Five years ago, Wolfe Montgomery made a mistake. His young wife learned the truth of how he’d lied and manipulated her to get what he wanted. She left him—and he didn’t chase after her. Now she is back, demanding a divorce. Gone is his sweet, placid wife, and in her place is a woman fighting for her freedom from his name.
He won’t give it to her. She will remain his wife.
Rachel fell in love hard, but learning that the Wolfe she knew was a lie broke her. They share a son, but she hasn’t seen her husband since that fateful night. Only now, to finally get free, she has to face him.
Wolfe won’t take no for an answer. He’s determined to win her back.
Five years is a long time to be apart. Rachel had hoped she didn’t love him anymore. She should hate him. He lied to her. She fell hard for him, and now with him back in her life, it’s next to impossible to deny him, especially when it is what she wants as well.
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
"Asshole Husband" is the story of Rachel and Wolfe.
Our heroine's first day after marriage turns into a nightmare when she realizes her dearest husband, who wooed and courted her married solely for financial gain from her father. She decides to leave him after telling him that he can keep the money but should leave her alone. She soon finds out she's pregnant, and allows the hero to be part of their son's life occasionally. But when he finds the heroine having a male friend, the hero returns with blazing guns, to dirty talk and win his wife and child back. The rest is predictable.
Annoying, anger provoking and eyeroll worthy story. Wanted to shake both the hero and heroine. Idiots.
o.5 stars. --SPOILING THIS BOOK FOR YOU (You can thank me later)--
Sam Crescent, you should really stop labelling your books as romance. THIS ISN'T ROMANCE. THIS IS EMOTIONAL ABUSE!!! The guy is a major ...(calling him anything is an insult to that thing), so he marries the heroine for some part of the business because he wants to help all the 'poor' people who are suffering under the girl's father's reign (Lol). When the girl finds out why he married her she is obviously devastated and chooses to run away only to find out that she is pregnant. So for whatever stupid reason she remains married to him all while staying somewhere else and the husband being the motherfucking asshole he 'fake' (yeah right) dates a lot of models (this pretty much beats the purpose of him wanting it to look like they have the perfect marriage) and when the girl finally decides that she has had enough of his bullshit she files for divorce only to have him black mail her into taking the son away from her...like WHAT WAS EVEN THE POINT?! All he had to do was admit he did eventually actually fall in love with her. That's all he had to do but NO- Douchebag here decided to threaten to take the KID THAT SHE GAVE BIRTH to away. He wants to have his cake and eat it too (It doesn't work that way moron!) He finally admits on live t.v to loving her and this becomes viral (Gods, how jobless do you have to be to get involved in some random business man's love life? Since when does that become breaking news. Oh you remember that guy, yeah the dude who bought the land to help people all while ruining a naïve girl's life and then dating random people all while being married to her, yeah him, he ACTUALLY loves her. Yeah can you believe it? So much more important than global warming and its impacts). He gives this huge speech which honestly seems SUPER scripted on how he too was depressed when she left (then why didn't you go after her? huh, why? WHY?)and then its a HEA. Whatever
Alot of angst between this separated married couple.. Rachel thought Wolfe loved her she was happy in love on their wedding night until she heard him talking that he never cared for her and just wanted a spot on her family board. Now shes hurt and tries to leave but he wont let her.. until she says they can stay married but be seperated... Wolfe agrees for the time being knowing she come around..
5 years have passed and he had a PI follow his wife and only gets to see his son weekends.. until she stops by asking for a divorce.. he wont give it to her shes his tell death to they part.. Lots of tension, fighting and angst... also a single dad who cant take no and back off my wife hint..
So what annoyed me about this it takes him foreverrrr to come clean and tell his wife he never messed around since they been separated for 5 years... BUT to me he still sorta cheated he still went out with these woman on dates for work... he didnt kiss or fucked any.. but still took them out. Also it took him 5 years to finally man up and go after her???
