“Tell me a happy something, Sutton.”

I was only seven the first time Grady Bowen whispered those words to me. Cloaked by the black sky under a blanket of stars, it was easy to get lost. He didn’t have any good memories of his own and needed to borrow mine. I would willingly give him anything.

Being infatuated with that boy was a beautiful curse. What could have been special didn’t get the chance to bloom. He’d never see me as more than his best friend’s kid sister. That was a hard lesson to learn, but not the most difficult.

Grady had always been struggling against the odds. Eventually he quit fighting and let his family’s reputation own him. Try as I might, those influences were beyond my reach.

He didn’t mean to break my heart. Or maybe he did. I shouldn’t have made it so easy for him. Either way, our wrongs against each other carved new lines between us.

I went four years without seeing Grady—each one more painful than the last. That distance did nothing to dull my feelings toward him. But things are different now. Most noticeably is Grady. I barely recognize this man he’s become. And that’s the way he intends to keep it. Not that it really matters.

Grady Bowen stopped being my happy something long ago.

All the Stars for this Tense Brooding Romance of Love and Acceptance

You are going to fall all over yourself in LOVE with Grady and Sutton. They. Are. Everything. in this angsty forbidden story. I was shaken by how deep their love is and the hurdles, both internal and external, these two fought. This book belongs on your romance shelf, one of the most moving and inspiring romances I’ve read this year.

Breaker is gutwrenching, full of longing and second chances. An adult story about commitment and denial. And yet… it’s so much more. Harloe Rae is one of those authors who doesn’t fit neatly into little boxes, and this story shows off her narrative gifts and her romantic heart.

Everyone should read it. It’s a fantastic portrait of choices, between want and responsibility, between selfish and selfless love. Told with her lyrical style that spins a dark thread of hope and connection. It’s beautiful. You won’t be able to look away.

Breaker beats with so much longing and brutal truths. Grady and Sutton are real and honest, devoted friends driven apart by fate. And I love how they find each other, and find love. Plus, there's a dog. And happy somethings, and sometimes that's all Grady had. Sigh I love this story.

Sutton grew up as the bright buoy to all the chaos and tragedy that Grady swims in most of his life. She sustains him and keeps his head above water. They had a life long relationship built on ritual and trust.

When Sutton leaves, Grady is forced to move on as well. Only after she returns, can they begin to examine themselves and their relationship as adults. The set up to this story is so well told. I loved it. I loved them falling.

“His memories are full of smiles.” I LOVE THIS LINE! I want Gray’s future to be so full of smiles too. Rae writes their love story with so much care. She lingers in moments between them, and builds to their intimate scenes of rapture like she’s painting a delicate piece of china. I was blown away.

Truth, I may have groaned a little and sobbed quietly. It’s really gewd. Even the erotic touches are built on a desperate vulnerability, some of Rae’s best heartbreaking and romantic passages.

“A floating sensation sweeps over me. There’s serenity whisking within the pain.” Yeah, I know. This book is bulging with these moving sensations. Honestly, my emotions were all over the place. Tears and laughter and a lot of heartache, I was pulling for them so much and fighting my own emotional reactions.

Grady and Sutton deserve each other. If you love great leads, a good cry and a angsty love story, you will love Breaker.

Sutton Olsen has been in love with Grady Bowen, her brother best friend, for almost her entire life - and over the years, her feelings only grown stronger. But Grady never saw her like that... 💔
When they first met, Grady was so lost that Sutton began to share "happy things" with him, which became their thing. 💙

📚 “𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐒𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐧.” 📚

Grady's childhood wasn't easy, to say the least. Dealing with countless of obstacles, disappointments and pain has shaped him to be the man he is today... And dammit, I felt his pain deep in my stomach. 😭
Sutton has always been the bright light to his darkness, but he won't destroy her goodness. For him, she'll always be too good... someone he'll never deserve - even though everything she wants is just his heart. ❤

📚 "𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐛𝐨𝐲. 𝐈𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝.
𝐈’𝐦 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝." 📚

