Wren Fallon has a love for the written word, a passion for prose, and a skill for weaving webs that rival the prowess of the most manipulative of Black Widow spiders. While her spoken tongue is awkward, words flow from her pen like water rushing from a fresh spring. She is a ghost writer. A voice for the voiceless. An author without a face. A nameless narrator telling tales for another. She didn’t write for just anyone, though. Wren Fallon had the tremendous feat of penning new material for the reigning queen of the twisted mystery, herself, Welsh-born Morvin Ainsley. The press assigned Morven many names. The Maven of Mystery The Duchess of Suspense Queen of the Cliffhanger At the ripe old age of 92, Morvin Ainsley had published one hundred and nineteen full-length novels. Her first novel, titled The Starling, was published in the summer of 1948. Her most recent work, a fierce best-selling novel titled The Crystal Ocean was released just six months ago, and is enjoying its twenty-seventh consecutive week atop internationally recognized best seller lists. Morvin Ainsley is an enigma. A mystery in and of herself. Despite the awards, the critical acclaim, and the leagues of adoring fans, Morvin Ainsley’s greatest mystery cannot be found in the shelves of a bookstore or in the archives at the Portland Library. Morven’s most tremendous mystery to date is her own disappearance. The author vanished from public view in 1983. No one, not even the ever-prying journalists at the South Maine Gazette, have gotten a glimpse of Portland’s famed Mystery Maven. Despite this, Lorcan Press still releases five Ainsley novels per year. Her text never tired. Her writing never showed signs of her advancing age. As far as documentation went, Morvin Ainsley ceased to exist in the early ‘80s. Only two people know how to reach the esteemed author. Not in person, of course. Never in person. Not even by telephone. Written correspondence was her chosen method of communication. The author’s floral scrawl wound gracefully over cream, perfumed stationary pages. These letters were the only proof that Morvin was actually alive. But then, one day, the letters stopped, removing the last shred of evidence that the Maven of Mystery was still among the living. This is the story of two women. One, a struggling writer, the other, no more than a ghost. Like the willowy bend of phrase tossing to and fro, the sharp gust of wind whooshing through the plain, the subtle flicker of a candle’s ember in a damp and dreary room, the hammer of a heartbeat in a body presumed to be dead. This tale has more than its fair share of surprise. Morvin would have it no other way. When the weaving of a web comes undone. When all clues slip loose and fall into oblivion. When the silent can send the loudest message of all. Only one person can unravel the truth. Enter: The Ghost Writer.

This was the perfect book to be my first read by this author. Working as a ghost writer allowed her to use her skills as a writer while working with a well known and respected author. At least that's how it starts out. This story gets you caught up in her life right from the start. It's a great read with some romance and action, some intrigue and a twist you don't see coming. This author doesn't bog you down with behind the door scenes nope she keeps you drawn in with page after page drawing you further into the story. Just when you think you have it all figured out she throws in another twist.
I have seen this author's work and now that I have actually experienced it I must say I will be reading more. Love her style and her characters. Sam is charming and supportive and just what every girl wants. Fallon is no wimp either. I love that she's a strong character in her own way even though her tendency to be all in her head may have been her downfall. Great read and yes I will be checking out more of this author's work.

There was just the right amount of romance. It was sweet and touching, I adored Sam, and it didn’t over power the rest of the story. I loved the mystery and suspense, it kept me hooked. The twist! Oh my I didn’t see it coming.
There's so much i loved about this book. The fact that the author did not go overboard with the sexual details. It has mystery, suspense, and a perfect dash of romance. I loved the storyline and writing style. This would be the perfect book to read in front of a warm fire with a hot cup of coffee on a snowy day.
This book was totally different from the other book I've read by this author but it was sure worth the wait! It captured my attention at the very beginning with each turn of the page it became increasingly intriguing just couldn't put it down! Will Rennie and Sam get a happily ever after?
