FROM THE MODERN MASTER OF THE ACTION ADVENTURE M.I.A. HUNTER SERIES COMES CODY’S WAR!
BIG TROUBLE IN CHINA!
Cody’s mission: locate and extract a defecting physicist, Dr. Kwan, creator of the ghastly mega-weapon, Dragonfire. But the mission goes south almost immediately when a US Navy reconnaissance plane disappears over the South China Sea after observing Chinese nuclear submarine activity. Also missing: the dive team sent to investigate. Then there’s the coup d’état being staged in Beijing by renegade Chinese military officers intent on launching a nuclear holocaust and establishing a new World Order.
With no one to trust in this deadly maze, Jack Cody races the clock against an imminent world threat spawned far beneath the sea . . .
That was one of the best reads. mysterious weapon threatens to tip the balance in modern warfare. the scientist who developed it wants to defect. a Coup d'état is brewing up. our man Cody alias Suicide Cody is sent to clear up the mess by the POTUS. A very good thriller with twists and plenty of action.
Wolfpack Publishing is doing yeoman’s work in publishing both the back catalog of top action/adventure writers and their newest novels. For example, Stephen Mertz started writing great novels decades ago, like M.I.A. HUNTER series he created under the pseudonym Jack Buchanan and 12 of the best novels in the EXECUTIONER series. Wolfpack recently reprinted the M.I.A. novels and is now publishing a new series Mertz created about Jack Cody, a Former Navy SEAL U.S. who became a troubleshooter and operative for the U.S. government. For reasons explained in DRAGONFIRE! – the first novel in Mertz’s Cody’s War series – he has been nicknamed “Suicide Cody.” In this one, Cody is tasked with trying to stop the Chinese from employing a shockingly dangerous new experimental weapon they stole from a scientist against the US. There are few writers who can create a major new action/adventure hero and series that doesn’t just tread old ground. Mertz is one of those few. DRAGONFIRE! Starts off with a mind-blowing bang and never lets up. It hooked me on the Cody’s War series right off the bat.
Not a bad read but not brilliant either ,In the first chapter Cody immobilized an enemy with a Judo Chop ,I couldn't believe what I was reading I haven't come across that phrase since the Avenger's was on tv ( I'm showing my age here ) the Purdy and Steed one I mean not iron man and all the rest ,I don't think Mr Mertz has done any contact sports in his life plus the book could have done with proof reading before publishing there were quite a few mistakes also by a third of the way through the book you will realise if he gives a full background on a character, married, single, kids ambitions in life you can guarantee they will be dead by the end of that chapter, overall it was ok it passed some time.👍👍👍
Thank you Stephen Mettz for another good book i had not read any book of yours but the Vietnam boys but I got to say you hit the ball with this one i am going to read the next one.
This book had me from page one and would nt let me go. The storyline and it's plot twist left me breathless. I really liked all the characters and found them easy to identify with. I highly recommend this book for your reading adventure.
I do enjoy intrigue with a semblance but with the bao, chao and zao it became very confusing. The book didn't flow for me. I found I had to push to get through it. I will have to think about whether to read the sequel to it.
When Jack Cody is tasked with finding and recovering a brilliant Chinese physicist who has created Dragonfire and wants to defect to the USA,anything can happen...and does!!!
I selected this book only because it was a series and I am addicted to series. I truly enjoyed the work of art that Stephen Mertz created. I felt as if I was there as he lead me along Cody’s adventures. I am starting book II after I finish this review.
