A VERY SURREY SFS CHRISTMAS was an unexpected treat I had wished for but not anticipated, and it more than lived up to my expectations. This novella is, in some ways, an extended epilogue to the delightful SFS series but also a superb steamy Regency Christmas story by itself.

All our favourite characters are represented, and the grumpy Duke of Fairfield - Randall Denham's father - makes an unforgettable appearance; in fact, he nearly steals the show! Everything is perfection itself apart from a very sudden shift in Chapter 3, when I had to check if I had skipped a page.

Nicola Davidson's writing is outstanding, as expected, and the dialogues are utterly brilliant, particularly those from the Duke. It is a joyful story with a dash of melancholy, where wit and naughtiness abound, and the true spirit of Christmas, love, and understanding fill the air. This delectable novella concludes with a perfectly wonderful epilogue; a fitting ending to an absolutely splendid series from the first word to the last!

Yay I finished a series! This one was 3.5 stars. It was a nice wrap up and I enjoyed seeing all the couples again. It's not super Christmasy but still a fun book for December. Each couple gets a chapter and there an intro and an epilogue for Fairfield, who was introduced last book. I think I actually like those parts the most as they were very sweet. Each chapter has a bit of a summary of what happened in that couples book. I found those parts to be a bit clunky and inorganic but that might be because I read all the books so close together so I didn't really need a reminder. There is sex in this book but basically no plot, it essentially just fluff. That's what I expected and I had no problem with that. I really enjoyed reading all these novellas and I will definitely consider reading more Nicola Davidson books!

If you haven't read the Surrey SFS books yet, what are you waiting for, and maybe do that first before picking up this holiday novella. All the romantic partnerships get their due and sexy times in basically an extended epilogue as they gather for a holiday celebration. Super delightful and as always Davidson shows happily ever after for all in a variety of ways. Super sexy and a jolly good time.

I feel more festive and ready for the holidays already! So fun to see all the SFS cohorts again. Davidson has drawn up the perfect scenario for a delightful peek into how they're all doing. And Lord Fairfield is the perfect spoon to stir the pot!

This was such a fun, sexy read! We get to catch up with each pairing from the series, some of whom have babies now and some who remain resolved in not ever having children—and I do recommend you read the series first before reading this one for maximum enjoyment. They’ve all reunited for a masked Christmas ball at the Lady Portia and Denham’s home. There’s also a great seasoned romance subplot involving the duke (Denham’s father, who is in his 80s) and his own potential lady love (age not specified but she has gray hair).

This is sweet and just what you'd expect from a collection of epilogues highlighting each HEA in the series. But maybe I'm not an epilogue person? The plot is weak by necessity and while it's lovely to see everyone, reading 'oh wow being a new parent is rough' several times over makes me roll my eyes.

Lovely for what it is, which isn't exactly my kind of thing. Still a nice cap off to the series, especially the final epilogue. I'll definitely be exploring Davidson's backlist!

This was a short read & included catch ups for Beatrice and Amelia, Madeline and Ethan, Clayton, Susanna, and Joseph, Lady Portia and Denham, and Denham’s father the Duke of Fairfield. There are two new additions, a destructive cat & someone new in faffy’s life. I loved catching up with each of the couples & how their lives had moved on. I read this captivating, hot novella in a sitting, it was a lovely conclusion to the series

I didn't know there was a new Surrey SFS book out!

This little novella is an epilogue of sorts for all 4 storylines and gives us a little more focus on Fairfield. It was nice to revisit all the couples from the first 4 books. And Fairfield is such a cranky old curmudgeon - I just love him.

I was going to save this to read in December but I just couldn’t say goodbye to these extremely delightful characters. Each couple gets their own chapter and get a peek into their lives (with lots of steam of course) and Duke of Fairfield even gets a chapter!

Quick Thoughts:
- I thought it was fitting that the order of each couple’s chapters is the book order
- Was NOT expecting to get so emotional over Faffy’s scenes. It took a bit of self control not to cry
- Enjoyed that there was no drama in this novella, just couples (re)connecting
- So many Romance series have a great group of core people with great dynamics that you fall in love with, just to have the author tear that group apart under the guise of each one finding love and starting their own lives separately. Not this, they remain close and involved with each other. Such a relief
- I love Mittens

Overall, I am constantly impressed by Nicola Davidson’s ability to tell a great story, with characters that I love that don’t abandon what makes them great, in such a small page count. That takes great skill and talent. This story felt like the extended epilogue to the main series that we, and the characters, deserve. Simply lovely. Nicola Davidson remains an instant buy for me and is someone I’d recommend to anyone.

First of all, a moment of appreciation for the perfection of this cover. It's beautiful and Christmas-y, and I'd like to point out the people in the background at the ball, which is a detail not often found on historical romance covers (or romance covers in general). This is a series about building community even when society might not approve of you, and so this is an extra nod to the the very specific & personal happiness of the HEAs the protagonists of the series have found, to make it clear that our genre-marker of a pretty-lady-in-a-pretty-dress does not stand alone. She's throwing a masked ball, and she's doing it SFS style, ffs! For whatever ostracism might have happened, the ability to build and connect and belong within a community is something she continues to claim. That's a big and happy yay.

Second of all, this is a very delightful epilogue to the Surrey SFS erotic romance series. I enjoyed catching up with their lives, appreciated the attention to characters and humor and how they communicate about their desires and their bodies. And of course I babbled on about the cover, but the text emphasizes the community and found family (built of loved ones, friends, some blood relatives, a grumpy father-in-law, and a hellion kitten), too, obviously.

Goodness!! The Duke of Fairfield’s musings and antics got me a bit teary eyed.... and I loved the ending for him!!

It was so wonderful to see the Surrey SFS together again and have another glimpse of their lives and friendship. And, of course, since Nicola Davidson is the one writing this, you know it’s going to be deliciously steamy... she never disappoints.

Short read, but full of heart, love, and laughter!!

5 stars: Made me teary AF. Loved revisiting these amazing characters. Made me wanna hug the author for writing a book that gave me all the feels!! Will be re-reading this story over and over and over again!!

The thing to know about Nicola Davidson is that she writes hot, steamy, erotic novels, and she does it very well. If you want a sexy historical fiction read, she's your author. Some of her books are excellent, in that they weave the story in with the outstanding sex. She also has interesting often amusing and quirky characters. This book was good, but not her best. But it doesn't disappoint.

So if you want a little spice in your life, she should be your go-to. If you are bothered by frank talk and sometimes unconventional sex, or if you don't like having word pictures of exactly what is going on, then you might want to stay. But I think that what she does, author Davidson does quite well.

I loved seeing all my favorites again! This is a delightful read and a wonderful peek at how all the members of the SFS are doing! And while there are the usual speedbumps of life, the reader knows that they'll be overcome and that all the lovers are enjoying their HEAs. I am firmly #teammittens. I loved this story of Captain Randall & Portia Denham! The moment the Captain narrated his thoughts you knew he was in love w/ Portia. Surprising discovery regarding The Duke of Fairfield. I cannot say I'm thrilled with his behavior. I enjoy the supporting cast, especially Lord Ethan & Lady Madeline Dare & their support to have their friends to be together. I recommend this short but sexy romance.
