While driving on an isolated stretch of road late at night, Tanja passes a horrifying accident. She hurries back to the scene only to find that the vehicle involved and the pedestrian have both vanished. After a thorough investigation, even the police can find no evidence of a hit and run. However, Sheriff Diekmann seems to recall a similar incident in one of his old cases…
Things get even creepier when Tanja realizes that the man she saw run down that night is the same man who went missing years ago. His body was never found. Suddenly, the Shepherds aren’t sure whether they’re investigating a hit and run or chasing down a ghost.

Joe and Tanja, husband and wife, were private investigators. One dark and stormy night Tanja was driving home along the winding coastal highway from a job when she witnessed a hit and run. Problem was, neither she nor the police could locate the body. She even sent Joe out to look, but no luck.
Tanja just can't let it go and the investigation begins. Did she really see an old man run down and left in the road or was this something else? She needs to know the truth.
book four of the "he said, she said" series is not what I thought it would portray. happily. what it is about is fun, sometimes funny, and very well choreographed. as are all his tales. bad guys are bad guys without all the gore. every case they tackle is a decades old cold one when clues should be nonexistent and eye witnesses should be dead. I've read three of his books into days and I'm heading for the next one. why not follow me?
I stumbled across this author and the title caught my eye the description was great. I really enjoyed this book as it was a fast read where I read it in one sitting. I was mesmerized by what happened and I was not sure how it would end but it was great I can't wait for more.
Tanja sees a hit and run accident on her way home from a case. The only problem is the accident happened ten years earlier. She and her husband began to research the death. Against all odds they find the body and solve the mystery. Great human story! Great author!
Having witnessed a road accident and rushing home to tell her husband after seeing the whole scene disappear in front of her eyes, as private detectives they begin to investigate only to find that the hit and run happened ten years ago and the body was never found. A good unusual storyline well written with believable characters worth a look, Baz.
This short story left a lot to be desired. The couple, Tanja and Joe, are just plain annoying. For a couple that works together they keep a lot of important things from each other. Besides that, they go on about the burden of taking care of their daughter. The mystery was good, but the characters ruined it for me.
In the further adventures of Tanja and Joe Shepherd, Tanja witnesses a hit-and-run, only to discover that the actual event occurred ten years earlier. However, the experience was so vivid that she is determined to solve the case.
Read it in one evening. Good story and nice to catch up with the six foot blond female investigator and the family. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Driving home late one night, Tanja thought she saw a horrific car accident but when she managed to get back to the scene, no one was there. The sheriff remembers a cold case - could it be that Tanja saw a ghost?
If you like a good mystery then this book is for you. Seeing something that happened many years ago and then stumbling upon the evidence to prove who did it was great. You got a fan. Catha Watkins Reese
This was a very unique read as different happenings meld into the storyline. The point of view dialogs at times made this confusing. This was a very clean, quick read.
