Ava Richardson writes epic page-turning Young Adult Fantasy books. She creates lovable characters and drops them into intricate worlds that are barely contained within your eReader. Ava has written 21 YA dragon fantasy series, including her bestselling series Return of the Darkening and her recent series, Destia's Dragon Shifter War.

She grew up on a steady diet of fantasy and science fiction books handed down from her two big brothers – and despite being dog-eared and missing pages, she loved escaping into the magical worlds that those authors created. Her favorites were the ones about dragons; where they’d swoop, dive and soar through the skies of these enchanted lands.

😭😭😭😭😭😭

The conclusion. Absolutely beautiful. I honestly have no words. After following the characters over three books, almost 1500 pages, all of their struggles all coalesce into this stunning conclusion.

Absolutely marvelous. This is on my list of most favorite series.

Excellent

This book was an excellent conclusion to the trilogy. The characters were well defined and developed as the plot progressed. A few minor spelling and grammatical errors were the only detractors. Well done!!

So when the third book was available from NetGalley, I had to read it and finish the series.

This is not a terrible book, but neither is is great. Its very simple, in the sense that the characters are trying to act mature but most of their logic is teenage logic. Once again all the grownup are like slightly older teens with far too much power. So they are stupid, mean, and stubborn about it.

The world building....feels very small and unimportant. I mean I knew where we were, and what things looked like but that's about it. It lacked atmosphere and felt more like a stage rather than a real place.

There was a big plot hole and yes I'm going to go into it because this is a wrap up of the third and final book. You should not be reading this if you have not read the first two.

Anyway, there is this big deal about dragon oaths. They cannot be broken. Unless you take a potion that kills you but instantly brings you back, with the side effect of not managing the second part. Because dragon oaths are till death kind of deals. And the story hinges on this. Ether her big bad father took the potion to take off all the dragon oaths and was thus able to impregnate her human mother (something he'd under oath not to do) or he does not and that's how he's still bonded to his trainer....but then how did he manage to have a daughter? Because he's still bonded to his trainer who's sucking the power out of him all these years. This makes no sense. One of these big things cannot happen. Its one or the other, both can't exist at the same time!

The solution to the prophesy was obvious the moment we heard about it. You just get married. The end. But they spent more than one book going on and on about how 'impossible' it is. And then what exactly happened to change this impossible thing, to a possible? um...she's a really, really powerful dragon, so its good for the kingdom and this will make her dad happy? ...yeah. But all he had to do was just grow a pair and make that choice. He just had to say this is going to happen and stand up to his mom. Do you see how silly this is? BUT we didn't even get that in a scene, just a summery. We never got to see him FINALLY stand up about this choice. We never saw his mom ague against it.

I felt no emotion reading this book, except for the bits about her standing up to her dad, and that's just cause I'm a softy for big bad evil dragons loving their daughters. Its sweet, even if the reason he turned bad was childish. Well, the betrayal was real but only someone with the logic and emotional maturity of a teen would then turn into the biggest bad. I don't stand behind things being so simple just because its written for YA. Aim higher please.

Over all it was an ok read because I wanted to wrap it up. I knew there would be no surprises and there weren't any. The characters loved their country so much...which was just so robotic to my mind. They were earnest and noble and would do quite a lot of dramatic things for honor... yeah ok, I'd have probably just found a less dramatic way to go about it. I get having principles but your actions are usually based on knowledge and belief, rather than feelings. And this books was all feelings the characters felt, but which failed to resonate with me.

I can't understand why, after being saved by her, the others continue treating bad and accusing our heroine. It's true, she's Mordon's daughter, but her actions paint a different picture than that and it's being conveniently ignored in favor of creating an artificial drama. And the way the school elders treat their pupils............

And that's a real shame, because the main story is really good, and that forced drama distracts from it.

I've barely read the first chapter and I'm already aggravated.
These characters are ridiculous. Too stupid to live.
And the adults are moronic to the point that defies belief.
It's just all too ridiculous and unrealistic.

This was definitely the best series yet by this author. I hope to see future stories set in Averia with their unique dragon and dragonbloods.

Dragon Throne by Ava Richardson is the third book in the Alveria Dragon Akademy series. Kaelan and Lasaro continue to work together (even as they know they cannot be together) to sSave the school and the kingdom. Many are against them including parents, teachers, students pretty much everybody even themselves.

I have read and enjoyed books by Ava Richardson in the past, so I was more than willing to read this book. Realized I had not read the books in the series but figured I could survive. I am going to be honest; I did not finish this book. The reason I did not finish is because I figured the ending in the first two chapters. The solution was way too easy to the main problem. I read the last three-ish chapters and I was right. After that I had no desire to read the book. Even so the five chapters I read had good flow, the characters had personality, there were intriguing components (the tapestries and oaths), and the world was built. Well this was a DNF this was all in my head in needing a little bit more of a challenge and not being in the right head space. I also would have been more committed if I had read the first two books.

