When his mission is shut down from political pressure, deniable MI5 operative Alex King seeks revenge for a team member and takes on the man responsible. But in Washington DC, the political landscape changes so quickly that his enemy is now more powerful than anyone could have imagined.Secret Service agent Rachel Beam has been given a sensitive case without the usual hierarchy protocols. As she digs deeper, what at first looks like a rogue MI5 agent committing a crime spree on US soil, seems more like someone creating a trail and sending a message. But for whom? From the streets of Washington DC and the home of the Secret Service, to the wilds of Alaska and its remote gold mining country, King has to stay one step ahead of a tenacious agent and an assassin who will stop at nothing to put a stop to his pursuit for retribution.

William Standing was a leader in the war in Iraq...Until his greed took over! Then he murdered his whole unit by calling in an air strike...Just so he could take the millions in gold for himself..He worked his way into Congress, and is now running for president..A few people have questions about what exactly happened in the war, and when a reporter digs too close he soon is killed in a 'robbery'...Can Alex King take care of the man who ordered his team attacked...Killed Marnie and now two more who were on that mission?! Just watch him give it his best!!!
A stunning criminal, the ease he removes M15 from the process , and makes it into the White House as the American leader!! Well what an adventure This is going to be...A smart, quick-moving story with action, suspense, wrongs and rights...And a man who will do All he can to right that wrong!
The ninth Alex King book holds your attention as well as the first, as our hero and his team of friends work out what to do next! Another amazing story in this series!!

Yet another Alex King masterpiece

This is the ninth in the Alex King series. Each has been better than the last and “Rogue” is no exception.

Willard Standing has crossed swords with Alex and his team in the past, but much has occurred in the intervening period during which time Standing has been elected to the highest office in the land. King wants revenge for Marnie’s death and although he has been stood down by MI5, for political reasons. that in no way means that he won’t pursue his quarry. This is, therefore, the story of how he goes about the task.

Having read each book in the series, it’s clear that this novel is slightly different from the others but no less enjoyable. Bateman himself has admitted that the body count in this thriller is much lower than in previous books in the series so that the focus is maintained on the principal target. Unlike some other writers, Bateman’s writing is not formulaic. The reader knows exactly what to expect but it’s always delivered in a way which is fresh end enjoyable.

There is an evident maturity about the way in which, in this story, King does not have to always feature in the action even though he is the thread which binds the plot together. There is a confidence about the way in which the old team is able to take centre stage without any danger of losing the reader’s interest. And yes.......the old team is back in one form or another even if some of them can be viewed as being on the opposite side. Subplots therefore abound and combine to culminate in an explosive final few pages.

I can’t wait for the next one!

Exceptioal

It is 4.05 a.m. here and I've just finished this brilliant book. I do not generally suffer from insomnia but in the occasion it has been caused by wanted to continue to read this book to the end. The lack of sleep was worth it. Great storyline that would work as a stand alone (loved the clever way the author included the background at the beginning of the book) but I think it's better to have taken the Alex King journey from Book 1 through the series. Goodnight.

Another great King read

Action, twists and turns in the plot. Keeps you guessing what's coming next! Sadly, A continuation of poor proofreading. One can get used to British spellings and phrases...kind of cute. But typos abound! Please hire a proofreader? I gave you plenty of corrections...but you owe it to future readers to clean all your books up professionally!

Great

When being specific about locations and groups author should know his facts. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints(also known as the Mormons) do not add extra names to their religion’s name. (Baptist of St. whatever). They also do not have donation boxes for their tithes and offerings. They also have nothing to do with disrespecting women and/ or children

Classy ending

It was a great read with a clear plot that seemed so predictable right up until it wasn't. I love the subtle hints and unassuming fillers that turn out to be great reveals. Always a good little twist in there too!

entertaining and unusual

Yet again there are twists and moves within the storyline to keep you hooked. The only reason that this wasn’t a five star review was there is a certain predictability about it.

Good read all the way through

Not too heavy, good detailing and nice pace to the story. Mainly believable although slightly outrageous. But that's the thrill of this kind of story.
Can't wait for the next book. 😎
