Hilarious cosy mystery
Lexy, her grandmother, and the friends are all interested in solving a case where Henry has been convicted of murdering his wife. The clue to the real murderer is a muffin!
The story was funny in parts as all the characters are trying to solve the murder admist their own personal lives. The way they get together to solve the murder is hilarious and enjoyable. Liked it.

This is a wonderful cozy by an amazing author. Lexy, Nans and the girls are asked by their friend Muriel to prove her grandson is innocent of killing his wife. This is a much harder case for them as the grandson has already been charged. It is nice hanging out with everyone again and seeing how well the older ladies are staying in shape.

Lexi, and the gang--Nans and her friends--are back. This time they're trying to determine if the police arrested the right person in a murder. Nans' neighbor, Muriel, asks for her help to prove her grandson, Henry didn't kill his wife. The main clue the ladies have to work with is a corn muffin! There was a box of corn muffins on the kitchen counter and Henry says they weren't there earlier that day when he went to work at the hospital.

While investigating who else could have killed Henry's wife, one of the suspects the ladies planned to question is found dead! Did the same person kill both of them? Did the recently deceased kill Henry's wife, so there are two murderers?

In order to find the bakery where this particular type of corn muffin was sold the ladies have to visit the other bakeries in town. These geriatric women should all have clogged arteries and diabetes from the amount of pastries they consume. They (especially Ida) can really put them away, and I don't think yoga burns that many calories. Reading about all the trips to the bakery made me hungry. LOL

Of course Lexy, Nan and the other ladies solve the case. This is a fun, light cozy mystery to enjoy in an afternoon. I own my own ebook but borrowed the audiobook from my library through the Hoopla app so I could listen to it while getting things done.

I have to preface this review by saying that I am just not a "cozy mystery" fan. I've read several and I just don't buy the cutesy people and scenarios, so my so-so reaction to this book is not an indictment of the book or author; it's just not my cup of tea.

Lexy owns a bakery in a small town. Her husband is a detective in the same town. Her grandmother lives in a senior center and she and her three close friends consider themselves private investigators and meddle in police investigations.

The plot revolves around the women's investigation into the murder of the wife of one of the community member's grandson. Muriel is convinced that her grandson would never murder his wife, yet the police have arrested him and he's in jail for the crime. The subplot is that one of the women, Helen, is running for president of the community center and her rival is the grandfather of the deceased woman.

One should never enter a series at #15 and expect to "get" all the characters, setting, etc. The story is engaging, but one lacks the depth of the previous adventures. Guess one shall have to scour some shelves for volume 1.

It's all in the topping.

A great addition to the series. This book was fun and I always enjoy the Ladies of the Detective Agency. A good plot with a surprising conclusion.

Ain't Seen Muffin Yet (Lexy Baker, #15) by Leighann Dobbs follows Lexy Baker, her grandmother, and her grandmother's friends on a case where Henry, the grandson of Nan's neighbor, is accused of murdering his wife. The only clue to the real murderer is a corn muffin with sugar on top.

When I first started reading the Lexy Baker cozy mystery book series, I thought it was cute, and it gave me a nice read when I wasn't in the mood for something heavier. However, I found myself struggling with the latest edition, Ain't Seen Muffin Yet (Lexy Baker, #15). I was forcing myself to finish the book because it just seemed like it was a carbon-copy of the last few books in the series, and it seemed very formulaic. I just so desperately wanted to love it because I was in the mood for a cozy mystery, and it fell a bit flat to me, especially after reading Gemma Halliday and Kelly Rey's Peril in High Heels (High Heels, #11).

What I did notice is that Leighann Dobbs didn't overuse the description of "making yummy noises" when referring to the characters eating and liking a particular food like she normally does, which was a plus in my opinion. Although, she did use the description "yum yum noises", but she only used it once. However, I would like her to branch out on these types of descriptions.

All in all, I was just very disappointed in Ain't Seen Muffin Yet (Lexy Baker, #15) by Leighann Dobbs, and I only gave it two out of five stars. With all of this being said, I will likely buy the next book in the series.

