Jax I have a big happy family connected by blood and love. I had sworn off women for the last couple of years because of what one female had done but then she walks in. She’s a natural brunette that has hair down her back and a body that dreams are made of. I fell hard, then one unpredictable disaster struck. How do I make it right again? Ria After a very troubled past, I am content with my life. Through love of family and counseling I pulled myself out of the darkness. I finally meet the man of my dreams and then the unthinkable happens. Ghosts from my past have come back to haunt me. Is it real or just coming from my subconscious? Can I trust myself enough to let Jax into my life, or are we both to damaged? Do I trust my ‘dream man' to save us both?
Happily married with grandbabies too. I live in a town along the Ohio river bed in the great state of Kentucky. We sit each year on the riverbanks to see the fireworks. I love what I am able to do. It doesn't always come easy but the voices always come back telling me what to write.
I didn’t know where this was going when it started with one story and then jumped forward that I got confused for a minute but I’m glad I kept going. This was a very good first time novel from this author and looking forward to more.
This was a good read i really enjoyed the story line until towards the end of the book and i got a bit confused on a few things. I found that certain parts were a bit wishy washy and were rushed and some didn't make sense to the story line .but its got great potential and i will definitely read the next book in the series.
Ok, so this book is the first for this author, and it was good. The characters were likable and the secondary characters left me wanting more of them- something I love in a book! The main characters had this insta- love connection that was felt through the pages and Jax was very alpha male- swoon!! Now, the part I don't like about reviews... I had set the book down because I was sick- when I started reading again I had to go back because I was very confused! I knew what I had read, and where I had left off... I felt like there was something "missing"- in fact I thought maybe I was reading a different book. Although the beginning was important and set the stage, the leap from where childhood stopped and adulthood started didn't work for me. The storyline of each "part" was good, but the flow together, for me anyways, was just off. With the exception of this flow issue and the confusion on the story it brought, I REALLY enjoyed the book! I liked the bantering with the secondary characters- in fact these were awesome, the neighbor and "brother" especially! And I would love to know what happens with the characters introduced in this book!
Wow! What an amazing debut book for Author Penny Anglene. I absolutely loved Jax, I mean who doesn't love an alpha hottie with a heart. The book is well written with a good story line. Penny did a great job of giving the back story, plus including other characters point of view with about giving to much or not enough. She found a great balance that as a reader I definitely appreciate. There was humor, passion, angst, and some smartassery! She also gave us a little MC mixed with some tattoo shop love. Do yourself a favor and check this one out. I think great things will come from this new author. I can't wait to see what's next....
Ok, where do I start: I generally liked the book both the story and the characters, which is a great start for a new author. Of course anytime someone is just starting out there is room for improvement. The story, which was overall enjoyable, was a little slow going at times and towards the end it seemed rushed. That being said I definitely want to know what is in store for some of the side characters that were introduced in this book.
For a first time author I fee like Penny killed it! From the prologue it had me hooked. Jax and Ria are your H/h that you just can’t stop wanting more. You have all these supporting characters that you become linked with and wanting to know their story. Also holy emotion rollercoaster. I mean nail biting emotions, but it was so good you welcomed it and wanted more!!!
Like I said read it, devour it, and be ready for more. Great job Penny I can’t wait to see what else you gift us with!
I enjoyed the story line greatly. Jax and Ria are really good together. But it seems at times the events of the story is rushed and jumbled together. I will definitely keep following this author and look forward to more books in this series.
I got this book after a book recommendation. What can I say except I loved it. The story was gripping and made you feel for the main characters. Penny has created a world I hope to visit again.
This was my first book by this author. I liked the characters, and the cover is amazing. For me, it was a pretty quick read, that i was definitely hooked from the beginning. I can't wait to see what is next!
Good story. A few places I felt where a bit repetitive as we there was several points of view. The book does talk about some tough topics.I Will be checking out the next book .
