The snow is beginning to fall, the chestnuts are roasting and the mulled cider is ready to serve at the Garland Street markets this holiday season.
When Amelia arrives in Manhattan to help Cleo at her knitting stall, and Nathan comes to New York for a holiday with his daughter, both soon realise they won’t be getting quite the peaceful escape they’d imagined.
Amelia is used to putting other people first and this year is no exception. With surly nephew Kyle in tow, she has her work cut out trying to get both him and his mum to work through their problems before it’s too late.
Single dad Nathan wants to give his daughter, Scarlett, the world after he failed so dismally once before. But in trying to give her everything, and terrified she’ll make the same mistakes as he did, will he push her too far and lose her forever?
Cleo’s fiancé Dylan is pressuring her to set a date for the wedding, but with her stepdaughter Ruby against the idea and creating mayhem wherever she can, Cleo doubts she'll ever manage to start planning what should be the best day of their lives.
On Christmas Eve, beneath a blanket of stars, will anyone be able to get their Happy Ever After?

Many Aussie’s celebrate Christmas in July wanting to experience a traditional Christmas dinner on the coldest month of the year, well, I’m not going as far as making a Chrissy dinner but it is giving me the excuse to read some of my Christmas books this month and as it’s wintry here in Australia it’s the perfect opportunity to read books with a snowy vibe and winter scene.
Christmas in July read #4
5th instalment in the New York Ever After series.
A wonderful and heartwarming story set in a beautiful location.
Christmas markets, white fluffy snow and romance at Inglenook Falls.
I swear this book will put a smile on your dial. It's super cute.
Another fab book in the New York Ever After series by Helen Rolfe.
I absolutely adore books set in New York. All the characters are just gorgeous and it was just great to be back in Inglenook Falls catching up with them all and meeting new characters.
I have one book left to read in this series which I don’t want to end! If you haven’t read these books, you need to. A definite ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.
Kyle is not Amelia's son, but having shouldered his responsibility all her life, he is as good as. When she arrives in Manhattan to help her friend Cleo in her Christmas market, it is also a chance to take Kyle away from the way of life he seem to have fallen for back home. Nathan too arrives in Manhattan for a much longed for holiday with his daughter Scarlet, before she leaves for the University.
Amelia and Nathan have problems, but with two teenagers, they are soon in a love hate tangle that seem to threaten their peaceful New York sojourn. Amelia's friend Cleo is struggling with the newly formed animosity from her step daughter Ruby. Darcy's Inn blankets them in the cosy surety that her place has come to represent her guests and family, and maybe Christmas will wave its magic wand again over all of them.
This is a heart warming and emotional read, the story line gripe you from the start! Inglenook falls, Manhattan and the snow what more could you want in a book. I loved it from start to finish and this book definitely complements the New York Ever After series.
Amelia is on holiday in New York with her nephew Kyle. Kyle has been in a spot or two of trouble, hanging with a group of bad boys, and Amelia and his mum hope this trip will put distance between Kyle and the bad influences in his life. It has to be kismet when they meet a young girl, Scarlett and her dad, Nathan, are also on holiday, and all of them live in England. The grownups are trying to cope with the adolescents, as the kids find themselves growing fond of each other. The adults, too, are experiencing an attraction of sorts. But Nathan doesn’t trust Kyle, with good reason. How it all finally plays out makes for an interesting story. Well written, these are characters you will enjoy reading about.
I am behind on my book reviews so I am going to have to keep this review short and to the point. I picked this book on Hoopla based on the red cover for the #holidayroverreadathon. I was also intrigued by the Christmas markets in the city. I read another book by Helen J. Rolfe last year and this book had some of the same characters in it from the knitting shop. Amelia comes from England to help her friend Cleo run a knitting stall at the Garland Street Market. She brings with her her troubled nephew Kyle, who works at the Christmas Tree lot. Single Dad Nathan and his teenage daughter come to New York for a Holiday visit and run into Amelia and Kyle and that begins the enemies to love tropes. There is plenty of snow, roasting chestnuts, cider to drink, Christmas trees to decorate and walking through the market. This is definitely a ❄️❄️❄️read and perfect to get you in the holiday spirit.