Final verdict is 2.5 stars rounded up to 3. I could tell it was well written, but it was an obvious solution so I couldn’t read it. Since I willfully did not put in the effort I cannot give it less than 3 because I maybe recommend it if you have read the other two books. Thank you to NetGalley, Ava Richardson and Relay Publishing for a free copy. This was an honest review.

I received a free copy of THE DRAGON THRONE (Book 3 of Alveria Dragon Akademy) by Ava Richardson from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This appears to conclude the Alveria Dragon Akademy series. The dragons of Alveria are still recovering from the dragon sickness of the last book. Kaelan Younger, who saved them all, only had brief respite from the hatefulness and the bullying. It’s back. As it becomes increasingly clear that their neighboring kingdom of Unger cannot be dissuaded from full-scale invasion, the Akademy counsel goes into full denial, and the queen makes a last attempt to form diplomatic ties by promising to marry two of her three surviving children to relatives of the Ungarian king. Meanwhile, a rogue dragon is terrorizing the countryside, the capital city, and the palace. The populace is in rebellion, and Kaelan’s father is up to his old tricks.

I was happy to get a chance to read this ARC. I enjoyed the story although I thought it was a little rushed toward the end. The war with Unger and the aftermath was basically a summary. Though they discovered the cause of the unhatched dragon eggs, there was no progress made in rescuing the sad little creatures. Still, I enjoyed the series and this book. I recommend it!

I received this novel from net galley and the publisher. Thank you!
The conclusion to the Alveria Academy series was amazing! It brings together the past and present. Many discovers are made, including the developing war with Unger, which has to do with the past. Kaelan Younger needs to learn and understand her father, Mordon, before the Akademy and Alveria fall and her love and dragon, Prince Lasaro, comes to a horrible fate. She does what she wants, having abilities that she needs more control over. Prince Lasaro wants to save all his people, dragons and humans. He still feels betrayed by Kaelen for keeping secrets about her father, yet cannot stop loving her. Yet, forgiveness is much more challenging to do. Kaelen and Prince Lasaro discover things about the enemy, but the dragons at the Akademy want nothing to do with the human war as they call it, preferring to be in ignorance. When Prince Lasaro's mother makes a decision about the kingdom, it has a huge impact on Prince Lasaro and Kaelen. To save the kingdom they both love, Kaelen will have seek help from her father, who has his own plans and wants Kaelen on the throne. To save Alveria, Kaelen will have to find her inner dragon.

Whispers of war become a battle cry in this epic series finale. Invasion is imminent. Skirmishes have erupted all across Alveria’s borders, but the lingering effects of the sickness have left the dragon guard weakened. Unprepared for a strike at the heart of the kingdom, difficult alliances must now be made to protect them all. Circumstances at the Akademy are no better. Their only hope to stem the tide of war is to find the long-forgotten Standing Stones and harness its ancient power. It is there that Kaelan and Lasaro’s love will face the greatest test. Circumstances at the Akademy are no better. Kaelan Younger’s attempts to learn more about her renegade father and the Terra dragon fighting for the enemy are complicated by tapestries that refuse to reveal their secrets. And when the queen’s efforts to stop the war involve Prince Lasaro, Kaelan is forced to confront the growing feelings she has for her dragon. And one will make the ultimate sacrifice.
Somehow I didn’t realize this was the third and final book in a series, so I was a bit lost. It was an ok story. I think I would’ve liked it better had I read the other 2 stories.

*4.5 stars*

This was such an amazing end to the trilogy. Some of it I was able to predict from the first book, but it was still satisfying to read. I am glad that the series ended here, as much as I’m sad that I finished this series, I feel like any more books would’ve been dragged it out for too long. The main reason this isn’t a five star for me is that I feel like there was some points brought up that kind of feel short, like they were built up just to be nothing.

I still love all the characters, even the sassy side characters. I do wish we could’ve gotten to know the other characters more, I don’t think they have as much depth as the main two.

All and all, I enjoyed the series as a whole. It’s not too overwhelming and I feel like it is perfect for me right now. The series was easy to follow along, but not so much that it was boring. I also would like to read more of Ava’s work in the future, I love her writing in this series.

FtAn epic conclusion for this trilogy. I am so glad I read it. This one answered all the lingering questions.
Kaelen is still trying to succeed at the academy but now that everyone knows who her father is, it's hard. She faces accusations and accusing glares from some of the students still. Lasaro has saved her from menacing students before and she is still worried for her father. Even though he put a dragon bond on her to try to force her to take the throne, she still cares for him because she had just found him. After all the years he was absent in her life she still wanted to believe she could bring out the good in him. She also believed there was a spy in their midst and she also believed the spy was tied to the rogue dragon that a s terrorizing the kingdom. The war was looming closer and she still had to many things to figure out. The worst thing was the fact that Lasaro’s mother, the queen, decreed that he would marry someone else. Such an awesome series.

