A BWWM romance from the author of Vindicated and Bohemian Law
Falling for an enemy is taboo. Falling for a guy who stands for everything you and three generations before you have fought against? Unthinkable. But the day Gunner Cox saved me from a fire was the day my heart no longer belonged to me. It belongs to the damaged and broken boy being dragged down by a monster who shares his DNA.
Race. Hate. War. It’s all I know. Until Tiana Williams enters my life and my heart. Now, I’m done riding the fence between good and evil. I will fight my demons and I will get the girl. Even if it kills me.
Conversion is a standalone BWWM romance that tackles mature themes. It's sexy. It's gritty. It's emotional.

Daring and brilliant—Conversion is a true masterpiece! Misty Walker regales us with a forbidden tale of love in the midst of a social war. She makes us feel for the characters, even when some are heavily flawed. With her well-written words, she weaves a tale that sucks the emotion out of us, drags us through some stressful situations, and has us begging for a happy ending. Five LOVE IS BLIND Stars!
This was fascinating, and the message was really beautiful. I'm glad it didn't linger in certain aspects, and the angst for the relationship was surprisingly low.
Tiana was an angel and so kind and understanding.
However, so of the background plot was... not super fleshed out and felt very rushed at the end.
Gunner was brought up to be a racist - there was no other possibility with his Nazi leader father, the massages he received growing up and the things he was forced to do. he has learned to believe he was a bad person and that he deserved all the bad that had happened to him, that there is no hope and that fear rules but somehow he finds it in him to believe different, be different and act different - his courage to go against everything and everybody he knows' suffer the consequences and start all over on his own account are inspiring!
Tiana comes from a line of strong women - she is very organized; knows what is right, she has her future lined for herself and she speaks her voice but ever she did not expect the faith that awaited her!
we follow both from childhood and i cried for what Gunner's father made him go through and than that fatal day when Gunner saved Tiana from the fire changed their world and mine! against all odds they get to know each other' fall in love and stand up to their families objections, cruelty and hate. they find good people that help and follow them and they make a difference!!
by far it is one of the most important books i have read - because of the subject, because of the courage MW needed in writing it - in a world where fanatical is more vocal - we need voices like hers to know things should and can be different and we can fight and beat hate!!
This story... damn this story... It has a message that needs to be told. I'm glad that author didn't shy away from the hard parts. It was utterly beautiful and somewhat painful. It was a story that was unique and it had to be told. No question. The characters, Gunner and Tiana, were amazing. They made me feel like really bleeping feel. I was so deeply invested in how their relationship was going to go. I was worried that one or the other weren't going to make it. And man... I love the way Gunner loved Tiana. Oh hell... I loved the way Tiana loved Gunner. He used to be a young boy that didn't get any love. He didn't have any one in his corner. For once, he had someone. He had his girl each and every step of the way. Their journey was long but it was worth it. Damn... it was worth it. I'm choking up while writing this. This author got me. She really did.

▪️This is the first book of this author, which I read and after what I experienced during the reading it is certainly not the last!
▪ The book begins with the childhood of #Ganner, a boy who grew up with Dad Psychopath who is also the leader of the Neo-Nazi Parties Dad, who takes a small child and tries to make him the future leader of the movement.
▪ My heart is torn by what Ganner has been through. I admit that I had a hard time reading the deeds and descriptions of what this party is doing. Later, Destiny wanted (leaving you to read how) and Ganner met Tiana.
▪️ # #Tiana is a beautiful and dark-skinned girl. # Ganner is the son of the neo-Nazi partiesl leader. And they fall in love. The storm around the story of their love is burning and many turns and struggles are impossible.
▪ This is a different and unique book, one that kicks hard in the heart. The story sweeps, engages and touches on social issues that are still relevant, issues that exist in our society.
▪ What is my opinion on the book ? must read!!!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐stars Whith love
It is impossible to remain indifferent to this story. In my opinion this is a book especially worth translating! To Hebrew🌹
The plot for tbe story was good, but I didn't like this book. Tiana and her family were too stereotypical. All those "strong" black women and no good black man in sight? Many black couples do get married and many black children are raised by a married mother and father living in the same home. And of course Tiana and Gunner have hot explicit sex ALL the time. They claim to love each other but love and screwing are not the same thing. There is nothing tender, loving, or gentle about their lovemaking. It's vulgar and graphic. So absurd! And of course Tiana follows in her mother's and grandmother's footsteps and has a baby out of wedlock. So stereotypical! I probably sound like a prude, but it infuriates me when I read BWWM romance novels that are full of vulgar sex and stereotypical black women. Black women are more than fatherless, single mother, sex kittens who can only communicate romantic love through sex and vulgar language. Give me a break!! I really want my money back, Amazon!!!
So everyone woman in tiana’s family don’t know/ had the father split. I’m side eyeing the fact that the author felt the need to go this way especially since having any of the men still present wouldn’t have taken anything away from the story.
I don’t get why Tiana never once meant Astro or hinted that he could exist. The way Tiana cut Astro out was weird. And for Gun. Mmkay
Gunner gets the sob story back story and yes he saved tiana but it doesn’t erase the hate crimes he’s committed. I knew I’d feel this way, not sure why I read a book on this topic
Very nice BWWM read. I was moved by the characters created by the author. The story grabbed me right from the beginning. I'll definitely be looking out for more books by Misty Walker.
