It's soooo nice seeing Kitty be a leader of her own team.
Their purpose is also great, liberating mutants stuck outside of Krakoa.
Pyro as a good guy should be fun to explore, it's weird though how he needed fire to unleash fire, I never knew that about him.
Also Bishop will probably join the team, his role as investigator of mutant disappearances suits him so good, but at the same time if he joins that won't be his role anymore.
Kitty unable to enter Krakoa is weird, I saw people saying online that she might be a clone, but we know for a fact that clones are welcome on Krakoa, they are basically cloning all the dead mutants.
We will see what happens, but this run is starting off with a blast.
Dare I say that I enjoyed this more than X-Men #1?

This was a HUGE surprise and I kind of really enjoyed it?

So Kitty is the lead here. Or Kate now is what she'd like to be called. The thing is, Kitty needs the spotlight. She has a awesome power. She's badass. And she's been a X-Men for like 20+ years. So give this girl some love! And with that she begins her quest to track down pieces of shit who would hurt mutants. And basically she recruits her own band of X-Men, Pirates like, called the Marauders!

This is fun, over the top, and badass all at once. I think this is really nice companion read next to the Regular X-Men series. A 4.5 out of 5.

Off to a good start -- the art is slightly better than X-men #1, but not by much. (I'm missing Powers of X and House of X's art already.)

There are some interesting plot teasers in this one. For one thing, Kate (Kitty) Pryde is the only X-men who can't get through the gates to Kraokoa -- the island sanctuary for all mutants. As she puts it -- it's as if all her friends went on vacation and forgot to invite her. The question is why? This doesn't seem to concern anyone on the island (maybe they've become drunk on the kool-aid?) when once upon a time it would have worried them a great deal. I mean, come on, Apocalypse and Sinister can get through the gates but Kitty can't? Why?

I think I know why -- she can phase through anything and is the only one with that power. Krakoa may not want anyone with that particular power on the island, any more than Moira wants anyone who can see the future anywhere near her. Self-preservation and all that. Also Kitty reminds us that Krakoa used to eat mutants.

Kitty's questioning things -- which may be why Emma goes after Kitty, because Emma questions as well. Also Emma had already pitched her deal to two other people, who turned her down. The first was Oro aka Storm (who wants nothing to do with her) who was the second?

Is Logan/Wolverine going to be in every comic book? Although he did bring humor to the proceedings. These comics have a sly wit.

What I find interesting is Colossus isn't anywhere near Kitty or on the team. Usually they are tied at the hip.

Anyhow, the comic has potential and is character focused. The bad guys still appear to be those pesky humans who want all the power and to either enslave or exterminate anyone who isn't them. (We really don't think much of ourselves, do we? Or the writers don't.)

So far these comics are better than the last three arcs (the Inhumans vs. X-men, Dissembled, and Age of X)...so progress.

A broken nose frustrates Kitty Pryde a.k.a. Kate, a.k.a. Shadowcat, a.k.a. Sprite, into drunkenly mocking Bobby Drake, a.k.a. Robbbbbbert a.k.a. Snow Guy (or is it Iceman? I can't tell). Emma Frost shenanigans afoot. The best damn start to the day an X-fan could wish for.

So, Hickman is doing great with the X-Men--but Duggan is the first person besides Hickman to write an X-title since July. And he knocks it out of the park. It's fun, dynamic, and has a great character arc for Kitty Pryde.

4.5 stars. Really good issue. There is a problem between Kitty Pride and Krakoa which is very intriguing. Curious to see how that plays out. Also the team that has been assembled and the mission they are on is also interesting. Seems like a lot of cool adventures can come from this. Then kudos to Gerry Duggan and the art team for writing Kitty as a complete badass in this book. She was definitely kicking ass and taking names. Pumped for the next issue.

This title was the best series of the first wave of Dawn of X launches. This book made me realize that I needed a comic book series with Kate Pryde as a freebooting buccaneer in the high seas. Right now, this is edgier version of the character is what this book needs and it's in good hands with writer Gerry Duggan and artist Matte0 Lolli.

I have two thoughts while reading this first issue:
1. How dare Emma Frost diss Kate's fashion sense! This books proves that Kate's blue tunic on tights with mask was ahead of its time. That was perfect pirate attire.
2. Nightcrawler would have belong in this book. Who needs a teleporter with the Krakoa gates? He definitely has swash with his buckle.

Pretty good one! Introducing what look like a promising series. Not my favorite cast honestly but I'm in and then I will see how it turn out and hoe it fit in this all new X-Men related universe that Marvel is starting here.

YES! I love the idea that Marauders is going for! Kitty sure is more intense than I've ever seen her, definitely looking forward to where she takes the crew. Storm is my absolute favorite X-Men character, so as always, love her in this crew. The introduction was a bit weak, but once there was some conflict, the group established themselves almost instantly in my mind. The Kitty fight scene had me going WHOA at every bit. The visual style is strong, and I like the logo. Not to mention the lore, which is just so well put together and is being drip-fed. I hope to do something like that someday.

Kitty Pryde has always been one of my favourite X-Men and favourite characters in comics in general so I’m definitely in on this series.

It seems very fun at this point, little Kitty on that swashbuckling ting. I’m not sure how important to the main story this is going to end up being but the sheer fact that it has almost all my favourite X-Men is worth the price of admission alone.