Angst, No Om drama slight om drama, sorta cheating, drama, sexy times, was a virgin (she gave it to him)

This story really got on my nerves. The husband lives up to his title. They are separated 5 years. He was on about how he kept up appearances of still being together for the media etc so it didnt affect his business then she says she's seen pictures of him on dates with other women... contradiction, didn't really make sense. In the time of separation they are both celibate, though he's cagey with that information and doesn't clear it up for some time despite the heroine mentioning it a few times. He leaves it 5 years then when he thinks another man is interested he decides to get back together... spoilt child looses his favourite toy comes to mind. The heroine with stands the physical attraction and the Hero's attempts to have sex with her for a time and I really admired her for it as he is really despicable at times but then she gives in. And apparently he does love her so it's okay. I love reconciliation marriage storylines but this one was too much for me. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. HEA. Apparently.
Hero was indeed an asshole but at least he was a faithful asshole! I liked his jealousy and possessiveness. I liked that they were both celibate for 5 years but the bickering went on and on. Cute epilogue with 3 kids.
This book ended up at approx 150 pages which makes it near impossible to rate higher than three stars! A woman/virgin marries. A man she is in love with to find out that he didn’t love her he only married her for her inheritance or place on the board of her fathers business. There were not enough pages to allow the husband a believable redemption. To help a reader understand why he said what he did. To believe him when he states he didn’t have sex with anyone else. To understand why it took him five years to realize he loved her. 🙃
The writing was terrible, one grammar mistake after the other. Sometimes I wasn’t sure what the main mc’s meant to say. The story itself was not that bad, but it didn’t keep me interested for long, I read this short book over a period of weeks, that sums up how I feel about the book. I felt like it wasn’t ending even though it was so short and normally if I like a book, I don’t want it to reach the end!
Safety: Both main characters are faithful to each other over the 5 years of separation. The H changed all of a sudden when he didn’t in 5 years or 5 years ago and H is h’s only lover. H has no mistress during the separation.
In my humble opinion this story is so, soooo poorly written, that is just blow my mind ( but not in a good way I can assure you). It could be so much better if the writer didn't just try to make a male character so BAD and manipulating, and the female so week and not sticking for herself...Well,in three simple words: not my cuppa
While this was okay, it's not my favorite of this author. I just couldn't connect with Wolfe. He was a jerk and I honestly did my best to like him but just couldn't. And Rachel, I wish she wouldn't have taken him back so fast. Maybe I'll read it again at some point and see if I feel any different about things. Very seldom do I give reviews like this but I just couldn't give it more stars but I will continue to read Ms. Crescent because I believe she is an awesome author!!!
This book was really a 2.5 read so I went back and forth about whether to give 2 or 3 stars.
The story had great potential and was well-written, but there is no getting around the Hero being a jerk. Not a jerk you love despite his jerkiness but a jerk you hope ceases to be part of the heroine’s life. A jerk who needs to be written out. Or written with obvious growth, maybe? Also, there was no groveling and, believe me, a lot was needed.
I could not stand the hero. Personally I don’t think he redeemed himself for me. He claims he didn’t cheat.... he was photographed with multiple women out to dinners. At the very least it was emotional cheating. If you are doing something that you yourself would not like your spouse to do.... say taking other men out to dinner as a date , then it’s cheating. He was a bulldozer, she didn’t want him in her space but he moved right in, she wanted a divorce, he said no and went out of his way to get her back, some thing he should of done 5 years earlier. If she had never approached him with the divorce decree who knows how long he would of waited to go after her.

He Knows What He Wants... And He's Not Back'n Down!
So He's an @.$.$.Hole Husband, at least he's unrepentant about it! This way He can claim his wife when She comes ask'n for a Divorce... And what a Wild Ride they're in for as their feelings come pouring out! I love Sam Crescent & how her writing wraps Fantasies into the perfect HEA's with Curvy Gals, HEAT, Drama, Hunky Characters (Ohhh Yes, Bring on those Alpha Males!), & all the feels we crave in Smexxy RoMANce~ Sigh, Cry, Beg, Cheer, & in the End Always, ALWAYS Plead for More!