This story was awesome easy read. Definitely a must read. I cant wait to read what is to come. These characters are awesome. And its an awesome twist of bike and the ink world.
I absolutely loved this first book I’ve ever read from Penny. I can not wait to get some of the others stories. Had some much wit to it.. keep up the great work!
I think Penny absolutely killed it for being her first book. The characters were well developed, the storyline was great. I couldn’t put this book down. I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next.
Love Ria and Jax's story. Love the connection between the two of them. Keep the tissues handy while reading. It may cause triggers for some who have been abused but the author done a great job in writing about the topics. Can't wait to read more books in this series.
Whilst I enjoyed this book, I was a bit lost when I first started reading it. It kind of jumped around a little bit too much for my liking, but I did enjoy the story line towards the end. Well done on your first novel.
This was a fantastic first book by this Author . The flow is really good it's not a long book which is great you can devour it in no time at all, from the first chapter it had me i just had to keep reading to see what had happened to Ria and Debbie. When Ria meets Jax you now the fireworks are going to be big and you want the happy ever after for them.I cant wait to see what adventures Penny takes us on in her future books .
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this story from a brand new author. The characters had me pulled in to their story and I was needing to know that next step. Ria and Jax have this intense connection from the start. Ria has been through things that no one should and you can feel how that journey has changed her and my heart went out to her, over and over. The emotion is real. I feel this is a start to a series that will be great. I am looking forward to more.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
What a wonderful book I truly enjoyed reading Jax I couldn't put it down. The idea of a friend convincing her other friend to help her get out of her shell means alot to me as I have been the friend that needed prompting. This is the first book I have read by this author and it kept me on the edge of my seat with wanting to know what next.
Book one is this series introduces you too Jax and his family and Ria. This and her friend Debbie was kidnapped as young girls and are left with baggage. But can the two hurt people find love and peace in this newest book.
Penny Anglene is a debut author and I quite enjoyed her first book, Jax. Ria has a rough patch in her past, one that causes nightmares but didn't rob her of her spirit. Jax has taken a few hits in his past, has a few scars. I would have loved to have more of his viewpoint in the story. We get a bit later on but throughout would have been awesome. At the start, the bones of the plot feel familiar but Ms Anglene puts a unique spin on it. I loved the connection between Jax and Ria, the relationship they built. I finished this story in about 24 hours, needing to get to that happy ever after. After that ending, I immediately bought the sequel, Samantha. I needed more of these characters, asap. 4 stars for Jax and Ria!
This is the first book I have ever read from this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a good story that had some meat to it. It just feels like there are a few things still hanging out there like what is going on with Debbie, Ria's best friend? Hopefully we will find out more in future books. She introduces quite a few interesting characters that could definitely have their own story line. It will be interesting to see if she keeps the books intertwined/crossover or if they are all more of a separate story. Personally I hope for the former. All in all it was a quick, good and interesting read. I will definitely keep an eye out for her books.
This is the first book I’ve read by Penny and I really enjoyed it. Ria has had a very hard time when something happened to her when she was 15 and then she had a bad relationship, so she doesn’t trust herself. Jax is a tattooist and he meets Ria when her best friend makes her an appointment. The connection these two have is instant, but they have both been hurt and have guarded hearts. There is suspense, action and some twists that shocked me. I loved these two and when Ria opened up, my heart broke for the hurt and pain she dealt with. She is a survivor. I loved this storyline and the characters I met. I hope to read more of the characters.
Let me jump right in by saying I really enjoyed this book. Ria has been through a lot in her life and has a very hard time trusting strangers, Jax also has trust issues due to his last relationship. I love the chemistry between Jax and Ria. I like how this book touches on a traumatic subject without going overboard. This book really has it all with love, action, and drama.
The author’s words flowed well and kept me turning the pages. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but this book definitely has some twists and turns along with a few surprises. This is the first book of Penny Anglene’s that I have read but it won’t be the last.
