I just can’t push through anymore. This is a bit of a cheating husband bait and switch to a Christian romance that I’m hoping I picked up as a freebie. The rest will have spoilers.

SPOILERS

The blurb sets this up, Kimberley is just waiting for her youngest to leave for college so she can leave her husband Gregory who has been cheating on her for two years. She literally waves to her daughter, walks in the house, grabs her suitcase, and says I’m moving today because you’ve been having an affair for two years and stomps out while he vehemently denies.

After a quick unneeded flashback of them meeting, dating, getting engaged we’re back to the present and the cracks are starting to show. First, we get his POV that he didn’t cheat. Then he intercepts a call and realizes someone’s trying to poison his marriage.

Hello, Mrs. Davenport. He’s with her again. He bought her a teddy. Check his credit card statements. Why do you stay with a man who flaunts his affairs in your face the way he does?” As soon as they spoke those words, the line went dead. The voice on the other end assumed it was Kimberly.

Pretty creepy right?? It gets worse…

Suddenly, he realized that whoever made that phone call knew about the surprise party for Allen in accounting. Allen had just finished his studies to become a man of the cloth. Gregory had picked up a bright red teddy for him, thinking it would be a funny reminder of what he was giving up.

Hold up What ??

Things go sideways from there with her mom scolding her to trust in God. And Kimberley visiting her priest for marriage advice when she hasn’t even talked to her husband.

I think her friend summed it up best….

I just got off the phone with the woman who claimed to have information about Gregory’s infidelity. Also, what kind of moron listens to a depraved digital voice for two years without at least punching her husband in the face?”

You say, Angelica, I have no common sense and need your expertise in helping me plan a dinner date with my husband because I have a lot of words to say to him.”

Bottom Line- I found this so unrealistic it was silly. I can’t imagine 52/54 yr. old adults that have spent 30 YEARS together acting like this and never communicating. This teased an unfaithful husband, then a crazy meddling wannabe OW… but delivered an innocent husband trying to woo his crazy wife and a disgruntled OW that didn’t even want in his pants!!

On re-read I think I was a little too harsh actually. I found it very good. The husband really loved his wife and went all-out to show her. I loved the roses scene and how hard he worked to find the guilty party. I did get a little annoyed at the heroine for her hesitancy in just asking him the truth. She was so untrusting of her husband and too trusting to some random person calling her out of the blue. The ending was perfect. Loved how much he loves her.

Very short and I mean short story where a woman thought her husband was cheating based on phone calls she received. But he really wasn't. So he tries to win her back. Very immature writing but I have to say she got it published and that's something I could never do. Very disjointed but I still was glad he didn't cheat. So two stars.

My rating: 2 1/2 stars

What I liked: I liked Gregory(H). He took ownership of his mistakes and does everything he can to fix his marriage. I thought the renewal of their vows was nice.

What I didn’t like: Kimberly(h) really annoyed me. She is going to keep the phone calls she was getting for two years from some other woman a secret and not try to find out who it was. I mean if some stranger was calling me and telling me my husband was having an affair I damn sure would find out who was calling me. And I definitely would question my husband too :| Also, I would like to know how the woman new certain things and what about the picture????

***Major Spoilers/ Details/Triggers: H and h are married and the last of their kids just left. h thinks the H has been cheating on her for the last two years and tells the H she is leaving him. H is totally confused and doesn’t understand why she would think this. He does realize that he took his wife for granted and spent too much time at work. When the phone rings, he answers with a soft voice because he was upset, and woman on the line says that he bought sexy lingerie for his mistress and if she doesn’t believe her check his receipts. Now knowing why his wife thinks he is cheating asks his best friend who works with him at the law firm for help and he traces the phone call which is coming from their work. While figuring out who made the calls the H upgrades the h’s hotel room and sends her flowers. She calls him to tell him to stop and they agree to go on a date. She gets mad because he denies the affair even though the woman over phone knows details about the H. During her week of separation she calls her mother and she tells her that she should have confronted the H when the phone calls started. The h also goes to her church to ask for advice and he asks her are you certain he cheated. She couldn’t answer yes and decides to talk to the H. H’s best friend wife calls h and has a heart to heart with her (basically telling the h that she was an idiot for not confronting the H when the first call happened). She then takes the h shopping for a dress and takes her to get hair/makeup done so she can look great for her husband (which she is seeing later that day to apologize) H and the best friend catch the culprit in the act and it was a woman who’s husband was fired at the law firm (because he got fired he started drinking and not treating his wife right). This woman wanted to ruin his marriage like he ruined hers. H with the help from everyone, surprises the h with a renewal of their vows when she comes that night for their talk. HEA

Descriptive Sex: No

Final thoughts: This was just barely ok. I think I will take a break with Sam Crescent books.

Can this marriage be saved?

The premise of this short story is a good one. With the youngest of their children off to college, Gregory and Kimberly should be starting the next phase of their life together. But infidelity brings an end to their marriage.
What might have been a great read was ruined by bad grammar, poor punctuation, and a lack of editing.

Can a marriage touched by infidelity recover? Kimberly
Had waited two years Until her youngest child went to college to confront her husband regarding his infidelities. Gregory was so shocked at the allegations he couldn’t deny them. Knowing what Kimberly thought was untrue, Gregory set out to prove his faithfulness and love. Finding out who set out to ruin his marriage, showed Gregory how he took his wife of 30 years for granted.

This was a short but emotional read which shows communication between partners can only strengthen their love.

Not communicating causes issues when one-sided. She believed he was having an affair, and instead of confronting him, she stewed for two years in turmoil, awaiting her daughter to go to college. She leaves him the same day, leaving him devastated, not knowing why.

He is determined to find out the culprit who caused this problem. When he does, he shows her, and she feels terrible for not trusting him and confronting him.

In the end, it ends well, and they have their marriage renewed.
I loved this story. I recommend reading this story.

Finding Forgiveness

This is not your typical cheating story. She left her husband after their last child went off to college. She accused him of cheating on her for years. What this story was about is communication between the couple. She had let someone else hurt her through innuendos and lies. He was a very strong person in not letting her go and figuring what went wrong. This is a great short read about second chances.

Trust faltered…

The premise, that the wife has been told her husband cheated for over two years, is an interesting one. I’m sure I would have done some investigating if I was getting these weird phone calls. What it turns out to be is just unbelievable. Seriously, I can’t believe this person did this!

KU read, short and sweet. There’s a bit of a Christian vibe to the story that was unexpected, but it wasn’t terrible. I enjoyed this one.

I was intrigued as to where this book was going from the summary and the sample. I can understand why the wife never spoke up, out of fear if he was cheating or the change of the marriage dynamics from being accused. So like some woman she took it and kept quiet until the kids were gone and wouldn't be caught in the middle.

It was a good read.

❤️❤️.

I loved this book. When they made God the center of there marriage everything else came together. My favorite part was when Gregory told her he prays for her every night. That made my heart happy.

Not for me!

I found the story to be boring and totally unbelievable. I didn't connect with any of the characters and found the whole thing to be flat!

Love and Faith conquers all

A wonderful story of love, trust, Faith and determination in marriage. I like how he believed in himself and his love to his wife to get to the bottom of her doubts and fears. And how she talked to her mom and her priest and to finally realize that she needed to hear what her husband had to say. Another thing important in a marriage, communication.

It's ok

It was an ok read. Aside from the typos, grammar, and capitalization.the story is a bit weak. I really wanted to like this story, but I just couldn't get into it. The story didn't go anywhere, there was no angst, suspense.I wanted to know who was doing it but it just fell flat.