In the 15th Lexy Baker Cozy Mystery, The Ladies Detective Agency, operating out of the Brook Ridge Falls Retirement Center, are knee deep in a murder investigation.
The Ladies ("Nans", Mona Baker, Lexy's grandma; Helen, Ida and Ruth) have been asked by their friend Muriel Maguire, to investigate the death of Rosa Maguire, her grandson's, Dr. Henry Maguire, wife. There is a small problem, however. Henry has already been arrested and is in jail in New Ipswich, where they resided.
Henry has a flimsy alibi and all clues point to him as the killer. Looking through some photos Lexy notices a corn muffin with sugar crystals on top. She believes the killer brought those to Rosa before she was killed.
Helen is thinking more about running against Mario Blondini for President of the Retirement Center. Mario was involved with the Circo Acrobata and Rosa was as well. Rosa was Mario'a granddaughter. All members of the Circo are considered family.
The suspects are many -- Henry, Mario, Endora Saltinado (Mario's girlfriend), William Blondini (Mario's nephew) and Ruby Dewalt (the girl with the snake tattoo identified by Henrys nosy neighbor, Doris Pettigrew.
You will enjoy this book as you read about Rosa's murder; Helen's run for President; Ida's worrying about snacks and of course Jack Perillo, Lexy's husband who is a detective in Brook Ridge Falls.
I received an advance copy of this book. This is my honest review.

Ain't Seen Muffin Yet is Book 15 in the Lexy Baker Cozy Mystery Series. I have read every book and I absolutely LOVE this series. This is one of the best culinary cozy mysteries out there.

Lexy is catering an activity at the nursing home . That's where the action begins.
Nan and her friends now have an official group, "The Ladies Detective Agency" and they are approached to help someone using their unique skills.

I swear the writing in this series gets better and better! The characters are so fun and its so refreshing to read older sleuths that are as sharp as the young ones.

The mystery is multi-dimensional with complex, fleshed out characters.

It is worth the wait for the books in this series because they are so good!!!!

I only read through chapter 8, but I don't care who the killer is, or who the next victim was. Here is why...

Terrible Questions:
"He looked down [at a photo of his murdered wife] and grimaced, clearly affected by the sight of his wife’s body. Was he saddened about it, or did he feel guilty because he’d caused it?"

This is a common type of thing for Lexy to think. Every expression makes her wonder idiotic things (through every book I've read). Was the suspect suspicious of their visit, or was he/she worried a foot would show behind the couch? That's only a mild exaggeration. It becomes maddening very quickly!

Doubtful Baker:
One pastry box contained: an almond crescent, a bran muffin, and a snickerdoodle. If you know anything about certain baked goods, you know that putting them in the same box is a big mistake. Even in a short while, crescents pick up flavors from other foods. I don't know any woman personally who would put these three things together--unless they were only to be eaten by ravenous teen boys--or even then!

A baker said that sugar crystals would have to be sprinkled on cornmeal muffins just out of the oven to stick. Baking gives my cornbread a smooth hard crust. The only way to make sugar crystals stick would be to brush the tops with something like butter. (Even cupcakes should have a dry top immediately out of the oven.)

The word "pastries" is listed 21 times in the first 7 chapters, "pastry" only 6 times. She is incapable of using a synonym.

This just isn't the book series for me. I enjoy some quirkiness, but Lexy and the senior ladies (yes, still flexible because of yoga, we are repeatedly told) think, act, and talk like children. They squirm in their seats, shout out accusations, debate guilt with no information or "clues" worth noting, point things out because they think everyone may have forgotten in the last 20 minutes or so, get dreamy over some creepy guy with "nice eyes," and devour pastries which one woman insists they have for every coffee break and meeting. Some things can be cute on occasion, but not on a continuous loop.

I can't justify the pain of reading any more of these. I'll have to add the series to my Do Not Buy list and remember to check it when I see a pink book cover with a cutesy title.