Even when Sutton went to college, distance and time didn't change her feelings... Now that she's coming home after 4 years, it all becomes too painful so she needs to let him go and move on - but her heart knows what it needs and who it wants. 😍
Sutton is very stubborn, for better or worse. She knows what she wants and won't give up until she gets it. But is it possible that the man who never seen her, will become the man who never let her go...? 😱😱😱

📚 “𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥?”
“𝐒𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐧,” 𝐈 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐥 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐤. “𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬.” 📚

Their story is a messy journey - full of ups and downs. 💙💥
Sometimes it was painful, sometimes sweet, sometimes frustrating, sometimes romantic... But in the end, it was totally worth it! 😍

It's a beautiful story about friendship, acceptance and love with characters you can't help but fall madly in love with! 💋
I liked that each chapter opens with a quote of something that makes the characters happy, I want to start my days this way, it was so positive and heartwarming. 🎉
I really loved Grady. He was such a brooding broken man, and he was so convinced he's unworthy - that I wish I could get inside the pages and give him a big hug! I wanted him to find the happiness he deserved... 💙

📚 “𝐈’𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.”
“𝐈𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞.” 📚

Although I really enjoyed the book, there were some things I didn't like... I wont elaborate to avoid spoilers, but there were some things that made me roll my eyes (for example, there were some too easy solution to their problems).
And although I totally love sweet story's, there were some parts in the book that felt TOO sweet for my liking. 😬❤

This book had everything I love in a romantic book - a broken hero, a strong heroine, hot chemistry and lots of heartbreaking, funny and romantic moments. Highly recommend! 💋💋💋

description

I'm rage-quitting at 50% (their first sex scene) after confirming she's a virgin & saved herself for him while he didn't.

Ugh! I'm disappointed but not that surprised. So, this is a friends-to-lovers type book with the heroine in love with her brother's best friend. It starts off with her about to head off to college and sneaking into the H's room to ask him to pop her cherry and he turns her down. Four years later she's back and there's some angst about how he doesn't feel like he deserves her with some pushing away but he's all in around 35-40% ish and was pretty cute to watch.

Thankfully he wasn't whoring around while she was at college:

"It's been years since I relied on the empty embrace of a meaningless hookup. That shit gets old really fast. Trying to force myself to feel something good was a cheap knockoff. I lost interest after a few shoddy attempts. It was stupid searching for a slice of happiness with someone else, even for a quick release. But I never claimed to be logical."

BUTTTT this whole thing bothers me cause he was in love with her!! And she's always loved him as well!! So either they both should've saved themselves for each other or both should've had some crappy sexual experience to make it even. Why is it always the woman who needs to save herself??? I don't recall ever reading a book where the woman has sex and the guy was the one who saved himself for her.

Also, his mopping and insecurity is getting pretty tiring. And they've been in each others lives since they were kids but there's no flashback scenes or much of anything to make it seem like that. For all I see they could've just met at the start of the book. If they have such long history I would like to actually SEE some of that history as well.

I'll probably just skim the ending to see what happens but this lil detail was an instant turn-off. I told myself if she ends up being a virgin I'm quitting.

ALL THE FEELS!!!

The author delivered a poignant story that will pull at your heart strings and simultaneously make you swoon. Grady was my Happy Something!

A childhood crush on your brother’s best friend could only end in heartache, right? Or will the boy who never "saw you", become the man that won’t let you go?

Grady keeps being tested. A crappy childhood left him guarded. Constant obstacles keep knocking him down. My heart bled for him. All his disappointments, the heartbreak, shaped who he has become. The author will make you feel his pain.

Sutton is his best friend’s sister. She’s the girl that’s always been too good for him, at least that’s what Grady thinks. She’s a smart girl from a good family and a great future. He tries to keep her at arms length; all she wants...all she has ever wanted is HIM!

Sutton was gone for four years. Away at college living a different life. Now that she’s graduated, she’s back home. Seeing the man she’s crushed on forever is the last thing she wants. She needs to let go and move on. Sometimes your head knows what you should do, but your heart knows exactly what you need.