I rarely have a 5-star rating for books, but I actually gave each book in this trilogy 5 stars (wow, is this me??). I found each book engaging from start to end, and was impressed that the authoress made it a point to end the story well. By well, I don’t mean a happy ending but in terms of the quality of writing. Some authors hit the end and either run out of good content or motivation, resulting in slapdash endings.

I’ve come across a number of books with the same premise of dragon schools and the use of elements to differentiate dragons. I like how the authoress has managed to weave what I feel is still an overall unique storyline around these plus buffer it all with intelligent and believable dialogue. So no, I don’t think this series is groundbreaking with regards to the story or the writing but it made for very enjoyable and entertaining reading for me.

I didn't read the first two books and admittedly this book would be a lot better if you had started from the beginning. However, the author did a great job filling in the necessary information throughout the story to not leave me confused. There was plenty of action, some mystery and yes romance. This is a little heavier in romance then most cozy novels but still nothing explicit so I would place it as a middle school and up level read. I really enjoy the fantasy Dragon based stories and felt this one was unique and a lot of fun, it may have been a little predictable at times but the entertaining way it was written made up for it. The narrator did a great job and I enjoyed listening to it.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

In my review of the second book, I predicted that her "taking the throne" would be through marriage to the prince, and nothing nefarious. This seemed painfully obvious to me from the moment the prophecy was read. It's a little annoying to be right about what I think was intended to be a big twist. Everything in this series is just a little too predictable. The plot meanders for like 3/4 of the book until finally coming to an all too easy and neat conclusion at the very end. Kaelan constantly insisting that she didn't have a dragon form was so incredibly annoying. Once again, girlie cannot get a clue.

Time for the final battle is coming. Kaelan and Lasaro's relationship is developing in the course that no one else wants. Will they survive what is ahead of them?
Some secrets will see light thru the book, but the others will stay hidden almost until the end of the book. Modron's prophecy is something that will go all the way around and there will be some twists.
Secondary characters were really good here, I could feel each of them differently with growing emotions toward each. The plot was going nicely allowing to understand what was going on.
It's a really nice YA novels series.

This was a good ending to the trilogy. We have a war. We have dragons. We have weird family relationships. We have arranged marriages. We have trauma.
And it was so satisfying.
I genuinely enjoyed this trilogy. It was decent. It was nice. I had an emotional connection to the characters because there are few things I like more than characters who can't be together for actual, legitimate reasons and then choose to not be together. I have such a soft spot for couples like that. I love it.
This has such a happy ending. I loved it. I would definitely read more books by this author.

With a very interesting plot and a cast of interesting characters, this book is one of the good ones that I came across this year. The one thing I really liked was that the author kept on unraveling mysteries at various points in the book and kept me totally engaged. There were some very interesting twists at the end and I'm really glad I chose to read this book.

I intend to read this series through.

I got this free as an ARC from NetGalley, and liked it fairly well. The plot was stupendous, especially the end, and the description of the scenery was breathtaking. I particularly liked the world Richardson created.

I did find the pace far too slow and the characters--all of them--too prone to angst. There were a couple of other stylistic things that gave me pause, but overall, this was an enjoyable read.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title.

I think the conclusion to this tale has been obvious for some time, but when royal family and matters of state are concerned, well it has to be complicated.

On saying all this, the story, with both romance and drama included, together with riots, Dragon shifters, healers and off course the Royalty component. Well with that mixture it's bound to be a good story, you say. Wrong, it's a Great story.

The epic finale of this YA fantasy as Kaelan and Lasaro battle the enemy's master dragon. A father found, a powerful enemy named and the bonding of a dragon and his tamer. Lots of secrets and mysteries revealed through the royal tapestries. Very entertaining series.

Amazing!

This was an amazing conclusion to the series! The characters development really showed in this book and I was very pleased with the outcome. This entire series keeps you on the edge of your seat but this last book was the game changer that brought it all together for the ending.

I considered giving this 5 stars. Enjoyable read. Great ending to the book and to the series. Good plot. Touches on some bigger themes. Manages to involve violence and lust in the story without rubbing our noses in them.
However, not a hugely inspiring or change-the-world book, and some revelations are pretty obvious for a good while by the time the book makes them explicit. Four stars.

this followed on well from the first two books and i liked the way it expanded although the back end felt like it could have taken another half dozen chapters and another adventure or two, this series could end here or it could have a few more books but either way it was decent reading