Lexy is providing snacks for the seniors at Nan's seniors home where one of the ladies are running for president of the facilities.
Nan's group has a consulting group, The Ladies Detective Agency. They are approach by one of the residences to look into a murder because she believes the police have wrongfully arrested her grandson for his wife's murder.
With almost all the clues pointing to the accused, Lexy stumbles upon a clue that could point to Mario, Helen's opponent for president of the retirement village as the actual murderer.
Are the ladies finally on the right track to find the killer? Or are they just leaping to the wrong conclusions.

Love Lexy & The Ladies Detective Agency

I enjoyed another one of the Lexy Baker Mystery series books. Once again Lexy, Nans (her grandmother) & 3 of Nan's friends investigate a murder. This one is different, however, because the police already have the husband in custody.

The 5 of them work to determine whether the husband did do it, or if there is another killer, with a little help from Jack, Lexy's detective husband. They work all the clues till they figure out who the killer is.

I enjoyed it as always!

Corn muffin mystery

The lady detectives are at it again. Enjoyable how their fondness for baked goodies lead them to notice things others might overlook, leading to clues helpful in crime solving. In this case, sugar coated corn muffins in a crime scene photo. Sugar atop corn muffins? Yeah, I would have noticed that, too. Sounds inedible, as one of the bakers they question points out. Anyway, entertaining read, that will more than wet your appetite for fresh baked pastries, & more from this talented writer.

Exciting and intriguing mystery.

Lexy, Ruth, Ida, Nans, and Helen, senior women detectives, were asked to prove that Muriel's grandson, Henry was innocent of killing his wife, Rosa. Jack, Lexy's husband, was a police detective who sometimes collaborated with the senior women detectives. Leighann Dobbs writes her cozy mysteries with a sense of humor and suspense to keep your attention to see what will happen next. It is a delightful mystery that you should enjoy. Happy reading! 😊

I always expect Ms. Dobbs’ books to be great and I definitely was not disappointed with this new “Lexy” book! They just keep getting better and better! I love the young baker/“detective” working with her grandmother and friends to solve crimes. And they solved several in this book! This one was fast-paced, funny, heartwarming and fun. If you like a good solid cozy mystery (that doesn’t make the police look dumb), then you really need to read the Lexy Baker series!

Lexy is catering at the retirement home when, Muriel, a fellow resident, reaches out to the Ladies Detective Agency to help clear her grandson of murder. Nans, Ruth, Ida, Helen and even unwilling Jack, who is Lexy’s husband, is involved to help solve this mystery. I enjoyed the characters and the pace of this mystery was just right! I never suspected a thing til the end. I would recommend it! This is one of my favorite series!

Ain't Seen Muffin Yet is another fun, lighthearted cozy about Lexy and her grandmother, Nans, and other ladies from the retirement home. This time they've been asked to solved a murder when the police have already arrested someone. There are lots of twists and turns, false leads and assumptions, making for a great mystery! Corn muffins

In this mystery, corn muffins plays a key roll in finding the killer. Henry is in jail accused of killing his wife. He is lying about what happened that night.
Lexi and her grandmother and her grandmothers friends are trying to help clear Henry. As they investigate the murder they think they know who it is but...
Leigh Ann has done it again. It is hard to put this book down.

The investigator club at the home has been asked to look into a murder case . One of the resident's grandson has been charged with murder and the grandmother is convinced he is innocent. Corn muffins with sugar on top is one of the clues, so the ladies go hunting at different bakeries in the area. This was another fun, cozy read.
These ladies are always eating which in itself is hilarious.

Entertaining senior citizen detectives

This group of ladies who live in a senior community and solve murder mysteries as a hobby are a fun read. They do manage to suspect everyone except each other on their way to actually finding the real killer. But their quirky behavior and ultimate clever solution to the crime was fun to read about. Looking for an enjoyable read? Then read this.

Lexy Baker cosy mystery

Lexy, her Nan and Nan's friends are on the trail of another murder despite Jack warning Lexy not to get involved in police business. However if left to the police it may never get solved. Lots of twists & turns to keep the reader flipping the pages. Most enjoyable

I read the electronic version of this book via the Kindle app.

This was another cute and cozy mystery. The characters were cute, the storyline went where the reader pretty much figures it will go, and the antics give the reader a short snort of laughter from time to time. I would read more in this series.