I could not put this down Truly enjoyed the story Wolfe totally was a jerk to his wife Rachel It was great to see him scheme and then basically grovel and reveal the true person he was!!!
With a title like “asshole husband” how could I NOT read it? Whenever this author writes a book with a virgin heroine, I’m down for it, and add in a title like that, and I’m jumping in with both feet. I was expecting the hero to be an asshole, including cheating, but he was actually pretty decent with only asshole sprinkled on too for some flavor. I’ve certainly read far worse—and by the end, he was a total cinnamon roll with the heroine.
AND—he was faithful during separation, so win-win!
This was a pretty fun read and I enjoyed it.
Safe. Hero was a manwhore before heroine but was faithful during separation. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to her hero.small OM drama which heroine doesn’t reciprocate, no real ow, No cheating or sharing or abuse. HEA with epilogue
Most of the books I’ve read by Sam Crescent I really like and then there are others that I think she just phoned them in. I love books where the h is manipulated in some way to marry the H and then he reveals his true self. This had so much potential but it was severely lacking and some of it was beyond far fetched. Wolfe Montgomery didn’t really bother me, my main problem was Rachel was so childish. She was supposed to be down to earth and simple despite her rich family but she came off like a spoiled child.
Rachel must have said or thought his whole personality was a lie at least twenty times. She mentions several times how he is constantly being photographed with numerous models & actresses yet no one in the town she moves to which is right outside the city ever questions her about it ? For five years after she leaves they continue to be married acting as if things are fine yet no one in town has ever met Wolfe or seen him around town. There was just too much bullshit to overlook.
Plot: Rachel believes she has met her soulmate in Wolfe, and they marry. On her wedding night, though, she overhears him on the phone, telling an associate that basically he tricked her in to marrying him because of her father's company and she was too dumb to know any better. She leaves, but she is pregnant from their one time together. She makes it so that they co-parent, but she has nothing to do with him. Then she serves him with divorce papers, and he refuses to sign. He decides that he's going to win his wife back.
Character development: Well, the title is accurate. I felt that he made too big of a deal of telling her over an over that of course he was an a$$hole, while at the same time telling her that they would be together. Not a great salesman! But his speech at the end of the book, where he is caught on TV, that was a pretty good grovel, so I forgive him.
Part of a series: no
Would I read more from this author/in this series: Yes
Found this book and wanted to see how many chapters it had but instead found the prologue and started to read. I told myself I would only read the prologue and then read the rest another day, but I went from the prologue to chapter 5. Mentally I said, "Ok, this book could do with a few improvements. I will stop after this chapter and come back and finish it another day." Yeah, once I finished that chapter, I felt compelled to keep going. It never felt right to stop at the middle of a chapter or at the end of any chapter. I finished the book in a couple hours. It was not bad, but it was not my favorite. I was not a big fan of Wolfe. I preferred Ryan all the way. And, mentally, I was still stuck on Benjamin giving Wolfe the silent treatment--even after the five years that passed. Don't know what happened there.
second read.... Still baffled by this one. I mean a whole 5 years go by and you're not even attempting to soften up your 'lost love' towards you....I really felt for the h cause she was in a hard place and realized that not only does she still love this asshole but she is literally stuck with him (unless she wants to become a cheater :/). The grovel was half-assed at best...but I still love Sam's books and it was still entertaining enough to pass an hour or so! ------------------------------------------------------------ Totally on the fence with this one. I liked the whole second chance romance and the fact that both were celibate but it was hard to imagine 5 years went by without him making no move to try again...I still didn't feel like he groveled enough at the end
Not as good as I was expecting it to be and considering this is Sam Crescent my expectations were quite high.
Rachel was a complete doormat the whole time and when the two finally got together it felt too easy.
Additionay Im not a big fan of over the top public romantic decelartions because they are so unrealistic and to me just feel impersonel. Seem like a cop out for an author to use.
But I will say the concept of it was good and the cover is great which is what pulled me here in the first place.
