Legacy of Light #2

A War for Truth

Rate this book

Previously published as Legacy of Light.

Dying should have been the end.

Instead, I have a new life, one full of questions.

I don’t remember my life before I took a sword to the chest, but I’m told I was a prisoner of our greatest enemy.

And now they’re coming to reclaim me.

I’m Davion, and I don’t know the kind of person I am. All I know is I have to train. My magic is the only thing that will protect me against what’s coming.

Yet, I see her, this girl who should be my enemy. She’s in my head, refusing to let me go.

So, I wait for her to come. I long to see the look on her face when I capture her. Rissa Renauld won’t see me coming.

Or, maybe it’s the other way around.

Because some part of me knows I don’t belong here. That maybe my place is on the other side of this war.

A wonderfully written and complicated quest set in a rich world inhabited by unforgettable people. This second book in the series takes our characters deeper into a world of danger. A small group of companions set out on a quest to restore magic to their realm. The group has grown since the start and has suffered devastating loss. But things are not as they seem. This band of seekers will come face to face with the evil that stole the magic and left their world in despair.

Trystan and Rissa watched as their childhood friend willingly gave his life to protect them. For Trystan it was the loss of a brother. For Rissa it was much more. She lost the only man she truly loved. It has left the brother and sister each broken in their own way.

But things are not as they seem. Davi, the loved one the siblings lost, was raised with them in the palace. All of the family knew that Davi was an orphan. The royal family was his only family. Yet that was all a lie, something even Davi himself didn’t know.

His true identity is much darker. Davi is the son of the monarch of the neighboring realm, and the man that is responsible for the loss of magic their land suffers. Through Davi’s eyes, with the help of blood magic, the king has kept watch over his enemies. When Davi died, his father’s soldiers brought him back to his father. The king drained magic all around his palace to return his son to life. Davi’s memory was wiped away and new memories of being held captive for fifteen years, tortured and imprisoned in a cell, were implanted.

Will Trystan and his companions be able to reunite the Tri-Guard and restore magic to his people? When they rescue the final Tri-Guard member from the evil king’s palace, will they come face to face with their lost brother? Will they succeed or will Davi bring about their downfall?

A spellbinding sequel with as many twists, turns and intrigue as the first. Trystan and Rissa whilst on their quest discover their fathers death. They also find out many other things including that their actions have been directed by their sworn enemy for a very long time. They find Davi but not as they know him. A fantasy thriller well worthy of your time to read full of magic and mystery. Looking forward to the climax of this trilogy.

Book 2

Book 2 was a fun read and had a few errors. The overall plot and characters have developed well. The overall story is a little predictable, but overall fun to read. I look forward to book 3.

I liked it, the first book was a lot better. The height of the story was fast paced and happened really quickly. To be honest I felt like it was missing something

Well-developed, consistent characters. Sometimes the language felt to modern, but would be consistent with a group of teenagers/young adults.

I'm really enjoying this saga. It's been a hot minute since I've continued reading past book one in a series, but I started book two immediately after one and book three immediately after finishing this one. Kudos to the author and her characters!