This story is a journey. It won’t be an easy one either...but it will be worth it!!! The author continues to bring us story's with characters that you can't help but love. Grady delivers on the swoon and Sutton is his beacon of Happy Something's! I just loved it!

When I pick up this book, and listem to about 2% of the beginning, I thought about forbidden romamce with angst. After finishing this book, what I got is a flat romance.

There arw some plot that can be developed into more tragedy, but Miss Rae prefers to keep it simple. The climax is resolved really quickly without drama.

The chemistry between Sutton and Gray somehow fall flat in the middle. Overall I still enjoy the book OK. It is more like vanilla romance for me.

Ugh, I wanted to like it.

Breaker just annoyed me. In it, you will meet Grady and Sutton. There was a little crush back they were kids. However, when she was in high school he broke her heart. When she went to college, he changed. Of course, once she left - he pushed everyone away. Everything got darker and he basically proved to everyone what they all though: a fuck up.

After college, she comes back home. The sparks are still there but the chemistry doesn't start to develop until Grady gets hurts. What's love without some pain killers anyways?

I was rather bored throughout the entire book. Nothing really happened other than two people reuniting. Her family finally getting him to realize how much he loves her and then finally taking the next step. There was one twist but that's it and I honestly have no idea what is was for. Still confused on the whole thing.. and that's probably why I wasn't interested in anything happening.

Overall, the book was meh with a romance that wasn't much better.

5 Grady and Sutton Stars

This was the perfect book for right now. 2020 has been a grim year. I needed a book that would give me all the happy feelings and Grady and Sutton delivered. There are sad - heartbreaking actually- parts but this book works because the boy who is viewed by small town America as trailer trash and is judged by his Mother's actions by some, becomes the man that is the epitome of a good man who works hard and loves harder. He is beyond loyal. He's guarded and closed off but once Sutton breaks those barriers down....oh my goodness..... Grady is so lovable. I fell hard fellow book junkies.

In essence, this is a small town romance about childhood friends. On the surface it's an unrequited love story , where the girl falls for her big brother's best friend. and he's the society underdog that steals your heart. Sutton finishes College and returns home. The boy she left behind is all grown up and the feelings they tried to deny just get stronger.

But this has always been the story of a girl desperately in love with a boy. Irrevocably and unrequited.

Watching the grouchy, brooding hero fall in love makes for heady reading.

I never admitted it to her, but Sutton has always been my happy something.

What I loved was the way they were so clearly soulmates. In the face of trauma and drama they are unwaveringly loyal and so very much in love.

I squint up at the cloudless sky, imagining a blanket of stars. That vision sends me back to a different time. When a little girl with pigtails held the hand of a strange boy who randomly showed up at her house. No hesitation or fear. She’s had ahold of me since that moment

They may have fallen in love as children but their's is a very grown up love now and the sweet innocence they fleetingly had is now a very adult passion that sweeps them up. This is a lovely book. Drama, sadness, passion, romance, love to hate baddies , humour and a hero and heroine that steal the show. I definitely would read this again.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? No

When I was a lost little boy, I wanted to hold your hand. As a punk ass kid, I relied on your kindness to survive the cruelty. As a horny teen, I craved the curve of your body against mine. Now I’m a man, and I want every single thing you’re willing to give.”

Crap! What a great story! Liked the Gray nickname but Sutt just didn’t sit right with me. I really like the name Sutton. So the nickname was annoying. I love motorcycles. I wish the author wrote more scenes with it. Their chemistry as a couple was awesome. But, I loved both characters. And, Sutton’s family was so loyal and supportive. My reviews are getting shorter and shorter since I’m behind in my book challenge...

Tell me something good.....

I am so completely in love with this book and with Grady and Sutton. Their story of undying love left me feeling everything and hit me with all the emotions. I couldn’t get enough of these two—they left me utterly spellbound.

At a young age, Sutton developed a childhood crush on her brother’s best friend. And the older she got her feelings for Grady became bigger and stronger. Even after the four years she’s away at college hasn’t changed the way she feels for Grady. And now that she’s graduated and returns back home, seeing him hurts knowing what she feels is one sided. She needs to let go and move on, but sometimes it’s not that easy.