Why do I keep buying this authors books? Over £3 for just over an hours reading. Grammatical errors, as usual. Childish and immature storyline. Definitely last book I am going to buy.
English The prologue begins with the wedding night when H and h get married (H is older than h by 10 years); h is asleep and when she wakes up she looks for him. H is talking to a friend telling him that he married h so that he could have a place on the Board of h's father's company, but that he doesn't really love h. She confronts him when H returns to the room and leaves the house where they would live. H gives in on the condition that they make it seem like everything is fine between them even though she lives somewhere else, h agrees. The book continues 5 years later; h&H have a son that came out of the wedding night. The h asks H for a divorce because she wants to rebuild her life and the H decides to win her back. It's a super short book, but for me it had the right touch of jealousy, angst, eroticism, love. I enjoyed the read. I really liked when the H realizes he loves h. I also liked that they were both celibate during the separation, it was a nice touch for my taste.

3.75 Stars This story is short, fast paced and an entertaining read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Rachel’s idea of a fairy-tale marriage after one day of being married. Rachel discovered that her husband wasn’t the man she thought he was. Five years later and Rachel and Wolfe are co-parenting their son but Wolfe is possessive of Rachel and refuses to give her what she wants. I will be totally honest and say that I had mixed feelings about this story. My heart ached for Rachel at the beginning (and throughout the story). I understood why she made the decision she made. I wasn’t a fan of Wolfe. I hated that he was selfish and arrogant. He got what he wanted and he didn’t care about anyone’s feelings. I wanted to shout at him to let Rachel go. At the same time, a small part of me liked how relentless he was. One thing I will say is; I wanted Wolfe to grovel a bit and show his remorse but he didn’t. The chemistry between Wolfe and Rachel is clear to see. When they were good, they were perfect together. That being said, there were times I wanted Wolfe to leave Rachel alone. All Rachel wanted was to be happy and loved. Instead, she had Wolfe who refused to give her the divorce she wanted so badly. The one good thing that came out of Rachel’s one day of happy marriage was her son. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an entertaining read.
Great... if you want to incite the fiery rage of a thousand suns.
This was one of the most infuriating pieces of literature I’ve encountered. Calling the hero of this book an arsehole was an understatement.
In many of your quick-read smut novellas one would typically find their disbeliefs suspended to enjoy these little treasures. Half of that is the joy of reading these stories however... this was just toxic.
The heroine is as compelling as a doormat and I’d wager most would sooner castrate this hero than fall for him. I consider myself a fan of a gruff, moody hero with a heart of gold and the wide-eyed heroine however I could find no such joy. Blackmail can also be a fascinating subject between two romantic leads. Hell, one of my favourite novels uses this perfectly, with compelling and likeable characters. I just couldn’t find it here.
Life experiences can colour one perspective, and my have clouded my own judgement in a way. But threatening to remove a child from its mother, and denying your wife (who you have been separated from for the past five years) the freedom to move on from a painful, mayhap traumatic, time in her life is cruel. I just couldn’t see any redeemable qualities in the title character.
Overall two stars out of five because, regardless of her doormat status, the heroine was somewhat enjoyable as a mother.

He was manipulative throughout the whole story. Even at the end as the author tried to redeem him. I just didn’t see any turn around in him. He was the same and had not changed. Plus I didn’t feel like the author had really made Wolfe love Rachel from the beginning. I think it was a conquest for him and he eventually talked himself into loving her.
Otherwise, I did enjoy this story. I loved the intensity of the romance. I loved the obsessive quality of the relationship. I totally go for the “knock her up to keep her” trope. I would have liked if this was truly a secret baby theme as described in the blurb, but it wasn’t. No biggie, it had plenty of other qualities that I liked.
I do have to say that if she GOT pregnant 5 years ago, then 5 years later the child would only be four. Just an FYI on how that works. Smh.
Also, typical of Sam Crescent there was a ton of grammatical and some continuity errors. Besides the child’s age thing that I mentioned above. Enjoy if you can.