This series just keeps getting cuter and cuter. It's a little bittersweet that I only have one more book to dive into. In it, you will meet Nathan and Amelia. She is coming to help out Cleo with the knitting stall and he is hoping to have a peaceful holiday with his daughter. It's no surprise that things don't go quite as planned but I did enjoy these two getting to know one another.
I think the thing I like the most about this series is you still get to see everyone from the very first book. Seeing what they are going through their lives since their book has been really adorable. Plus getting to know all the new people that walk into their lives just makes it a feel good kind of book. Which could potentially be turned into a movie (if it hasn't already).
Nathan and Amelia just made me smile. There was just something about them - call it a spark or something. I just loved watching them fall in love because that wasn't something they were looking for while in New York. I can't wait to see what the next book will bring me!
This author is one of my favourite Christmas book authors and I absolutely adore this series of books set in New York 🗽 Always filled with amazing characters that you just take to your heart, mix in a beautiful setting too and a heartwarming story. Honestly Christmas books don’t get any better than this! I have enjoyed every single page of this festive book and I cannot wait for book six! Christmas won’t be Christmas without reading a book ( or three!) by Helen! Seriously she writes the best Christmas books 📖 🎄
Another wonderful book in the New York Ever After series - this book focuses on Amelia and her nephew Kyle who head to New York on holiday over Christmas, and Nathan and his daughter Scarlett who also head to New York for Christmas. After an unpleasant start to their friendship, they soon become fast friends. Cleo is also featured in this book as well as our old favorites like Darcy, Miles, Mitch, Dylan and the rest of the gang. A great story yet again!
Thanks to helen for another OUTSTANDING book. This is the 5th in the series set at Ingelnook falls it's like coming home to a family event the characters are strong the story line amazing from beginning to end I can't praise this series enough and can't give it enough stars.
Just finished this book. Iwas so looking forward to it and it dissapoint, I was transported to New York. I love all the characters in the New York series, the story just pulls you in . Love love loved it.
Well, almost fairyland. A lovely quick read, a good girly book with happy ever after. Having read the series (so far?) the books do make me want to visit both New York at Christmas and Inglenook Falls.
I love this series of books. It great how you have familiar characters and new ones blend in. I liked the way issues where dealt with in this book. I want to visit at Christmas time and see the markets. I can't wait to read the next book.
I don’t know why but this didn’t grab my attention. I missed that plug-in I get from Sherryl Woods or Emily March. Maybe I’ll try again at another time.
Amelia arrives in Manhattan with her nephew Kyle. She will be helping Cleo on her knitting stall and he will be helping Mitch on his Christmas tree stall at the Garland street Christmas Market. Amelia is hoping that a change from the norm will be good for both of them. Nathan hasn't always been there for his daughter (Scarlett) too busy at work or just allowing his wife Dawn to parent whilst he enjoyed party time with the boys. Since dawn passed away he has had to up his role as father and this year he wants the perfect father/daughter Christmas before she gets too busy with her a levels. When Kyle and Scarlett meet at a party at Darcy's boutique B & B they seem to hit it off straight away. But, Nathan sees red and causes quite a scene. Causing a rift between himself and Scarlett and upsetting both Kyle and Amelia will he have ruined Christmas or will a holiday romance bring everyone back together?
I really enjoyed getting to know all of the characters in these books. It was great that the focus was on just a few people yet I got to kniw everyone around them. It was nice to see others being there when someone was in need. What a great family if friends during the holiday season.
Lovely Christmas story with many characters with the the many problems that teenagers, mis-understandings by the adults and the sadness that life brings. Enjoyed it and highly recommend Christmas in Manhattan.