Grady hasn’t had it easy at all. A crappy childhood left him guarded. Countless obstacles keep knocking him down. From everything that he’s endured—every disappointment and all the heartache has shaped Grady into who he’s become. I felt all the pain Grady went though. My gosh, my heart bled for him—all I wanted was for him to find his something happy because dear lord did he deserve his slice of happiness.

In Grady’s eyes Sutton, his best friend’s sister, has always been the girl that’s been too good for him. He doesn’t feel worthy of her and thinks she deserves better. But all Sutton wants and all she has ever wanted is him. Grady and Sutton were everything, they without a doubt deserve each other and are perfect for one another. Their journey is anything but easy, but it’s so worth it.

Breaker will leave you wanting more. Harloe Rae delivers a breathtakingly poignant story of friendship and love that will undoubtedly pull at your heartstrings. You’ll root so hard for Grady and Sutton and for their something happy. Beautiful and heartfelt—I loved everything about this book.

Definitely recommend

4 ⭐'s

When I read the blurb for this book, it had me intrigued. The problem is it's slightly exaggerated.

Grady is definitely broody, at least in the beginning. However, his life is not as horrible as it was made out to seem. Yes, he has to deal with a mother who's an addict and he grew up in a trailer park but he's made something of himself and his life is going well.

Jace is Sutton's brother and Grady's best friend but they've all grown up together and Grady spent a lot of time at Sutton's house. He still spends a lot of time there working.

Before Sutton left for college, she wanted something from Grady that he wouldn't give her and then they didn't speak for four years. She's back in town now and there's no escaping her.

Luckily, we find out that he doesn't hate her, in fact, the very opposite. He just doesn't think he's good enough. Sutton is over the moon for Grady so the problem isn't there.

Something happens on Sutton's family's farm and everything changes but there's no further explanation. That really bothered me and I wish the change was addressed more.

Once Sutton and Grady become official, Grady does all the right things. And Sutton is there every step of the way especially when he needs her the most.

I really enjoyed them together and their connection...every if they were "connecting" a lot. 😉 It was really sweet how Grady wanted to give Sutton everything and finding out how much he had already done.

Then, there's the big drama. Again, a bit over the top but I liked how things came together. We do get to meet Braelyn and Brance from Ask Me Why and they were interesting as well. I might have to give their book a go.

Breaker is the BEST book I have read all month, all year, of all time!! Harloe Rae did a stupendous job writing Grady and Sutton’s story. There are several reasons why Harloe is my unicorn author and the fact that she keeps pushing out books that are just so much better than the last is one of the main reasons.

I swooned so hard, Grady is the sweetest man to Sutton. I cried like a baby, the hits just keep coming for these two. Each time they rise, something knocks them right back into the dirt. But most of all, I smiled. And I shed a massive amount of happy tears for the ending of this story.

Y’all are going to fall face first in love with Grady and Sutton is going to be your best friend throughout this entire book. Nothing and no one will top this. Harloe has left my heart fuller than any other book has attempted. The talent she possesses is beyond belief!

Fantastic job lady! This book is EPIC!!

5 All The Happy Stars! Grady and Sutton were destined to be together from the start and my heart beat like a hummingbird with this inspiring romance. It soared so high during this book. But don't get me wrong--it wasn't all hearts and flowers. Rae delivered a punch in the gut more than once as she unraveled this love story and had me biting my nails as I held my breath waiting for the wrecking ball to drop. And boy did it ever. This beautiful, angsty love story will have you cheering for these characters from beginning to end. Don't miss out on this or you will regret it!

This was my first title by this author and, well, I struggled. It felt forced to me...the relationship, the characters, the way they were together and the reason they were resisting being together at the beginning.

I am sure this is going to be just me, and just my opinion, but I really struggled with this one. I did finish it, but there were definitely moments where I considered putting it down.

I am not able to recommend this title.

5 Happy Somethings Stars!

Yay! Another amazing book by Harloe!! I have read every single book by Harloe, and her books just keep getting better and better. First off, THAT COVER is GORGEOUS!! Cannot wait to have it on my shelf!

