow of this book was different than the others in the series, at least in the beginning. It started out as a series of scenes centuries apart, switching back and forth from the present day to when Maiara first met Alexander more than 300 years ago. I was not a fan of this type of pacing, it disrupted the story flow for me. I would have preferred the backstory in a large chunk. The flow was wonderful once the story was mostly in one timeline. Alexander is an artist and a dragon shifter hiding here from Paragon, another realm. Alexander found his fated mate, Maiara, 300 years ago but after she died, he has been barely living. Now that he is reunited with some of his siblings, there is a chance to get Maiara back. The book includes one of the evil actors from previous books along with the siblings and mates we’ve previously met. It’s an epic fantasy with all the suspense and swoons coupled with all the feels. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, fated mates, steamy encounters, sweet moments, dangerous situations, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, political intrigue, plot twists, and laughs. While this book could be read as a stand alone, to get the most enjoyment out of the overarching story arc in the series, it’s best to read the books in order as the MCs from the previous books play a large role each story and each book ends with unresolved issues. I am excited to read the next book in the series.
I swear, I know I've said this before, but I truly mean it when I say that this series gets better with every addition. The characters in this series as so amazing. They are relatable, even though they have magical abilities that I can only dream about. I loved getting to meet another of the Paragon Dragon siblings. In this one we meet Alexander, this fifth child. He lives in Sedona, Arizona. 300+ years ago, he watched as him mate was murdered and burn on a funeral pyre. Since then, he has walked the earth merely existing, never really living, haunted by her memory. Nyx, an immortal pet hawk, and Willow, a mountain oread, have been his only companions since her death. Now, three of his 7 remaining siblings have been thrust back into his life and he isn't confident he can handle it.
This story gives us a lot of time with Alexander and his mate, Maiara. We also get to spend quite a bit of time with Tobias, Rowan & Nik, Gabriel & Raven, and Avery. I really enjoyed getting to catch up with them all. The few surprises and hair-raising moments the author threw in kept this story entertaining and gripping from start to finish. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book.
Lastly, just a side bit, a really hope Avery get a doting dragon of her own. After her rather dramatic plane crash of an entry into the world of magic and dragons, she kind of deserves one. Plus, how cool would it be if the Tanglewood sister each mated with a Paragonian Dragon Prince.
*I received this book as an ARC which in no way altered my opinions.* The sixth installment of The Treasure of Paragon series, Highland Dragon is the book we’ve been waiting for. Avery, Raven’s older sister who stood by her sister’s side during sickness and health, is tasked with finding the elusive brother of the other dragons, Xander. From the beginning, with Raven’s book and the previous novels, we get little glimpses into who Avery is. She is more than a sister, daughter, caregiver, and barkeep.Highland Dragon is where Avery goes from a secondary character to a badass willing to fight for herself, her family, and her friends. This isn’t just another installment of a paranormal book, this is an example of the struggle women have in not saying yes to everything and standing up for themselves. Honestly, the character growth was amazing and I didn’t think I could love anyone as much as I loved Alexander but I was wrong. I think because both Avery and Xander are fleshed out by Genevive Jack it feels like it’s more than a story about dragons. Sure they’re cool but it’s a story in which a woman finds the depths of herself and what she is willing to do for her family and friends. This story is beautifully told. Each story builds on the one preceding it but the effort that was taken by Genevive to build the world went above and beyond other authors. I cannot wait for the next book!
This was my first venture into this series Outstanding world-building Fantastic characters A solid story line that kept me on edge throughout
The Dragon of Sedona takes the reader from the present to the past running both stories side by side It works flawlessly! I was on edge from the first scene Alexander was lost - truly his soul had lost its other half and he felt like he was just wandering Empty Alone Maiara was his everything When the truth of their exile is uncovered his family shows up unannounced and un-welcomed to his home thinking to reunite everyone Alexander wants nothing to do with it Until his sister's mate questions that which should not be Suddenly Alexander has a reason to face another tomorrow
Can the siblings thwart their mother's plans? Can Alexander find a way to accomplish the impossible?
I read a comp copy and now I am hooked This will be added to my list of one clicks series reads I will also be going back to the beginning If you enjoy strong paranormal with solid story lines and a cast that will own your heart Look no further
The fourth book in the Treasure of Paragon series features Alexander and Maiara and their tragic fate. When the dragons were sent from Paragon, they eventually made their way to the New World in the 17th century. Maiara was their guide through the wilderness, a woman of unusual talents. She became Alexander's mate, but tragically died. Now, in present day Sedona, Alexander's pain is eating him alive and his only reminder of his love is a charmed hawk, who seems to have acquired the one thing Maiara did not: immortality. But when Alexander's siblings converge on his world to reveal the truth about Paragon, his life is immeasurably altered. I admit, I almost gave up on this story. The first half is a bit plodding and slow, and I had to believe it would get better. Boy howdy, did it! When the plot finally picks up, it picks up fast and the remaining story flew by in no time! Now, I'll be eagerly awaiting Book 5.
3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. I’ll admit, I think my tentative interest in this book is starting this series on book 4. There is a lot of focus on secondary characters from previous books, so I’m not going to recommend any books in this series as standalone, they’re definitely all connected.
I found the plot interesting enough that I kept reading, but the romance and characters themselves never really hit for me. A lot do this book the fmc is not around, so there are flashbacks and story building, which I didn’t mind. But I think the flashbacks just told me that he’d only known her like a week or more and spent 300 years mourning her? Just couldn’t buy in, and with the two MCs having so little time in the present on page together, it just didn’t connect for me.
Not bad writing, relatively interesting overarching story, so still a 3.5 star book.
So much craziness. We learn about Alexander and his mate Maiara. Back when everyone first came to America before it was even settled. Really cool with the jumps in time, when he told the story of how he met her and everything that happened. Loved watching the family come together and try to help Alexander heal and then fox things. Honestly with each book I honestly hate Aborella more and more. Excited for the baby!!!! Can’t wait for next book. Between aborella and their wretched mother, I hope karma does her thing. I’m also hoping Avery gets powers and joins the ranks of the 3 sisters. Then they just need one more long lost relative (mhm hints on a plane) and then they can’t do damage!!