I understand the concept of the story and I did feel sorry for Gunner because of what he went through, but I just didn’t vibe with this. I honestly felt like Tiana had damsel in distress syndrome because their relationship wasn’t that in depth to me, it was very surface level. For a POC to really overcome Gunner’s very very disgusting and racist past there should’ve been way more conversations and gaining of trust between them. You don’t get over that history because you’re saved and you hang out and talk for a few weeks. White supremacy is a huge problem that takes lives, so regardless if you’re forced into it or not it’s not that easily forgotten. Tiana just “fell in love” and trusted Gunner SO fast based on a few conversations, LOL…unrealistic and a slap in the face for POC who have been hurt by white nationalism.
This isn’t your typical forbidden romance. It is THE forbidden romance. Filled with trials and tribulations from the beginning.
Misty Walker takes us down the path of a very real issue we still deal with in today’s world.
Tiana and Gunner’s love was amazing to see develop and flourish despite all the obstacles thrown their way. The passion between the two was one of a kind. They fought immensely to find themselves and each other. Their HEA was one well and beyond deserved.
I really enjoyed this books and the anxiety it gave me, lol.
I love ...I mean love..really love this book. Omg the emotions that was pulled out of me...it was realistic and touched on a very good subject. Gunn was definitely not a product of his environment and I loved Tiana for sticking with him and not running for the hill like most people would have probably done if was put in that situation. I finish this book in two days. That was how good it was. Started Friday and finish yesterday afternoon. Just couldn’t leave a review until today. Will definitely read more books from this author.
This story hits home it’s 2020 and the world gone pretty crazy but this story shows their can be light in the dark and acceptance if one only looks for it ,ppl are raised in so many different ways and yes that effects us but this story shows that you don’t have to accept that we are not the product of our environment ppl can change ppl can grow This story hits you in the feels with worry , with hate , with admiration then with love bravo misty walker for an amazing book and thank you for shinning light on a subject most avoid
A wonderfully written romance story given the sensitive subject of racism. Tiana and Gunner come from two totally different worlds and upbringings, and their story is one that, in many ways, could be so realistic. I felt for both of these characters while they endured the wrath from Gunner’s father and his way of life. Misty Walker definitely delivered a tough subject romance story that was not only heartfelt but at the same time she gave us a tough subject and made me love these characters!
I absolutely loved this one! I loved the taboo aspect of this book. The characters were wonderful and more open minded then most in the world. Gun proved that you don't always turn into your parents and that you can break the cycle and live a happy, beautiful life. I can't wait to read more from this author!
This is my first story by this Author, all I could say if you read this book you want be disappointed. The storyline was emotional and I loved the main two characters. I would recommend.
Another enjoyable read with all the feels. I loved the development between the main character Tiana and Gunner, whose love overshadowed the hatred surrounding them. A story that was heartfelt and grabbed me from the start.
I listen to this on audio and honestly would have enjoyed listening to this more if the female narrator didn’t sound like Spike from Tom&Jerry every time she did the male part. Besides that, this was a good romance story with no, absolutely no breakups at the 70% mark lol. So glad to have another author I can add to my go-to list.
A couple of years ago in my Wattpad-obsessed era, I read a book with the racist falls in love with a poc trope for the first time. I don't remember all the details but I remember really enjoying it. After completing this book, I still don't know how I feel about that as the main trope of romance novels.
With that being said, I'll just list my thoughts as they come: - Going in, the primary make or break factor of this book was the white author's execution of the woc representation. I must say that it's decent. My only dislike was the light brown eyes of the h, if you're writing about a black woman please go all out and make her appearance like the majority of black women. - The dad character was a bit much and began to sound unrealistic at times. - I enjoyed the author's writing style. In spite of all the drama and gore, Gun and T's romance had such a warm a cozy feel to it. I loved their chemistry from their very first encounter as teenagers.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, and it was a great first impression of the author for me.
I’ve read a few of this black lady, white supremacist books and expected something similar. I was positively surprised because, Gunner was never racist he just had the misfortune to be born into a racist family. Some of the scenes were horrific, however the unconditional love between Gunner and Tiana was really coming through the pages. I really disliked Tiana’s family first reaction. Gunner saved her life, so I felt that gave him at least a thank you and the courtesy of hearing him out. The grandmother being a human rights lawyer should have known better. What I missed in the book are some scenes of Gunner and Tiana out and about in the world as a couple. A scene with the do over between Tiana’s family and Gunner would have been great too. The addition of Ranger was great, however I feel the book would have been even more powerful if Gunner had become a revered artist (canvas) spreading his talent more widely.
A beautifully written story of friendship and love can blossom in turmoil of hate and prejudice, Conversion bring me to tear at the end. It's not ugly heartbroken tear. On the contrary. It's happy tears. It's hope of beautiful dream that love would always conquer no matter what. This is not taboo romance. For me, the author speak deeper than how different and "not suppose to be" the characters are. Conversion is about the purity of love
I have no words to describe how good this book was. Being from the South there is a lot of racism. Tiana is my hero!! She stood by Gunner through every hate filled act done to them. Her love never wavered. Gunner oh Gunner how I love you!! You persevered and came out on top. Misty you are one heck of a writer!!! 5 stars!!!!
Nothing novel, revolutionary, or jaw dropping in this book. If you take away the one taboo theme, that wasn't addressed as deeply as it could have been, this a typical romance book. Also, the resolution is grossly glossed over with a speedy hea bow tied on top. It was ok.
Gunner and Tiana story was a very well written book. You must read this very taboo rollercoaster of a read. To get the full scoop on how these two became who and what they are.
Enjoyable read with a H that was real...actually cried...enjoyable HEA. I think the author will write much tighter stories as she become more proficient. Enjoyable.