Now onto the story, I'm NOT a fan of second chance, and it is pretty rare when I actually like them, but I had to read this one because its Harloe, but despite it technically being a second chance, I loved it! Grady is a rare specimen in books lately. He was super sweet towards Sutton, and did everything an actual man should do, and I legit loved him! One of the best things is him being almost celibate (doesn't go into detail if it was before or after she left, and he still didn't go all the way) or completely celibate the whole time she was gone, in fact, if anything, he was more miserable than she was during the separation. Now, she was a virgin, which is a huge pet peeve in second chance for me, but it was done in a non annoyingly way so I was totally fine with it, plus she still flirted and danced with other men, while Grady just pretty much ignored or was a jerk (love it) towards everyone.

There was NO OW/OM drama which is always a plus! There actually wasn't any unnecessary drama at all, and I was so waiting for the shoe to drop the whole time because authors love when a fight or separation happens right before they get their HEA, which although something does happen, it didn't come between them which I also loved.

Overall, Grady is honestly a perfect character, and I love how he was vulnerable and insecure but didn't let that come in his way in their relationship or getting together with Sutton. And that bonus epilogue! So happy to see those characters, I miss them! I loved the sweetness of this story, and I can't wait for the next book! Yay Harloe!❤

5 HAPPY STARS

Was definitely not expecting this kind of swoon worthy brother’s best friend romance slash complementary romance. After reading this book, I can say this without any doubt that Harloe can write flawed characters with such a passion that you can’t help but fall in love with them.

Sutton Olsen always had a thing for his brother’s best friend and with every passing year her feelings for Grady became stronger. Grady Bowen, son of a town druggie and a prisoner, was considered the trash of the town even when he does nothing wrong and keeps his head down. He always considered Sutton his happy something but could bring himself to confess those feelings because in his eyes Sutton deserved better and that’s the reason why he always rejected her. But when she comes back to town from college after four years, he can’t ignore those strong feelings he has for her.

This story is about loving, supporting and not giving up on each other. Throughout the book, Grady has been through a lot and Sutton never left his side even after he said to do so. They both have been by each other’s side through thick and thin. Give this beautiful baby a try and you will definitely love it.

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

This is a beautiful story with some really lovely writing. I really loved the author's writing style. It was very smooth with a great flow. Harloe Rae creates some really interesting characters. The character development is phenomenal in this book and the characters have a lot of depth. Both main characters have a past with one another and the reader can't help but root for their love. The build-up of the romance is written really well. Sutton and Grady definitely have great chemistry. I thought that the delivery of the story could have used some work. While I enjoyed the story overall, I felt bored through much of the book. What kept me reading was the amazing characters. I think that this is an instance of "it's not you, it's me" when it comes to me and this book. It's a good story, it just didn't wow me. Though, based on the characters and writing I would definitely recommend this book.

5 Cranky Stars

“Love you, Sutt. I love you Gray” That is the perfect line to describe these two. Granted it wasn’t always this way. They did love each other but they never said it before now. Breaker will certainly make you swoon and give you hope that the guy with the giant wall around his heart can be loved and love you back in return. It even made me tear up at times. Everyone deserves a love like Sutton and Grady. That unwavering support and butterflies. Seriously it made my heart happy.

Sutton Olsen has always loved her brothers best friend Grady Bowen. He was a stain on their tiny town despite never doing anything bad other than being a jerk all because he was a Bowen. Sutton believed in all things Gray. She loved him with her whole heart despite being off at college for four years she never stopped. When she finds herself back in town, she sets out to prove to him once and for all that they are destined to be. That he will never have to endure the towns judgement without someone by his side who loves him. It’s a bumpy ride but Gray is so worth it to Sutton.

Grady Bowen has a reputation. His mother is the town druggie and his dad is in prison so everyone assumes he will screw up as well. He does nothing to prove them wrong or right he just exists and keeps his head down. Sutton has always been his happy something. When she breezes back in town she’s just as beautiful as ever and he tries to keep her at a distance. One blip in time makes him realize that he deserves to be with her and knocks down his walls for her. It isn’t without loss and heartache but it’s also filled with true love and support.