I just wish Bobby wasn’t in it haha never have liked him.

I love Kitty... i mean Kate in this, she was pretty brutal with the Russian soldiers and it was an awesome fight. Im really into this. Just some good fun and much needed light hearted story to compliment X-men.

It's been a while since I read something with Kitty A.K.A. Kate. It was great to see her take center stage. It's a fun premise to have a crew travel and fight for mutants that are not already on Krakoa.

Kitty or Kate

I liked the set up and character potential for the ongoing series. My LCS didn't have #1 so it is good to have the digital version.

A good start, let’s see if they actually follow up on Kate’s inability to go through gates or if it’s just a cheap plot device

“I, Kate Pryde, being of sound mind, steal this boat from you.”

Thus begins the maritime adventures of Kitty, whom I've always remembered as a meek but passionate girl from the Uncanny X-Men books of the 80s, but oh how she has blossomed into a confident badass woman! I have fallen in love.

What a fabulous start, this first issue of Marauders. Artwork: beautiful. Gorgeous colors. Simple lines but very realistic and elegant human figures. My favorite X-Men are in it: Kitty, Emma, Logan, and Bobby Drake being fabulously gay.

I'm so looking forward to the entire series. Ahoy, muties!!

When Krakoa was established, any mutant could enter - but the forcefield-type entry way only allowed in mutants, not humans. Except when Kitty Pryde tries to enter, she finds herself barred. Is this a fluke? Has Krakoa, for some reason, decided she can't enter?

Kitty certainly don't want to be Illyana's 'backpack': although the other mutant would help Kitty out, as she herself points out, does she really want to rely on her friend to leave when it's clear everyone else can come and go as they please? It's for this reason that she decides not to live on the section island nation, a paradise for mutants, which is about when a proposition from Emma Frost.

Don't live on the island, take the ship she's building and rescue mutants who are barred from accessing the gates as the Red Queen: some nations haven't recognized Krakoa or aren't on diplomatic terms with them and aren't allowing the mutants who want to go to Krakoa the freedom to do so. So now Kitty, along with Iceman, Pyro and Storm are doing this good work.

Hilarious, on top of having an interesting plot, and I hope Kitty finds out why she can't access the gates and is eventually allowed to live on Krakoa.

Well so far this is definitely been the standout book. It has a wonderful Central mystery, why can't kitty go through the gates? And I knew it had something to do with pirates but didn't understand what that would mean in an X-Men book. Now I understand and it seems like it's going to be so much fun. The team seems great Kitty is wonderful as a leader/person just looking to find her own way, Iceman is there for fun times, pyro as well whose voice is really fun to read aloud. Storm is definitely the stick in the mud of the team but she'll probably end up as a good balance to the rest of them. The global situations they will be dealing with seem very promising. And the art was fine, with really good faces. A+.

Find out why Kitty's nose is broken here!
And do her a favor, call her Kate.
Turns out Bobby wears flip-flops and underwear under his ice. But more importantly why the can't Kate use the Krakoa gates?! She's a mutant. Is Krakoa mad at her? Does it have to do with her phasing power? She better not be an Inhuman, I hated when they made Multiple Man a non-mutant! Pyro is resurrected so that's cool, pretty sure he formerly died from the Legacy Virus. He's a good fit for the team since Lockheed is hanging around. ...I kind of ship him and Bobby, just sayin'. ...I wonder if Multiple Man is coming back... What about Strong Guy? Does this resurrection thing mean he could regain his soul? Woah...this is way off topic, none of these characters have been mentioned in the relaunch yet. Moving on...
Kate's new mission is a really good fit for her! I'm excited to see where this goes & I didn't expect to be. Out of all the mutants on the cover only Bishop is in my list of favorites. The battle scene!!! So much good in this book!

Okay! This was fire! Though the name is a little odd (Storm even says she doesn't love the name and i'm with her), but thats it! I officially changed my mind on the Krakoan Era!

About the name, i don't think its appropriate to name a group that rescue mutants after a group that made one of the most brutal mutant massacres, but im willing to give it a chance! Storm even says she didn't like the name, and its very obvious why!!

Loved this.

Loads happens, funny off beat humour and a new look at Kitty (sorry, Kate) who is completely badass. I've always liked the character but she's never really amounted to much, badass captain Kate, I can dig that.

I hope the "can't use a gate" angle is investigated a little and not used as just a convenient plot device.

Great start, more please!!

This is conflicting! This series is PHENOMENAL in almost every way. Kate (formerly Kitty)'s character development, the tone, even the art is good, but the colorist has a SERIOUS whitewashing problem. There's a panel in this issue where ororo and kitty look like they have the same fucking skin tone.

Fun enough, with some interesting implications, but despite what they *said* was their purpose for being a group, it has been a little more telling and not much showing. I understand what the group is conceptually, but I wish we could have seen more action to support that.

Kate pryde rocks today as it rocked the day she first appeared in Uncanny.
I think the fact she can’t walk the krakoa’s gates is simply a cheap plot device, but then you see Kate Being Kate and everything gets better.

Not to spoil anything, but Kitty Pryde is a bad ass, and you will thoroughly enjoy this Issue.