Oh I love Grady Bowen. I love how Harloe writes these flawed characters you can’t help but love. Her books start with the couple butting heads and denying their love but then once they collide nothing keeps them apart. There is no real epic tragic misunderstanding that makes them break up they just weather the storm like couples in real life do. I think I love that the most. You know this is going to be good, but you don’t truly know till you read it. Yet this book does have a wrench in the HEA tossed in in the form of scumbag sociopath Lance. I mean seriously his name is Lance! Breaker is filled with heartache so be prepared to have your heart a little broken. I just love Harloe Rae books and I think you should give them a try. We even see a little someone from books past so maybe that will lure you in.

DNF @ 44%

I had to stop, I tried finishing it but I couldn’t. You have the main female character that throws herself at the guy as a teenager, he turns her down. Girl goes away for college and returns 4 years later. Guy is full of self doubt and is determined that he’s not good enough for her. Girl vows to not be that teenager who gets her heart broken again. And then, after 4 years of no communications girl returns and they decide to jump head first into a forever type of relationship. I get being in love with someone forever and finally having the opportunity to be together, but the guy was avoiding her and was hell bent they could never be together, and the girl talks about wanting to go slow and not get her heart broke, but then it’s all happy go lucky, we’re going to live happily ever after and be a couple. Wait, just yesterday you were avoiding her? I like the plot of the story, teenage crush/love between the rich girl and the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, buttt the details just suck. It’s so unrealistic how this guy has always pushed her away and showed no interest and even the day before he is ignoring her and thinking to himself that they are completely wrong for each other and then all of a sudden they’re going to spend forever together. I need a little more time to catch up apparently because it was such an abrupt change of heart. Yes, we know their individual feelings about the other, but there’s no lead up at all with interactions between the two. If the author would have at least had the guy thinking to himself about why he all of sudden wanted to throw caution to the wind and give it a go, I think that would have made it more believable, or at least had them spend a little more time together. But, she didn’t, so I’m not buying it. And the main female character, she borderlines on pathetic. He turned her down pretty harshly as a teenager, and when she comes back to town she’s that love sick puppy begging for his attention all over again. Nope, not my cup of tea. It may be yours, but it’s a no from me.

This is a brothers best friend romance

Grady Bowen has been living with Sutton’s family since he was a kid because of his messed up household.
Grady always asked Sutton for a happy something to make him forget about his pain.
Sutton has always been in love with Grady and before going to college she decides to do something about it and wants Grady to take her virginity. Grady refuses believing Sutton deserves to be with someone better than him and makes her leave.
Years have past by before Sutton returns home after graduating College and reunites with Grady.
Since Sutton left, Grady became a shell, his only happiness left so he dedicated his time to his job, his addict mother and later a house he bought that Sutton once told him about during one of their Happy somethings.
Grady first tries to stay away from Sutton but an accident leads to Grady being high on pain killers and confessing his feelings to Sutton. From there they decide to start their relationship.
The book was too sweet for me, sweet enough to give me cavities. Bad joke.
Grady went from pushing Sutton away to wooing her.
But the story turn towards the end, I wasn’t okay with it. It was unnecessary to be honest.
If you are looking for a sweet brothers best friend romance where the hero goes from brooding to wooing then you can give this one a try

Harloe Rae definitely knows how to deliver a book filled to the brim with all the feels and Breaker has just joined them.
Grady and Sutton were destined to be partners for life from the moment the met as young children. Sutton felt a pull toward the lost and broken boy she met when she was seven. Ever since then, it’s only ever been him, no other man could come close because her heart had already found its home.
Grady didn’t believe he would ever be good enough for Sutton, but when she returns home after four years away at college, he’s forced to face facts. Sutton is the only girl for him and now its time to be the man she deserves.
This is a little bit of a slow burner, giving us time to fall for both main characters. They are sweet and gentle, although Grady has a harder side due to his early childhood but he never wears it when Sutton is around.
There’s a few twists and turns in this story, a little bit of suspense and mystery but overall, it’s quite simply a beautifully told love story.
